We were a group of 9 friends that stayed at Paul’s house and we had a great time! The house is big enough for everyone, very clean and close to everything you need. Would definitely go back and recommend to anyone! Paul is a great host who was available, kind and flexible.

We arrived early and the host let us in at noon. The experience went down quickly from there. The old house had been cleaned, but we found it to be run down and not well maintained. The outside needs to be scraped/painted badly and the roof needs to be replaced. Plastic was placed over the TV room addition. All of the windows and doors have issues of one sort or another. There are also issues with peeling wallpaper, paint, drywall and plaster. To top it off, we found spiders and earwigs in the bathrooms as well as a couple of friendly mice on the main level. We sprayed the baths, and the host sent someone for the mice. If you plan on sitting on the porch and having quiet time, it will not happen as you are on a very busy intersection with lots of traffic and noise. Despite all of the above, we still had a good time and made the best of the bad environment. It is a short walk to the beach and across the street from a little restaurant. Our summary... This house needs to be removed from Vrbo and renovated!!!

The house was very nice and was perfect for us. Great location, great communication with the owner. Everything was great.

The house reminded us of the set of Murder She Wrote, replete with fine antiques, vintage artwork, and beautiful woodwork. The house had a mysterious vibe and mystery of days of yore. Lots of stairs if you are concerned for youngsters or elderly. The kitchen is tiny, but adequate. Loved the dining room. The beds were good, but we had to hunt for linens. The lights flickered a lot. We contacted the owner and he responded.

This was such a beautiful older home with so much history! Every where you looked it told a story. There were four us, each having our own room. We absolutely will go back. Thank you Paul for having us. Truly a hidden gem.

A fun, funky old building. Worked fine for 5 women, each with their own room and bed.
Would have appreciated hand soap at the sinks and coffee filters.

We loved our stay in this Victorian home. The home was even nicer than the photos showed
Perfect location right near the water. Also great restaurant right across the street.

We had a great time visiting this place. With 5 bedrooms, it is ideal for a large group. The house is 10 minutes walk to York’s beach. It has everything needed. Would go again next year!

We had to vacate the property after one night because the cellar was filled with open bags of mothballs. We arrived around 5:30 pm in the pouring rain otherwise we would have left immediately. The toxic fumes were seeping through the vents. Several of my friends had to use their inhalers to get through the night. The host said he could resolve the problem by removing the mothballs. There is no way the fumes could be eliminated. My friends said many of the glasses in the butlers pantry were filthy dirty. I would not recommend this house to anybody.

We had a wonderful time at Paul's home. Large enough to gather other family members in the area and a great porch! We had a huge storm come through on Friday night and lost power but Paul contacted us right away and brought over candles and a flashlight. Thankfully it was restored in a few hours.
Convenient, walking distance to town and to the beach just north of the house. We would happily stay there again!

I am so glad we picked this property for a vacation with my five sisters.the house was very comfortable and the wrap around porch was the best place to spend time with my sisters. Beautiful home. With six ladies staying in the house the three bathrooms came in handy. So much in the area to see. Loved the seafood restaurant across the street. I emailed the host Paul a few times with some questions and he got right back to us. Thank you for a great vacation. Would love to rent again next year. Deb

If you are looking for something with "yesteryear" charm and character, then this is your place! We had 2 parents and 5 adult children to accommodate and enjoyed having enough room to feel comfortable and spread out. The large porch was great for our "mini wedding" and sitting out in the evening. Perfect location to get to beach and other area activies. Perfect value!!!

Colleagues and my adult daughter needed a 4-bedroom house and this house was perfect. Great location for our needs. Well stocked for making meals, although our plans did not include this. Plus, a short walk to the shore for beautiful sunrises

Spent a long weekend in York at an old Victorian house and had a great time. Tons of room to move around and you can hear and see the ocean from some rooms. Comfortable walk to downtown York and very close walk to Cape Neddick Beach. Everything was very clean and well stocked. Spent most of the time on the awesome porch (with a hammock). The owner Paul was very attentive and accommodating.

Stayed at this location from Saturday to Wednesday. It was just as relaxing as described! Check in process was easy and Paul was very responsive. We were 2 couples, so we knew we’d have plenty of space.
The inside was beautiful and relaxing. There was space for us to cook, play board games, and a room in the back that was cooler than the rest that we could chill in. The house was lived in, with some peeling wallpaper and cosmetic things, but they were minor and didn’t bother us. There were 3 bathrooms, the main one of which ended up not flushing on our last day or two due to broken chain in the tank. I messaged Paul and he got back to me so quick. There wasn’t a resolution during our stay, but he seemed on top of fixing it as soon as possible. We had 2 other bathrooms to use so it wasn’t a huge deal.
It was very hot and humid most of the days but Paul provided plenty of fans that we moved around to the rooms that we used and created a cross breeze. There are outlets on the porch so we put fans out there when we were enjoying gas porch. That really helped during the hot nights.
The porch is an incredible spot when the weather is nice. We spent much of our time out there on the hammock, chatting, enjoying the weather.
The location is perfect in that it is within walking distance to Cape Neddick Beach, which we went to on a cool evening and wasn’t crazy packed. About 5 minutes away by car is Short Sands beach, which has a lot of parking for a low price ($2/hour). We got to short sands around 9:30am each morning and people were there, but it wasn’t packed until later. The area has typical beach-town things within walking distance of the beach. We also made our way to Nubble Lighthouse and Long Sands beach within 15 minutes.
The driveway is difficult to see at first, but there was enough for 2 cars in that area, with another spot for 2 on the side. It wouldn’t be a great place to have a lot of cars as the front of the house is on a busy street. Its directly across from the Shore Road Restaurant, which was great to have so close. It was loud on the weekend nights because of that, but nothing too crazy that we couldn’t sleep.
All-in-all, we were incredibly pleased with this spot and enjoyed a nice vacation! We balanced going out/doing stuff with enjoying each others’ company at the house. The little imperfect things didn’t hinder our trip and we appreciated Paul’s responsiveness. Thanks for a great stay, Paul!

This house was perfect for my family
5 bedrooms 3 full baths. Kitchen was a little on the smaller side but very doable, dining room fit all 10 of us comfortably.
The porch was the favorite place to hang out after our outings. Very close to the beaches and close to a very cute town.
Love the fact that I didn't have to pack linens or bath towels. Washer/dryer was definitely a plus.
Owner was very accommodating dropping off extra fans and paper towels and TP.
I would definitely rent this house again.

Great Place to stay in York
Our family of 10 had a great time and stay in York at this place. Plenty of room for everyone. The best feature was the large porch where we could all hang out. Place was very clean and beds were comfy. The location was great. It was a short walk to a local beach or little further walk or quick drop off to Short Sands and the village. Nice place across the street to get a lobster roll or other seafood. We would definitely stay here again.

Great location
This house was a great location to Short Sands and Long Sands Beach, Nubble Lighthouse, and Cape Neddick. The house is older and could use an update on furniture/decor, but it had character which fit our family perfectly. The owner was easy to connect with when we had questions; very accommodating. We would definitely consider coming back to spend more time in York.

Fun in York!
We had a great week! The house was very large and the property is in a great location. It’s a short walk to Cape Neddick Beach and about 12 minutes to walk to Short Sands. Thank you!

Great location and porch
The house smelled clean and was spotless on our arrival! Adequate supplies, fans, kitchen supplies, etc. The house is massive and the furniture matched the home. It truly brought gone with the wind to life.
The location is amazing. Although the end of the road beach is private it doesn’t matter. You are in between 3 amazing beaches. We had so many walks, bike rides and jogs. Light houses, history, swimming, etc.
We had a few rainy days and it didn’t even matter because the deck was amazing to sit on and listen to the rain.

We had a lovely time. The house was spacious and had such character. We spent much of our time on the wrap around porch. Paul was great to communicate with. We hope to come again another time.

Lovely House!
We had a great week. The front porch was everyone’s favorite place - just lovely (especially the hammock). Paul was very responsive and answered all inquiries very thoroughly. House very clean and advertised exactly as listed. With no AC we were lucky to have a cool week because the third floor bedroom would have been uncomfortable. Paul did provide fans for all bedrooms so we were comfortable and set up very well. All bedrooms very comfortable and more than enough bathrooms. Grill on site was perfect as was the washer/dryer. Great location for biking into town or walking to a small beach in Cape Neddick. Thank you!

We absolutely loved our stay at Paul’s house in York! It was very spacious, beautiful porch that we spent most of our time on, and an easy 15 min walk to short sands beach. Although the weather wasn’t in our favor this weekend we still had a great time and would definitely stay here again!

Perfect family get away
This historic Victorian home was exactly what we expected and very convenient to everything. Paul was great to work with and very helpful. The house was clean and worked great for our family. This is an older 1800’s house with much of the detail and craftsmanship of the time period. It has its quirks, lots of stairs and some windows that stick and needs a few repairs here and there but again, it is what I expected and we have rented many vacation homes over the years.

What A Great Labor Day Weekend
We would like to thank Paul for being so accommodating. The photos do not do the place justice. Absolutely homey & cozy. A weekend of 4 couples, just hanging out, enjoying the dining table to share laughs, fun & make memories. Thank you & look forward to staying again in the future.

Lovely Beach Vacation
My family and I go to York often, our group was larger this time and we were in need of more space. Well, this home delivered! We had 9 adults and 2 children, and there was plenty of room to move around and be comfortable. I loved the way the house was decorated, it was charming with all the creature comforts you could need. It was only a short walk to Cape Neddick and downtown Short Sands was nearby too! Paul was great, very easy to communicate with, and answered any inquiries quickly. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking for a relaxing beach vacation, close enough to everything, but not in the middle of the chaos.

Hard to believe we slept here.
Hard to believe the reviews. On so many levels we were disappointed. Almost all of the furniture was stained and dirty. The linens are in need of replacement. We could not find a blanket that we felt comfortable using. They were too stained and smelled, so we slept without them.
When we arrived we had to dry sheets for the beds. The washing machine was stuffed with sheets and towels. It took us 5 loads of laundry to finally get dry sheets to make our beds. Mind you we had to match the size sheets to the size beds. All this was done after dinner. We finished about midnight.
I question HomeAway's vetting of properties. I also question the owner's ability to provide a decent lodging for his guests. At this point in time, I would not recommend either.

The perfect spot for a large family who wants to be close, but not on top of York Beach!
Our grown children came from all over the country to gather together for our annual vacation. This house was the perfect place for that. Lots of room to gather and yet have our own space. The porch was so relaxing. The kitchen looked small in the picture but we ended up having plenty of room to prepare meals. Having three bathrooms was a plus, although the shower in the third floor was a challenge. Fresh flowers in many of the rooms. Paul checked in (via text) several times to make sure all was well. He was very accommodating. Highly recommend this home!

Not Your Cookie Cutter Rental
What a wonderful place to stay while we attended my daughter's wedding with family and friends. So many spacious rooms on 3 floors; the 3rd floor master bedroom with small porch, a view of the ocean and private bath was a real treat. We appreciated there being enough bathrooms so there was no waiting time, a fully equipped kitchen we regrettably did not have time to take advantage of, and curated decor.
The farmer's porch really rocks the place - we spent as much time as we could catching up and reading there when the rainy weather permitted. The nearby beaches were easy to walk to and it was a quick trip to Ogunquit for bigger beaches, great restaurants and cultural events.
Paul was a great host. He accommodated our requests and added nice touches like fresh flowers in the downstairs rooms. We would definitely stay again!
