We had a mini family get together to celebrate a birthday. We love playing games and the dining table provided that for us. The house was a perfect choice-off the busy streets, wonderful amenities and had plenty of beds. Our hostess, Darla, was available for questions and concerns. I highly recommend this place!

We enjoyed our stay at the Red Bird Hideaway! The house is spacious, we were 3 adults and 2 teenagers. The backyard is great!
We arrived in the dark so we were not sure where to park the car and enter the house, the parking is actually on the other street, right around the corner.
The host responses were fast, polite and useful.

My family and I our sweet Pooch were looking to get away for the Thanksgiving weekend to rest and unwind.
The Red Bird Hideaway was situated perfectly just a few minutes away from Overlook Park, for a nice walk/hike as well as to get a beautiful view of the lake itself.
We also had various options for dining at our disposal, our family's personal favorites were Granny D's and Wildflour Artisan Bakery & Grill.
The house itself is beautiful and spacious, with that country home comfort that we were looking for. The amenities were great!
We hope to come back again in the future!

Great property! Close to lake and beautiful parks are just a short drive away. Tons to do. The property is so quiet and peaceful at night. House is clean and has everything you need. Couch made an excellent additional bed, you could definitely sleep two people on there.

Lovely Home
We loved staying here. Truly enjoyed the firepit for smores, the hot tub to relax in after the daytime hiking trails nearby, the Natural Caves hike, tubing, and walking San Antonio. LOVED that we could bring our dogs along to enjoy our stay. That meant so much to us.
A special note to dog owners. One of our dogs is, well, a princess who is very sensitive to noises. The first few days she would only snuggle fiercely next to one of us. She wouldn't play with her brother but rarely. Didn't want her usual carrot treats. My daughter saw a mechanical pest sonar thing plugged into the wall over by the dining room table and wondered if that may have something to do with her unusual behavior. I researched it and found that some dogs might be sensitive to the 'unheard by human' sounds it makes. After we unplugged it she definitely was SO much happier and playful. She was back to her usual self. If you find that your dog is not behaving as normal, you might want to unplug this for your pooch.
The only pitfall, and I never did let the owner know, was that the remote control volume and mute buttons do not work on the remote control. Please let the owner know for the next renters.
Again, thank you for sharing your lovely home with us.
Kind regards,
The Plance Family

Great Property
The property was in a good location, The owner had made sure the house was cleaned and sanitized before our arrival. She contacted me and gave me the info to get in the home from the back which had a carport so we didn't have to get wet since it was raining. We enjoyed our stay.

Not Worth the Cost
There were multiple issues with our stay that made for an unpleasant experience. The cable/TV did not work, the hot tub malfunctioned (owner stated she needed to call repairman), the kitchen was not fully stocked, the oven had issues (owner acknowledged that it needed to be replaced)...Listing indicated there was access to the river just two blocks from the house. When asked where, owner indicated that was no longer possible and we would need to drive to river. Very disappointed with condition of property and stay.

Overall Excellent
I want to say that the response from the owner when we needed anything was super quick and within like 3 minutes. It wasn't that anything with property was wrong that we needed, a couple of guests forgot to print out the ticket for a show in Gruene and so I asked how we could that done. She was more than willing with information and suggestions and even was going to go out of her way to go into work and print if plan A didn't pan out. If I had to pick anything for improvement it would be the hot tub did not get hot enough, it seemed to never get over 91 degrees. It could be that we didn't know how to work it right and it wasn't a big deal that we didn't use it but for like 5 minutes because it was too cold. Place is as advertised and was clean and those were my main selling points and the hot tub wasn't a big deal to us in the end.

My family gathered there to celebrate my daughter's golden birthday. The house was very comfortable. We played corn hole in the back yard. Enjoyed board at the nice sized table, which fit 8 grown adults. The sofa was very comfortable, and also was able to seat many of us together. On the second night, my daughters friend and two children join us for the celebration. It got late, but we were able to accommodate their stay as well, as we had an air mattress we used in the living room. Still with a lot of space. We enjoyed a short trip to Canyon Lake and brunch at Wild Flour.I will definitely give this property two thumbs up and highly recommend it!

Girls Weekend @ Canyon Lake
This house was amazing! Darla was so easy to work with and had everything clean and ready to go early. House was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. It was a 2 minute drive to the river entrance, a 4 minute drive to the amphitheater and a beautiful 15 minute drive to downtown New Braunfels. The neighborhood was quite and felt very safe. This house was an absolute hidden gem and we will definitely be back in the future.

We enjoyed it, but the upkeep was lacking.
We enjoyed the space and the outside area, but things around the house need to be kept up with better. The fridge didn't work. It wouldnt keep anything cold. I'm not sure if it was off before we checked in and took awhile to get cool but we had to put things in the freezer to keep cool. Only one light in the bathroom worked so it was dim, the rocking chair up front was broken, the sink shoots water out when you turn it on. It was just lacking in upkeep. The we enjoyed ourselves and the hot tub.

Updated, Spacious, & Comfy Home 🏡
We had a very relaxing Easter weekend getaway. The kiddos loved the hot tub. Go eat at Granny D’s!!! We also attended Mass at St. Thomas on the hill. Beautiful church and welcoming parishioners. The home is roomy and modern. Great price for the area & location. The owners are very nice and communicative. Thank you for a perfect weekend!

The place was nice. We had a great time in the Hot tub! If I could recommend any thing it would be to replace the stove because we wanted to use the oven but it was too nasty could not use.

Overall nice getaway home
Our family, overall, enjoyed the house, the Hot Tub and most definitely Granny D’s restaurant!! We were disappointed that the river and lake were not actually in walking distance as mentioned bc we had hyped our boys up that it was and they looked forward to being able to walk down to enjoy it. We could see the river through the neighborhood homes but even after driving around, it was not easily accessible. The Hot tub was great and we utilized that as our water entertainment!!. The home was spacious, equipped with most everything we needed and overall was a decent stay for our weekend getaway! The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was spacious for our night of cooking. I’d recommend for a weekend of relaxation if you’re not looking for much to do in the area, but relax. Most of the locals said there wasn’t a whole lot in the area to get out and do! You can tell the owners take pride in their property!
Thank you for everything!!

Total disappointment
Brought my husband, his best friend w/ his wife and our very close friends to celebrate their 50th. First off the hot tub had so much bleach( not chlorine) it took my husbands breath away and even after airing it out we never got to use it because it would not get above 96 degrees until the morning we were leaving. Second of all the ffloors were so fitlthy all of our socks were black. As far as sleep none was had due to the horrible mattresses. Two felt like a slab of rock and the other had a valley in the middle . The master bedroom and bathroom were as cold as a refrigerator ( it was 33 at night) As far as doing any laundry DON’T! The dryer doesn’t stop when you open the door. There was trash still in the trash can from New Years when we got there. I planned this weekend and feel horrible about the experience we had. The cleaning company needs to be fired ( if there is one) No lake access that was stated. We are hard working Christian people and I have never had to write such a negative review but I really think we should be compensated for our stay. I felt guilty taking our friends money for 2 nights of no sleep. One of them slept on the couch due to the horrible bed. I’m very doubtful that I will ever use VRBO which is a huge disappointment because we like to get away from the hustle and bustle.

Good experience
Enjoyed the well equipped home. Grandkids enjoyed playing in the large front yard, hot tub, and s'mores on the firepit. Bring meds if you are allergic to cedar.

Perfect Property for Us!
This home was the PERFECT choice for our early family Christmas get together. The grand kids loved the hot tub and quiet neighborhood to ride their new bikes, and the bedrooms were a really nice size with queen beds for the adults and enough room for all the suitcases and gifts. The home was clean and the host had even decorated for Christmas, giving it a very homey feeling. It even had an electric fireplace. We enjoyed the huge yard and fire pit and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. The host was available and was very gracious. We would certainly recommend this property to our family and friends.

Cute house
We had a group of 8 ladies for a girls weekend. The house had plenty of space and was comfortable. The only issue we really had was we couldn’t get hot water in the kitchen and the oven temperature seems to be off a bit.
