The cottage is very nice. It is very clean and cosy.
Our hosts welcomed us very kindly, and did everything they could to make us feel comfortable.

We enjoyed our stay at Castleton. The Annexe is very attractive and has been well fitted out as a holiday home. We liked being able to sit out on the very pretty patio and look at the lovely garden. It was also very convenient for the city centre; we walked to the Minerva Theatre in about 20 minutes. The Annexe is also very well insulated. This was a blessing during the recent hot spell of weather when the house kept very pleasantly cool.

The cottage is tastefully designed and provides everything needed for a week away from home.
The owner had even put flowers from her own beautiful garden in each room.
The cottage is charming and only a mile from the centre of Chichester.
My only difficulty was trying to work a modern electric hob as I don't have one at home. I did look online and sort of managed to get by. I'm sure I will be back.

Excellent property. Clean and comfortable. Great location for the City, theatre and University. Plenty of places for day trips locally.

Castleton is a lovely characterful annexe with many individual touches. It had all we needed for a five night stay, providing a very comfortable base for exploring the area. The location was excellent being a twenty minute walk through a park to reach the city and very close to beautiful countryside for a country walk. There is much of interest close by in the area including West Dean Gardens which we particularly enjoyed. Richard and Astrid, who live in the ajoining house were exceptional hosts: friendly without being intrusive. Richard very kindly helped me by pumping up a deflated tyre which he noticed on our arrival and directing me to the local Kwik Fit. This was one of the best self catering accommodation that we have stayed in. We will definitely try to book it again when we revisit the area.

The owners of this house have gone the “extra mile” to make it a home from home. The kitchen was very well equipped, everywhere was spotlessly clean and the decor very tastefully done. Little touches like vases of fresh flowers and welcome treats were a joy.

Great location, super hosts
We couldn’t have hoped for a better base than this for our two weeks in Chichester. This comfortable and well-appointed property is in a great location for access to the town, the theatre and the south downs. The hosts were incredibly helpful and attentive to every need. Highly recommended!

A hidden gem!
Tucked away in a lovely street in Chichester this is the ideal place for a couple to have a break. On arrival there is off road parking on the driveway and it was easy to obtain the keys from the key safe. There was a fantastic basket of goodies left in the kitchen for us by our hosts.
Castleton was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The addition of little posies of flowers dotted around the place was a nice touch and they were taken from our hosts beautiful garden which the kitchen window overlooks.
We had everything we needed and an enormous, comfortable bed. It's the perfect base for visiting many places in the area and there is a lovely, handwritten booklet giving details of places to go and useful phone numbers if required. The wi-fi code was left so that we could easily locate it and was excellent.
We met our hosts, Astrid and Richard, on several occasions and they were so friendly and it was a joy to stay at their property and we certainly intend to return.

Excellent
This was our second stay at Castleton, the previous one being in 2019. The cottage was as lovely as we remembered it, well equipped and comfortable, perfect for a visit to Chichester. Astrid and Richard are welcoming and the extra basket of treats was a lovely surprise. Would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Weeks break
My wife and I had a weeks break at Castleton. Our hosts could not have been nicer. They have a beautiful garden and home. A welcoming basket was laid out for us. The house is only a 5 minute drive to Chichester Town. Nice walks round the area and plenty sites to visit. Would stay there again.

Best holiday rental you could possibly wish for
We were blown away by Castleton with Richard and Astrid being the most amazing hosts - nothing was too much trouble for them. We loved the additional welcome touches - beautiful flowers, chocolates and biscuits. We stayed here for 2 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. This is truly the first place I've stayed where I didn't need the extras I normally take with me - they really had thought of everything so for once cooking in a strange kitchen was a pleasure. It has a huge spacious bedroom (and very comfy bed!!). Can't recommend it highly enough!

Really excellent stay. Castleton is immaculate and a credit to the owners Richard and Astrid who were very friendly and offered helpful advice about the are. The annexe was furnished and equipped to a very high standard with everything that you could need for a short break. Chichester is delightful and the walks in and around Chichester Harbour were stunning. Would recommend East Head at West Wittering, Bosham and in particular going to Chichester Marina to catch the sunset. Cant wait to come back.

A welcome change of scene
Having both worked from home since mid March we decided to head to Chichester for a change of scene. We saw Castleton on the internet and booked it. We couldn't have been more delighted upon arrival with a lovely note and welcome treates from Richard and Astrid the owners, as well as some wonderful cut flowers from their garden. We immediately felt very relaxed and at home at Castleton. They are a lovely couple and were their for advice and any help we needed during our stay, but left us very much to ourselves to enjoy our break. Castleton is ideally situated for the town centre, shops, restaurants and the fabulous cathedral, which are all about a ten minute walk away, as is the Festival Theatre. There is a small convenience store just around the corner too which is handy. Castleton is also close to Goodwood and only twenty minutes by car from Portsmouth and Gunwharf Quays.
The accommodation is generous in size and the décor is very tasteful with neutral colours. The lounge is comfortable and cosy and there is a good kitchen. we cooked on several evenings and found every utensil we needed was there.
Upstairs is a and large and calming bedroom with a good size wardrobe and chest of drawers. An extremely comfortable and luxurious bed and great en-suite with a good shower. All areas have good natural daylight and the sun fills the lounge in the mornings. The area is also very quiet so sleeping with the windows open didn't disturb us. The white shutters at all the windows allow privacy as well as creating a light and airy feel to the rooms. Things like hair dryer, ironing board and iron and clothes dryer are all there. There is even a good selection of maps and books showing some great walks in the South Downs. We couldn't fault it and we've already decided that we'll make a return visit in the future and use it as our base to further explore this lovely part of the south coast. To find somewhere this good is rare when booking on the internet these days and it made our stay a real treat!

Restful accommodation, easy walking to Chichester
Everything was delightful; clean and fresh, with everything we needed for our stay. We appreciated the delicious food goodies and beautiful flowers in the lounge and bedroom, to welcome us. The bed was extremely comfortable.

A nice location to explore Chichester
The property is very clean and new with a cosy feel for two people.
It is well situated for exploring the town as well as the surroundings.
Astrid and Richard were very welcoming upon our arrival and their "guide" to the area was very helpful.
To be recommended.

Delightful property
I was staying in Chichester visiting family. I've rented a couple of properties in Chichester before, but none were as comfortable and homely as Castleton. The property is a self-contained 'annex' over two floors, but feels like a little house in its own right. Downstairs is a kitchen and living room area. It contains a nice sofa and smart TV (with Netflix etc) as well as a table for dining and working. Upstairs is a vast double/ensuite bedroom. The property is tastefully decorated throughout and in excellent condition. The kitchen is fully-equipped. The bed is very comfortable. The owners made us feel very welcome, leaving an assortment of goodies. They were happy to help with any questions we had. I stayed because the property was convenient to my family, but if you are visiting Chichester for the first time then it's well situated; equidistant from the city centre and the beautiful Lavant/Goodwood walks/countryside to the north. Perfect for couples or single travellers.

Beautiful place for two - can't wait to come back!
We easily found Castleton Cottage using the excellent directions provided. The dedicated parking space was appreciated. Check-in was simple, using the lockbox at the gate.
The welcome goodies were wonderful – we polished off every one of Astrid’s lovely homemade squares. Cream waiting in a nice pitcher in the fridge was so nice – we could make ourselves a cup of coffee on arrival and settle right in.
Castleton is wonderful – it is beautifully decorated and has a vintage charm with fab modern convenience. Given our visit was in November, the heated floors in the kitchen and living room were much appreciated. I loved the two beautiful floral arrangements – lovely touch!
The binder full of information was a very handy item – we used a lot of that local knowledge during our stay. We enjoyed talking to owners Astrid and Richard (made us feel so welcome) – we were in England to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday and had his birthday dinner at the pub they recommended – the Royal Oak in East Lavant. The service and meal were excellent; it’s the kind of pub my Western Canadian heart delights in - and we were pleased to find Richard there, and shared a drink and a conversation. Practically felt like a local! (I would like to be!)
There is lots to do in the area, and Castleton is well situated. On the Sunday we were there, we did not even move our car – we strolled the easy walk to the vibrant city centre, and enjoyed a fabulous afternoon there (I love charity shops, and there are plenty of good ones to peruse!).
This apartment is gorgeous, bright, sunny, spacious and absolutely perfect for two. Sometimes accommodations have a hodgepodge of dishes and linens – not so with this place – everything was coordinated and of very high quality. The kitchen is well equipped – although there are lots of great places to eat out in the area. The bed and bedding in the spacious bedroom are luxurious, and I admired the perfect placement of the skylight in the bathroom to enjoy the view of the sky while showering.
We definitely plan to stay at Castleton again. We spent the best part of an afternoon at Goodwood, despite the fact there were no events at the time we were there – we will come back to go to one, and staying at Castleton would be the cherry on top of that future visit!
Thanks for sharing this lovely place with us!

The place is charming and conveniently located. The garden is beautiful, as Astrid is a florist. Loved talking plants with her.

Lovely long weekend
Castleton is a lovely annex in walking distance of Chichester, but also well serviced by a bus for those less able. The annex had all the facilities we coukd ask for, and most importantly a lovely comfortable bed for an excellent night's sleep. The owners were on hand if we needed anything but did not intrude even though we were next door. All in all a lovely stay and I would recommend Castleton to anyone.

A Little Gem
This recently constructed annexe offers perfect accommodation for a couple. Very nicely appointed throughout and with views over the owners beautiful garden with a shared courtyard seating area. The owners, Richard and Astrid, are sociable hosts who are more than willing to share advice on the area and eateries.

A great little find
Immaculately presented and maintained, the accommodation has a well-equipped kitchen, nicely furnished living room and bedroom and a perfect en suite shower room. In fine weather we were able to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine. Chichester’s city centre is no more than a mile down the road; a network of footpaths begins close by; and the city is well placed for days at the coast and in the South Downs. The owners were charming and very helpful and we would happily return.
