About this house rental
The modern cottage is a little over 1 hour's drive south from Perth. It provides families, couples and individuals with a value for money, relaxing holiday base in a quiet location close to beaches and the Peel estuary, and within reach of the south-west's wineries, breweries, crafts and forests.
Located in the Melros seaside community, the cottage is screened from the street by a bush garden which attracts wildlife, such as the Western Ringneck '28' parrot, bush pigeons, bob-tail goannas and brush tail possums.
The cottage has two queen beds and four single beds (2 bunks) suitable for children. The kitchen has a cook top, oven, microwave, refrigerator and dish washer. All utensils are provided. There is a bathroom with shower and a small laundry area with a washing machine. Linen and towels are provided. A reverse cycle airconditioner cools and heats the living area. Ceiling fans are in the two main bedrooms.
Outdoor eating is available on the front verandah which overlooks the bush garden. A gas barbecue is provided.
The property is fenced to keep out the kangaroos. Parking for 2 cars, or a car and dinghy, is within the property. Parking is also available on the verge. The driveway is shared with a property at the rear.
Melros' popular surfing and protected beaches are about 10 minutes' walk from the house (500m by road from the nearest street corner to the sand dunes). The beach is known for body boarding, kayaking, kite surfing in the strong afternoon breezes, beach fishing, and surfing when the swell is right. The white sandy beach offers long walks north and south. An asphalt path, which runs through the sand dunes southward to the Tim's Thicket fishing and 4WD beach, has lookouts for views of the coast. In the evening, kangaroos from nearby bushland graze on the lawns of houses, congregate at Melros 'Roo' Reserve near the beach, and bound through the streets and sand dunes. Take care when driving!
The bush provides opportunities for walks and viewing the local wild flowers in spring. The area is also suitable for cycling. The Peel Estuary and Dawesville channel which offer fishing, crabbing and water sports are approximately 10 minutes' drive away. Boat ramps which do not require a 4WD are found on the estuary side. The Dawesville channel enables convenient access to the ocean from the estuary.
The challenging 'The Cut' international standard golf course is about 10 minutes drive away. Halls Head and Meadowsprings golf courses are further north.
The house is easy care and has a securely fenced yard. There are a variety of interesting walks for dogs and their humans. The beach has areas where dogs can run off leash. All other pets are welcome, except for cats because of the wildlife - sorry cat owners.
There are a number of cafes and restaurants in the area including the Miami Bakehouse, the refurbished Cobblers restaurant, the recently opened Boundary Island Micro Brewery at Erskine, and Cafe Coast at the Bouvard marina - where you can arrive in your boat and dine on the restaurant deck. There is an IGA shopping centre close by and the regional centre of Mandurah offers a range of eating places, shopping and entertainment.
Day trips to attractions in the Geographe Bay and Margaret River regions can be made.
A vehicle is recommended for exploring. However, there is a bus service during the day which goes from near the house to Mandurah city and the train station. There is a frequent train service to and from Perth.

Our plans of a small family holiday didn’t work out because of my sisters illness, so I ended staying just the one night on my own to catch up with an old surfy mate at his house. I had a great night with my mate and it was so nice to come back Gaynor’s house for a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed and a clean clean house. Thank you Gaynor. I’ll be back with my wife ASAP 🙏

Property was well presented and well catered for. The only issue I would like to mention is the ceiling fans in the bedrooms are quite noisy, but other than that no problems.

Gaynor greeted us at the house on check in , which was lovely . Her place has absolutely everything you could possibly need, whether you are a couple or family with kids.
The place is comfortable and very clean . We took our two dogs and it was great for them with a fully enclosed yard . Thoroughly enjoyed driving around the suburb looking at all the kangaroos in the streets ! Close to the beach and short drive into Mandurah foreshore . AAA +++ overall .
Can’t wait to come back again .

Hi,
I absolutely loved my stay at the DAWESVILLE property.
The house was perfectly setup for a family stay with everything thought of to a tee. I mean we actually had family game nights, which we never had done in years.
The house was cosy and area was quiet as well. Loved the front garden which on the Sonny days there, I just enjoyed sitting outside relaxing.
Would highly recommend this property 👌

Gaynor was at the house to greet us and ran through how everything worked. Very homely and well equipped. Extremely welcoming for dogs and a well fenced yard. Just a short drive to the beach (dog friendly), shops and the main highway to Mandurah. Highly recommend.

We recently stayed at this Dawesville property for two nights during winter. It was exactly as advertised. We wanted somewhere quiet, clean, and comfortable. It did not disappoint. Gaynor is a lovely and responsive host. We felt very much at home. The house was cosy despite the cold weather with a reverse cycle aircon in the living area. It has comfortable beds, good quality linens, blankets and towels. The living room is nicely furnished. The kitchen had everything we needed with a good range of utensils, saucepans etc. Nice extra touches with the coffee plunger and ground coffee beans, plenty of books to read and some board games. Apart from some tree lopping going on next door on the afternoon we arrived which was out of the owner's control, but this was soon resolved, and from thereon in it was a very peaceful stay. A nice, quiet neighbourhood. It was lovely to walk down the end of the street each day past a nature reserve with kangaroos grazing. It is also close (easy walking distance) to a coastal walk (bitumenised) right beside the ocean. Stunning views. There is a Coles supermarket nearby if you need to pick up supplies. Two lovely outdoor sitting areas with tables and chairs. There is also a barbecue and an outdoor clothes line. The house would be perfect for two couples or a family with two queen size beds, and two sets of bunk beds (4 singles) in the third bedroom. The house also has a washing machine. A good base for a relaxing coastal break. Highly recommended.

The cottage is exactly as the pictures show, very clean and has everything for you. 3 bedrooms sleeps 8 with a shower room, dishwasher, oven, microwave, tv, DVD, stereo. The only thing I would add for the winter months would be some rugs for the tiled floors.

The owners are friendly, prompt with response and very well organized. The house fit out is the best i've seen, everything that is needed is supplied. The beds are the most comfortable Ive ever slept in. the beach is only a few minutes drive away so either fish or walk along the shoreline. The estuary is also a relatively short drive away and a great place to walk, very green with good views of the estuary. Most impressed with everything

Great communication from Gaynor right from the start of the booking - even communicated why the power was out on our last day due to works in the area.
This cottage? A real gem - very clean - oh the bed and those sheets! Delightful.
So much birdlife. We chilled, we listened to birdsong and the wind whistling through the trees. Late afternoon you can hear the waves crashing at Melros Beach. What more could you want? Thank you Gaynor.

Excellent home away from home
This property was perfect for our family, including our precious dog. We were warmly welcomed by Gaynor who gave us the low down before leaving us to our devices. A kitchen well stocked with any utensil you could need, comfortable beds and entertainment options galore made our stay memorable. The location was quiet, an easy walk to the beach passing local friendly kangaroos and the garden was visited by a variety of local birds. We will definitely recommend this accommodation to others and hope to find a chance to stay there again.

Clean, comfortable, well-equipped house, very helpful host + wildlife galore in the neighborhood.
A very clean and comfortable house with everything you need. The host is very helpful and communicates efficiently. It's a kangaroo town so they are everywhere. The Cut outlet nearby is a home to a few dolphin families. We have nothing to complain at all. 😊
