Quinta do Acor is a stunning luxury villa in a very tranquil, private location on the edge of the Serra do Acor mountains within the Beira region of central Portugal but still part of the silver coast. It's an unspoilt rural area of Portugal.
The house is split into two appartments that are linked and can be used as one house but can also afford you a lot of privacy if needed.
There is a modern kitchen with everything you could need and a really good portuguese coffee maker ! In the lounge there is a large smart tv with satellite and internet and a playstation and netflix etc if wanted .
The bathrooms have different designs and are luxurious with large showers and baths and one with a large double Jacuzzi bath .The beds are all kingsize but large singles are available.
The mattresses are handmade and are very comfortable .We have quality cotton linen and towels.
There are walk in wardrobes with plenty of space with mirrors and lights .
In one of the apartments is a very large living room with a small kitchen run that Is now the fourth bedroom .
The whole of Quinta Do Acor is on the internet and you can access it in most places around the villa .
The house is situated on the edge of a cork and pine forest and within walking distance of the river Alva river beach which is resanded each year and well looked after. This a great place to swim or to jump in by rope or diving board.
Or just walk to the other side of the river across a wide shallow walkway come waterfall where you will find a very nice local Portuguese restaurant and bar , or stay at the beach bar and have a snack and a drink. There is a small cafe in our village that is a nice ten minute walk by road or through the woods which can organise fresh bread if needed and they love to chat if you want to practice some Portuguese.
The bread arrives at around 9am so its a nice place to get up and stroll to and use the internet and have an early coffee.
They also stock a few groceries.
There are lots of woodland tracks that lead to beautiful spots for views or nearby river routes around the villa that can be explored. These can be followed all the way to Arganil or other smaller towns and villages if you like to walk .
There are other cafes and eating places within walking distance via road or track and all the other amenities are all in easy reach by car in three nearby towns,Arganil ,Coja and Tabua .All have hotels , banks, supermarkets of all types of shopping with lots of places to eat and drink .
The closest town Arganil has a small hospital and private clinic and doctors and dentists and vets.
We are quite close to Coimbra the beautiful and historic previous capital of Portugal. Coimbra is one of the worlds oldest university cities with a preserved medieval old town and one of the largest excavated Roman settlements called Conimbriga is nearby.
Coimbra sits either side of the wide river Mondego and has the historical and modern woven together .There are good shops hidden away down alleys and large stores and markets all around with two large modern shopping centres with multiscreen cinemas .
Not far from Coimbra you hit the Atlantic coast and the fantastic sand dune protected wide beaches.
Back at the Villa you arrive from Porto in under an hour and a half and enter down a wooded track through gates into a space of total enchanting privacy .
The villa has a large parking area where there is one of four covered water wells . A fish man visits here wednesday and thursday lunchtime and toots his horn to see if you would like fresh fish and if you don't appear he leaves ,this area is cut off from the house by large hedging and walls .
On entering you can walk all aroung the villa on the cobbled and tiled walkways passing the organic garden with veg ,fruit and herbs and round the back of the indoor kitchen where theres a outside garden seating area that gets the morning sun and is a great place for breakfast .
From here you are looking down the garden and over your hectare of land and forest and up to the mountains ,these are beautifully clear most of the year with endless sunny blue skies but in January and Febuary there may be snow up there . The Serra Da Estrela mountains ( mountains of the stars ) are the only mountains in Portugal that you can go skiing and a great place to visit at all times.
Going around the path you go between two gardens. One is below the pool area and the planted banks up to it and the other is a shaded garden area and beds at the back of the villa.
Here you can go up some wide granite steps to the very large upstairs sun terrace which over looks the pool ,gardens and the other courtyards ,it's totally private and also a good spot to keep an eye on the children by the pool or down the land. Its a perfect sun trap but with shade provided and it gets the last of the evening sun so its perfect for an evening cocktail or a peaceful spot for early morning yoga or evening star gazing . Below is a covered balcony area leading from the house, a lovely spot to relax with a private shady garden and large cherry tree with a hammock and views to the mountains.
Across the path from here steps lead up to the large sun patio around the pool with sun beds and umbrellas, chairs and tables. The large 12 by 5 metre pool is on a raised area with beautiful views with flower and shrub planted banks on three sides which are colourful and fragrant . The banks unexpectedly and naturally help to keep the pool warm with the sun.
There are two sets of steps leading up to the pool from different ends and there is plenty of space around the whole pool for sunbeds and umbrellas to be moved with the sun theres also a small grassy shaded private area to just relax on and dig your toes into! The pool is a gently sloping 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 ft deep and looking out from the deep end its like an infinity pool with a fantastic view of the mountains , gardens and forests. The whole area is very private and not overlooked so you can sunbathe freely. At the back of the pool is the bar, wet room and toilet and to the front of this are large cork oaks, shrubs and planted beds amongst and under these are various shaded seating areas which are great places for reading or just relaxing . The trees , gardens and a large well and water feature here are all lit at night and make a fantastic area in front of your own private bar .This is well decorated and beautifully lit with a newly covered pool table. There is an amplifier for iPods etc and good speakers, air con, internet, ice machine and a wood burner just for the winter holidays or for the party evenings if you can stand the heat ! Out the side door of the bar is another courtyard with a large deep beautiful brick well safely covered by a lit metal structure so you can peer down into the depths. In this courtyard there is the washroom with a large modern washing machine and a tumble dryer with ironing board ,spare linen and towels plus a large freezer if you're having a party and want plenty of ice and cold drinks or ice creams.
Opposite this is the pool pump house . A pool man comes each week to check on the copper diode system that keeps the pool free of chemicals .
The villa is free from public water and is fed from a 110 metre deep borehole within the courtyard that can produce 1500 litres an hour at most times.
Out of this courtyard and down some wide steps you enter a very large portuguese cobbled courtyard that has the entrances to other parts of the villa . There are solar lights here and around the whole property that look magic at night .there is another large cobble covered well here with a water feature and beautiful raised gardens surrounding it .
In this courtyard is the outside kitchen , dining area with marble work surfaces , sink ,dishwasher ,fridge and a conventional double ovened six burner multifuel range but also a fantastic handmade wood fired bread oven .This is the place that our guests say they spend most of their time. It has a large communal table and chairs, and a great atmosphere . built onto this is a tiled bbq area underneath a delicious eating grape vine a rose and a kiwi covered pergola . This whole area is perfect for preparing shady lunches or candlelit evening meals. There are many different seating areas in sun and shade alike at Quinta Do Acor with plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy. The property has plenty of charm and space. A lot of clients say they did'nt venture far as they had everything they wanted but it's also great for explorers and perfect for nature lovers, with miles of country side for walking, mountain biking, and activities such as riding, kayaking, and abseiling, or as a base to explore the markets, historic towns and villages or to soak up the Portuguese culture.

This is the second time we have been to the villa - and as we have never been to the same place twice ever before, it shows how lovely it really is.
The space is huge - with plenty of areas to sit in the sun or shade. The beautiful gardens, pool, villa, balcony are wonderful, and all set in complete privacy and peace and quiet.
You can walk to the river beach with cafes, restaurants and kayaking, and there are lots of places to visit (if you can drag yourself away from the pool!)
Talking to Clive is a pleasure, and everything went really smoothly.
Trip 3 could be on the cards!

The owner, Clive is incredibly informative and helpful. When Clive was unable to welcome us at the villa, he made sure that his mate, Giles showed us around. Giles knows the area incredibly well and was sharing helpful recommendations which were greatly appreciated. Giles and team was incredibly accommodating and welcoming - especially after we had a terrible flight delay at Luton! The property is in a great condition and it is clear that the owner and his team has put in a lot of thought and effort into building the place. The alfresco kitchen (which comes with a grill and wood fired pizza oven!!) was a real highlight to us! Pictures do not do this place justice! The rooms were clean and spacious and plenty of clean fluffy towels were provided. I would highly recommend this place and look forward to staying again!!

We had a wonderful week in this beautiful villa - gorgeous gardens, space to unwind and everything you need for a relaxing holiday in this beautiful part of Portugal. The local river beach (15 minutes walk) is perfect for a swim followed by a cold beer at one of the two beach bars. With a wonderful pool, games room and outdoor kitchen for lazy summer evening meals, we didn't venture far, although there are restaurants in the local area and small towns to visit. Clive was the perfect host and provided lots of useful info before our stay and Giles made sure we had everything we needed on arrival and throughout the week. A very special villa, can't wait to return!

What a fantastic week we have just had at Clive's villa. Everything was exceptional. Clean, spacious, well equipped. And the addition of a bar, pool and veg garden, just perfect! We would definitely stay here again.
Thank you Clive. And to Giles and Pi who were so helpful during the week!

This is the second time that we have rented Clive’s property and we are already planning when we can come back again. Clive is so helpful and has literally thought of everything that you could ever need. It’s just stunning and the best holiday home that we have stayed in.

Another magical stay
Our second visit to this beautiful property certainly did not disappoint with the fabulous addition of a couple of pergolas by the pool and bar adding some wonderful shade from the searing heat.
Clive and his team were engaging, helpful and informative, offering suggestions and recommendations for places to eat and things to do should you choose. The local river beach being something really rather special.
We would recommend this little piece of paradise to anyone; it is what it should be to be on holiday, getting away from it all but with everything you need near by.
Just wonderful - but please leave space for us to revisit! 😉

Great property and great help when needed. Not intrusive but immediately available when having a question.

Beautiful and relaxing
We couldn't have chosen a more perfect place to start our vacation. It was very private but close enough to everything we needed.

The perfect getaway
As a group of 4 we had carried out a lot of research into where we wanted to go, so we were already confident we had made a good choice. However, from the moment we arrived, we knew the property was even better than we imagined.
The 'living quarters' are fitted out to a very high standard and the four bathrooms are as good as you will find in any hotel. The bedrooms are comfy and spacious and the lounges provide an opportunity to escape the heat and relax.
Despite all of this, when awake, 99% of our time was spent around the pool, or in the games room or in the open air kitchen, all of which were superb.
The pool is crystal clear and chemical free, albeit a little cold when you get in. After a few seconds though you don't even notice. It is also a great suntrap throughout the day, and when the sun fell lower in the sky, we just moved upstairs to the sun terrace.
The games room was fantastic (and air conditioned) and we enjoyed many games of pool, as well as a few hours of karaoke via the amp and speakers there (we just plugged our tablet in and got on with it - there is wifi all over the property). Fortunately the property is remote enough for our terrible singing not to have disturbed anybody!
The best part for us though was the outdoor kitchen, Every meal was prepared and eaten here, either at the large stove, large barbeque, or amazing pizza oven. I enjoyed the pizza oven so much, I have bought one for home!
As an area, this part of Portugal has not suffered at all from over tourism, and you very much get the feel this is the real Portugal. Saying that, all the locals were friendly and welcoming and we are very much looking forward to returning some time in the future.

Excellent villa, with all the amenities you can imagine. Perfect for relaxing and for enjoying our last days of vacation.
The pool is great with chlorine-free water and of swimming appropriate size. Also, no chlorine means that the kids could swim all day and not get their eyes bloodshot red.
The villa and the property were super clean and tidy, and the room sizes exceeded our expectations.
Clive and his team were super friendly and helpful, making sure that everything was perfect and running smoothly.
Absolutely unforgettable and we are definitely coming back.

Exudes quality in every way
What an amazing experience. Nothing was too much trouble thanks to Clive and his team.
There was nothing missing in either of the incredibly well equipped kitchens, in fact we were spoilt for choice.
The bar and pool area were excellent and again suitably equipped for your every need at the pool.
Delightful grounds meant there was always somewhere to sit and enjoy some shade.
In peaceful isolation, the villa was near enough to the local town for shopping and the river beach was a pure delight.
All furnishing was incredibly tasteful and genuinely felt that no expense had been spared in furniture, linen and towels. All beautiful.
I now understand the review that said they didn’t want to tell anyone.... a place that you really would love to keep secret - but maybe unfair to do so!
You will absolutely not be disappointed!

A stunning property and location
This is certainly the most stunning location property and location that we have enjoyed in 30 years of holiday making. Within a day our 3 year old grand daughter was asking when we could move in (I think she meant permanently). If you are after a quiet holiday with plenty of water sports (especially in some of the river beaches that we found) then this is an ideal spot. The local town of Arganil was lovely and had everything you need. My husband and son-in-law marvelled at the wild life around the property. The views of the hills and mountains (especially from the swimming pool) are gorgeous. The men particularly enjoyed the outdoor kitchen and the 'Irish bar room'. Thoroughly recommended!

We have just returned from a weeks holiday in this wonderful villa. We arrived late on Saturday night as our flight to Porto was delayed. Clive was still there to meet us and show us around even though it was nearly midnight. He also organised for a very generous welcome pack of food and beer and wine! The minute we entered the villa we knew that we had picked a good one! The bedrooms are huge, furnished stylishly, all with either their own lavish ensuites or their own bathroom. The villa also has a well equipped indoor kitchen and lounge with sofas to die for. Big TV,Xbox books etc. One of the bedrooms is more like a bedsit. It contained a small kitchenette and sofas. Thus was ideal for my daughter and son in law and my baby grandson. Our party contained three generations of our family and this villa was ideal for us all. Outside the gardens are gorgeous, beautiful flowers and so well looked after. There are views of the mountains in the distance. Each of the bedrooms has access to a shady seating area . There is also a substantial vegetable garden. For me, my favourite place was the outside kitchen. Across a huge courtyard opposite two of the bedrooms, this kitchen was where we ate all our meals and spent most of our evenings. Shaded by a grape vine, superbly equipped with all the mod cons, it included a pizza oven and a modern range and a BBQ. With a grand table in the middle, it was perfect for us to sit and eat together. It even has a dish washer. By this kitchen is the bar and games room. Set on its own and with air conditioning if needed, this room contains a pool table, darts board and other board games. It also has a proper bar, fridge and sink. It was perfect for our family as the youngsters could party the night away without disturbing us old fogies!! Just beyond the games room is the pool. The pool is stunning and beautifully clean perfect for water polo! We loved it. It is surrounded by many sunbeds and the spectacular gardens. It has its own loo and shower room which saves going in to the villa. The villa is set in beautiful cork forests. Completely secluded but only a short walk to the local village or a 20 minute walk through the forest to the river beach, which had restaurants and a cafe. We didn't swim in the river but it was popular with the locals. We did our grocery shopping in Arganil and had a day trip to Gois which was lovely. Clive was a brilliant host and I cannot recommend this villa enough. Just book it now!!

Clive, Jo and the team are very friendly and helpful, I highly recommend this beautiful villa and would love to return

Having stayed in many villas over the past 10 years, I can stay without a doubt that this is the best we have ever stayed in. We were 4 adults, 4 teenagers and a child and we all absolutely loved Clive's place. The grounds are secluded, extensive and provide many options for quiet spots to sunbathe/relax or open areas to kick a ball around or play games. The pool was lovely - large and with plenty of sunbeds and of course the fantastic bar area next to the pool provided additional entertainment with a pool table and darts. We loved the outdoor kitchen which was well equipped and allowed us to enjoy long, lazy evening meals- the whole area magically lit up with fairy lights. The house itself is exceptional- spacious with beautiful bedrooms and luxury bathrooms. Kitchen well equipped with more than enough of everything we needed. Our sons bedroom was essentially an apartment in itself with sofas and a kitchenette. All in all, a wonderful, luxury villa and we will most definitely be coming back!

Another fabulous stay
This is our 3rd year running at this amazing villa. The draw for us is the absolute, peace, tranquillity and privacy. The villa is surrounded by a cork forest, although totally private with no other properties or people around, it is not isolated, as a 10 minute walk takes you into a village to the very friendly village shop. Arganil is only a 15 minute drive to larger supermarkets, restaurants, pharmacy banks etc. The fish man calls twice a week if required, and Lucy and Caroline call to check the pool, keep the garden up to scratch, change all the bed linen and towels etc. all with minimal intrusion. They are also a great source of information of beautiful places to visit. The villa itself is so spacious and comfortable
, has lots of outdoor space. The pool is set against a backdrop of the mountains , which is a sheer joy. Should respite be needed from the weather a large air conditioned pool house houses a bar, games and a pool table. There is also a huge outdoor fully equipped kitchen with bbq, pizza oven as well as a range cooker with two ovens.
The accommodation itself has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, all the rooms are huge, one being air conditioned. The bathrooms are beautifully refurbished , very modern and spacious. Two of the bedrooms have walk in wardrobes, while another has a kitchenette, sitting area and still has masses of space. Outside has many many sitting and eating areas and at night is illuminated by numerous beautiful lanterns,
which make it very magical. We absolutely adore this place and look forward to having many more happy memories of Portugal.

The villa itself is so spacious and comfortable , has lots of outdoor space. Outside has many many sitting and eating areas and at night is illuminated by numerous beautiful lanterns, which make it very magical. We absolutely adore this place and look forward to having many more happy memories of Portugal.

Fabulous secluded location, great facilities
Really good secluded location; owner not on site unlike other places we have stayed (but easy to contact if needed) so we had complete privacy . Loved the option of indoor and outdoor kitchens. Bar, pool plus an upstairs terrace were great. Beds comfortable and property was very clean.
If you want a really relaxed holiday away from everyone but within a short walk of a restaurant and shop we would definitely recommend the villa.

An amazing villa - more like a boutique hotel complex
I'm loathed to review Clive's villa, as want to keep this hidden gem to myself for fear he'll get too booked up. We are seasoned travellers and have stayed in some pretty fantastic places worldwide; this is the first time I have rebooked to go back to the same place EVER. I think the wow factor of this property speaks for itself when I say I rebooked within 10 minutes of arriving. This is a beautiful and large house which works well for families travelling together as two bedrooms are in one side of the house and effectively self contained and the other two are in the other side. All rooms open onto gardens and are all very large and beautifully decorated. Our master enjoyed grand dimensions, a walk in robe and a luxury ensuite; our daughters were sharing a room the size of a small apartment! The gardens and grounds are spectacularly kept and the large swimming pool, bar / pool table area (with lots of games) and outdoor kitchen (when lit up with fairy lights it reminded me of a greek taverna) keep everyone entertained. This villa is nestled away in a rural setting which suited us, as this meant the cost of eating out locally was competitive and who needs to venture far when you have beautiful views and an amazing place to stay. The grounds at night, adorned with lanterns are spectacular. The real plus for me however, was the efforts Clive and a whole team (all speaking English) put into preparing for our stay and welcoming us! I am very much looking forward to returning next August. Thank you Clive (and also Lucy and Nick). One word of caution - take your insect repellent if bugs like nibbling on you as I did suffer a bit, so will go fully armed next year (this is a minor bug bare if you pardon the pun for such an amazing place).

Like a wonderful private boutique hotel
The villa is an luxurious escape. Beautiful as the photographs are they still can't do justice to this. We spent a week and didn't want to leave. From the excellently equipped kitchens, the comfortable bedrooms, and the abundance of different areas to relax and enjoy your holiday, this villa is real treasure.

Amazing!!!!
Clive’s villa is fantastic. Inside it is like a 5 star hotel – and the amount of space both inside and out is incredible, and something we didn’t really appreciate from the pictures on the website. We have stayed in a lot of villas over the years, and this is probably the best.
The pool has the most amazing views to the mountains, and is a really good size, and very clean. There is an outside kitchen and bbq area, where we did all our cooking.
The villa is really well equipped – with plenty of cooking equipment, cutlery, crockery and glassware – both in the outside and inside kitchens! Everything was immaculate when we arrived, and we also had a really nice welcome pack of some essentials, which was much appreciated as we didn’t arrive until 10pm and all the shops were shut.
The games room kept us all entertained in the evening – with pool, darts and music. There is a large tv that picks up UK channels – but to be honest, we didn’t watch it once – there was too much other stuff to do! Even at night time, the villa looks great – as there are solar lights everywhere which make it all look very pretty.
The villa is very remote – there are no neighbours, and it is extremely quiet – we couldn’t hear anything at all – so peaceful. A five minute drive takes you to the river beach, which is a great place for swimming, and there is also a really nice restaurant which we ate at several times during our stay.
The area of Portugal is stunning, and we had a day out at some waterfalls and pools (really cold!!), had coffee and cakes in an old square in Coja, and visited some of the other river beaches nearby.
Dealing with Clive was a pleasure – and he has a really good team of people ‘on the ground’ - Lucy, Caz and Nick – who were also extremely friendly and helpful and really made us feel at home during our stay.
Everything really has been thought about – it would be pretty difficult to improve on!
We had the best holiday – thanks Clive!!

Luxury and relaxation in beautiful surroundings
We had an absolutely fantastic holiday at Quinta do Acor. We were greeted and shown around this luxurious house in an absolutely stunning location and we instantly felt at home. The house is brilliantly equipped with a good sized, comfortable lounge, widescreen TV with English channels should you feel the need to crash and watch a film. We were lucky enough to get the main bedroom with its walk in wardrobe and a fantastic ensuite bathroom that includes a jacuzzi bath.
Our friends were just as happy in the second bedroom with a luxurious shower room just next door.
The spacious kitchen diner, with everything that you could need, pleased the ladies of the party. The outside, covered kitchen in the rear courtyard enticed us men to cook up a storm in the pizza/bread oven. Eating at the banqueting table al fresco was a highlight of every day.
Leading off from the courtyard towards the swimming pool, another gem can be found, that being your own private bar complete with honesty bar, sound system and pool table. Darts and boardgames are provided too. We had many an enjoyable night playing pool, dancing around and drinking possibly a bit more than we should have.
Leaving the bar and returning to the pool with its breathtaking view of the distant mountains, plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas are provided for relaxing after a refreshing dip with yet another drink. It was easy to send gloaty photos on social media with wifi covering the entire grounds.
At night the grounds have a magical feel with all the solar powered fairy lights and lanterns. With the pool lights on, music and drinks flowing from the bar its party time every night.
I confess we didn't leave the grounds that often but we did venture out to a local river beach just two minutes drive away and into Lidl in Arganil for supplies which is about a 10 minute drive.
Its a shame as there is a lot more to see in the local area but we found it so relaxing at Quinto Do Acor and that was exactly what we needed. Maybe we will explore next time.
We were a party of four adults but Quinta Do Acor would also be absolutely fantastic for families

Good for your heart and soul
This is our 2nd visit to the Villa and the children all cried yesterday at the thought of leaving. The peace and beauty are truly breathtaking. The owner Clive is an amazing kind man, nothing is to much to ask and we have enjoyed meeting him. Next the caretakers Lucy and Caroline add great knowledge, wisdom and some good chats. Along with all the other great people we have met we feel we are leaving friends behind. We will be back as soon as we can.

Fantastic Two weeks in Arganil
This is an incredible property that is under sold in regard to the pictures and description given. The location is incredible, the pool and house fantastic. Each room is beautifully presented and of the highest quality. The garden is well tended, as is the pool, and the house is presented clean and tidy. A huge thank you to Clive who looked after us during our stay in addition to Lucy and Caroline who kept the garden well watered and looking its best. I would very much recommend this holiday villa. Many thanks John

Out of this world
Six of us (and our dog) had a wonderful two weeks here. It proved to be everything that the other reviewers of the property found so enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble for Clive and his staff. The only downside was having to leave this magical place at the end of our holiday.

This place was an absolutely stunning place! Outside kitchen was where we spent most our time, second to the picturesque poolside!! Simply cannot recommend enough. We will be back for sure. 10/10

Omg what a gem of a place - Paradise
What a place. Complete privacy with a fabulous poolside games room/bar. Loved every minute of the 10 days we stayed for a friends 40th birthday (10 of us). Plenty of room to be alone when needed with beautiful gardens and a fantastic outdoor kitchen too. Pool was divine and accommodation lovely. The perfect getaway from real life!

Silver coast and Central Portugals hidden gem
We were looking for a short break and really needed privacy and quiet and definitely no neighbours near as we have two boisterous puppies in training and a Dad who is recuperating from an operation. We got all of this in spades at Quinta Do Acor ,what a beautiful hidden place . We didn't expect the weather to be so good but we had some good sunny days when we left the teenagers and Dad playing pool and watching films in the bar with the woodburner blasting away while we took the chance to go and see the snow up in the mountains and visit a spa and the city of Viseu .
Most days though we stayed at the villa and cooked and relaxed ,there is so much room around the grounds and out on the woodland paths that the dogs and I got plenty of walking and found some great tracks down to the river and a nice cafe for a coffee and a brandy ! .
Thankyou for having us there and thankyou to Kaz and Emily the gardeners come organisers etc for welcoming us and seeing us off and for giving us good advice on where to visit and showing us how to cook with the bread oven , which we mastered in the end ! We shall definitely be coming back later in the year .

Stunning, luxurious villa with beautiful views
Quinta do Acor is a truly stunning, luxurious place and we had a fantastic holiday there. It definitely has the “wow” factor! We were welcomed and showed around by the lovely Lucy who was extremely helpful and friendly. The house and grounds are spacious and absolutely beautiful with a private swimming pool with mountain views and lots of secluded places to sit, relax and take in the breathtaking scenery. It is an idyllic place in which to unwind and enjoy nature whilst also taking advantage of the comforts of modern life such as the internet, English TV, films etc.
We found it spotlessly clean, comfortable and extremely well equipped. Everything has been so well thought out with great attention to detail. I enjoy cooking so having a choice of kitchens was brilliant. There is the spacious, well equipped kitchen in the main house plus the outside kitchen which has a pizza oven plus its own fridge, BBQ and dishwasher. It was also lovely to be able to pick organic tomatoes, peppers and herbs straight from the garden.
We loved sitting in the garden in the morning with a cup of tea, watching and listening to a variety of birds who also seem to love the quinta and as we had a hot, sunny week, we enjoyed swimming in the pool whilst taking in the beautiful mountain views.
The solar lights give the quinta a magical feel at night and having our own private bar was an absolute treat! We spent several evenings enjoying a drink, listening to music and playing pool then off to bed for a sound nights sleep in the comfy beds.
As Quinta Do Acor is so tranquil and comfortable, it would have been very easy not to have ventured outside of the grounds at all during our holiday. However, we wanted to explore the area and also put the Portuguese that we are learning into practice. Quinta Do Acor is perfectly situated, being private and secluded yet less than a 10 minute stroll into the pretty village of Pousadouros where there is a welcoming little cafe serving coffee, tea, beer and wine. Arganil with its shops, banks and supermarkets is an easy 10 minute drive and we also really enjoyed a day out at the beautiful Secarias river beach which is about a 15 minute walk or a couple of minutes in the car.
We would definitely recommend Quinta Do Acor and we look forward to staying again. Whether you are a couple, small family or bigger group, Quinta Do Acor is an amazing place for a holiday!

Simply the best
We had read the reviews and thought this place sounded great. Well it is better than great, the whole property is geared up to making you feel welcome, comfortable and totally relaxed. The setting is in the forest along a dirt track which opens up to the most fabulous villa. The views around the pool are outstanding as is the level of bedrooms with walk in wardrobes and ensuite bathrooms. Although of a high standard the kitchen and lounge areas are well lived in and welcome you as if you were at home. The outdoor kitchen (mainly used) is well equipped and a joy to use, with pizza oven and bbq. The pool house complete with pool table and bar with air con was a great way to while away some time if one could drag oneself away from the amazing, massive pool.We had a 5 month baby with us so the air con was a relief for him from the heat. Every area has an outside eating space, with the biggest decision being which area to eat tonight. There is a comprehensive file of information and phone numbers. The fish man (very handsome) calls once a week, and Lucy who is there to give you any help, extra information along with Caroline come twice a week to clean and garden an bed change. A Pool man comes once a week to check all is as it should be. Apart from that you are totally private and can go to the local river bar, (3 mins) or into Arganil (5 mins away). We never go back anywhere twice but have booked again already for next year. Clive the owner is an outstanding man, who will call you from wherever he maybe should you need him. His communications throughout have been outstanding, such a refreshing change to having to chase people up. So if you were in any doubt about this destination, don't be just go for it. If you snooze you loose.

What a beautiful, idyllic place for a holiday - Clive and Philly have created an amazingly spacious villa with huge gardens and so much lovely outdoor space to enjoy. We spent happy days by the pool and evenings making use of the pizza oven and barbecue before wandering through the beautifully lit gardens watching the sun set over the mountains. The separate party house complete with a well stocked bar, pool table & various games is a winner too!
The local area is stunning, with miles of mountain trails to explore and the local towns of Arganil, Coja and Góis are well worth a look.
Our toddler enjoyed the pool and the warm welcome he got from locals wherever he went. We found lots of nice places to eat, be it pastel de nata with morning coffee in Coja or dinner by the river two minutes from the villa.
If you want a peaceful holiday off the beaten tourist track I cannot recommend it highly enough.
