About this cabin rental
This Vintage Rustic cabin, primarily designed for the camping & fishing enthusiast, is just one cabin of a 7 cabin resort. This cabin was built in the early 1950's and holds every bit of that vintage character. It may be a little rough around the edges but this authentic cabin holds the wonderful allure of days gone by. Electrical outlets would have been added a few years later and air conditioning wasn’t even thought of at that time. Those details won't matter to the outdoorsy kind coming for the camping experience where lake activity fills your day and evenings are enjoyed around the campfire. This charming cabin has a knotty pine interior and all the basics to create an Up North camping style atmosphere. A lifestyle one will appreciate becoming acquainted with.
All the cabins are lined up next to each other along the shore of a beautifully serene lake. This close proximity to other cabins have traditionally created a friendly community style atmosphere where guests mingle and create lasting friendships. This is the kind of place where your grandparents brought your parents, your parent’s brought you, and you are now bringing your children to create beautiful memories while spending a nostalgic vacation in a familiar old cabin.
The listed rate reflects the price for 4 adults or a family with children up to 6 people total. Additional adults beyond 4 will incur additional charges. This cabin has a sleeping capacity up to 6 people utilizing 2 bedrooms, each with a queen size bed and a futon in the living room. There is 1 electrical outlet next to the bed in each of the bedrooms. Other electrical outlets are minimally located throughout the cabin. The cabin has a kitchen with everything to cover your basic needs, a dinning space and a simple bathroom that includes a warm shower. The spacious 10’x6’ enclosed porch overlooking the lake is the perfect area for spending a relaxing afternoon.
Whether you are looking for a home base to camp at the lake or a base camp while you explore the area’s attractions, you will enjoy this cozy cabin and all its imperfections. More than anything, you’re gonna love the authentic charm and the carefree lifestyle that comes with camping Up North.
Pets are welcome on the property for an additional fee of $25 per night / per pet, paid at time of arrival if not otherwise paid. This includes pets of your visitors to the property.
Free Parking is available for 1 vehicle per cabin. 1 boat/trailer per cabin is also free but are required to be parked in designated area elsewhere on the property. Extra vehicles require a $25 per day fee and must also be parked in a designated area elsewhere on the property. This includes vehicles of your visitors to the property.

Rustic cabin was perfect for a getaway with my husband and sister-in-law. Close to Makinac City with easy access to the island ferries. The cabin could use some additional updates but was fine as is.

Such a good place with just walks to lake from backyard. Could have designed the bathroom little bigger and got one more restroom. Apart from that everything is good for the little stay.

Good stay as shown.

The cabin was very nice with all we needed. It was so wonderful being steps away from Carp Lake, so peaceful. Richie was very responsive and helpful. Having access to kayaks and paddle boards was fun.
I would recommend this place.

The location is great. It's 10 minutes from the ferry and the dark sky park. And the view over the lake is beautiful. However, the cabin itself was in need of a good deep clean, particularly the shower. We also found dog hair when we swept up as required before we left. This cabin (#6) varied in several ways from the pictures in the listing: the floors were painted, peeling concrete. The patio furniture had no cushions, and the kitchen had no small shelf--we had to leave most of our bags of supplies on the floor. The bed in the back bedroom was so noisy that it was possible to hear every time someone rolled over from the other bedroom with both doors closed. But worst, there are no docks on the lake! Even the guidebook in the cabin said that there were three docks to share, but when we went to the only docks we saw, we were promptly told we were on private property not associated with the cabins. Nothing kills a relaxed vacation vibe more than being scolded by a homeowner who is understandably upset to have tourists on her dock. Later, we noticed dock pieces stacked on the shore in a few places --these must have been the ones that were supposed to be provided for the cabins.

Great little cabins, rustic charm. Right on the water.

We stayed at the property for 24 hours and checked out 2 days early. Would have left sooner except it was raining. Photos must be of an updated cabin. We have photos of the actual place we stayed and it was a cement floor. No central heat, just space heaters. VERY UNHAPPY

The cabins are pretty close together, and the water is only about 5 feet away when exiting out of cabin 6s back porch. Cabin 6s bathroom is pretty small, and hard to walk through. The whole bathroom is cramped including the toilet area. The walk in shower is really out of place and the only light in the bathroom is right above the shower stall. The steam from my shower made the light flicker, which I got a little freaked out by it. The cabin overall could use a lot small repairs and updates. There was a lot of clean blankets and the beds were pretty comfortable. Though there is oven pans/pots I would consider bringing our own non stick pans. Seems like they also want you to clean your whole cabin before you check out including washig/drying all dishes, clean/wipe out fridge, cleaning/ off all counters, and floors. They even ask that you take all your garbage to the dumpster yourself. Seems like something housekeeping should do. I get wanting guest to not leave the place trashed but some requesting the whole place to be cleaned before check out is a bit much. Despite its downfalls our stay was nice and the view of the water was breathtaking. We really enjoyed having a screened in porch!

Nice cabin, what you’d expect from a cabin. Right on the lake with the moon over our heads was exactly what the doctor ordered. Would stay again.

Great place overall, but the heat quit in the middle of the night. The floor was very sandy.

We loved our stay in this cabin that had everything we needed. Rich is really genuine and friendly and helpful and makes you feel right at home. Our cabin was right on the water and we enjoyed grilling s'mores and hot dogs. Our kids loved wading in the shallow water on the jetty at our cabin. I highly recommend this place.

The cabin was just as described. It was a perfect spot to let the dog swim and relax by the fire at night. It was in close proximity to mackinaw island which was great.

I love the simplicity of these cabins as a place to clean up, cook, and relax after a long day of fishing. Perfect setting. Thanks Ritchie!

We came up for an ice fishing trip, and this rustic little cabin was more than we needed. It was perfect in every way. The gas woodstove kept the entire cabin warm and the lake is quite literally 6 feet out the back door. 10 minutes from the Mackinaw Bridge. Perfect, just a perfect little place. The owner was kind enough to greet us the day we arrived and even came out to chat as we were packing up 4 days later. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Pros: The cabin is charming. The property manager was very nice and on top of any requests. The lake view is phenomenal and the location is desirable. It's about 6 miles from Mackinac City.
The cons: The grounds are cluttered and less than desirable to look at. There is minimal to no money being put into the cabins. We had a piece of cloth nailed around the faucet to keep it up, paper towel lining the old repainted windows. Our bed had a huge dip in the middle and the bedding was stained on both beds.
I still have it four stars, we would stay again if a much cheaper rate was available. Summer would be better because you get the use of the lake.

The bedding was exceptionally clean. The cottage is old but on a beautiful lake. The coffee cups really need to be replaced with new.

Took my daughter and Grandson for a few days Up North. Grandson made friends with other kids his age and had so much fun swimming, collecting shells, and fishing off the dock (which was right in front of our cabin). The cabin was perfect for us! My daughter and I each had our own room and my Grandson slept on the futon. The cabin was close to everywhere we wanted go. It was just about 10 minutes from the Bridge. The manager, Ritchie, was there to greet us when we arrived, and was friendly and helpful all through our stay. Will definitely stay here again!

It was a good experience.
The lake view was great. I had a good time just watching all the ducks on the lake.

Rustic is an understatement
Some people might like *rustic* but this was too much for us. I don’t think anything has been done to the cabin in regards to basic upkeep in years. Such a nice place on the lake, but that’s about it. Richie was very nice but some paint, new screens to replace the ones with the holes and at least 1 lamp would be an easy and inexpensive way to ‘update’ the cabin.

Simple Comfort in a Prime Location
Myself, my husband, my 16 month old, my parents, and my brother all stayed in this little cabin. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The location can't be beat. We loved swimming, floating on tubes, canoeing, and paddle boarding on the lake. The equipment rental on the property is another huge plus! Sunrises can't be beat. A quick 10 minute drive to Mackinaw City. The floor could have been a bit cleaner upon arrival, but with the location you expect a bit of dirt to make its way inside from time to time, and there was a broom and dustpan on the property. Ritchie was so wonderful and gave us recommendations whenever we asked, and even turned his colorful outdoor lights on a bit early for my toddler to enjoy! He made himself so accessible during our stay. While we'd love to see a few updates to the floors and windows, we would definitely recommend and would happily stay again.

Cabin on Carp Lake
This cabin is a throwback to the good old days. Back door is feet from the lake. Lots of ducks, geese, loons and even a muskrat swam by. Water is very clear. Wish it had been warm enough to swim. Don't expect luxury here, but it has everything you need for a relaxing vacation.

Nice little cabin
My wife and I stayed at the cabin for one night. I was worried she wouldn’t like it because it is old and a little rough around the edges but she loved it and it had everything we needed and watching the sun rise above the frozen lake was just a bonus. Hopefully we can make it back there in the summer time.
