Highly recommended as an alternative to staying in cities. You'll have an interesting experience of rural life in Cambodia and Esaro can share a lot of knowledge about the country and its history. Be sure to let him take you up the mountain to see the caves and temples and then watch millions of fruit bats leaving their roost at dusk.

Location was great. Very close to the Batcave temple, and also on the edge of fields so felt quite rural. Owners were nice and evening meal was good
Wardrobe in room full of stuff - no room to hang your clothes.
Old lady shouting for at least 20 minutes at 6.30am.

Great location
Welcomed family
Nice Khmer house
The bathroom looks a little to much like we can find in big city

- Homestay owners: Saro and his family were most welcoming and helpful throughout our 3-night stay. We got a real feel for Cambodian countryside and the life of Cambodians outside of the city. We found this homestay to be a great way to support a family business and have an authentic experience.
- Food: Breakfast was delicious - a choice of an omelette, fried rice or noodle soup all served with tea or coffee, fresh fruit and a mini pastry. We loved starting our morning with the noodle soup. Dinner priced at $5 was excellent value for money as you also get a dessert and drinks - Saro’s wife substituted meat with tofu for us and cooked it so well. The fish soup, the avocado shakes, the fruit shakes and the desserts were all incredibly delicious. You can also have a beer. Lunch is also available on request - it’s fried rice or fried noodles. We enjoyed eating dinners with other travellers and Saro at a big table.
- A super comfortable mattress in the bungalow, a powerful fan and a quality mosquito net made our stay very comfortable. You can also relax by the duck pond in a hammock. There are also hammocks outside all bungalows.
- Do not fear the shared bathrooms. They’re brand new and so clean with excellent water pressure. The addition of bamboo decorations and lovely plants and pots make them look even nicer. We never had to wait for a toilet - the facilities are more than sufficient for the number of guests. There is no hot water but the cold water is most often lukewarm anyway because of the temperature outside.
- Free bikes - we enjoyed our 10km cycle to the Banan temples. Saro told us where to have a delicious lunch by a lake which we enjoyed very much.
- Saro is an excellent guide and knows the area like the back of his hand. The first night he took us to a lesser known bat cave. The second night we watched bats literally fly over the homestay area and just above us - it was incredible.

This is a real homestay with Cambodian family out in the rice fields. Saroh is an exceptionally kind and caring man helping with any kind of request if needed. I wanted a place away from the city and to experience authentic Cambodia, this was a hit. His wife cooks meals, and for dinner there’s usually a small crowd of other guests from all over the world, sharing their stories. It all makes for a very nice heartfelt experience.
There’s 3 toilets and two showers. It’s a simple setup but everything works just fine. No Wi-Fi - so go walk in the fields instead ))
Bat caves, killing caves and some beautiful temples are 5 minutes away, very convenient to explore. Saroh is often taking guests to these places or doing a tour around.
Thank you for a memorable experience and your hospitality.

Esaro and his family were incredibly welcoming and helpful! They stayed up late to let us in when our bus was delayed and took us to see the bats at sunset and cooked us delicious food for the entirety of our stay. Can't recommend this place enough.

We loved our stay at Esaro's and his company! So authentic, so beautiful
and relax days! This is not a typical stay at a hotel so people decided to stay there they should do their research! For us was just one of the best days in Cambodia! We learned a lot and we saw things that if we had stayed at the city we would not! We so much appreciate this! We also arranged a nice tour with him too and we got a very insight of the region! I wish Esaro good luck and I hope to meet him again!
We loved everything! And the kids!! And the kittens and All Esaro's energy!

We had an incredible stay at Esaro's homestay in Battambang. Esaro and his family went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and made our visit truly memorable. From guiding us to local gems like the bay cave to organizing a seamless car journey to Siem Reap, their hospitality was outstanding. The breakfast and dinner provided were exceptional, and the Cambodian BBQ on our last night was a delicious highlight. Highly recommend this homestay for a warm and authentic Cambodian experience.

You stay in the garden of the family, in an own bungalow on pillars. Esaro ist the best host to have, good English, calm, friendly and experienced. He organized our trips there with a perfect timing, also for the bats, incl. transfer to Siam Reap. You share the bathrooms with the other guests and Esaro‘s wife is cooking very good food for you.
The room was warm (fan, but no a/c), but with windows open and fan on all good. mosquito nets is installed in the room.

Very traditional Khmei Homestay, you are essentially staying in the family compound but have your own private room, definitely natural
I was prepared for a natural environment and shared bathroom downstairs. Others might fund this more difficult. If you need luxurious settings and fear mosquito nets, and must have hot water, then this place is not for you

The homestay is not just a good place to stay, is the place to stay! An amazing experience in the countryside sorrounded by birds,,flowers, little cats and lovely dogs who guarded my bungalow all night long. Located at the foot of the Phnom Sampow mountain, is the ideal place to visit the village and the batcave, the host Saro provides tour by scooter to visit them.
The kindness of Saro family's made me feel at home. Highly recommended.
Nothing.

Saro and Rotha were amazing hosts, and we are so grateful to them and glad we stayed for two nights travelling between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. We have nothing but good memories.
The rooms are nice simple bamboo cottages with flynet over mattress, and fans inside and out, and a hammock outside to relax in. The huts are open to help heat escape which is fine for us but good to know if you're worried about insects. There's so many trees on his property it also helps with the heat. Bathroom facilities are simple and shared but clean and private. Check the photos out they are spot on
Breakfast and Dinner cooked by Rotha were delicious with simple local and western options. There's plenty of filtered water and we were lucky to be given a few beers and juices as well!
The rest of their family are lovely, kids playful and so many pets all keen for a pat! You do feel comfortable and safe.
There is no need to plan anything in advance here, Saro can organise everything you need and the prices are all great. We spent a morning visiting the mountain temple (worth the 300 steps, miss heat and go early) and the original bamboo train which I highly recommend.
The homestay is on the foothills of the batcaves (about 25min from Battambang, $5 tuk tuk) and killing cave, and Saro just took us around in the afternoon and gave us a private guided tour of both , imparted so much knowledge of the local history and left us to watch the bats stream out, which was quite a sight!
Thankyou again!

We found out this place casually on booking so we didn't know what to expect but was a wanderful experience. You can spend some night in a very rural place in the countryside of Cambodia with Esaroo and his family! They will provide everything you need and they will cook for you very special meals! I really recommend it!

A really special experience. I would definitely recommend for anyone coming to Battambang. It’s worth coming to Battambang (and breaking up the journey from PP to SR) just to stay here.
Saro is such a nice guy. He has a great knowledge of the local area and he brought us for an awesome tour in his tuk tuk.
It really feels like a true authentic travel experience. You are staying in his home with his family, you eat with them as well. We cycled to a nearby temple, banan, which is similar in design to the Angkor complex and built during the same era and it was so lovely going through the countryside and seeing the village life.
The rooms are basic, there are fans over the beds and mosquito nets.
Bring plenty of mosquito repellent!
Just the mosquitoes!

Homestay live with the family while with your own space.
Hospitality and English capacity of Esaro.
Real countryside. Everything is basic but decent.
Be prepared for the Mosquitos.
The dinner price was not told in advance(3$ each, fair price. Just wish to know before consume)
And there is extra 3 dollar charged for tax.

Saro ans his family are incredible hosts and we really enjoy our stay. The place is well situated, in a quiet place, not far from Battambang and close to several beautiful sites to visit.
Saro is really kind and can advise and arrange you some trip around his place to discover Cambodian countryside.
We hardly recommend his home and wish him the best for his project.

Hospitality was exceptional and the meals delicious. It's nice to wake up each morning to a tray for making tea. The host was the perfect tour guide as well. It was very convenient having several of the Battambang tourist attractions close by.

What I enjoyed the most was Saro’s hospitality and the location (10-15 min from Battambang, in the nature). My bungalow was rudimentary inside (just a mattress on the floor, with some nice decoration and a well-needed fan though) and a desk to keep my thinks but, sincerely, I did not miss anything and I think that this is what made the charm of the place). I also had a private terrasse, which was more furnished (with 2 fans and a nice view), on which I would rest and chill. I also appreciated the possibility of taking the bike for free. Saro’s family was very nice too.

We loved it.
When you stay here at Saro's homestay, you are not just paying for somewhere to sleep. You are paying for an authentic cultural experience that you will remember for all your life.
The beds were comfortable, Saro's wife is a great cook and they are all just so welcoming and generous. You really feel like a family friend visiting for a few days. Saro took us on a tour of the bat cave and killing cave, and gave us lifts to places, all included in the price.
And the best thing is - you are supporting a hardworking and wonderful Cambodian family to make a better life for themselves.
To be even better - it would be helpful to get a list of available activities in the area soon after check-in.

If you want an authentic homestay experience stay here! Nice property close to the bat caves. Saro will arrange tours for you and the family welcomes you to each meal. A truly wonderful experience!
As long as you are prepared for no A/C (the fan in the room over the bed is sufficient) and no wifi then you will have a great stay here.

Well ... where to start?!
First of all, its not a 5* hotel and my review is based around staying at an authentic Khmer homestay (in a rural area).
... To sum it up, I loved every minute of it. The room was clean and spacious with amazing views, the shared bathroom and shower was also very clean and well-maintained. Saro and his family were perfect hosts and couldn't have been more welcoming. I genuinely felt like part of the family. The food was fantastic, his wife is an excellent cook and the traditional Khmer food was the best ive ever had (this is my third time in Cambodia). The location was great, only being a short walk away from the killing caves and bat caves. Saro also has bicycles that you can use (free of charge) to explore a bit further afield. I didnt go much further than 13km (about a hours ride each way) but theres plenty to see and do in that radius. If cycling isnt your thing, or you have less time then he can also arrange tuk tuk tours covering most attractions in a day or two (I didnt take a tour so im not sure of the details). Saro is also very knowledgeable about the local area and was happy to answer all my questions.
I honestly cant praise this family enough. Probably the best and most authentic homestay ive ever stayed in. Thank you Saro and the family, keep up the good work and I hope to see you again in the future :)

Saro and his family were so amazing to stay with. If you want a homestay where they pull you in and live like them for your stay, this is the place. He took me around to meet his friends and family, went to the bat caves and showed me all his local spots. It was a fantastic time, thank you Saro!

We loved this place! Saro and his family have made such an awesome, authentic homestay. On our first night, Saro took us and some other guests for a walk around the temple that is close by, telling us about the temple and the khmer rouge, then lead us to a less busy spot to watch a beautiful sunset and see the bats leave the cave. We had delicious breakfast and dinner at the homestay each night (dinner was USD $5 and lunch was USD $3 which also included drinks). Saro also arranged a tour for us to look around Battambang which was really cool and not badly priced at all. Overall amazing stay in Battambang, very helpful and would highly recommend for people looking to have a more authentic experience in Cambodia. Also note-there are only fans so did get very hot at night but to be expected
The water did stop working at one point so did have to have a dribble of a shower but started working again later that night
