The owner and the staff were amazing with us, they took time to explain us about the wine area, their wines, the town, the history. They made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed.
The property was lovely, it was ancien style as from 1619 but very well kept so it had all the facilities to make the experience wonderful.
There was nothing we didn’t like

Old world charm great location great food

Location is great. Hotel is designed within an historic building with beautiful wood and interiors.
Bed was hard as a rock- really uncomfortable sleep which hurt my back and hips. Staff were scarce at times to ask questions. Dined in restaurant and found food mediocre for the price. Service wasn’t great as a large party came in after me where I was left on my own and had to leave my room number on a scrap of paper for the bill which was charged the next day at €58!

Beautiful hotel - stunning interior and perfect location to walk into town.
We opted for a small double and found the bed tiny.

The restaurant was excellent!
The restaurant was unexpected closed one of two days.

The hotel is in a historical building of a Bodega with very long history.
It's inside the mountain town of Laguardia, the vibe is spectacular.
There is a Bodega for wine tasting and a good restaurant.
Expectedly, there's no lifts
One night, it was very noisy with dish washing sounds, though we're not sure about the source

Beautiful old property inside the town walls. Comfortable hotel.
No tea making facilities

Amazing hotel, in a building that's 400 years old. Our bed was enormous and really comfortable. We loved to massive old beams and the patina of age on the floor tiles. The town is gorgeous to wander around and would be fabulous for wine lovers.
The shower is in a bath and a bit of a tight squeeze so might be an issue for those with mobility problems.

Nice place great within the walled town. Dinner menu was grand and wi e selection good.
The waitress at dinner was the star member of staff
Very few staff, we had a nice welcome but after that not too much to say. We're not invited to visit the cellar etc and €16.00 for breakfast Mad money.
Felt disengaged from the staff and hotel. When we were leaving there was no interaction with a ybody except a lady to take our key

Great location. Easy parking and walking into the walled town. Room was comfortable. Staff was friendly. Had dinner at the restaurant one night and it was good.

Amazing 16th century building, small but really comfortable room with a nice large bathroom. Very pleasant friendly reception including a glass of their home made wine. Delicious food in the restaurant
Nothing but because of the age and quirkiness of the property It might not be suitable if you have mobility issues.

authentic and clean
I like it all

Rosemarie was polite, helpful and always had a pleasant smile. She was eager to share the bodega’s history and its wines. Our room overlooked the courtyard where a few vats barrels were stored - very authentic. We could smell the wine as soon as we entered our hotel.
The hotel was rustic so washroom was clean but old, and shower didn’t always have hot water.

Charming historic building with all modern conveniences and a convenient restaurant and private parking space in a picturesque town well located to visit nearby wineries.
Breakfast was only adequate

Laguardia is a spectacular place to visit. The whole area is beautiful surrounded by bodegas (wineries). It is a small walled town with no vehicle access although there are plenty of parking places outside. The town 'sits' on its underground cellars full of wine and are well worth a visit. We did two - bodega el fabulista and bodega mayor de migueloa. Both very good and informative. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes etc, but as expected, most close during the afternoon. Dinner is not entertained until 8pm at the earliest.
Personally I think the hotel was a bit overpriced. The breakfast was awful and not worth paying the extra 11Euros. The main meal on the evening was really really salty - when asked about this, was told that it was 'the way it was there'....? We had earlier had lunch at the cafe next door and that was salty too (literally pink rocks covering everything). We presumed that the two are linked and it was the same chef. Quite disappointed. The hotel was lovely mind. Make sure you pay for the accommodation in Euros. I'm waiting to see as to what currency I was charged as the 'ticket' (receipt) is not clear.

The manager/receptionist is delightful, informative and professional. The town is a gem, and the hotel is located at its heart. Highly recommended.
Everything about the place was wonderful.

Location excellent for those interested in wines, wine is made on the premises and they have cave cellar below. Very interesting.

The Posada is very beautiful and the location is super but we had a very bad experience with the owners.
When we came home at night the door was closed and it was not possible to come in with key and code (some guest closed the door from th inside with a bar). We had to call the police to help us, even when the housekeeper came it was not possible to open. So we had to wait till 3 o glock in the morning till somebodey came with a key and opend the backdoor. But instead of an excause or sorry, the owner yelled at us and accused us, that it was our fault, because we did not take the emergency number. This would have been no fortune anyway! because we would have had to wait almost as long for the man with the key, he needs a 25 minutes drive. And when we talked to the owner next day he shouted, that he is so well known and owns lots of Hotels and a big winery and we would have no chance against him ???? and threw us out instead of a nice sorry! this would have been enough for us. So never again! It is a pity because it is such a nice place.

The staff were extremely helpful, spoke excellent english and nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel is full of character, and a more authentic old-world Spanish experience would be hard to find. The hotel has an excellent restaurant, cellar and lots of quiet comfy areas to sit dotted around the building.
As the building is old and and on many levels, we couldn't connect to the wifi to begin with but the staff got us going in no time by signing on in the main lobby then taking us back to our room. And even better, they showed us up to the roof terrace and lounge where we sat and filled in all the dreaded covid forms for entry to the UK while the sun set over the town. Fantastic.
Couldn't have wished for a better experience.

Nice, quiet location in the center of a beautiful walled town. Large, comfortable room (room 25) on the top floor of a historic mansion. My partner loved opening the huge outer door. Easy walking distance to all the bars, restaurants and attractions. We had a good dinner in the hotel restaurant on our first night. Friendly staff. The town is surrounded by great Rioja vineyards, with visits and tastings easy to arrange. Very helpful Tourist Information office is along the street from the hotel.
The building is on a historic register that apparently doesn't allow lifts, so the upper floors are tough with luggage. Breakfast was OK, but they could provide better meats/cheeses and coffee. It seemed that staff were too busy to offer a second coffee.

Posada Mayor de Migueloa is nicely located in the middle of the Laguardia, a medieval city on the top of a hill, overlooking the la Rioja wineyards and the Cantabrian mountains. Everything is in walking distance (no cars allowed in the city). We enjoyed the breakfast very much too.
