About this apartment rental
Ideally situated on a wide, tree-lined avenue, just 2 minutes' walk from the railway station and 8minutes' walk from the centre of town, this comfortable apartment has that rare feature amongst townhouses - a good sized garden, with orange and lemon trees. The apartment is the ground floor of an old house, built around the turn of the 19th century when ceilings were high, windows ornate and there was a general feeling of spaciousness. It has been beautifully renovated, retaining many of the charming old features (like a handy well just outside the back door!) and modernised in keeping with the same mood. There are three bedrooms: two doubles and one twin, and two bathrooms. Air conditioning in two of the bedrooms. The air-conditioned dining area and the adjoining kitchen both have tall double doors that open onto a totally secluded, paved patio with bistro tables and chairs, just perfect for a sunny breakfast - or for a shady afternoon tea in the heat of the summer! Off the dining area is the 'snug' - a cosy evening room with two comfortable sofas and a big armchair. The house is in easy walking distance of everything that beautiful Tavira has to offer, and is ideal for a car-free holiday. But for those with cars, there is parking on meters opposite the house and free parking close by. The house is right opposite a small, very peaceful square with exotic trees and flowers that has two cafés and a bakers. There is also a Lidl supermarket tucked away by the railway station, 2 minutes' walk from the house. The Avenida, although just a few minutes' stroll from the centre of town, is sufficiently distant from the town centre to avoid noise, and is an area that is mostly 'Portuguese' rather than 'touristic'. It is a wide street, only busy at Tavira's very modest 'rush hours' (Tavira is an extremely quiet little town), and lined on both sides with jacaranda and other trees. Our family of four persons enjoyed the stay in this spacious and quite town house with excellent air conditioning, a lovely garden including a grill and many trees very much. We spread out to using three beedrooms as well as the huge living room. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a separate room with a washing machine in the garden. The train station as well as a supermarket are very close and many recommend places like the castle and the museum are in walking distance of 5 - 10 minutes, the ferry to the beach ca. 15 minutes.
As for the nearby restaurants and and bakeries, it is hard to decide as so many are outstanding yet affordable, not to forget the surprisingly high quality restaurant actually right to the next door as well as the small take away shop close to the rail way. The short walk down the city center - especially for the concerts starting at 22:00 a clock - can be improved by not using the main road, but also the side roads providing a unique Tavira feeling.
We enjoyed our stay very much and recommend it also to families who seek a balance between outgoing and a quite hiding spot. Besides, we appreciated the ability to discover further spots on the Algarve by using the nearby train station, e.g. to visit Fuzeta, Faro or opposite direction Spain.
Last not least the appartment offers a good WLAN, a TV, books a vacuum cleaner, the mentioned washing mashine, and - given this hot summer - an appreciated excellent air conditioning.

We loved Tavira , a great mix of nationalities , ex pats and Portuguese.
A relaxed vibe with small shops and plenty of cafes to people watch .
Location of apartment was 5 min walk to Lidl and train station .
Walk down to ferry to access beach was about 15/20 mins.
The enclosed garden is a lovely space and we spent a lot of time there ,listening to the swallows
Apartment has everything a family would need and it has a useful utility room .
This isn’t a modern ‘done up ‘,shiny ,bland apartment… it looks/feels well lived in, but in a good way

Lovely spacious apartment in old building. Constantin was a very communicative host and his lovely friend Jane was there to meet us on arrival. The apartment is well equipped with everything you could need for your stay. Highlight for us was the beautiful garden shaded by orange and lemon trees that was ideal for lazy days at home. Approx 7 to 10 min walk to centre of old town .., possibly a bit longer on the way back because it was uphill! Nothing a fit person couldn’t manage tho’.Our fourth trip to Tavira and this must rate as oneof the nicest places we have stayed.

Charming 1905 apartment with high high ceilings and a fun boho vibe. Best part was the garden out back where we enjoyed breakfast and cocktails. Beautiful village, great location. The host was helpful and kind.

We had a fantastic week-long stay at Constant’s garden apartment. Our kids loved the backyard, finding fallen lemons (we made lemonade). The apartment is quiet, comfortable, and easy asking distance to anything in the city centre.
The friendly pasteleria just across the road was our go to for morning coffee.
Constant was communicative and responsive .
Highly recommend for a stay with kids!

thank you, we had a wonderful stay, lovely home really good location, only lost a star at the end because a couple of little things were broken (a couple of lights, one of the loungers..) and only possibly because they hadn't been reported before. otherwise really lovely spot for a restful easy holiday! happy to recommend, and look forward to coming again.

Quirky, traditional property with vintage charm, now ready for some TLC. Great location for the centre; 5 minute walk to Ponte Romana, bars and restaurants. The garden was a real bonus.

Our host met us at the apartment for check in. The property was a little older than we thought but there are a lot of similar homes in the neighbourhood. All the basics were in the apartment. Given the proximity to the beaches on Ilha da Tavira, a few beach towels would be appreciated to save luggage space. We loved the patio/ garden space where we were almost exclusively when at home. It was neat having a citrus orchard and to pick up fresh lemons daily. The town itself is beautiful with lots of shops, cafes and restaurants. Our host, Constant responded quickly to inquiries and dealt with a small issue within a couple of hours. We will remember this property. Thank you Constant!

Very enjoyable stay
This is a very traditional garden apartment, part of a larger elegant old property, with high ceilings and many retained features but having also been tastefully modernised. Everything was at a standard which matches the description and we had everything we needed for our stay. The location is also as stated, a short stroll into Tavira, no more than 5 minutes. A key bonus is the lovely garden which offers both shade and sunlight, depending on your requirement. We met the owner, Constant, and found him to be charming. He communicated very well with us throughout the booking to checkout process. Thanks, Constant!

Not satisfied
Not worth the price, too low standard.
However, good location in Tavira.

Our stay Sept 7 to Sept 18
We had a great time at Constant’s apartment. The check in was very efficient, he met us at the apartment and the pictures are just what the apartment is like. We loved the outdoor space: we had our morning coffee and our evening drinks in the garden, and it was lovely. There is a coffee shop right across the street, and we got fresh pastries every morning for breakfast. The Supermarket ( Lidl) is literally just up the street, and we could purchase all we need right there. Parking was not an issue for us: you can park on the street for 4 Euros/day and there is also a parking lot just up the street, so not a problem.. Constant even put a safe into the apartment, which is a nice feature, but realizing that Tavira is such a safe neighbourhood. The location is perfect: you just go down the street to hit the old town, and all of the lovely restaurants by the river or you can cross the bridge to more bars and restaurants. All in easy walking district. Highly recommend this apartment. Thank you Constant, we will be back.

Great apartment!
We had a great time staying at this apartment for a week. Smooth check in process, and apartment was well stocked with basic amenities. Though there is no designated parking spot for the apartment, we were easily able to find free street parking on a nearby street (200m away) each day. The apartment is in a great location - about a 5 mins walk to the river, and easy to get in/out of Tavira by car for day trips to beaches, etc. We were a family of 5 (4 adults and one toddler) and had plenty of space. The lemon and orange trees in the backyard were a delight for my 3 year old son! Thank you Constant for a great apartment!

Lovely traditional Portuguese town house
It is well equipped and very well placed to make a holiday easy, close to bars and restaurants, as well as supermarkets. It's very comfortable, and we enjoyed sitting on the patio looking at the orange and lemon trees.

Comfortable apartment and beautiful yard in scenic Tavira
We spent 3 weeks in this apartment and were very comfortable and happy with our choice. The ground floor layout and walk through from front door to back yard made it very roomy and accommodating for 4 people with bicycles. The back terrace provided a sunny reflector oven for morning breakfasts which we appreciated as the temperatures in December are cooler. We made good use of the barbeque and as the orange and lemon trees in the yard were in full fruit we made good use of those too. The street in front is fairly busy and there is a popular restaurant next door; neither of these things were a big problem in December but could be noisier in the busier months. Constant is very friendly and helpful and has done a good job of providing all amenities. The location is very convenient to everything, groceries, pastelarias, train station, bus, Tavira sights. We were sorry to leave.

An authentic Portuguese accommodation in an ideal location for exploring both city and environs.
This is a comfortable city apartment, located on a busy street, beside a successful restaurant. The apartment provides a glimpse of the past, due to its heritage and many authentic aspects. The garden patio and outdoor grill allowed us to enjoy the mild November weather. We enjoyed the scent of orange & lemon trees as well! The ideal location allows the guest to walk easily throughout town and to the beach. Easy access to the train provides the opportunity to explore the Algarve’s fine towns at a modest cost.
Our host Constant graciously answered many questions and was attentive to our requests. He also introduced us to his friend Eduardo who facilitated some tours and gave us great background on this area.
We highly recommend this apartment and may return in the future!

Great holiday
Really enjoyed our week in this house.
Perfect location, near supermarket , restaurants and shops. It was only a 10 minute walk to the ferry for the beach. We hired bikes and cycled to beautiful Barril beach (25 minutes) away.
The house was well equipped with comfortable beds. We loved having a garden, with patio furniture and lounge chairs.

Perfect Getaway
We stayed in this charming apartment with our two teenage children in the October half term week. Constant, who is most helpful, was there to greet us when we arrived and show us around the apartment. It is full of beautiful old world charm and felt so spacious because of the high ceilings. It is just a short walk to Tavira town centre which is gorgeous with lots of restaurants serving delicious food - we felt spoilt for choice. There was enough to do and places to explore to keep two teenagers happy! We took the ferry to the beach - which was a wonderfully relaxing day. The train station is about a 3 minute walk from the apartment. We took the train to Faro one day - only 22 euros return for 4 people. We walked to the pretty village of Santa Luzia (about a half hour walk on good pavements). It's a proper working fishing village with a splattering of cafes and restaurants along the sea front. We certainly didn't need a car as there was so much to do in the immediate vicinity - especially as we were only there for a week. We used a taxi firm called Algarserra for our transfers from and to Faro airport who were excellent.
Both the town and Constant's apartment are gems and we would definitely love to stay there again. Brilliant holiday!

Felt like we lived in Tavira. Lovely neighborhood and residents. Close to everything. The garden had fruit trees bursting with ripe lemons and oranges.
We will return!

Lovely apartment, very well equipped, very good location - Constant was really helpful
We really enjoyed staying in Constant's apartment. It has a lovely garden with a variety of fruit trees and nice patio.
We were 2 grandparents, our daughter and son in law and their 5 month old daughter. Apartment has 3 bedrooms, nice kitchen, good dining area with a sitting room off and 2 bathrooms - one with shower and one with bath and shower over. There is also a pantry and a utility room with washing machine.
The owner, Constant, could not have been more helpful.
Apartment is really well located- about 2 mins walk from Tavira train station, 3 minutes walk from Lidl and 5 minutes walk from town centre. We hadn't hired a car and didn't need one. There are cafes close by and a variety of restaurants in the town centre.
Tavira is a lovely base for a holiday in the Algarve and Constant's garden apartment was perfect for us

An in town Paradise
We had a wonderful three month stay at the "Garden House" from the beginning of January this year. It is a lovely ground floor apartment in a traditional well equipped Tavira home with lots of internal space, with a large outside area with as lovely terrace, which we used frequently for meals including breakfast on the 7th January!,
The garden extends back with Orange, Lemon trees fruiting and in blossom and the Almonds in blossom, the scent was 'heady' and beautiful.
The house is in a superb location near to the centre of town, with train and bus links to explore further afield, with beautiful walks to beaches, villages, and remoter places, Spring time in the East Algarve is a wonderful time to visit if you wish to see wonderful visas of wild flowers and avenues of fruiting trees.
The owner 'Constant' kept in touch to ensure that we had a really good time during our extended stay. We confirmed to him that it was good, by booking for the same period in 2018

A charming Portugese home away from home!
We had a lovely week in this charming, authentic, large and very well appointed apartment! The owner Constant - also charming and courteous - met us and gave us the tour, as well as pointing us to helpful directions and information about where things are in the town.
This was our first visit to Tavira and to the Eastern Algarve, we usually head west. What a beautiful town. Even though it's busy, it's so chilled out. Loads of restaurants and bars to choose from, some lovely shops and of course the beautiful bridge.
The location of this apartment couldn't have been better for us, we opted not to have a car this trip. The train station is just at the top of the road. A cheap and stress free way to travel.
Town is less than a 5 minute walk away and another couple of minutes to get the ferry to the beach.
The apartment had everything we could have needed. It was clean, airy, with beautiful features, we fell in love with it. The shutters keep the light, and any noise (although it's not an overly busy road) out. The air conditioning is very good too.
We will be recommending this apartment to our friends and family and we really hope to return in the future.

very nice location , we surely will come back here
Very much enjoyed staying in this fabulous old house - it feels more like a house than an apartment, so spacious. Great to have a garden with orange and lemon trees so close to the town centre. Lovely quiet avenue with nice little square opposite and a bakery for fresh bread every morning, and very close to the station, although no disturbance from trains. Perfect location.
