Service was very slow and erratic. Pub noise very loud in the room, though very peaceful after closing time.

Sound insulation not good. We can hear ppls talking outside the room even outside the bldg.

Our second stay. Food is exceptional. Staff are friendly and helpful. Lovely decor and very comfortable bed.

Initial welcome was lovely, so friendly. Shown to our room, it was compact yet had everything we needed for a 2 night stay. Bed was comfy and the ensuite had a great size shower. Having been shown the other rooms, the suite is lovely as is Masons, we were in Bloom. Food at dinner was very good, delighted to find there was a choice of champagne by the glass. Breakfast was good - cereal, toast and full English or lighter options if that was too much. It is a very popular place and was very busy both on the Friday and Saturday so we booked dinner in advance, highly suggest doing that. Had a great ambiance.
A make up mirror in the bathroom would have been useful. As all the rooms are named after gins, it might be nice to have a gin treat in the room. I have stayed somewhere that did that, a tiny bottle of gin with mixer and nice crystal style glasses, was a nice touch.

Didn't like to see pubic hair in the bath
Didn't like being woken up at 5am by the fire alarm

A great country pub in a lovely Derbyshire village. The staff were all excellent, very attentive and friendly, even during a very busy evening meal. The room was very clean, with just about all you could want.
Our room was over the kitchen / dining area, and being a light sleeper I didn't have the greatest of nights sleep. I would stay again, but request the other side of the building to the Bloom room.

fantastic staff, superb food and comfortable room.
noisy internal corridor doors
