There is a Reception desk in the foyer of your condominium (San Vigilio 1), which is where you may find Signora Carla Campagnolo, the governante (manager), in case of need. Carla is the person to turn to with any problems.. She works here every day 8:30 – 12:30 except Tuesdays (her day off). Her internal telephone number is 111; her office number from outside is 045-6277111 (045 needed even locally); For all these numbers, listed at the end of these notes, 0039 is needed if using a foreign mobile phone and you leave in the zero of the STD code.
Please inform me if anything is not working properly in the apartment. I would also like to know if there is anything missing or in short supply which you think visitors would expect to find. I cannot possibly know if nobody tells me!
The Apartment
We hope everything is self-evident. If you have any questions about the apartment, please contact me. The blinds have electric motors, and therefore switches somewhere close by, which you hold down.
Walking into town (or along the beach)
As you go down towards the main entrance gates there is, on your left, an underpass signed Centro Città/al Lago for which you will have a key. It is not the most beautiful of things but it does prevent having to cross the road. Alternatively, go out of the main gate and cross by the crossing (TAKE CARE as not all drivers respect marked crossings). Once across the road turn left and walk along the side of the road for about 50m until you come to a small entrance to a cobbled path (before you reach the Hotel du Parc). This joins the underpass and leads to the lakeside where there is a small café with chairs and tables by the water’s edge. If you turn left you are heading into town, and you will pass another lakeside café in about 250m, while a right turn takes you immediately to a beach and to a really lovely walk to Punta San Vigilio.
There is a very good supermarket in Costermano on the right (FAMILA) and beyond that at Grand’Affi an enormous complex of hypermarkets (food, furniture, electrical goods etc.). All these take cards. To reach FAMILA supermarket you drive back into town, turn left at the roundabout and continue straight up the road, round a few sharp bends and you will see it on the right, part of a modern shopping complex with plenty of parking.
There are countless eating places! Our most memorable meals have been at Trattoria Enoteca al Graspo which is easy to find (near the roundabout at the Costermano junction). You are just asked if you want fish (the speciality) and, having said yes, you just sit back while dish after dish arrives (no choice!) with a wide variety of shell fish, sea and lake fish. There is also a meat menu. Local wine and bread comes in good quantities and the whole experience was 35 euros per head - although you won’t see any prices marked.
Telephone and Internet
This unit has fiber optics internet connection. Passwords can be found on the table.
To use the telephone in the apartment, dial 0 for an outside line, then the international or national code. To phone another apartment, just dial its three-digit apartment number. There are four computers in the library (biblioteca) adjoining the Tourist Office (opening times at the end of these notes).
Full of information and very helpful staff, the tourist office can be easily found by driving (walking) to Garda until you reach the small roundabout (where the Ristorante Al Graspo is) ,turn left and drive/walk for approximately 100 yards and on your left you should see a red building. This is where the tourist office is located.
Intercom
To call someone in the building from the orange intercom at the barrier gate, press the button with the picture of a phone (), then press your apartment number, eg 428 or 426. The phone will ring in the apartment. The barrier gate can be opened from the apartment by dialling 491. To open the small gate by the road from the inside, press the button in the green post near the gate. Use this button (and, if driving, the barrier key I sent you) to get out when you leave.
Heating/Air Conditioning
This apartment has a modern air conditioning system controlled via a remote hanging on the wall.
Rubbish disposal
There are doors marked ‘OFFICE’ on every floor, near the centre, where there are labelled shelves for recyclables, paper, glass, plastic bottles and cans. Between the car park and the main exit gate are bins for compostible waste (“UMIDO”) and all other rubbish (“SECCO”). At the hardware shop or in some supermarkets, you can buy special biodegradable bags for compostible waste.
Swimming Pool
You will be given a pass which entitles you to use the swimming-pool, or you may find them in the apartment. To reach the pool, you turn left out of the building and follow the signs. It is a bit of a climb but well worth it as the pool is lovely and the view stupendous.. To access the swimming pool you will use the pass you will be provided with ,swipe it on the reader next tot he turnstile. When you leave the swimming pool ,you'll have to swipe again. There is a café/restaurant by the pool (excellent, with a fabulous view) and a small supermarket among the bungalows above it. We share the pool with the Marco Polo Hotel, and you are entitled to use their smaller one too. See the plan of “Parco Del Garda”. If you cannot manage the steps, you can reach the pool by car if you turn right out of the grounds, take first right where the Hotel Gabbiano is signposted, then right again at a sort of T-junction, follow the road which takes you through a gate to a parking area, through the car park then continue left then right on the narrow road till you see “Pizzeria” indicated to the right. Park there. The pool is fed by a spring, so never gets very warm. Swimming in the lake is a wonderful experience, but more comfortable if you have “jellies” or light canvas shoes, as the bottom is stony!
Tennis Courts
There are tennis courts for hire in the vicinity of the swimming pool. Booking is obligatory and this can be done at the Reception of Hotel Marco Polo; go out of the pool area by the top gate (past the Snack Bar), turn sharp left and follow signs to BURO or Reception.
Car and Scooter Hire
Cars can be hired from near the church. Scooters (Vespa type) are also available from Due Ruote, which is to the right of the petrol station next to the bus station.
Bike Hire
There are several places where bikes can be hired, including Il Velocifero. I also have three bikes to lend to my guests. There is a lovely flat ride by the lake past Bardolino to Lazise. For the more adventurous, the tourist office has information about mountain bike buses which take you into the mountains.
Electricity
If the supply should ‘trip’ (too many appliances working at the same time), turn something off, go to the electricity meter cupboard in the corridor and return the ‘Forza’ switch to the up position. All switches should be up.
Flat Roof (Solarium)
If you go up to the very top floor, one staircase beyond the top lift stop, you can go out onto the magnificent terrace and enjoy the sun and the spectacular view.
Bus, Ferry and Tour Tickets
Public transport bus tickets should be bought in advance at the bus station, although you can buy them on the bus with a penalty surcharge. There are bus stops right outside our gate for the route Verona – Riva del Garda (at the top of the lake).. The bus station is staffed from 07:45 – 14:15. In the “Leaflets” box, there should be a timetable for the service from Verona up the side of the lake to Riva del Garda at the top. There are two travel agents that sell tour tickets e.g.to Venice, Monte Baldo on the waterfront and Lagotourist near the church. There are both public bus and Lagotourist arrangements to take you to the opera and collect you afterwards. Ferry tickets are bought on the quay. Study the bus and ferry timetables carefully. The ferry one changes towards the end of May (more ferries) and in early October (fewer ferries). On both, the symbols denote important changes during the year, and Sunday times (bus).
Warning: There is a longish slope and 35 steps up to the pool, but it can be reached by car as well.

We enjoyed staying at the Lake Garda apartment ( again) with our host Mauro. As always - the apartment was spotless clean and tidy. We love the location- walking to the town centre, coffee shops, restaurants etc. Mauro is such a thoughtful host. And Corno is awesome.

Really fantastic service from Mauro, he went beyond extra mile for us. I was admitted to hospital before our stay and had emergency back surgery following which I then got an infection in my spine. I was discharged from hospital the day before I travelled. Mauro drove to another town and hired a wheelchair for us. Thats what I call service! The place is not really disabled friendly as pool was inaccessible to us but again Mauro did say to call him and he would drive us. We managed really well and got to other towns and even on boat! Thank you Mauro you are amazing. Place had lovely fruit, tea and coffee plus proseco on arrival, Xbox and play station games kept boy happy on evenings when I was exhausted. Well done Mauro for an excellent stay, YOU made it worth while

Great return visit
This was our third visit to these apartments, and they were as good as ever. Mauro is a perfect gentleman, and could not be more helpful. Everything was ready for us, and clean and tidy. Questions were promptly answered during the week, and all formalities were concluded easily. The views are brilliant, the swimming pool is perfect, and the town is only a short walk away along the shore of the beautiful lake.

Bonny Lake Garda
Mauro is an excellent host and we have now stayed at this apartment complex for 4 years in a row. It is ideal for a family with Garda on your doorstep and not far from Gardaland. We love it.

Nice Apartment Great owner
Our second stay with Mauro he is a brilliant host nothing is to much trouble for him.
The apartment is very clean and full of gadgets like PS3, flat screen TV, wifi etc.
We loved to sit on the balcony looking over Lake Garda.
Comfortable bed , nice kitchen and bathroom we stayed in 118,
Short walk along lakeside to Garda with a good range of shops, restaurants and bars.
Our Grandchildren stopped in 318 and they loved the pool and pizzeria.
Already booked for next year.

Great location, very spacious, excellent for a family
5 min walk in to Garda, easy access to lake via a private tunnel. Large apartment with seperate room with bunk beds for kids. Lots of extras such as Xbox, PlayStation, 2 telly's, fully equipped kitchen. Full laundry available in the building. Massive swimming pool and cafe in grounds but that's s good 5 min walk up hill.
Mauro was amazing though. Really attentive and helpful from the moment I booked to after he dropped us st the bus station. Over and above. He had great local knowledge and really helped when we got stuck on train bookings. A great holiday made all the better by Mauro and his awesome helpful nature.

Sorry all - previous review should be 5 stars not 3 - it's the Bardolino wine effect!

Great place to be
Everything the 5/5 reviewers say about this location and about Mauro is absolutely true. We are here now 3 days in to a weeks holiday and we are loving it. Mauro has arranged our airport transfers, given us a guided tour, recommended restaurants and booked our train tickets to Venice. He is fab and so is the place. Hope we'll be back.

my best holiday
The main hall of the building looked a bit dated, but the apartment itself was great. It was equipped very well. The building was located close to the Garda town - in walking distance - but far enough to not be disturbed by any noise. The owner was the best and most helpful host we've ever met.
I would recommend it to everybody.

Second visit - planning a third!!!
This was the second visit to Mauro's apartment and we are planning a third. Fabulous location, great value, superb host (can't do enough for you), wonderful facilities up the hill - the pizzaria is one of my favourite places in the world to sit and watch the sun go down. The apartment is clean, tidy, well equipped and ideal for us with 2 teenage daughters as they get their own bedroom and more importantly, their own bathroom. The walk into town along the edge of the lake is relaxed with breathtaking views across the lake. Can't wait to go back - again!

We spent a wonderful week at Mauro's apartment. The location is great and the apartment is very comfortable and fully equipped. Mauro's devotion and dedication cannot be taken for granted. He is always there to help and assist in any way he can.

Great apartment option in Garda
We are a family with two children (aged 4 and 5) and we stayed in the apartment for 10 days in August 2013. The apartment was great - clean and homely, well furnished (including a well stocked kitchen and lots of DVDs) and had perfect space for a family holiday, with a separate bedroom (with bunks) and second shower room.
Mauro was really welcoming and friendly, and couldn't be more helpful. He'd left drinks, fruit, bread etc in the fridge for our arrival and had arranged a transfer each way from Verona airport. Once we were in Garda we didn't need a car as we used local buses and ferries which was easy. There is a bus stop right outside the apartments and the ferry was a 10 minute walk away.
We did some great day trips to Sirmioni, Torri del Benaco, Lazise and Bardolino - all lovely towns - and enjoyed strolling into Garda town in the evening to eat dinner by the lake, where there was a large choice of restaurants.
We were surprised at how much time we also spent at the pool, which was great - the kids loved it. The pizzeria on site also had good food and wonderful views over the olive groves, hills and lake.
We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others.

Great place to stay and would highly recommend it
Great place to stay. Apartment was clean, tidy and extremely comfortable. Easy access to the beautiful lake and Garda town. We would recommend a visit to the bakers in Garda - superb range of pastries and breads. We stayed for 2 weeks and also went to Venice, Verona and Monte Baldo. The apartment had everything we needed and what we didn't have Mauro, the owner provided immediately. Great place to relax, although the pool is quite a steep walk from the apartment. We had a fantastic time and can't recommend Mauro and the apartment highly enough. I have no doubts that we will visit again. Thank you!

Spacious and relaxing
Excellent communication and arrival instructions from Mauro. Warm and informative welcome. Spacious and well serviced apartment although the kitchen area is a little cramped it functioned well. Lovely environment. Be prepared to work for a quarter of an hour to do shopping. Swimming pool and lake access is superb. Very quiet and relaxing inside the apartment complex. Would certainly return - and will!

Large, clean and well furnished
The apartment was very large and we had come with friends. Nearly e4verything you could need was waiting for us including milk, drinks and fruit etc. The first night we got caught in a thunderstorm. On returning to the complex Mauro was waiting for us with 4 large towels. The rest of the week was hot but unfortunately I tripped and hurt myself. Mauro offered to take me to the doctors as they couldn't speak English. It wasn't necessary but the consideration he gives to his visitors is the best we have ever received in 30 odd years of holidaying in France and Italy. The apartment has TV, DVD and games for children so is ideal for a family. Should we ever return to Lake Garda we would certainly consider re-booking. Smith family and friends

Apartments 218 and 118
All the descriptions given about these rental apartments are completely accurate, the apartments were very clean, well equipped and close to the lake. The town of Garda is about a 10 minute walk from the apartments, with a great choice of restaurants and shops. The owner Mauro, was extremely helpful and kind towards me and my family and we enjoyed our stay so much that we are coming back in 2013. I would not hesitate to recommend this holiday to anyone wishing to visit Italy.

The host with the most
Have to say I choose this property based on the reviews it received from other travellers and their high praise of Mauro. Well were they all perfectly true and he really proved his dedication to his guests with us. We tested him to the limit. We hired a car (which wasn’t really necessary as there were buses to anywhere you wished to go) but had planned on going to Venice, Milan etc. We had problems with the car and Mauro to the rescue. He collected us when we were stranded 30km away and also made all the phone calls to ensure we got another car which was brilliant as we do not speak Italian and then drove us another 30km to get then new car. A real hero and no charge!!It was like having a best friend on holidays with you always there when you need him but never in the way.
I stayed in apt 228 with my husband and 3 young teenagers. It was a really large building with big wide corridors and perhaps a bit dated. But what it lacked in décor it made up for in location and privacy. This is a really great place to stay, the location was perfectly central; the apartment was roomy, clean and extremely well equipped. It had EVERYTHING, Xbox, games, at least 100DVD’s, air conditioning and a computer with free internet access. It was a short safe scenic stroll to the town of Garda, the beach and to the pool. The underground passage to the beach was excellent, the scenery was breath taking. The beach was brilliant (no sand) lots of pebbles so I would recommend some type of water shoes, it also get deep quite quickly.
There were lots of attractions for teenagers, Garland, Park Jungle Adventure and Funivia were the ones we enjoyed most. We went to the Caneva water park but I would not recommend it, as I thought a lot of the rides were unsafe, left us bruised and it was very poorly staffed compared to other water parks I’ve visited.
I would and have highly recommended this property to anyone who will listen to me
Thanks Mauro for a lovely stay, you're a star
