Fantastic, unique suite, with lots of space. Great location close to the blowhole - everything on the peninsula within an easy walk.
The entry took a couple of attempts to find when we first arrived as we checked in at the sister hotel Duna, but once you know what to look for, it's no problem.

The place is well located and has plenty of room for 4 people.
There were some mustiness and the dehumidifiers were very loud, it could be annoying to sleep in case you leave them on.

We enjoyed the jacuzzi it's a real plus.
Spacious and confortable for a family. The archeological site vibe of the place is nice.
The pictures are really deceiving, you're expecting views as in the review picture I'm seeing now and we got the basement room which is basically a cave, nice one indeed but no views.
No doors to the bathroom, no privacy.
You need to park rather far from the property and look for the keys in another hotel, also far, so expect to walk with your bags.

Nicely furnished, friendly staff and good breakfast.
We stayed in room no 1. It was in the basement under a bar. We were regularly woken at 1 am from cleaning noises and clanging.
4.5
Very romantic location and design of the room. Like the natural interior and beautiful vistas of the sea and old town. Ideal for a short stay.

The ocean view!
Fetching the keys and checking in was difficult after driving many hours.

Nothing.
Disappointed and misled. Had I known there was zero natural light and zero ventilation I would not have booked. The 2 huge rattling dehumidifiers tells you all you need to know. 2 bed apartment not suitable for 2 couples, no privacy, no internal doors and just a curtain to provide bathroom privacy. No reception service no bar.
Indicative of the hotel industry today, an unsuitable space converted into money-making sales based on misleading info, shame on you booking.com.

views!
all good, water power low but everything else made up for it.

Breakfast was in another hotel which came as a surprise
They said it was dog friendly but it wasn’t. They sent an email to say we had to pick up key at another hotel in Spanish. Which we could not understand so made arrival very difficult. All other communications were in English.
4.5
location perfect
not accessible with the car

The room is incredible, waking up to a beautiful view of the sea. We were off season, felt private and quite. The medieval caste is beautiful.
Delivery of information prior to arrival about parking and room location was a bit lacking. Had trouble locating parking the room when arriving at night.
3.5
Room was great I was disappointed that the beautiful view was sullied by the people three feet from the window. The booking picture lead me to believe that more privacy would be involved.
If the pictures were more representative of the actual setting. I did not hate it because the room was very nice but having people right, outside my window harsher my buzz.

The view is incredible and the decor is exactly as in the photos. we have stayed here several times and it’s never disappointing.
There’s nothing not to like, a coffee machine in the room would be great though!

The town is touristic in a boring way, so much more expensive than the rest of Spain. Like paying 22 euros for a small tapas that cost like 8 euros in rest of Spain.. only to exemplify. This is not the hotels fault of course and the hotel was ok. Not to expensive to be in Penínscola but I do recommend to choose another nice town instead… The room was nice and clean, however the breakfast was in a totally different location (very annoying). It is better to know these things before, then it is ok.
They also said we could not use the rooftop terrace since somebody “had booked it”. There where nobody up there so we used it anyway, but it was not so comfortable when they say something like that. Otherwise the staff was totally ok.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. We had a junior suite at Respirar with great AC, huge space to move around, amazing views (even from the bathroom😁), amenities and a fridge. Lovely decorated and also had a balcony. Was on top of the hill (if you don't like walking up the hill find something else 😁) but it didn't bother us. Also the staff were super nice.
The only downside I would say it was the breakfast. Adverised as 'excellent bf included' on book in.com - they only had bread with tomato sauce, cheese and ham. Some.croissant and..thats it..
3.5
The room was beautiful and well kept and the view was amazing. The bar staff downstairs and the cleaner were very friendly.
The breakfast was in a different ‘sister’ hotel, Muva, which they don’t tell you until after you’ve booked. Muva is also a beautiful location, just above the waves. If the people were friendlier - the receptionist at Respirar or the breakfast staff at Muva - it would have made a huge difference. As it was, it felt like you were imposing (or worse, sneaking in for breakfast (it was only tostadas anyway...)). Also, if you want to sleep before 1am, bring earplugs (can’t blame them for this, it’s a lively location).

The location was great but we were expecting a room with a view and we had a great room but with no views at all. It was rather a cave. It was charming but dark.
No views in room number six

Super beautiful decoration, location and friendly staff.
The room floor was covered on sand, same than the balcony.

Jacuzzi in the room was great.
No sea view as promised - the room was basement floor! And no minibar or room service. Reception was on the other side of town!
5.0
The best room with the best view right from the bed. If you want a sea view, this is perfect. Open the balcony doors at night and fall asleep listening to the sea down below.

This room looks exactly like it’s pictures. We were super impressed by the view and the size of the room. There is a bar right downstairs with a lovely owner. We had complementary olives and sweets with the beets we ordered. A very pleasant stay indeed and i’d highly recommended this place to those coming to visit Peniscola
Nothing really.. But if we could have our check in done at the hotel that’d be even better. Don’t take me wrong as in order to check in you’ll have to walk about 5 mins to another hotel nearby and we absolutely have no probs with that.

It was cooly designed.
Was like sleeping in a cave. The loft was so humid it was hard to breathe inside. we had a baby and kid with us and it felt so bad to sleep there, im happy it was just 1 night. They have 2 dehumidifiers there but they fill up pretty quickly as its so damp. With only 1 window its not possible the went it either. Whats cazy is they have a jacuzzi inside also. The wifi doesn't work and theres no connection as you are in a cave. The breakfast was really disappointed for me as i dont eat wheat, they didnt even have eggs so it was ham and some fruit for breakfast... Ivee stayed in alot of hotels but this was rock bottom for me.
4.5
The breakfast was lovely and the view over the sea was amazing, the llovely cation of the hotel was perfect, will definitely return.
Possibly if more information was available in advance of where to park and which areas are free parking and which are fee paying.

Respirar is in an incredible location - with stunning views of the Med and the medieval walls. The bed was very comfortable (but lacked a headboard). The room was very clean and some of the staff were helpful (especially the guy on reception on the evening we arrived)
While there are some good things about Respirar, we were disappointed with our experience overall. For the price of the room (150euros for 1 night) we expect boutique hotel standards - but in important (and sometimes small) aspects it felt more budget. Things that let them down:
- at check in at Hotel Muva Beach you are not given any printed information about your stay: Respirar is a 7 minute walk away and there is no one on site there so it's important that guests know everything they need, eg wifi code, how the heater works, where breakfast is served, what to do if there is a problem. We arrived at our room oblivious
- the room was cold on arrival and the heater didn't work (this was fixed quickly though)
- the room is quite uncomfortable, with no headboard and only 2 small pillows. It's hard to sit up and read in bed!
- breakfast isn't served on site: it's not made clear that breakfast is at Muva Beach, 5-7 minutes walk away. This means that you can't have a lazy, slow breakfast/start to the day
- breakfast is described as 'exceptional; it's not. The food available is limited and basic. No bread for toast, yoghurt, muesli, only margarine, no butter. And they ran out of croissants by 10am (breakfast is until 10:30)
- the waitress at breakfast was unfriendly and unhelpful: we asked for more croissants but were told 'there are none' (so I went to the bakery 2 minutes away to get some - the hotel should have done that) and she was grumpy in her manner
There's the potential for Respirar to be amazing if they get these small things correct - but our experience was unsatisfactory.

Great room with a cool view..

The location was fine however there was no reception and we had to ask a local person who was walking past to call a number for us as the message was in Spanish which we didn't understand. The bar/food area wasn't open, the terrace was very tired and also closed!!
No reception, no bar or terrace open. Disappointed
4.5
Location directly beside the sea, sunrise amazing. lovely decor. Staff really helpful and friendly.
A small thing… It would be great if there was a coffee maker or even some instant coffee to use with the kettle that was there :) As it was off peak there were not many breakfast options close by, so if you visit off peak and you like to have cozy breakfast before going outside ..take some croissants and some instant coffee. There is a fridge in the room.
