The house and location were everything we were hoping for. But some key information regarding the road to the property was not disclosed by Vacasa at the time of booking which unfortunately had an adverse effect on overall quality of our trip.

We’ve stayed here twice already. It’s an unbeatable location with beach access on a pristine quiet beach. It’s next to a river full of palm trees with a jungle look. The property is huge with a large private lawn/garden. The only ding on this listing is that it’s an outdated beach bungalow. It’s overpriced for the accommodations but we still go back because the location is amazing.

We had a great time. The house worked great for our group and the location was amazing especially being able to walk right out on to the beach. The communication was top notch and any questions we had were answered right away. We would definitely stay here again! Thank you

The house was so beautiful and full of love. We found a lot of cute dinner decor in the pantry to make our family meals feel a little more special. The lawn was perfect for cartwheels under the sprinklers. And the beach acess was easy and acessable. Thank you for sharing this wonderful space.

The spaciousness of the home was welcoming from the entry and they had Hawaiian music playing and a lovely gift assortment for us with a welcome note that made us all feel special.
The walk to the beach is only steps away and between that and the beautifully landscaped yard, I could have stayed there all day.
Plenty of kitchen supplies and space for our families needs. We already want to come back to enjoy this home and location more!

Everything was fine. More upfront information on early and late check in/out would have been helpful. Overall had a great time.

We loved our stay at Sandcastles. We had plenty of space and privacy for the three couples. We liked the location because it was a short drive to/from the airport and Haneli. The yard was wonderful for sunbathing when it was too windy to sit on the beach. The ocean views were amazing from the house.
Be aware that the only spices in the pantry were salt and pepper, but they were well stocked with sunscreen, bug spray, etc. There was plenty of glassware, utensils, dishes, cooking utensils and pots and pans.
There were plenty of beach paraphernalia downstairs in the room by the door to the beach, which also included another refrigerator.

We were looking for a place that would accommodate 6 adults and a toddler. This house hit it right on. Loved the location, private beach and how quit it was! Lots of room and space to roam. Don’t worry about snorkel gear they have it along with coolers and a few beach chairs. Great time!

Beautiful sunrises. On isolated private beach. Large spacious home. Very clean and beds very comfortable Responsive management in Daniel House is a bit tired. Things breaking down, ie screens, appliances. Furniture comfortable but showing some age. 15-20 minute drive to Kapaa and 30 to Princeville. So plan on cooking at home. Kitchen well stocked with utensils, pots and pans.. but not spices or food basics.
For Restaurant reservations plan 30 days or more.

Beautiful home in a breathtaking setting! The house was well equipped and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. We enjoyed spending time on the secluded beach, while still being just a short drive to Hanalei Bay and Princeville as well.

Needs updating and renovation
Overall, location is wonderful-right on the beach! You can literally hit sand w/in 100 ft. Water a little rough on that side of island, but just think it was a weird time that we went. Landscaping is gorgeous with a gazebo for events. There is no A/C but with the ocean breeze, it's not really needed once you open up the windows.
There were a few things that if I had known, I would have probably picked another property.
1. Most of the windows/doors didn't open all the way or were broken so it made it hard to air out the house. Locks don't work either. We were instructed to close up the windows/doors before leaving the house. Was difficult to do since not all the rails ran smoothly on doors/windows. Also, locks didn't work so there were wooden rods to place on the rails so that doors/windows couldn't be opened from the outside by strangers. It took some time to open/close it all up each time we left. Upon return, the house was stuffy and needed to be aired out again.
2. The house needs a LOT of updating in general. The photos give the impression that it's modern but it needs major renovation. The kitchen is the only thing that seems recent (last 10 years).
3. There are critters. I found a gecko beneath the sheets on 2 separate occasions. There were other bugs (roaches) seen throughout the house when the lights turned on. Maybe it's the nature of the humidity and being so close to the water.
4. There is a lot of gear (beach chairs, umbrellas, etc.) that is available for use but the snorkels were all broken. The beach chairs had used water bottles and empty Cheeto bags shoved in the pockets.
5. Since we slept with the doors/windows open, it was unsettling knowing that anyone could walk up to and in the house at any point because locks on screens didn't work. Anyone can walk into the backyard from the beach or the very nearby public walkway from street to beach.
6. It would be nice to have a gate with a lock/code. An automated gate would be even better. The current gate "closes" with a wooden beam into a slat to prevent it from swinging open. No lock.
7. The parking area smelled like urine/fecal matter.
8. At eye level it looked clean, but the attention to detail is lacking. Dust on cabinet tops, etc. Ceiling fans didn't work properly - which is not good when there is no A/C.
Things just need some TLC. Not worth the price for what you get.

Beach Life
The constant Ocean breeze was refreshing. The landscaping is beautiful. The home offers an open floor layout which makes for a wonderful family outing. Beds were comfortable and it was nice to have a separate bathroom for each couple.
Just footsteps away from the beach makes this home a gem. Kauai is a beautiful island and we hope to visit again in the future.

...these are the words from all of us. It was a perfect place for a family memory of a lifetime. We celebrated 25 years of marriage bringing our 3 adult kids. It was and ideal home with the 3 bedrooms/baths and the large, spacious great room bigger than it looked in the photos.
The ocean view was gorgeous including beautiful sunrises and starry nights, Especially wonderful was the very private beach only a "few steps" away to enjoy together.
Also, this location was perfect as an anchor to all the activities we had planned both north up to Princeville and south to Poipu Bay. The weather cooperated very well with the 70's/80's and only short rains or mists. We had one morning whale sighting from the house balcony! We all highly recommend this home.

Great Location for First Time in Kauai!
My friends and I (my spouse and two other couples) really enjoyed our stay at Sandcastles in October 2021. The location was great for our first visit -- it's located on the eastern coast so we could access multiple different areas of the island to sample all that Kauai has to offer. Also, when we didn't feel like going out, we were steps away from (what felt like) our own private beach! It's not a great beach for swimming -- lots of rocks -- but perfect for reading, watching the waves and enjoying a cold beverage. The house and bedrooms were spacious and the kitchen was well-stocked. I am not giving it five stars because of a few little things -- 1) I think the description of the house should emphasize there is no A/C. Once the windows were open, it usually cooled quickly but I'm not sure what it would have been like if we visited during a warmer part of the year. 2) For the price, I would have expected slightly higher quality towels and bed linens. They were a little thin and not luxurious. 3) Finally, the decor is beginning to look a little dated. A limited refresh would really enhance the experience.

Delayed - BFF’s 50th birthdays on the beach!
6 of us best friends from middle/high school celebrated turning 50 in 2020 finally on the beautiful beach of Aliomanu beach. There is not much more than I can say except tranquility for the beach. About every day we had a seal swim into the bay and beach themselves mid day. It was so great, we also saw Manta rays. The beach is pretty shallow with a coral reef the large brakes are way out in the distance. Terrific shallow snorkeling. If the beach is practically empty with only a couple of visitors a day.
The exterior property was maintained fabulously, the gazebo was such a peaceful location the long grass in the huge backyard made the Home feel extra special. There were lots of beach chairs and beach equipment to use. Like any beach house they could use more towels both beach and bath.
The interior was clean, it had tons of space. Each of the 3 bedrooms were nice. Technically two rooms share a bathroom. Then there is a hall full size bathroom outside of the third room that dies have an ensuite bath. I was concerned I was going to be very hot due to the lack of air-conditioning. But once we got the windows open and it cooled off for the evening we were able to keep the house at a manageable temperature. Unfortunately a lot of our linens/clothing were damp due to the humidity from the outdoors due to our windows always being open. Expect a few little bugs and critters like you would in any tropical environment there’s a beautiful serene water weight right next to the house that provides lush vegetation and a stunning view. You can see the ocean directly from the deck and it makes for a wonderful sunrise and sunset location. We use the barbecue it was gas and worked terrific it was clean. The house had someFun board games. This is a great house for small groups. I’m considering renting it for my brothers wedding location possibly. It’s magical. And I would love to come and stay many more times. Mahalo

Great location, rough around the edges
The location of this house couldn't be beat. In a residential neighborhood at the end of the road. The secluded portion of public beach and lagoon, private hot tub, and beautiful sunrises from the deck are the main attractions of this house. Plenty of space for 6 adults to enjoy Kauai.
The house does need some updating due to rust/corrosion issues and age. Sliding doors wouldn't close all the way (sometimes a safety concern). The oven didn't turn on and the grill has rusted through. We contacted the management company due to a fly infestation and didn't hear back since it was a holiday weekend.
Nothing to be a major detriment to our vacation but needs substantial improvements for us to consider returning.

Paradise on the Coconut Coast
We loved our stay at Sandcastles! That's an understatement. This place is perfect; incredible location on Aliomanu Bay with great snorkeling just a few minutes walk up the beach, quiet, and relaxing. The house is immaculate with just about any amenity you can need, in great condition, and there is plenty of space here.
The only issue we had was we were notified when we landed in Lihue of a maintenance issue that displaced us for the first night. To Vacasa's credit, they found us a decent condo in the Princeville area until the house was ready for our visit. While the communication during that process could have been a bit better, overall we loved this property and will definitely consider rebooking it our next time back to Kauai.

I had a wonderful experience- there are things that need to be updated. Closets. Handles. The lock that held the key had no battery- so we couldn’t get the key out to get in and 8pm in the dark with no outside lights on. The location was amazing. The property itself was amazing. McKell was amazing. I hosted a private luau which was so good... the space the outside lighting- the companies McKell gave us great references. On our last day of stay, I rebooked the house for the next year. It will be our yearly family getaway.

Spacious and Amazing! Location, Location, Location...
The home was beautiful, spacious, well stocked and clean. It was a few steps to the beach (literally 25 steps) but the winding walkway gave us privacy from anyone on the beach. The property was also huge and beautifully landscaped and my adult kids were able to enjoy their yoga sessions outdoors. We had an intimate wedding on the beach for my daughter and we were able to give them their privacy in the bedroom on the one side of the house. We had 6 adults, a two year old and a nine month old and there was plenty of room. The beach is great for young kids to enjoy but my husband did some fishing and we went hunting for sand crabs at night. The grandkids loved it and so did I:) The house is not air conditioned but with all the sliding doors, the house was very cool. Being right on the ocean, the salt breeze makes maintenance very challenging but the house was clean and maintained very well. Thank you so much for the great family time! We would definitely stay here again!

Minor Glitches
I did not give all 5 stars due to the following:
1. The road in front of the property had about 1 ft of water on the day of checking in.
2. The cable TV and Internet did not work for more than 24 hrs. One TV stopped working completely.
Other than that, it is a beautiful property, so close to paradise.
