This home was everything we could have hoped for--pristine, with every extra we could have wanted. We are a family of Grandmother and Grandfather, 2 sons, their wives, and 2 grandchildren and we were more than comfortable in the accommodations. Our host had provided more than we had any expectation of finding, including some staples we thought we would have to buy there. This historic house, the oldest in Duleek, has been lovingly restored, updated, and tastefully decorated. The locale in the heart of the Boyne Valley offered wonderful excursions. The host even had valuable recommendations for the restaurants in the area. Needless to say, we hope to be back soon and often!

We just ended a 45 day trip through all of Europe and this VRBO in Duleek, Ireland was our favorite stay! Karla was amazing. Her attention to detail is commendable and the house is beautiful inside and out. Karla has thought about everything. We loved the Tribe Restaurant next door, next to Monastery ruins and we ate inside the bell tower, which made it very special. We were 8 people including two teens, who loved watching DVDs and eating popcorn at night. We also loved Nanny’s, a Pub just a 5 min walk away and a coffee shop just across the street. We even saw cows at the end of that street beyond the fence with a beautiful view of the Irish country side. There is a Eurospar market down the road and the Butcher shop is literally next store. We visited Dublin for a day and were so glad we stayed in Duleek instead. Dublin is a busy city with no parking, Duleek is a small town where you can truly relax and enjoy the country side. Drogheda is also close by worth going to visit for a day. Emerald park (aka Tauro park) and Newgrange are also only 15 min away and both highly recommended. Other places I recommend visiting in Ireland are Bunratty Castle (do the Medieval Banquet), Glendalough Ruins and Lakes, Cliffs of Moher (go after 4pm when buses leave and possibly do the coastal walk shortcut instead), Blarney Castle (this place was bigger than I thought I wish I would have dedicated more time to it), Doolin and Aran View Islands (Inisheer).

Duleek was a great start to our UK adventure! We are a group of 3 couples celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary's. The Connell House was everything and more. The location was perfect, the pubs and restaurants Karla recommended were welcoming, delicious and fun!! We were able to enjoy St. Patrick's Day in Dublin with ease and make a trip to Cork to the Blarney Castle. Beds were comfortable, house is absolutely adorable, & the amenities were nice. Highly recommend!!

Nice town and location and house! Super clean and convenient to little things you might need to shop for daily, close to local attractions. The Tribe restaurant, less than a minute’s walk, was such a favorite that we ate there twice 😁 Of the 3 rentals we stayed at during a 2-week visit to Ireland, Karla’s house was the cleanest and most comfortable (especially beds, bedding, and furniture). And, though she had to report a problem on our arrival (broken washer/dryer), she offered a solution right up front (she’d pay for any laundry needing to be done, at a conveniently located laundry service, also 1 minutes’ walk). That’s classy hosting! Thanks, Karla!

We stayed in several VRBO rentals throughout Scotland and Ireland on this trip, and this place was by far our favorite! Very warm and welcoming checkin, old charming house that is completely renovated and updated, fabulous restaurant in an old church about 1 minute away - perfect!

We enjoyed the most wonderful few days at Connell House. The cottage is superb and absolutely stunningly restored. The location was close to famous Irish attractions that will please the whole family. During our stay we were able to visit Emerald Park, Newgrange, The Battle of the Boyne Museum, and Funtasia Waterpark. The whole experience was amazing and we absolutely loved the spacious beautiful cottage that we were lucky enough to call home during our stay. It was right beside one of the most gorgeous restaurants we have ever eaten in with delightful food called Tribe, it’s a converted Church and we dined like kings in the bell tower. The owner of the cottage Karla was an amazing host and a pleasure to deal with. We all hope to return in the future. A 5 star accommodation for sure!

Great passion and dedication from the owner are evident in every detail of this beautifully restored historical property. The property is in a cute town convenient to many tourist sites in the Boyne Valley. The garden off the kitchen is private, relaxing, and beautiful - great spot for morning coffee. The beds are super comfortable, bathrooms are well appointed, and the sitting room areas are spacious. What makes this property stand above the rest is the great lengths that the owner goes to care for and maintain the property. Beyond being an excellent property, the owner is exceptional in providing great service. My daughter had lost her cell phone at the property upon check-out, the owner was kind enough to hold onto it until we were back in the area - over a week later! - and then was very accommodating in meeting us before our return flight so we could get the phone back - what stupendous service!

Words cannot do this cottage justice! It was impeccable and simply perfect in every way. There was enough space for everyone to have privacy and yet connected enough to have family time. Everything has been thought of! It is spotless and the decor is absolutely beautiful! Our host was our first intro to true Irish hospitality! I don't think they come any kinder or more genuine than her! We were so blessed to have found this gem. With an outstanding restaurant next door and a pub just down the street, I wish we had stayed longer. It was our favorite place to stay on our two week trip!

My family and I had the pleasure of staying at Connell 's House for the last two nights of a magical, 10 day adventure in Ireland. We were interested in this home as it was conveniently located within approximately 30 minutes drive to Dublin Airport.
It is obvious that Karla has put her heart and soul in to the restoration of this thatched cottage. The attention to detail was apparent, and each room was cozy and comfortable.
There is also an outside seating area with gardens and picnic tables that are so just so lovely and inviting.
Communication with the host was timely and seamless, and the check-in process was simple and convenient.
The home was immaculate and had everything we could possibly need.
We especially liked the location of the cottage. It was within walking distance to a pub, where we spent a really fun evening making some new friends! There is also a wonderful supermarket within walking distance, and a restaurant called Tribe. Unfortunately, the restaurant was not open during the nights of our stay, but we met the owner and he was kind enough to give us a tour. The atmosphere is ABSOLUTELY beautiful, and the menu looks amazing!
I would not hesitate to book this cottage again!

This thatched roof cottage was a wonderful place to stay to complete our last three days in Ireland. It was comfortable for all six of us and very welcoming. Karla has thought of everything to make your stay a success. Specific instructions for everything. Near by restaurants and grocery shopping. Only 30 minutes from the airport, so very convenient. Karla is a very gracious hostess and very accessible for any questions or problems. I highly recommend this property.

This is our 14th visit to Ireland and this home has been an early highlight. Karla was very generous in preparing for our family’s special needs for the little ones and in sharing suggestions. And she kindly met with us to show us around the house.
Seeing the restoration photo book it was amazing to see how this home was brought back to life. It was comfortable, perfectly clean, with fully stocked kitchen, warmly and stylishly decorated, and a perfect location for exploring the Boyne Valley.
There is a new restaurant transformed from an old church called The Tribe right behind the house next to the Duleek Abbey ruins. It looks to be worth making a reservation. We will try it next time but took a little tour around it and it looks lovely.
Thanks Karla!

This is a gorgeous property and host Karla has thought about every little detail to make it comfortable and elegant at the same time. With the clever modern design of the historical building, the Handmade Company's local soaps in all the powder rooms, and the thoughtful treats awaiting weary travelers in the gourmet kitchen ... this property truly feels like home! What a great home base for exploring the Boyne Valley, Dublin and even Belfast. Our second visit was even better than the first and we will plan to be back! Thanks so much...

Beautiful house and quaint village. The home was clean, and Kayla went the extra step in making it kid friendly. She left us information on where to dine and what to see. The house is in the historic East, and also close to Dublin. We couldn't have expected our experience to go any better.
