About this house rental
Newly renovated ranch style duplex unit is conveniently located near the freeways for quick access to the local colleges and universities, local businesses, shopping and dining. Whether your stay is for business or pleasure, you will enjoy the privacy and tranquil environment. The main living area faces the back yard where there are three large maple trees that offer plenty of shade during hot sunny days. The backyard is fenced in for added privacy and security. There is also a fire pit in the back yard for a late evening marshmallow roast or just to relax by an open fire with friends and cold beverages. There's 2200 square feet of living area that includes the basement, which is 1/3 finished. The basement has an egress window that allows for additional sleeping space if needed. There is also a washer and dryer available for guest staying 5 or more nights.
Guest will have access to the entire unit and the back yard. Currently, there will be no access to the garage, but driveway parking is available as well as the parking space that is located on the right side of the driveway. During the summer months, you and/or your guest can also park on the street in front of the house. There is a city ordinance that prohibits street parking beginning November 1st through April 15, from 2am till 6am.
I'm your next door neighbor; however, I travel often for business and pleasure. When I am home, I'm usually just relaxing, watching sports or out and about doing some type of outdoors activity. I welcome you to knock on my door if you need assistance with anything or you can just send me a text message or call. Our interaction is totally up to you. My wish is to make you feel at home.
There is a mailbox in the kitchen that has menus from various local restaurants.
Convenient to freeways, shopping and dining.
KVCC- 10 min drive, Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo College- 15 min drive
The city of Portage offers an extensive bikeway system that allows users to enjoy nature and connects to cultural resources. Most of the roads have designated bicycle lanes and there are separate off-road trails for joint bicycle and pedestrian use.
The neighborhood is fairly quite. All of the homes in the Circle are duplexes, where roughly 40% are owner occupied and the balance are occupied by renters. The area attracts young families with children because of low vehicle traffic. It is not uncommon to see families or kids walking or playing in the streets.

Chris was very accommodating for our stay (family coming in at different times) and was very helpful. It is somewhat small but perfect for what we needed as we used it as a home base for visiting area family and friends. Great location!

Smaller than I thought it would be. Small master bathroom. Not a lot of room to walk around the bed in the Master. Nice to have 3 bedrooms

Golf weekend
A group of us came for a golf trip. The location was great, right next to the highway and minutes from lots of dining. We had a little trouble with the house code but Chris was able to help us out instantly. The interior was very nice and clean. The beds were comfortable and it was cool to have a grill and pool table there when we were relaxing. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone needing a place near Kalamazoo!

Family Wedding Hangout
We were 4 adults in town for a family wedding. It was a great place to hang out with each other as well as local family members. Also pretty centrally located for anything we wanted to do when not involved in wedding activities. Pretty much everything we needed.

Everything we hoped it would be
The house was clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals, and the gas / charcoal grill was very handy for the cookout we had with the kids and grand kids. While the 1/2 bath was a bit small it was good to have when the house was full of guests. The back yard was large and great for the grand kids to run around in.Chris was very nice and responded almost immediately when we asked questions .My wife felt very comfortable with the neighborhood and we both slept like babies. The location was very convenient to grocery stores and restaurants. We hope that the property is available on our next visit to Michigan . Thank you Chris for sharing this home with us.

We were excited to rent this property for a trip to MI for a family wedding last weekend. We made the right choice!!!Chris was easy to work with, very responsive and accommodating prior to our arrival, and friendly and quick to answer questions during our stay.Pros:Very clean. Lots of mirrors (we had two adult women and my 4 daughters all getting ready for a wedding and we were able to primp without crowding!)Great location.Comfortable and CLEAN beds and bedding and bathroom linens.Cons (more like surprises than negative aspects)This property is one half of a duplex, which was not clear prior to our arrival. No big deal, just a surprise. Thermostat was a bit confusing and changed (HOT) in the middle of the night.Bathrooms were tiny, but adequate.A few cosmetic issues throughout.I would highly recommend this property as an alternative to a hotel stay and would definitely stay here again if the occasion should arise. Thanks Chris!

Great host, great accomodations
Chris's house was the perfect place for us to stay in Portage. We were in town for a wedding and spent two nights. The house was beautifully decorated and he helped baby-proof it. At my request, he put away breakable decor at child height, put in some outlet plugs and left several childlocks in the kitchen. I could not ask that of a hotel! The bedrooms were perfectly quiet and large enough to fit our pack and play next to the beds (even with pulling down the top bunk mattress to the floor for the toddler). The backyard and quiet neighborhood occupied the kids and the kitchen was even stocked with some essentials. Chris was a great host. He let me know about the child-proofing items when we checked-in and had no problem telling us where the spare key was when we got locked out. We will stay again if we need a place in Portage!

Father’s Day hideaway
My brother Larry and I had a great time. Having this duplex to relax soon after spending a day with my hundred-year-old father was a blessing. Very nice place, and the owner Chris was one of the nicest people I’ve met in a very long time. Thank you for that

Massive yard! Perfect for a group
Chris was an amazing host. Many of the things you don’t expect to have thought of with a home rental were there. Our whole group felt like rockstars. Chris even went out to get us firewood and extra chairs. All around great experience. I highly recommend Chris’s place.
P.s. the yard is huge and great for backyard games.

Great Place!
This property was clean, well appointed, newly remodeled and tastefully decorated. The property manager was readily available, answered all questions in a timely manner and even baby-proofed the property when I mentioned that a ninth month old would be present. Beautiful comfortable house
The linen closet and the kitchen were well stocked. The mattresses were comfortable, even the twin upper bunk! Brochures and information left for guests was thoughtful and helpful. We talked about coming back to Western Michigan University to see a Broadway show in the future. If our schedules work out and we can do it, we would love to stay at this house again

Cozy place
The host had very good communication to ensure the stay went well. Would be a little small if you had 8 people for an extended stay, but was perfect for us. All appliances are updated. Great place!

Beautiful Upgrades, Large Living Spaces.
Home has been remodeled and decorated with excellence. Large basement for children to play. Couch accommodates a crowd. Beds are very comfortable.
Bathrooms are very small. No space for makeup or hair supplies. Lighting is beautiful, but not great for makeup application. One roll of toilet paper for six guests? First thing we had to buy.
Kitchen is gorgeous, but small and dining seating is only for four.
Overall, beautiful home with large living spaces and comfortable beds, but small dining and bathrooms.

Great location
The house is tasty decorated. It is located right at the intersection of I-94 and 131, and with lots of great restaurants within a few minutes drive. The owner is very nice and accommodating! Highly recommended.
