Great personal attention from the owner, interesting historical building in a great location. The cottages were really nice with all the amenities, and the fire pit created a natural gathering place for the evening.
The only negative thing I can think of is that the hair dryer didn't work.

Guy at the front counter was awesome. Very helpful and informative with a great attitude. In the middle of the night there was loud drama as would to be expected in this particular town in the middle of the night.
Loud lady freaking out. She wasn't a patron but she was screaming at one.

The room was decorated with a French theme, Paris bedspreads, Monet prints. Very welcoming hosts. Whimsical dragons about the property. A quiet street. About 14 miles to the Tail of the Dragon on 219. They are motorcycle friendly. Would stay here again.
The shower head was so low on the wall the I had to crouch to wash my hair, I'm 5'6". My 6'2" husband didn't even try.

The place was very clean and I loved the rooms personal touch the front desk man was great. It's great for bikers, families, and those on business trips.
Nothing was wrong

1. Location: The location was great - I was traveling for work and the property was very close to not only the event I needed to attend, but also a few blocks downhill from the local coffee shop, which made for nice exercise on a brisk fall morning.
2. Staff: The staff when I checked in were incredibly kind and informative, sharing helpful information about parking, nearby restaurants, and road closures. Check in was the easiest I have ever had at a hotel — they had my reservation info and key ready before I even arrived (and I arrived early without informing them, so bonus for having the room ready)
3. Parking: It was so easy, parking right outside where my entrance was.
4. Room: The room was well-equipped with almost everything you would expect of a property of that class, including a comfortable mattress (my room had two beds, but I only used one), TV with plenty of channel options, in-room heating and AC, and a full bathroom with plenty of towels and toiletries. While I brought my own shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, I appreciated that they had theirs provided on a wall-mounted dispenser, which reduces waste and cost. I also appreciated that the room had a table with chairs, and a love seat, which both provided comfortable places to work. The wifi was okay. Not super fast but to be honest, in a town like Robbinsville that might be all they have. Worked for uploading/downloading video files so I’m putting it in the pluses. THE FRIDGE AND MICROWAVE were *such* a nice touch and something that people take for granted. As someone who travels for work, I HATE eating fast food all the time, so having a chance to bring some items with me and have the comfort of home cooked leftovers while on the road was so nice. VERY CLEAN ROOM.
Sort of a side note, but I was in one of the “rooms” but I hope to return one day and stay in one of the cottages.
1. Room: While I listed a lot of pluses for the room, there were a couple minuses as well, that if rectified would dramatically increase the travel experience for people visiting the location.
A. My main gripe with the room was the lack of blackout curtains or blinds. With my room being ground level and with a window facing an elementary school, the flashing lights of school buses would have been annoying if I was not already awake. The regular (non blackout) curtains did provide privacy so that wasn’t a concern, but as a light-sensitive sleeper, blackout curtains are usually an important part of my hotel experience. It wasn’t the biggest problem in a small town like Robbinsville, but if there was more traffic/light pollution, it would have been a bigger issue for me.
B. I understand that people were probably shorter which this place was built, and I at 6’0 am a couple inches higher than the average US adult man, but the shower head was about neck-level, so I had to do a bit of a squat to wash my hair. Good workout though so not a big problem, and obviously not something I expect them to fix. Just a note.
C. The coffee was lacking tbh. I’m by no means a “coffee snob” because I understand that they can’t be helped, but there is a mark that wasn’t quite met with the coffee here. The coffee was a regular drip machine, and filters/cups were provided (just a thought, not affecting my review, but I wonder if ceramic mugs instead of paper would add to the homey feel?) so in theory they were starting off well. What made me not even attempt to make coffee was the fact that the coffee provided was open, and in a ziplock bag. I’m all against waste so I appreciated that they were trying to not be wasteful, but coffee has a shelf life after opening. For food safety/quality/ease I would recommend getting a cheap, single serving off brand keurig-style machine, and some plain tim hortons or dunkin pods, and just leaving them in the room.

It had a generous amount of parking right in front of your cabin/apartment.
The facility is just old, and dated and we found ant traps in the rooms and spider webs in the closets. Granted we only slept there as we were too busy enjoying the roads around the area, but felt it needs some sprucing up.

Love the "at home" feel
Wifi was terrible in the cottage.

Nothing
I didn't like anything. Room had a horrible musty old pet smell. Room air conditioners were inefficient. Furnishings were very shabby at best. Old towels and comforters. Carpet tiles were missing in spots. The price of the room was outrageous.

It was very quiet and very cozy
I loved everything

It is a motorcycling area close to the tail of the dragon. Hotel has been around for as long as I can remember. Don't expect a 5 star resort. Yet the owners are friendly and keep the area clean. It is walking distance to most places in town.
The hotel is a bit out dated, but you can't beat the price and overall a good value.

Location was fantastic and well placed. Beautiful courtyard and area. Friendly animals.
Could use better pillows.

Great location in the mountains. Summer is also a great time to drive the scenic roads.
Parking at 111 was a bit scary, especially backing out onto the road. The hill angle was very steep.

We rented a cottage and it was close to the Fontana Dam and our friends new property. Pet friendly and had our own yard for our dog.

no fresh towels each night/morning

We rented a small apartment. It was perfect for what we needed. It had an awesome large kitchen area, along with a living/sleeping area and a separate sleeping area. The price was exceptional for this. The accommodations are not luxurious, but just what we needed for the price.
Maybe the carpet should be replaced with pet friendly flooring.

location in relation to where I wanted to travel and price of room
I didn’t find the room to my average standard it was less than a motel 6 room

Location was pretty good.
The room smelled like sewage! The guy at the counter was twacked out on something. Very rude. The room was very dirty and very outdated! The electric plus where so loose that they wouldn't even hold a phone charger! There where stains on the futon! The wifi sucked! The office was closed in the morning cause the wanted to play "pickelball"... very unprofessional! They left an envelope in the room asking for tips for housekeeping 🤣 That place hasn't been cleaned in a long time! 🤮🤮 I swear, I would have left if I hadn't already paid for the room and the fact all other hotels where booked! THIS PLACE IS NASTY!

charming, good value

the mattress was permanently indented, the room was not very clean, one outlet was dislodged and hanging away from wall.

very clean
winter time stay allowed no heat to reach the bathroom. so I changed rooms for less draft. king bed had a lumpy hill in the middle. toilet was hard to flush. I let the water run to get hot water—I gave up.
historic means covered cement floor with what looked like peel and press carpeting. rooms are tiny which was ok for me as I didn’t need more.
Too bad the owner doesn’t know how cute this place could be if he spent money on repairs and decor etc.

I liked how quiet the place is. The person who received us was very kind. I don't remember his name. We would have liked to say goodbye but we left very early.

The place is called “HISTORIC MOTEL” so yes it’s old! Loved the space, location was good, super clean. and the people were great!
