About this apartment rental
Refurbished, this apartment is located on the 4th floor of the Neptune, a highly sought-after co-property in Menton, located in the Centenaire district, west side of the city, quiet because the residence is at the end of an impasse. Food shops are nearby (300 m) as well as the bus stop such as that of the airport. The train station is 10/12 mins walk, the city center (the Old Town) is 20 mins walk by the seaside
This very bright 3-room apartment has an entrance which distributes all the rooms: the living room with open kitchen, the 2 bedrooms, as well as the shower room and separate WC which open onto a skylight. The living room opens onto a large picture window + balcony which overlooks the surrounding gardens and the sea 200 m away.
The apartment is on the 4th floor of a residence built around 1958, 'Le Neptune', consisting of 3 buildings; the apartment is in the central part, block B. You have 2 steps at the entrance. The elevator takes you to the 4th floor, your apartment is on the left.
It has a balcony with a wide view of the sea and the roofs of the Cours du Centenaire pavilions and their gardens; the building, accessible by a private road, is set back from the street. The railway line which crosses all of Menton passes at the back (no train at night).
Rental is preferably from Saturday to Saturday, exceptions are possible in periods outside the tourist season.
Close to shops, it is 200 m away. from the beach, facing south / southeast. It is an apartment with full American kitchen. The master bedroom has a 160 cm bed, the second is equipped with a trundle bed (2 x 80 cm); the living room has a sofa bed for 2 (140 cm) (linens are not included but can be rented on request). You will have a pleasant lunch on the balcony in April; equipped to live there all year round, this apartment is as comfortable in winter as in summer.
Parking your vehicle is rather easy thanks to the parking spaces at the foot of the building + free parking 50m away. More difficult in high season despite everything, given the proximity to the beach.
Tourist tax: € 1.50 per day per person, collected by Abritel.
Tourism & History: Menton is a small town which has kept its provincial charm. Positioned between sea and mountain on the border with Italy, it has benefited from its architectural influence and keeps its colors; the city is French only since 1861 after having been Monegasque for 5 centuries until 1848. Lemon has long been the main source of income in Menton thanks to its micro-climate which has also enabled the creation of many exotic gardens when the crowned heads of Europe and their entourage chose Menton for their winter residence. At the time, it took 3 weeks of horse carriages to come from Paris, you will take less time today!
To reach the Neptune: You are 200 m from a bus stop (Place d'Armes) and 10/12 min from the Menton Sncf station and 25 min from the Roquebrune / Carnoles station.
If you come by car from the highway, do not miss the exit otherwise you will arrive in Italy.
By plane, Nice international airport is 40 km away, or 1 hour and 15 minutes by direct bus line, the Place d'Armes stop is 200m away; unless you prefer to rent a car at the airport.
On the Italian side, Genoa is around 1 hour 30 minutes and Milan, 3 hours.
The weather: Menton benefits from a micro-climate, even compared to Nice which is only 33 km away. It is less hot in summer and less cold in winter, around 3 to 4 °. If June is the most pleasant period for the mild temperature and flowering, it is good all year round, it never freezes in winter and the sun shines there for more than 300 days a year; Fortunately, there are also periods of rain which make the region rather green and never run out of water.
The hinterland is a treat for lovers of hiking and history and you will find the calm that is sometimes lacking by the sea in August. Each village has something picturesque: Gorbio has remained natural and protected from the shops and art galleries that generally accompany the influx of tourists like in Eze which is nevertheless worth the detour thanks to its safeguarded architecture, the point of view it also offers its shops and galleries! Or Sospel, Breil-sur-Roya and Saorge clinging to the mountain like a Tibetan village. You can discover its villages and many others by following the Baroque Route and pass from France to Italy without realizing it.
Info. Various: Waste sorting containers for paper, plastic and glass at the end of the street.
The master bedroom is fitted with a fan.

Really enjoyed our stay in Menton. Great location to enjoy Côte d’Azur and into Italy. Really nice apartment, perfect for our family.

Spent a lovely month in this quiet spacious 2-bdrm with a great view.
Aside from all the needed amenities (including a fully equipped kitchen with plenty of plates, bowls, cookware, full stove, etc.) we particularly appreciated the location: 3 blocks from the shops, 3 blocks from the ocean, 10 minutes from the train station; close enough to everything you need, but far enough away to avoid the traffic noise. Lucette was a perfect host, always easy to reach (and lives in the building.)
Notes:
- the view of the dawn from the balcony is wonderful.
- we visited in April. The apt does not have air conditioning, so if you're visiting in the summer heat, adjust your expectations accordingly.
