This was our second stay at Bernadette’s beautiful loft. There have been some updates to the residence from our last stay in 2020, but she was still able to keep the cozy cottage feel. The main living space has a comfortable coach that pulls out to a sofa bed with a big flat screen tv that we were able to use and watch Netflix movies as a family. The kitchen has everything you can think of and there is no need to bring anything from home. The loft upstairs has a king size bed that is very comfortable and has amazing bed linens.
The location of the loft is tranquil and away from the busy roads. You will not regret staying at Bernadette’s because she has paid attention to all of the small details that makes this loft a beautiful cozy getaway. Thank you for another wonderful stay!

Quiet setting in the woods filled with the twittering of birds and a rooster. The home is well provisioned, clean, comfortable, and unique. I plan to return next year!

It was a pleasure to stay at Bernadette’s Place
The accommodation had everything you need it was very comfortable had Internet and TV and the bedding was very comfortable. Bernadette has thought of everything and they were very responsive to any small inquiry coming over and rectifying the situation. The cottage is very nicely decorated has a very homey feel and is air-conditioned which was a real plus during our stay when it was very hot. The outdoor shower is a nice touch and the patio was great for having dinner on in the outdoor area. The proximity of the park and the various ponds for freshwater swimming was very nice.

A magnificent stay on the Cape
I've been thinking for days about how to rave about "the barn" without sounding ridiculous. I may, however, not be able to. Every compliment that others have given is spot on. We arrived, in this horrible time of Covid, to a house that was sparkling clean, and we didn't worry for a moment about the nasty virus (and I'm a worrier). We were able to unload our kayaks and park the car in front of them. The interior of the barn is perfect. The kitchen has everything (2 salad spinners!! - I had brought my own because I hate wet lettuce); I was happy, however, that I had brought along one sharp knife. The sofa and large chair in the living space are very comfortable; the choice of DVDs is ridiculous. The table by the window offers beautiful views of the woods . Upstairs, the bed is very comfortable. The bathroom, again spotless, has a window (always a plus), and there is plenty of hot water.
Astoundingly, you can walk one of the many trails directly into Nickerson State Park. A short drive took us there to kayak in Little Cliff Pond and Cliff Pond. I would have been happy just spending time in the fresh water park, but of course, one goes to the Cape to enjoy the National Seashore, where, in October, the water was still warm enough to splash in. On the bay side, going to Rock Harbor at low tide is a must. I had a few questions for Bernadette, which she answered within minutes on most occasions. We certainly will return - we didn't want to leave. Thank you, Bernadette for creating this great space and being such a great host.
Things to recommend (some are Bernadette's**):
1. Walking/hiking in Nickerson State Park
2. Watching the sunset on the bay side
3. Looking for seals on the National Seashore side (they are hard to miss) and jumping in the surf
4. Strolling through Chatham on a rainy day
5. **Getting a 3 pound lobster at Orleans Seafood market and having them steam, crack, and split it
6. **Having dinner at Mahoney's Atlantic Bar and Grill in Orleans
7. Watching the DVD "Made in Dagenham" with Sally Hawkins (a British Norma Rae but based on a true event in the 1960s)
8. Taking a dip in the private-for-residents-and-invited-guests beach at Baker's Pond, a five-minute walk from the house.
9. Visiting the Audobon Sanctuary in Wellfleet, about 20 minutes away.
There are myriad other things to do, but these are what come to mind. Anyway, you'll love it.

Wonderful Stay
The pictures provided were accurate but seeing the barn in person was remarkable. My family had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the beautiful decor and coziness of the barn. They also had everything one needed in the kitchen and throughout the barn. Do not hesitate to stay here and Bernadette is absolutely amazing with her quick response and attention to detail.

Pleasant and convenient
My spouse and I thoroughly enjoyed 5 days at Bridgette’s pleasant barn in Orleans. The barn is convenient Rt 6 and to many places we wanted to visit. It is also clean and well equipped. We enjoyed riding bikes in Nickerson State Park, and on the nearby Cape Cod Bike Trail, and enjoyed the sunset at Skaket Beach. My only suggestion is to stop charging extra for linens, or make it clear on the VRBO site that linens are not provided unless you pay extra.

Wonderful Stay
My husband and I had a fabulous week in Orleans. The home was cosy and comfy with everything we needed. It was spotlessly clean and we felt very safe even during these pandemic times. The location was wonderful, close to 6A, close 6, easy to get to the bayside, easy to get to the Atlantic side. We visited a different beach every day and spent a day floating in .Baker’s Pond. We loved our stay and we’ll be back to stay here again!

The best!
This was exactly what we were looking for. The cabin is perfect, beautifully decorated and Bernadette available for anything we needed. She was really nice, even gave us some of her veggies! We can't wait to go back. Very easy to walk to ponds.
Oh, there is a woodpecker that may wake you uo in the morning. Part of being in nature!

Great escape for swimmers and hikers!
This place is AMAZING. The barn is cozy and funky - love the open layout, big windows, and the mix of modern and antique decor! Between the outdoor grill and kitchen, tasty meals abound. The week we were there was one of the hottest of the summer, so the AC was much appreciated. Being able to hike into Nickerson State Park was awesome - great nature, hiking, and swimming holes - and it was really nice to not have to get in the car for those adventures. When we did get in the car, it was fun to explore the Cape Cod National Seashore. And even though this place is close to Route 6, it still felt nice and quiet. We hope to return soon!

When you walk in you immediately want to get cozy and stay awhile, but first you will want to investigate all of the nice features!

Great option for a family vaca
With all there is to do on Cape Cod all my family was looking for was a clean and comfortable place to call home at a reasonable price. This property delivered and then some. I could not be happier with out experience. The location is off the beaten path and allows for peace and quiet. The upstairs bed is incredibly comfortable and the house is stocked with all the essentials. We ran out of propane for thexample grill one night and the owner was there immediately to replace it. If you're looking to stay on the Cape and don't need to be on the ocean this is a great option.

Clean and Cozy Stay
What an easy and great experience from start to finish. Used the Vrbo app on my phone and found a location & price that for my budget. What a good find this was! Quiet and Cozy little spot in a decent neighborhood with a nice/large yard, backyard dining spot near a clean and new bbq. Yard was filled with flowers and lighting at night for evening dining or lounging. The house was VERY CLEAN! All the rooms were neat and well kept, comfortable beds and closet space. The kitchen was organized and fully loaded with anything one would need to cook. The living room was comfortable with a large TV and cable (only knock was limited channels). Had an easy check in and Lynne was available for the multiple calls I made with questions. Right down the road has multiple dining locations and plenty of sights to see. Cape Cod League baseball is less than 2 miles away if that’s your hobby (Brewster Whitecaps). Thoroughly enjoyed my stay! Will do again! 5 stars for me!

A very pleasant Cape Cod week
Our stay in the “Red Barn” was great. The house was in a wooded area, with lovely bird songs. It was nicely furnished, and had a well equipped kitchen and comfy bed. It is located very near an excellent shopping centre for groceries and wine.

Great visit
My wife and I had a short 2 night stay. Everything was excellent for us. A couple of ponds are a short walk away, one very secluded and great for swimming. Excellent location too, close to Skaket and not far from the lower cape.

Wonderful stay!
The barn was a great stay for my husband and me. We’ve stayed on Cape Cod for many years, and we’ve always liked the Orleans/Eastham area. The barn is close enough to many services, but tucked far enough away from Rt. 6 traffic to be quiet. We also loved having foot access to trails at Nickerson State Park. My husband was able to ride his bike daily, and I was able to hike through the park. It is a relaxing and comfortable respite.

Great Hide Away near everything you need
Perfect little cabin near fresh water ponds, the bay, the ocean and stores. Everything our family of 4 needed to allow us to relax and enjoy the Cape. This is a no frills cabin with everything you will need, including air-conditioning and ceiling fans.
A short hike got us to Higgins pond where we enjoyed a quite day on a sandy beach, under the shade of pine trees. Nothing like swimming in a clear spring fed pond.
Hop on your bikes and enjoy miles of dirt roads and paths through the State Park and even connect with the bike path and head into Orleans (about 3 miles away) for some lunch and ice cream.
Don't be shy, the neighbors you meet on the road and at the beach are locals and very friendly. They will give you some great recommendations of what to do, if your itinerary isn't complete.
Absolutely the PERFECT getaway!

Eclectic yet Sophisticated
I randomly booked our weekend on my lunch break after reading the exceptional reviews and I couldn't agree with them more now that we've gone- The Barn is amazing, sweet and nicely kept, charming but refined. We had pretty overcast weather during our stay. We were already over shopping so we stayed in and took advantage of the surplus of dvd's that are stocked as well as their books-a few good ones about Cape Cod /Orleans history as well as novels, etc. We cooked breakfasts and one dinner which was no problem as there's everything one may need there (sans oven). Even though technically a small space-i think 700 sq.ft., it is perfect for 4 people (even when you're stuck inside because of the weather) :) we really love this place and were sad to go. Definitely plan on going back!

Perfect escape. Nestled back in the woods, provided the perfect atmosphere to relax. Despite the rainy weather, we very much enjoyed our stay here. Cabin is exactly as pictured. It's a beautiful walk down to Baker's Pond. Large open space and expansive windows in the living room provide the perfect setting to sit back, enjoy a cup a coffee, and take in the views. Would highly recommend. Hope to return someday with better weather.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this adorable house. It was exactly as pictured - a perfect cottage for two people. We loved the loft bedroom and the skylight. The outdoor shower was well-maintained, the kitchen was clean and the living room was cozy. Bernadette was very responsive over email and flexible on our check-in time, which we very much appreciated. We would love to come back next year and would recommend to anyone who wants an away-from-it-all Cape Cod experience!

The house is exactly as pictured. The post and beam construction gives a rustic and warm feel. The cathedral window frames the trees on the property without letting you see the neighbors. The kitchen is well equipped and the bed is very comfortable . There is plenty of storage space for your belongings. The best part is that you can walk from the house to Nickerson State Park and Cliff Pond. Highly recommended.

Great location on edge of Nickerson state park and with access to fresh water swimming. Barn is beautiful and well appointed - my teenage boys appreciated the wifi and flat screen tv and movies for the evenings! My husband and I appreciated the large king size bed, many rentals have small beds that we do not fit in. Hope to return soon and spend more time biking in Nickerson!

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The loft bedroom almost gives the feeling of a treehouse. Very restful and the location was convenient to the various places we wanted to visit on the Cape. The owner was prompt and helpful. We definitely recommend this charming VRBO.
