We had a calm night with good interiors.
Thank you for the great experience.

This cabin is located near Portland and has easy access to multiple places in Maine. The beauty is you feel you are secluded and away from the city. The property is quiet, beautiful and peaceful. The host was great and quick to respond.

Great place to get away
My girlfriend and I stayed here for a week, and it was great! John was incredibly communicative and responsive, the place was as nice as advertised, and we had a lovely week hanging out and going into Portland to get good food. Highly recommend!

This is such a perfect place! Close to airport and downtown Portland!! Extremely relaxing an quiet.
Probably one of the cleanest rentals we have ever stayed in. Everything we needed kitchen was also well equipped. We headed out daily to a new adventure. Five Islands Lobster house, cabbage island clam bake,Kennybuckport, Cgonquait, and Becky’s diner among many other places just a delightful trip. John is very knowledgeable and helpful. Thanks for everything.

4 Night Get Away
The property is lovely, the accommodations very clean and all the needed amenities were provided. The place is quite adorable, but not for 4 adults. The pullout sofa was not comfortable for 2 adults and we had to use 2 blow up mattresses for 3 of the 4 nights, which were in the way during the daytime. There is no air conditioning, and only two windows in the living room and two in the bedroom, that open. No cross ventilation, and no ceiling fans to keep air flow. So it was very hot and stuffy. Cooler temps would have been welcomed. Also, I would recommend that the homeowner do something to improve the lighting in the place, because it is very dark, daytime and evening. When my son came over in the evening to visit (he's 46 years old), the homeowner came out to the bonfire and wanted to know who the "extra people" were and then he informed us we had to let him know before we had any visitors......it put a damper on the time away, which we were so looking forward to. We were also told to turn down the fire, which was well within the confines of the firepit. We are 4 adult women in our 60's who certainly are capable of handling a firepit, after checking a water source, just in case!
I highly recommend this place for two adults, and maybe one small child.

Maine getaway
House was very clean and comfortable, very well appointed, and close enough to all we wanted to do. John was a gracious host and very responsive to minor questions. Would definitely return for a stay as it’s close to my son and much nicer than a hotel room. Thanks.

Quiet & Great Location
We enjoy a quiet stay outside the city. But at the same time, easy access to Portland, Kennebunkport, great restaurants, groceries, etc. John was quick to respond to questions and helpful with suggestions.

We left the property after being greeted by the owner who informed us that he was staying on the property. His part of the house was attached through a locked door in The bedroom. It was a nice property but we did not feel comfortable. The listing says you will have 13 acres to yourself. It was a bit deceptive.

Cozy rustic cabin!
Close to Portland but has a very tranquil setting in the woods. We had turkeys come visit during the day!

Loved staying here, would highly recommend!
My boyfriend and I stayed at John’s for July 4th weekend. The place was exactly as listed - super cute, spotlessly clean, very quiet, and we just loved it. It was our first time in Portland, Maine and we would definitely return and stay at John’s. He is also an excellent host and great communicator. Thanks so much, John!

Amazingly Well Appointed House
We have stayed in homeaway properties all over the world and this cabin was by far the most comfortable place we have ever stayed in. Everything possible amenity you could want for a stay in Maine was accounted for. The kitchen was amazing- including frosted beer glasses, wine and champagne glasses, ice packs, utensils, spices and snacks. Every where you look the owners have provided for what you could need. Extra towels, toiletries , plenty of light and storage. An enormous TV with cable, fire pit, picnic table. If you can think of it, it is there for you in the house. The cabin is very coxy and charming as well. If you stay here, I promise you won't be disappointed. It is a real find!!

Simply and Oasis away from the crowds and Into the moonlight.
What a fabulous cabin, bigger than anticipated, very clean and well thought out. The location is perfect , you can have fun at the beach, light houses and come back and light a fire pit and enjoy the pool during the day. Wild life and nature right outside your door. Simply a very relaxing stay with great friendly Hosts. Will be back again for sure ::))

Location and Privacy
We loved staying at this cabin. It was beautiful, clean, and came with everything you could possibly need during a vacation. It was only 20 minutes from Portland, making it a convenient spot to get to all the city has to offer, while still getting to stay in a beautiful, quiet, and private location. While we were there, the property manager stayed in a secluded part of the property and never bothered us while we were there (we never even saw him and enjoyed the privacy and feeling as if we had the place to ourselves). I’d say the only negative part of our experience was the lack of communication in the beginning. We were originally told we could check in between 3pm and 7pm. We told the property manager we would check in around 4:30, but since we were traveling from far away, our time of arrival got pushed back to 5:15 due to stopping for bathrooms, food, gas, etc. We thought this would be fine since it was still WELL before the 7pm check in deadline, but we got a pretty harsh response from the landlord telling us that we better be there by 5:15 SHARP... this worried us greatly because we weren’t sure if that would be how the rest of our stay would go, but for the most part, it was fine thereafter.

Wonderful place in Westbrook, ME
From start to finish our stay at Wind-a-brook was wonderful. We loved the rustic cabin feel of the interior with the large picture windows. The furnishings were comfortable and the bed was perfect. It was like being in a private property on a lovely meadow. John met us upon arrival and pointed out the features of the unit and answered our questions about what the do and see and where to eat in the Westbrook/Portland area. Kudos to John and Julie for the amenities provided. The kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom had extra towel and supplies. We award John and Julie extra points for providing a full set of towels (including a face towel) for each guest. We were able to find everything we needed during our stay.

Beautifull, quiet and private....
We utilize home away quite frequently. Generally speaking the photos of offerings are generally optimized with wide angle views or enhancements. This unit exceeded our expectations in scope and beauty. It is rustic without being primitive. Full serviced kitchen and views out the abundant windows to die for. On a rainy day we sipped our coffee and enjoyed the beautiful fall oaks and rural views. A red fox sauntered by followed shortly by a few curious wild turkeys. This unit is connected to the owner's residence but the privacy allowed vetoed that description. In fact the only impact their nearness brought was the two times we needed them. Prompt, polite response was given when we needed utensils for cracking our steamed lobster and once for restoring our tv after I used the wrong remote to change channels. No traffic or human noise interrupted our two night stay. Reasonably priced and a definite option on our next stay in the Portland area.

Absolutely fantastic!
From beginning to end (three nights), our stay was far better than expected! John and Julie are the perfect hosts. John met us upon check-in and gave us a tour of the property (very nice and secluded); gave us instructions on the pool, hot tub, fire pit and charcoal grill. This is a place we could live in, so quiet and peaceful yet only 15 minutes or so from downtown Portland!
On our last night, we had chef John prepare us a lobster bake (nominal fee); lobster, we opted for mussels over clams, corn on the cob and a french baguette! John knows his way around a kitchen! I wish I could figure out how to post pictures in a Homeaway review to give the meal justice.
We would definitely stay again! I can't recommend this property HIGHLY ENOUGH!

Lovely little cabin, super clean, all amenities included. You feel like you are in the country yet so close to everything. Be sure to eat at Lenny’s bar and grill with live bands nightly. Owner John super nice man. Very enjoyable stay.

Great Spot!
Although it was only for the one night, we had a great stay at Wind-A-Brook Lodge. Our host, John, was very nice and provided all we could ever need and more. The home is very spacious, and we never felt aware of the fact that the cabin was connected to the main house. We were visiting friends in Portland, and it was a very quick drive to meet them in town for dinner. I wish we could have spent more time in this place. It would be nice to cook a meal in the well appointed kitchen and enjoy it outside in the beautiful, wooded yard. Highly recommend.
