About this cottage rental
This Cottage House is located near the Potomac River in quaint Knoxville, MD. It is very close to Harpers Ferry, WV, Antietam National Battlefield, historic Sharpsburg, MD, the C&O canal and other local attractions. There are 2 homes available on the property. This cottage has a rustic charm and includes a full modern kitchen with island seating for 3, 1 full bath, 2 half baths, washer/dryer and sleeps 8 comfortably (we do have a $15 fee per guest after 6 guests, to help the cleaners with the extra laundry) .
Pets under about 50 lbs are welcomed at an additional fee of $40 per pet, per stay, but must be crated when unattended. I can make exceptions to the fee structure for small dogs or multiple pets.
The unit offers a large open space for enjoyable social gatherings and views of the mountain. The common area has oak hardwood flooring, and the bedrooms are floored with laminate/carpet. A front porch offers additional space for relaxing and entertaining, and the adjacent "nest" deck (shared by both houses) provides wonderful views of the mountains. The living area includes a convertible sofa that sleeps 2 comfortably on a new Ikea sleeper sofa. Bed linens for the convertible are stored in the sofa.
The bedrooms on the main floor have new memory foam queen size beds. The main level also provides a full bath with tub/shower combo, and an additional half bath. The quaint upstairs loft has full size bed and a half bath. All the furnishings and linens are new!
There are two houses on the property and we offer special discounts for renting both houses, check with me for details. There is a pet fee of $25 per pet. The fee will be collected via separate payment request.
In support of the global effort to conserve energy resources utilizing reasonable practices, we have installed Ecobee “smart” thermostats in all of our listings that the guests can also control. The thermostats are preset with a maximum heating setting of 72 degrees and a minimum cooling setting of 72 degrees.
Just 2 miles from the property, nestled in the rising foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains next to the Potomac River sits the Victorian railroad town of Brunswick. Conveniently located approximately 60 minutes from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Brunswick boasts glorious homes, an active city center, shopping, historical sites, a one of a kind railroad museum, dining and recreational activities. Brunswick is very proud of its rich transportation heritage and you can experience it for yourself by visiting the Brunswick Railroad Museum or participating in Brunswick Railroad Days in October, featuring live entertainment, train rides, model train show, crafters, food, and much more. Because the Potomac River is only a short walk from the downtown shops, recreational opportunities abound. The waterfront offers fishing, boating, camping, kayaking and canoeing, and the C&O Canal towpath is excellent for hikers, bikers and horseback riders. Finally, no visit to Brunswick is complete without stopping by Beans in the Belfry, a café located in a 100 year old, historic, restored church building nestled in downtown Brunswick.

House was clean, there was enough dishes to cook with. there is only one bathroom which worked out fine because there are two half baths. Joe was also pleasant to work with, it was my second time booking with vrbo, he made me comfortable with the check in prosses. planning a trip need a place that is centrically located and easy to find I would suggest you give this house a try.

I booked this property online as it received such great reviews. Unfortunately when we arrived, we were disappointed. The home had a musty, smoky odor and blankets that smelled like a dog. I think if it was cleaned better, it would make a big difference! Upgrades are needed as well, like a bathroom exhaust and new curtains. Also, the listing states both one full bath and two full baths! There is only 1 full bath and 2 half baths.

Friends of mine and I stayed here for a "tired-mom" getaway, and had a great time. Inside was clean, beds were comfy, linens and towels were great, and had lots of fun quirks to explore. (If you're over 5'8" in height, the upstairs loft area will be challenging for you to navigate! Great for kids though.) We really appreciated its close proximity to Brunswick and Harper's Ferry (under 10 minutes to both) which made it so easy to pop back and forth. So much nearby hiking as well, and close to more options in Frederick. Boxcar Burgers in Brunswick was fantastic! Would overall recommend this sweet little house.

A very cute rental!! This is right off the highway, but not too close for noise at night to bother you. However, like many cabins there were mice in the ceiling that would scurry around at night. This was a great rental for the price!

We came up for a weekend of kayaking. This property worked well. It is located a short drive from a few different river adventure vendors. It would comfortably sleep 2 couples and one single/or kids in beds and another person on a pullout couch in the living room . The couch upstairs in NOT recommended for sleeping. The theoretical sleeping capacity is 8, but it is practically more like 6. That said, it has a great kitchen and the rustic feel for which we were looking.

Good spot for a home base while exploring Harpers Ferry. Not far from most of the attractions. House was clean. One drawback....the house is close to the highway overpass so lots of car noise when trying to relax on the porch. The owners were easy to reach and communicate with.
