About this house rental

Immaculate, spacious, modern, sunny, arty, private and semi-luxurious eco-home. Architect-designed 4 bdrm Copper Gate is a popular wow-factor family-friendly or romantic get-away holiday choice between Nelson and Abel Tasman. Also check out 3 bdrm Corru Gate #1334; Kissing Gate glamping - in world's top 14 glamping sites - which feature a 'creative' NZ flavour on a farmlet with stunning valley, sea and mountain views. Set in 7 acres of fields and fruit trees near Mapua seaside village, Copper Gate is creatively themed in heritage NZ domesticity yet has smart, ultra-modern design.

Modern, roomy kitchen with all you'll need to cook up fresh local produce: induction stovetop, oven, blender etc. BBQ too.

French doors open onto decks with gorgeous valley, sea and mountain views beyond. 1 or 3 bdrm options for Copper Gate - close off the other 3 bedrooms and stay in the Paris Suite for a romantic getaway at a reduced rate, yet have sole occupancy of house. See the separate Paris Suite listing.

Corru Gate + Copper Gate + Kissing Gate are built with sustainability, artistic expression and romance in mind, yet Copper Gate and Corru Gate are also family friendly. Built as a social enterprise/eco-project, Copper Gate is one of NZ's most eco of eco-homes. Value the natural environment (open spaces, birds, native trees) and spray-free orchards – grab a lemon for your G&T on the deck, or enjoy a delicious breakfast grapefruit or free-range eggs (in season). Solar panels, superinsulation and sunny design make this an ideal 1-2 family destination - or a romantic haven for two in the 1 bdrm Paris Suite (your exclusive occupancy of the building though). Children welcome – Copper Gate is fenced and there is a playground, treehut, chickens and tame sheep and SPACE. Owners 150m away for advice. Babysitter list too!

Copper Gate is central for exploration and adventure. Wander our gently sloping farm taking in the views. Cafes/studios 3 mins drive in the seaside village of Mapua - or walk/cycle there. Nearby - beaches, inlet, wharf jumping, cycle ferry/trails. Great Taste Trail feeder at bottom of drive. Wineries just a few minutes away. Perfect family holiday spot
Perfect family holiday spot
What a fantastic time we had at Copper Gate! Thanks Roger and Adele, it's a beautiful spot. Peaceful and quiet, and ideally located to explore the region. Our kids loved the family sized trampoline, and feeding the sheep and chickens. The house was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. It was great to know the owners were close by if we wanted to ask for any help or advice, but were very respectful of our privacy if we were happy to go under our own steam. Thanks again.

The ideal place to unwind after our ( 8 adults) Abel Tasman walk.

The ideal place to unwind after our ( 8 adults) Abel Tasman walk. Well designed and beautifully appointed ( thanks to Adele's flare for decor), it is maintained to a very high standard allowing us to feel totally relaxed. The house has everything you need and more, with many beautiful treasures dotted throughout. The rural setting is restful and the friendly sheep an unexpected source of entertainment. Mapua itself was a pleasant discovery, and we would definitely stay at Coppergate again :)

Best hosts in New Zealand, the house is amazing, the property is perfect and the views are stunning. Family of 4 loved our time at the farm and the hosts were a try wealth of information. The sheepy and chickens were a highlight for my kids, but the ease of the house and modern appliances worked for us. Also, GO SEE THE GLOW WORMS, FREE AND AWESOME. Roger mapped out the rest of our South Island road trip and it was amazing. Also their new GLAMPING site looks killer. GO THERE you won't regret it.
