The building looked unassuming from the outside, but once you're inside, it's a beautiful combination of traditional and modern architecture. Our room was very nice and spacious with separate rooms for bed, living room, bathroom and toilet.. there's even a small garden in the middle. You can unwind and relax in a lounge called Irori lounge that offers free snacks and drinks, available for 24 hours, and you get a bowl ochazuke for late night snacks served in your room. We had breakfast included in our package, which was an Irori style breakfast where part of the food was cooked fresh right in front of you with charcoal, we chose wagyu for our main dish, and it was delicious! But what blown us away was their amazing hospitality!!! The level of service and attention to detail were outstanding. Ayaka looked after us during our stay, we had a nice chat with her when we had cold sake in the lounge before dinner. She listened to our stories about our honeymoon, our long journey in Japan, and my love for Studio Ghibli. When we're back from dinner and took us to our private onsen, which was amazing and very relaxing and you should definitely try it if you stayed here, not only she had prepared us some Japanese sweets and cold drinks, but a note with a little honeymoon gifts for us to use in Tokyo and she even fold Totoro from a towel 🥰
We only stayed here for a night..... 3 days 2 nights would've been better. I haven't had the chance to try the bathtub in our room because we tried the private onsen, or take our time relaxing in our room and Irori lounge.... I wish we stayed here longer 😔

Amazing Ryokan experience and in room bath
The location was a little out of the central city but easy to get too

The staff were very friendly and spoke enough english they could explain everything to us. The building itself was wonderful, the provided dinner was *exceptional* cooked right in front of us by a lovely chef, and the bath and light show were amazing and very relaxing. The best place we've stayed so far!
It is no one's fault but there was construction happening next door during our stay which made for some loud noises, but we were out of the hotel most of the time they were going on so that made it much more bareable

ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING -
If I could give Nazuna a higher score than 10, I would do so without hesitation. My sister and I were welcomed warmly as soon as we stepped foot in front of the door. Haru-san settled us in very warmly and gave us a nice tour of the grounds, and welcomed us kindly with complimentary drinks and snacks from the lounge. Our Monoka room was so inviting, comforting, and had a wonderful wood-like and clean scent.
We opted to book for the private bath, which spanned 40 minutes, and that was a perfect amount of time to prepare for the bath, enjoy the sweets provided to us, and enjoy the bath with the accompanying light show and soothing music.
If anyone booking here has the option, you MUST have your dinner and breakfast provided. After our relaxing bath, we had a multi-course sukiyaki dinner prepared by the same Haru-san that welcomed us. As she prepared and cooked each course, she explained to us the ingredients and answered our questions with great patience. The breakfast was also delightful as we were given a delicious Japanese-style breakfast that was not only cooked in front of us (as our dinner was) but also served in a fascinating, spherical bento-style dish.
It's very important to note that even before our arrival date, a representative from Nazuna was in contact with me through the Booking.com messaging inbox about any allergies or food aversions we had. They are incredibly and preemptively considerate and hospitable well before we even stepped foot onto the grounds.
As we left, my sister and I agreed that staying here was an awe-inspiring experience, and it may just ruin our future stays at other establishments. I wish I took more photos to share in this review, but I only hope that more people take note of this amazing place and the people who work here.
I hated that we had to leave!

We had an absolutely exceptional stay in the Kashiwamochi room. Everything was extremely special - the friendly and attentive service from the staff, the beautiful decor with traditional but still modern elements, the limitless complimentary snacks and drinks in the lounge, the entire atmosphere was very unique. The highlights for us were the very cute tea flight we received upon check in, the AMAZING outdoor bath which was so serene, sitting and looking out over the little garden with a cup of green tea. The suite itself was so cool and unique as part of the renovated machiya building. The location is great in our opinion - a bit away from the very busy tourist zone but close enough to still walk around easily to many shops, sights, and food. It was quiet and wonderful. Domo arigato gozaimasu! We have already recommended Nazuna Gosho to all of our friends. Stay here for a unique and beautiful vacation! :)
Everything was great

Nazuna Kyoto Gosho is not just a place to stay while in Kyoto but the destination thing to do in of itself. We had no desire to step outside the property once we checked in until we had to check out.
Absolutely nothing.

The staff were all super helpful. The room was perfect apart from an issue with the AC at one of the bedrooms.
There was a lounge where you can have some free cold/hot drinks, snacks as well as ice cream. The garden was amazing as well as the illuminated bath. The breakfast was very nice and we were having a non formal conversation with the staff member while it was being prepared which made us felt intimate with the place and not being in a hotel.
The air conditioner was not cold even at 18 degrees. Our room was 101 which is overlooking the street, so the person who slept in the tatami room (although comfortable) had an issue with the loud noise of cars/ and voices while trying to sleep. Yet I had no issue with that being in the main bedroom. so if you have an issue with noises and want to sleep in a tatami choose another room.

Kanako and Terumi were so amazingly thoughtful (they even bought me a birthday present when they noticed my birthday on my passport). They gave us great recommendations of what to do in Kyoto and cooked us a wonderful breakfast just the two of us. The rooms were gorgeous with a great mix of traditional modern and luxurious with the softest pajamas. We couldn’t have had a better stay!
A little pricey but 100% worth it!

Huge room, great décor throughout, really comfortable, very helpful staff
Considering the extent to which the property had been renovated it seemed a shame that they skimped on the TV size (more so during the current pandemic as other entertainment in the evening was limited) which was not much bigger than a laptop screen on the opposite wall.
Sound proofing between rooms was clearly inadequate
The heating/cooling system is very quirky and not easy to figure out. We generally found it too hot but couldn't find out to moderate the heating, putting the aircon on only made the heating and cooling work against each other

Tasteful, traditional and cosy room
Very friendly, polite and helpful staff
Lovely private bath area
Old style Kyoto vibe
