This is an amazing historic house, in a beautiful city. It was an absolute privilege to meet one of the the current owners , Johanna, who with her partner obviously relish their time as custodians of a very special place. The furnishings, bathroom and bedroom - first class - and the breakfast second to none if you like ‘proper France’. This is a little jewel not to be missed.

The hotel was great: perfect location, clean comfortable room, lovely breakfast and superb service from the staff.
The only slight glitch is the basin tap which does not allow you to control the water temperature.

It is a very old (but well restored) solid timber framed building in a narrow street with wonderful original features. The bed was most comfortable. Johanna, our host, was kindness personified. It is a very welcoming hotel. It is also excellent value. The home-made breakfast of yoghurt, crepes, croissants, bread and preserves was gorgeous. Guests should be mindful that the stairs may be unsuitable for those with mobility issues. Municipal parking is available nearby.
nothing. If you want lifts, on-site parking and a pool or gym, this may not be the place for you. If you like the personal touch and something unusual, then this is it. We would definitely stay here again.

Our host Marlène was so helpful and lovely. The whole building was so delightful, including our little wooden door across the window into the light well / stairwell. Although the room is small, it was very carefully and well fitted out to be very comfortable and had everything we needed. The bathroom was quite large with a great shower.
The only strange thing was the tap over the sink, that seemed to just get hotter the longer it was on

A charming 16th century building with well-appointed rooms that artfully balance with modern comfort and convenience with old-world touches. Host Marlène was extremely warm, welcoming and informative.
Some guests may find the multi-level wooden staircase hard to manage and/or rather noisy (as guests ascend/descend). It’s all part of the experience.

Friendly hostess , great breakfast and lovely place!

Tastefully decorated and super clean room. Bed was big and comfortable, we slept really well! The standalone bath is an absolute delight, the perfect recharge from the rain. Hostess was a really nice and welcoming lady. Breakfast was traditional French with a well made croissant, proper french bread, yoghurt, cereal, Nutella, fresh Jam and honey, coffee and tea! Delicious! The building has beautifully dated, the style of the building is retained on the inside as well, quite a special experience we truly enjoyed 😊

Amazing old building, beautifully furnished room and very comfortable bed. A bit quirky for some, perhaps, but we thought it an absolute joy. Lovely breakfast too. OK, so you have to park a (very) short distance away but you are close to the heart of the historic quarter as well as some good restaurants. All in all, a veritable jewel!
Absolutely nothing.

Fascinating historic property sympathetically restored. Very comfortable bed. One of the very best breakfasts of our recent travels and the lovely, easy friendliness of Johannes.
Nothing. It’s unusual and you’d need to be happy with stairs if on a higher floor but it’s well worth it.

Beautiful accommodation in historic building. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Excellent breakfast.
Our room was at the top of the building up a lot of stairs, which was fine for us but other guests might need to know this before booking.

It is a lovely B&B slotted into the most amazing medieval building which marries contemporary styling without damaging the integrity of all the old original wooden features. There is a bedroom on each of the landings that are each an original room of the house. We stayed in “The retreat” which was originally the kitchen of the house. It was furnished in a comfortable, contemporary, industrial style that complemented the original features of the room. Our host, Johanna, was lovely and helpful. Added to which she seemed more than happy to talk about the history of the building. It was clear that the renovation of the property had been a real labour of love! in addition she provided a lovely breakfast of local produce that included home made crepes and yoghurt.
I didn’t dislike anything about it but should point out a couple of things that others may not like. Access to the rooms may be difficult for some people given the very old and steep wooden staircase. There is no lift so someone with mobility issue would probably struggle. The property also lacks air conditioning and although there was a fan provided the night we stayed was exceptionally warm and stuffy.

Pleasant change to stay in an interesting old building rather than a purpose built hotel en route to our holiday destination.

Staff were genuinely friendly. The rooms were smartly furnished and very comfortable. The building is gorgeous. Breakfast was really great. It is in a superb location in Angers.
Not a criticism but 3 floors up was a big climb to the room.

A charming building right next to the cathedral and a short walk from the castle. The hostess was very friendly and the breakfast was excellent. I would gladly stay here again.

Very nice location in a midieval building in the dead center if the city of Angers. Close to everything, although I was there for business, I still could walk to the main squares of the city in the evening. By foot it is also only a 10 min. walk to the trainstation.
The staff/owners of this small hotel are more than friendly and were very helpfull. The breakfast was more than sufficient, well taken care of and not presented as in a "traditional" hotel with a breakfast buffet but more on a personal level.
There is nothing not to like.

Marlene and Johanna, our hosts, were incredible and very caring. They provided very personalized support (recommendations, maps, etc.) and amazing breakfasts. The building is historic and perfectly located to walk to the cultural sights and gorgeous parks. We spent five wonderful days/nights at the Maison and highly recommend it!
Nothing—everything was perfect!

Unique opportunity to stay in a beautifully restored medieval town house.
Perfect central location - sights, restaurants, shopping all within a few minutes' walk.
Very friendly and helpful host.

Marlene was very helpful and welcoming. The place is like a medieval fairytale, a real piece of architectural history. We stayed in the Pigeon room right at the top, which has a lovely view of the roof tops, the top of Palais Episcopal and a peep of the Cathedral. The bed was very comfortable and we had a lovely homemade yogurt as part of our breakfast.
Our room was at the top of the staircase, which is a long way up (I don’t like heights and you can see down the stairwell). I’m glad I didn’t bring a heavy case.
There isn’t onsite parking.
