Loved the peaceful forest setting, charming cabin with hot tub, and close proximity to the river and winter activities!

We had a wonderful stay. As advertised, an historic cabin with lots of unique features and charm. Not for you if you want a new, modern feel, but wonderful if you want a memorable place with character. A bit quirky but has everything you need. Beautiful setting, enjoyed the hot tub under huge trees with sound of the stream. Would stay again.

Good time with friends

Rustic cabin but served us well as a home base for exploring and enjoying the natural beauty of the Mt Hood forest area for 5 days.

IT was OK for our stay. Stairs need some work. No lights in the hot tub area which is not close to cabin. I personally would not stay here again. Owner was nice but should check condition of cabin. Could be beautiful but needs some work.

Stayed for three nights, and loved the quiet, forest setting with the glorious sound of the rivers nearby. Cabin was a great place to gather with friends!

This was a perfect place to stay for a few days in the drippy Pacific NW forest, just minutes from Mt. Hood, convenient retail and dining. Although we could hear highway noise, it was blended with the rushing waters of the Zig Zag River only yards away, We felt cozy and secluded.

We had a quick weekend getaway at Laughing Bear and had a great time. It was exactly what us friends needed. The cabin was full of charm and had everything we needed except an aux cord to listen to music on the stereo.
Brad was easy to communicate with and everything was great!

If you want to stay in a real and unique Steiner Cabin then this is your place. If you don't want to try and figure out how to open every single door in the place, have the owner make you sign your life away, be surrounded by clutter and have to take a shower before you walk outside in the cold to the hot tub, then it might not be your place.

The place was very clean and had everything we needed. Loved the hot tub. Very cool original log cabin.

Loved the stay here! It was exactly as described. Decorated for Christmas and everything! Hot tub was great AND hot chocolate by the fire. Super cozy and close to so many winter activities! Wish check in had been a little earlier, it was a little difficult in the dark but overall an excellent experience!

Laughing Bear was such a beautiful property in a beautiful setting. Quiet, calm, serene. We absolutely loved our stay and the cabin itself, and the owner was very easy to communicate with if we needed anything at all. The town is charming and tiny, and really it was just a great way to spend time with someone you love.

We could not get in until 6:30pm they Maintenance was making repairs on cupboard. The stove needs a good cleaning. We enjoyed our time here!

I don't know which is better, the cool rustic cabin in the woods or the property it sits on.
Lots and lots of room for several people, comfortable bed, TV, wifi, comfortable seating and everything you need in a kitchen is there. It has a hot tub, but since we didn't use it, can't really speak to its quality.
The property the cabin sits on is pretty amazing. Everything, and I mean everything, is covered in a beautiful carpet of beautiful green moss. Coming from Montana, all that moss was very new to me. There also a beautiful, wide, crystal clear creek flowing just behind the property that you're going to want to check out.

Not exactly as pictured. There is no upkeep of the grounds.

The Laughing Bear is an incredible example of the classic Steiner built cabins in the Mt.Hood area. There are so many unique touches to the place that really take you back in time, from the tree branch door handles to the bending single tree handrail going up the stairs. Lots of space for folks to stay and a beautiful backyard with a hot tub! Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our stay at the Laughing Bear Cabin. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The hot tub had debris in it (which was easy to remove). In the evening, we enjoyed the fire pit but would recommend some kind of lighting to and from the cabin. Perhaps solar lighting or string lights? We had to use our phones as flashlights to make it to and from the cabin from the firepit which was doable but would be more convenient and safer to have lighting along the stone steps.

A wonderful place , cozy, homey and a lot of history and the natural beauty surrounding. Peaceful. I wish I could stay all summer.only 2 things steps down to fire pit are difficult to get down need a few more solar rocks and a railing for us older folks and possibly a couple of better baking pans and another saucepan. Other then that a fantastic cabin. I admire the workmanship and quality of the cabin. Thank you so much for letting us stay there and I look forward to another trip there in future.

This is a quirky, cute 3 BR cabin. Lots of interesting touches such as door latch systems, carved and stuffed bears everywhere. Beautiful creek behind property, hot tub under the pines and a cool suspension bridge shortcut to town where groceries and restaurants are.
This is not a good place for people with balance or mobility issues- the toilets are in confined spaces and 2 bedrooms are up uneven stairs.
There is a late check in but owner allowed us to drop our stuff off early as place was unoccupied day before.
If you like log cabins I highly recommend this!

The cabin was cute and fun i loved it! Five stars. Just a comment for tall people, the shower is a small stall and all the bed rooms very cramped. I kept knocking my knees on the bed and hitting the walls in the shower. Also the hot tub had so much chlorine we had to get out because it was burning our eyes and skin.

Beautiful cabin in a gorgeous location and conveniently located close to Skibowl and Timberline! We loved the fire pit and being so close to the river. So tranquil and peaceful, and very comfortable beds!

Loved the hiking trails and scenic views near the property. There’s a beautiful river in the backyard area that has a bridge you can take to the main road. The cabin felt so homey and cozy 💕

This property is so historic and eclectic and relaxing and rustic and natural and weird. All in a fun cool way. If you’re accustomed to only the “Ritz” vibe this is not the property for you. If you want a true hand crafted mountain cabin in the woods experience go for it!!! Brad is responsive and helpful and doesn’t try to turn this historic cabin into something it isn’t.

This place is an amazing piece of Oregon history. We were in awe of the work that went into building this cabin. It was perfect for our two families and included everything we needed. The hot tub, sounds of the river and fireplace were well appreciated. Brad was a great host and was very responsive.

Perfect setting in the woods overlooking the river. Hot tub and river sounds, trails nearby, dog friendly, easy access to the mountain, walk to stores or restaurants. Happy Bear Experience

Cozy, rustic cabin nestled in the woods made for a nice stay with the fam. Loved the neighborhood it is nestled in. Beds were comfortable and clean and bedrooms were warm at night . Fireplace added to the rustic feel and helped to warm the spaces in the main living room the heater missed. Close to snow bunny for family sledding and delicious pizza at zig zag inn. Loved the wooden cabin feel that was consistent through the entire living space. You never forgot you were in the woods and you were set apart from the hustle bustle of the city (Wi-Fi good but not phone reception). The hot tub was clean and welcome after a cold play in the snow.

Very cute historical cabin that has been thoughtfully retrofitted with plumbing to accommodate a larger group. Nice and ample linens provided as well as toiletries. The hot tub was very clean and a great way to end the day on the mountain.

A few mishaps with check-in and electricity but all worked out in the end with a great Thanksgiving. Plenty of room to spread out. Exactly as advertised.

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin. It's a beautiful area and the craftsmanship of the cabin was unreal. Would stay again for sure :)

This cabin is perfect! Very rustic with a lot of character and charm. There's a plaque that describes how the cabin is one of a series built by a local builder between the 20s - 50s. It's very cozy and is a short drive up to the mountain. In the backyard there's a stone path that leads to a suspension bridge, which crosses the river and leads to a coffee shop! That was a great way to start each morning. It was the perfect way to spend a relaxing weekend with my folks who were visiting. Brad was communicative and friendly, and I would definitely recommend the property.
