It is a wonderful little place, very welcoming and warm atmosphere. The owner Ken was so friendly, he took time too speak with my grandchildren. I will definitely use this place in the future. Thank you again Ken.

My friends and I enjoyed our short stay here. The house was clean and well furnished. The backyard is beautiful and has plenty of seating. We enjoyed sitting out there. The owner was responsive when we called with questions. The only issue we had was some confusion with the futon, which the listing indicates is in one of the bedrooms (it is not). It wasn't a big deal, we worked around it. Overall great place, and we would definitely stay again next time we find ourselves here.

We enjoyed our stay. The home is well kept and very clean. Kitchen is well stocked and backyard is beautiful. Ken was a great host and welcomed us to the property. The only negative would be that one of the beds and futon were small. So, the place does not really accommodate six people comfortably. Four people would be fine.

The apartment was homey and comfortable. It had enough room and no clutter, which was nice. Very clean. the backyard is gorgeous! Beautiful gardens in bloom, two swings for two, two benches, all around a nice table with a fresh bouquet of flowers. There was a firepit which we took advantage of and Ken, our host, provided the wood next to the pit. There is a corn hole game also. I highly recommend this place.

We loved our stay at this home. Perfect location to get to the Redwoods in the north and small quaint towns in the south. It was clean and had everything that we needed. The landlord family lives next door and very welcoming. They shared their lovely backyard with this rental and we were treated to amazing strawberries and blueberries. Thank you.

This is probably the cleanest house I have rented. Just about every thing I needed for cooking, bathing, sleeping was at hand. Ken is a very friendly approachable person and lives next door so if anything is needed he's there.

My small family of three stayed here on a trip up the California coast. The town of McKinleyville leaves a little to be desired but it’s a perfect location for access to the beach and the redwoods. We visited Clam Beach and discovered Trinidad Bay beach later in the day. (Stunning views after a great lunch at Trinidad Bay Eatery!) Our day at Redwood National Forest was incredible. Ken, our host, was extremely responsive and accommodating. The backyard garden is a lovely setting for a glass of wine and a campfire. The house itself is extremely clean with comfortable beds and well stocked kitchen. Great for a small group needing a place to land while touring around the area.

Hammond Trail Cottage was exactly what we were looking for, especially for our family of four. It's well furnished, clean, and thoughtfully decorated. There’s a beautiful garden in the back that our toddler loved playing in. Ken and his wife were friendly, responsive, and always willing to help out.
The cottage kitchen is well stocked and has a nice balcony with outdoor table and chairs. When our little girl got sick and we had to stay in, we made a nice family lunch and enjoyed the view on the balcony.
Thanks again for the hospitality and would definitely love to stay at Hammond Trail Cottage again! We look forward to coming back during our next trip to Eureka!

Our family of 4 stayed in this 2 bdrm and it was PERFECT! The location is close to food and shopping, VERY quiet and close to the freeway. It is in an adorable and safe neighborhood. The apartment itself is beautifully appointed with interesting custom furniture, plenty of linens and thoughtfully placed amenities. The owners did a wonderful job putting it together. Every morning, I read a book in a comfortable antique chair next to the fireplace.
This unit is a perfect reating spots to return to after a long day of vacation adventures! We hope it is available when we visit again in the future!

Loved this property and loved working with the hosts. Perfectly described in the listing and probably even better than described. Clean, well furnished, and if you get a chance to explore the backyard, it is really impressive. Overall, I highly recommend and we hope to be back!!

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. The location was great for our visit to the Redwoods. The cottage was comfortable, clean and had everything our family needed to feel right at home. The yard is lovely with all the happy flowers. The only event that made it less than perfect was a neighbor’s late night party. Falling asleep was more difficult as open windows were needed to be comfortable when sleeping. Maybe a fan would be nice for comfort and white noise? We’d love to stay there again on future trips.

Very clean and had everything we needed. Nicely finished and furnished. Only suggestion is to put another queen bed in the room that currently has the futon. Thanks for a great stay!

This was my second stay in the house and I would come back again! The home is compact but thoughtfully designed. The kitchen is a great size and the front porch is a great place to have a cup of coffee. The location is quiet but also close to the freeway which makes it a great base to explore the region.

First Trip to The North Coast
Before going into the specifics, let me just say this was a fantastic property and worth every penny!
The kitchen was great and well-stocked with basic utensils and cookware.
The bathroom and bedrooms were very comfortable and nice sized.
While the living room was spacious, the seating was adequate for a small family like ours, but for a larger one would not be sufficient. The television only had a few channels, and a DVD player would have been nice to watch movies with the family.
The WiFi worked great and could handle the demands of multiple devices.
There were several extra amenities included that were very thoughtful and considerate of the hosts.
My only complaint is with the VRBO app itself. I was never able to access messages and check-in/out procedures through the app which hindered communication with the owners.
The property location is excellent, if you want easy access to North Coast cities and beaches, and is
only half an hour from Redwoods National Park. There are stores, restaurants and even a movie theater within a couple of miles. We will definitely stay here again!

Stay
The place was nice but they don't mention that you can't literally touch the neighbors house, it's so close with a shared yard. TV had 1 channel and I had to provide garbage bags. However house was cute and I liked the location

Great Place close to Redwoods NP
This is a great place to stay if you’re going to be spending a couple days in Redwoods NP. There’s several dining options a couple minutes drive away as well as a few grocery stores. Kitchen had everything we needed. Neighborhood was really cute and fairly quiet.

N. Shore vacation
We loved the space here in McKinleyville. It was very clean and had enough room for the five of us. Cute details were everywhere. Ken came out and greeted us, and gave us some great day trip information. They have a large backyard with a beautiful garden too.
