Lovely vacation to the beach. House was a short walk from the beach with friendly neighbors. Got to enjoy the fireworks on the beach for the 4th.

There is a private trail going down to the beach. We walked it twice a day with our dog.

Enjoyed the amenities, being able to cook in a clean kitchen is great!
The beds were very comfortable even the hide-a-bed sofa was good.
The one drawback is the yard full of goatshead weeds with stickers. They stuck to our shoes and were tracked into the house where we were going barefoot and suffered numerous stickers in our feet. My dog got them stuck in his paws too. Those stickers HURT!!

Cute little house with easy access to the beach. Nice quiet neighborhood and close to town. Will be back

The location (called Spyglass Dunes by actual rental company) was convenient. My teen was staying at a state park down the road. It allowed me to be close by but still give my teen autonomy. The ocean is a fairly short walk down a gravel road, but you can't see it until you get to the end of the road and over the dunes. The property had a mildly homelike feel. It wasn't cleaned that well. Some of the plates and cups in the cupboards were dirty. The dehumidifier machine next to the front door was full of water and not working until I figured out that the water reservoir needed emptying. The coffee maker had old grounds in it from the prior client. The carpet had sharp plant burrs in it. We took our shoes off when we went inside and our socks picked up sharp burrs right away. It became clear that shoes were needed to walk on the carpet. This isn't the property's fault, but the mosquitos were relentless! We had to hurry from the car to the house or we were covered in mosquitos. I bought Deet down the road in Westport and that made things more tolerable. There isn't adequate lighting around the property. There is just one working porch light at the front door but none at the back. The adjacent property is sketchy looking and with no lighting around the property it doesn't feel that safe. Staying here wasn't a bad experience, but we wouldn't stay here again. We would stay in the area again.

I rarely like to give less than good reviews, but this poor place needs some serious help. It feels there was/is no concern for the appointments inside the home. It's a hodge/podge of everything from a low end thrift store......mis-matched everything: Bedding, towels, dishes, furniture, all around decor.
Upon arriving, the home had an odor that needed windows open to help flow the odor out. There was already a window open by the front door with an air purifier adjacent. (Bedroom window was open too). The yard is not maintained, therefore "seasonal" goat heads or burrs are EVERYWHERE. You cannot walk barefoot let alone let your pet walk through the yard. In less than a few minutes of letting our dog go outside, I had to help him 3 times get the burrs out of his feet. We then had to keep ONLY to the gravel road for him to potty. It wasn't possible to use the yard whatsoever. I called the HOST who said I needed to call VRBO, who said I needed call the HOST. Complete run around. Then it was too late to contact anyone. An email was received apologizing for the "dry" yard. It was so very disappointing to stay 5 days and can't go in the yard that is "PET FRIENDLY". Unfortunately, given it's high season, there wasn't anywher else to stay. We grinned and bared it and chalked it up to one of life's little adventures. ASIDE from the house, we had a GREAT time crabbing, sunning on the beach, trying all the local chowders and meeting up with great friends!

Me and my family (including our doggie) had a great time. The proximity to the beach was perfect and house itself was fit all our needs. Thanks again for our wonderful beach vacation!

This was our second stay at this property, and we had a great time! The kitchen has an interesting assortment of equipment (no liquid measures or sheet pans, but 6 different pairs of grilling tongs for example) but that's pretty standard for a rental house. If you're planning to cook a lot, maybe bring your favorite tools with you like we've learned to do.
There was a bunch of work happening at the next house over, with a lot of noise, but that isn't in the owner's control. Thankfully there's a sizeable lawn between the houses so it wasn't unbearable, anyway.

Everything was really good. I would suggest a new coat of paint on the interior.

This is our second stay and we love it here. Close to the beach, clean, plenty of space to cook and lounge. There is even a fish cleaning station outside. We will definitely return!

Had a short notice visit to the beach for clamming and crabbing. This place has everything we needed. Location is great too.

It was easy check in, but a little hard to find the place at night. While there was plenty of room for us, the beds were uncomfortable. Aside from the spiders in the bathroom the rest of the property was bug free and clean.

We enjoyed our stay. It's not a fancy place but it's cosy and comfy and perfect to relax! The walk to the beach is not long. We liked the layout and could see that it would be great for a larger family group. It felt like visiting a grandparent at a beloved vacation home.

We loved the Privacy and the access to the beach. Bedding is a little outdated in the Master bedroom and the bed is a little hard for my likings. Could use a good deep clean. Overall we wouldn’t definitely stay again if they would have us

We had a great time. The location was perfect for "getting away from it all," yet close enough to travel quickly to the beach, restaurants, etc. Very cozy and comfortable living space. I would highly recommend this property!

Great private getaway
A very nice place, private, quiet and comfortable. All the amenities needed for a Beach walking Vacation. The only thing I would have liked is a firmer bed.
Personal preference.

Warm & welcoming
Our stay was nice, the rental property was cute & comfortable, it's not the biggest or the nicest but it served it's purpose. When we arrived the home was warm which was very nice. The couch & bed were comfortable, the bed was very firm which I liked alot (my fiance isn't a fan of firm mattresses so he had trouble sleeping on it). There were filled ice trays in the freezer which I appreciated a lot! The tv had cable & internet so we could watch our favorite shows in the evening. Unfortunately there is only a tv in the living room not the bedrooms, we usually like to watch tv in bed after dinner not a big deal though. The house was stocked with all necessary equipment for preparing meals (except the food of course) & it had a working dishwasher, which is always a plus. The house was generally clean, the floors & countertops were recently cleaned but the little details you normally get from a deap clean weren't there. The walls had dirt & smudges on them, there was bits of what looked like food splattered on the dining area walls. Also there was a heavy smell if an older woman's perfume, reminded me of a senior living home smell. I have a sensitivity to strong smells so it made me a bit sick. The location is nice, it's kinda in the middle of nowhere but only a ten minute walk to the beach. There is one convenience store close by but otherwise it's a 30+ minute drive to reach any big stores, fastfood or gas. There was only one other house on the street which was nice for privacy but said house was very unkept, cluttered & dirty with several dilapidated RV's on the property. It looked like the kind of house only drug addicts could stand to live in which of course made for a bit if discomfort especially at night. Overall a nice stay.

So close to the water!
Our stay was comfortable and the house had plenty of room. The ocean was a short walk away and most of it was on level footing. It was a nice place to spend time with family.

Great location if you like to walk on the beach!
Highly recommend this place- walk to the beach was amazing. The master bed was pretty uncomfortable, but other than that the stay was great!

Comfortable cottage
In need of cosmetic updates and a fold containing local areas of interest, but everything works well and the place was immaculately clean. Quiet. State parks and beautiful beaches within a few minutes drive. Can walk to a public beach but beach access is blocked by a private driveway gate and felt a little uncomfortable sneaking around it (though we did without reprecussions).

Fun Weekend
This was a great little house to stay for a weekend of razor clam digging. The kitchen was well appointed and everything kept neat and clean. We even saw 3 deer a couple of time in the morning and evening. We'll definitely be back.

Wonderful house close to beach.
This was such a great stay. The house had everything we could want in a beach vacation house. It was very walkable to the beach via the private path. I was able to tow a 4 year, an infant, a dog, and a beach wagon with no issues.
There are burrs around the ground but wear your shoes and watch your dogs. Will stay there again.
If the owners ever want to sell please let me know!

Private, quiet get away
We enjoyed this quiet little house surrounded by a large grassy yard and short walk to the beach. The kitchen was well equiped with pretty much anything you could need. And the kids enjoyed the puzzles and games in the evening. The kitchen and greatroom have a nice open feel. A couple of quibbles: We were mistakenly told there were no outside hoses to wash sand off shoes and gear, but rest-assured there are hoses for that. Also, we were a little unsure of the beach access due to the locked gate and no trespassing signs. From the aerial view of the property, it looks like you can drive at least as far as the dunes. Since no one had informed us about a locked gate along the track, we weren't sure if the signs were aimed at any and all going down that driveway just past the house, or just random people off the highway looking for beach access. Aside from those minor things, our stay was enjoyable and we'd definitely rent it again in the future.

Pictures online don't do it justice. This was a wonderful place to stay. It was clean, close to amenities, and all was in working order. Watch out for the burs in the yard. They're pokey.

Peace and Quiet!
This property is exactly as advertised. Although it is a bit dated, it was comfortable, easy access to the beach and SOOO private. There was plenty of space to have a fire in the pit and roast s'mores, play ball with the dogs, and set up a volleyball net. Really liked the privacy and the management company was very accommodating.

Nice windy weekend!
Overall the stay was great. Everything we needed. Master bedroom mattress could use replacing, it is very hard. We ended up putting the odd shaped mattress pad on it. I sleep on the sofa, it was far more comfortable. Very peaceful and quiet. Just what we needed.

5 stars, the price was unbeatable for a January weekend booking.
Had a great time, this location is great. This is a very cozy house! The grill did not have propane, but the kitchen was adequately equipped regardless. Will definitely consider coming back here.

cute property with easy access to beach
It was such a cute place and the beach was so easy to get to . Lots of pots and pans to cook with . That was great ! It was cozy and the beds were comfortable which doesn’t always happen. Could have been a little cleaner in kitchen area and dinning area . With Covid and all , somethings were missed and we had to do a little cleaning before we settled in . Would definitely rent this unit again ❤️

Thanks BeachyDay for another great stay
Easy access to nearby shops, town (Westport), parks, and other recreational opportunities. Spyglass Dunes is still located back off the main street just far enough to feel secluded and private.
The lot has plenty of space for parking with a private trail that leads you straight to the often empty beach.
In the event everyone wants to stay in due to the liquid sunshine that frequents the area there is just enough to keep everyone entertained. A book shelf of board games, books, and other things to help pass the time and the clouds.
We always enjoy our stay at Spyglass Dunes and will be back again! Thanks BeachyDay for another great stay.

Great getaway vacation property
Great place to share memories with family/friends. Extremely close to the beach as well. Spiky things in the yard were not that bad as long as you are careful about not bringing them inside.
