Why Flamingo is the Place To Be
Flamingo is one of the most beautiful places in Costa Rica, with two resort-studded peninsulas and two beaches. It’s centrally located along a gorgeous coastal highway that stretches from Reserva Conchal in the south to Las Catalinas in the north. Flamingo’s easily walkable downtown features restaurants, bars, shops, real estate agencies and a pharmacy. Special Places of Costa Rica is headquartered in downtown Flamingo, and we wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. A world-class marina is currently under construction in Potrero Bay, alongside Flamingo’s North Ridge. And it’s a short drive from here to grocery stores, banks, medical clinics, hardware stores and other conveniences.
Beaches, Adventure and Much More
A string of dazzling beaches await the adventurous, and every water sport imaginable is available, including fishing, surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling and jet skiing. Land-based adventure nearby includes hiking, biking, ziplining, birdwatching, caving and the thermal wonders at Rincón de la Vieja Volcano, which is often called Costa Rica’s Yellowstone. The international airport in Liberia is less than an hour away, eliminating the need for a four-hour drive from San José. Flamingo is located in the province of Guanacaste, which even native Costa Ricans consider the country’s best vacation spot.
Sunset Heights 301 in Flamingo puts you within easy striking distance of all these attractions.

The Neighborhood:
Flamingo is a high-end beachfront community notable for its dazzling ocean views and the beautiful, hilly peninsula that juts out into the Pacific, separating Playa Potrero from Playa Flamingo.
Flamingo is home to a wide array of stunning homes and vacation rentals, as well as humbler lodging options, and it has restaurants, grocery stores, banks and other conveniences.
A brand-new, state-of-the-art marina opened to the public in 2022, with slips for yachts and fishing boats, condos for rent and all kinds of shops and restaurants. Other major developments here include the 360 Splendor del Pacifico luxury condominiums on top of the North Ridge, the Margaritaville Beach Resort, and the upscale Mar Vista housing development, where there’s an excellent private school called La Paz.
Good restaurants in town include the Coco Loco, a beachfront eatery known for its coconut drinks and standout cuisine; Marie’s, a reliable standard with a long and enticing menu; Angelina’s, featuring fine Italian dining in an elegant environment; and several options at the Margaritaville, including the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill.
Flamingo was largely developed by foreigners, and it lacks the traditional Costa Rican downtown with a soccer field plaza, church and school. The heart of town is an upscale commercial plaza with stone steps, fountains, restaurants and shops. Farther away on the road to Brasilito, you’ll find smaller restaurants, hotels, banks, hardware stores and the Super Massai grocery store.
Flamingo is more or less the centerpiece of a beautiful coastline stretching from the Reserva Conchal resort in the south to the Las Catalinas resort in the north, with the more traditional Costa Rican towns of Brasilito and Potrero in between. Flamingo is within easy striking distance of several beaches, including Conchal, Flamingo, Potrero, Penca, Prieta, Pan de Azucar and Danta.
Getting Around:
Our agents will be happy to assist you with renting a car, giving you the freedom to explore the area where you want, when you want. For short drives to nearby towns or beaches, golf carts are another popular mode of transportation. You can also rent a bicycle to ride around in town or beyond.
We can arrange transfers to and from the airport. Rental cars can also be delivered to your property at no additional cost, allowing you to relax and enjoy the scenery as our private van drives you here from the airport.
Taxis are available but can be a bit hard to find. Many locals use buses to get around, though there are a limited number of routes and times of day when you can catch them. Private shuttles can be a great option for traveling to nearby destinations, and many tour companies offer transportation to and from the tour. Our information brochure will provide you with useful information on local transportation options and points of interest, as well as contact information for taxis and shuttles.
Other Things to Note:
Special Places of Costa Rica is committed to protecting our properties and keeping up-to-date with short-term rental regulations, which is why you will be asked to complete our independent verification. Before your stay begins, you will need to verify your details with us to complete your booking. You will be contacted via email and/or text to complete the verification. You will also be given the choice between paying a refundable deposit or buying a non-refundable damage waiver. We suggest you buy the damage waiver as this protects you in case you cause accidental damage during a booking.

The location was great, clean and check in process was easy. We utilized our host for transportation and made arrival and leaving smooth. Only recommendation is some information in unit regarding unit itself, walkable shopping, restaurants and beaches. We will be coming back to Playa Flamingo.

Clean and great location
This property was perfect for us. Right amount of beds, clean and perfect location. It had all the kitchen tools we needed for the times we didn’t want to eat out and the walk to the beach was short. Loved that the pool was right outside the door for the kiddos to hop right into. Washer and dryer was super convenient as well. Wish there were more toilet paper. We had to go buy some, but honestly, not something we worried about at all. Highly recommend!

Playa Flamingo
The pictures of the place were very accurate and nice. The small pool could have been cleaner, however the larger pool was clean. The communication between the company/office was less then satisfying. Difficult to get ahold of and get responses. We were left with 3 small rolls of TP for four women for 8 days and had to buy our own TP and paper towels. It would be fabulous if the property stated that they were on a hill and walking may be difficult for some. Most importantly, that you need to rent a golf cart or car to go anywhere other than the beach. The road was pretty noisy. The area is, however very beautiful!

My most disappointing VRBO stay
The check in process was annoying to start with, but I won’t get into that. We were two couples traveling together for our final 9 nights in Costa Rica to relax at Flamingo Beach. We rented a condo as we love to cook. The first disappointment was that the condo kitchen had nothing, but an almost empty salt shaker. We had to buy salt pepper, sugar, spices, oil, paper towels, etc. Once we stocked the kitchen to cook a meal we found the oven would only cook on 1 temperature. You couldn’t warm anything and you couldn’t bake anything unless you wanted only 350 degrees, no warmer or cooler. Management said the oven was designed for only one temp. The condo was so poorly supplied, we were shocked. The shower in our bathroom had not just a drip, but running water leaking from the faucet constantly. We reported this and we’re told they wouldn’t be fixing it during our stay because it would mean tearing the wall out. We booked this condo 7 months in advance,, not sure why it wasn’t repaired before our arrival. Management was fully aware of the problem. The bathrooms had 1 hotel size shower soap and shampoo, 1 roll of toilet paper, and shaggy stained bath towels. When we asked for more toiletries and toilet paper, management told us the owners of the condo supply only the essentials. Silly me, I consider toilet paper an essential. We had to go buy a bar of soap and a supply of toilet paper. We were offered one maid service during our stay to change sheets and tidy up. When we turned the bed down that night we found that the maid had put on threadbare sheets with 2 large rips in them and laid out replacement towels more ragged than before. When I reported the torn sheets to management I was told the bed would be redone. No one ever came to do that, we did find other sheets and made the bed ourselves. For a 9 night/10 day stay, I feel like we were taken for a ride being treated like we were. The condo is furnished with towels that I would only use for our dog at home, and what sort of place doesn’t provide at least salt and pepper or toilet paper to their guests?
The condo complex was nice and I’m sure there are other rentals there that were nicer than ours, I just cannot recommend this particular condo to anyone.

This was our 5th time to playa flamingo and we really enjoyed our condo.
They had a dvd plAyer, which was nice, because I brought my 5 yr old daughter and she had movies to watch at night. The condo was clean and they had everything we needed. The only negative thing was there was outlet to charge our golf cart. We never rent a car and always get a golf cart. We had to drive down to our golf cart rental place every night and charge our golf cart. That would be they only thing this property needs to add.

Great location at Flamingo Beach
Its a pretty little condo, but small for 4 people though and not well stocked compared to other Flamingo and Tamarindo condos. Lots of road noise. Was under the impression that the condo would face Flamingo Beach.

Exactly as advertised
Perfect accommodations in the heart of Flamingo. The beds were comfortable, sheets and blankets nice quality. I was glad to see plenty of towels for the house and pool area. Air conditioning works great, showers were hot...we couldn't ask for anything more. Thank you!

Best Vacation
Flamingo was a delight. The condo was clean, nicely decorated, very comfortable and amazing views. I doubt we could have picked a nicer place. It is everything it is advertised to be. There were so many fun things to do and wonderful places to eat close to our condo. Definitely will vacation here again.

The condo was nicely decorated, clean and comfy.
We had a wonderful time in Playa Flamingo. The condo was very nice. Loved the décor. It was very clean. However, the property was not well kept. The infinity pool had a bunch of leaves in it. The main pool was nice but the landscaping was not that desirable. We really enjoyed eating at Coco Loco down on the beach. The food was delicious and the staff was great! You must try the coconut ice cream!!! We also had great meals at Maries and Lucy's.

Beautiful Property.
This property was very nice. Pictures represented it accurately. It was very clean and comfortable. Great view for the evening from the balcony. Sun rises on that side so it was hot early. I cannot say enough about this property. It was easy to get to, everything worked nicely, clean... Will definitely plan a return visit. Special Places (Phem) was very helpful. Check in and out was easy. Rented a golf cart from 'rent a golf cart costa rica . com' and it was perfect. Parking gave easy access to the room. Just a great place to stay. Highly recommend!!

Couldn't of asked for a better place to stay
The apartment is even better than the pictures. It had a washing and dryer machine which was VERY convenient. The view of the bay was beautiful. There's a small convenient store dow the street, which is a little expensive but there's also really good supermarkets in the area. Alot of good great food, horse back riding, jetski rentals around. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I must say this place also has a great pool with a beautiful view. And there's even 24 hour security at the entrance which made us feel extra safe.

GREAT STAY!
I would highly recommend this property if you plan on staying in Playa Flamingo. The condo was very clean, the beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms have lots of hot water. The balcony is really nice, and the infinity pool on the property is really nice. Close to restaurants, a small market, and the beach!

Stunning Views and Location!!
Can't say enough positives about our stay at this condo. Less than a 5 minute walk to the perfect Playa Flamingo beach. Walking distance to several great restaurants. This condo had everything we needed. The balcony was unbelievable. A perfect spot to enjoy a cold drink and a nice book. We will definitely be visiting Flamingo again and will definitely plan to stay here again and use Special Places for booking our stay. They were great to work with and helped us with our many questions.

Beautiful views and perfectly located!
What an an amazing place to stay! The condo is very clean and well-maintained. The bedrooms are quite large. It is super close to Flamingo beach and Potrero Beach. The large balcony was the best part of the condo! Amazing sunrises and a peaceful location. Walking distance to several restaurants. (Maria's, Coco Loco, The Shack, Monkey Bar and Angelina's). There was a guy named Tim selling the best homemade ice cream by Maria's restaurant, steps away from the condo. Playa Flamingo is a place I will definitely visit again. Whether it is with my wife and kids or a friends trip, this desirable condo is priced right and Special Places bent over backwards to make sure we had the time of our lives.
