The house is amazing, and the setting is even better. From the pond driving in, to the beautiful setting with pool and 2nd pond seen from inside the house, this location keeps on giving - and surprising.
We had 4 couples who didn't know each other come from all over the country, and it was a perfect place for each of them to have their own space, but get to know each other in the common areas. The house is really well equipped for large group meals and communal get togethers, with an inviting dining area overlooking the pond, a beautiful living area with a big fireplace, and a number of outdoor areas (that we couldn't use due to pouring rain, but fantasized about how fun it COULD be). We did get out in the rain to walk around the pond with the dog and one guest was brave enough to venture into the swimming pool, despite the thermostat reading 58 degrees. The outdoor areas are tricked out with all kinds of toys (adult and kid), and we look forward to renting again when the weather allows us to use them.
The house has beautiful and comfortable furnishings and
the kitchen and bar area are very well equipped. The beds are comfortable, too. Our only issue with the house, which others have noted in reviews, is that the bathroom situation is odd. One room has no shower, and one room has no bathroom at all. It worked out okay, just a little inconvenient.
Overall an amazing experience and I will rent this house again if the opportunity arises.

Distinctive Architecture in Pastoral Setting
My family enjoyed its stay at Two Ponds, a house – or, rather, a compound – with an interesting architectural design, which has its benefits and drawbacks. The big benefit is that there are effectively three separate houses, so that guests are not on top of each other. The most significant drawback is that there are no restrooms on the main floor of the main house, though there are two full bathrooms and a powder room downstairs.
The grounds are as they appear in the photographs, with a clean swimming pool in a beautiful setting and two ponds (thus the name): one as part of the view from the dining room and master bedroom, and the other visible from the long driveway taking you from Beale Road to the house. The large pond has a rowboat and kayak for more intrepid souls. If you prefer to look at the pond, you’ll also have a view of birds of many colors visiting the feeder hanging from a tree near the house. There is a helpful laminated booklet with drawings of the local birds.
A big benefit, which we didn’t know before we needed it, is the presence of a backup generator. One night, the vicinity was hit by a ferocious thunderstorm. Power went off for a minute or two and then kicked in again – thanks to the generator, we later learned. Half the town was without power, but we were spared.
For those traveling with young children, it’s good to know that the pool is largely fenced off, certainly from the main house, so it’s not easy for a child to wander in. To be sure, parents should keep their eyes open, but there is some protection. The pool is also heated. The owner asked us to turn off the heater after we were finished swimming for the day, to conserve propane, and we were happy to do so.
Abi, who looks after the house for the owners and shows visitors around the property, was fantastic, helping us out with a light fixture that blew a fuse and any other issues that arose. She was quick to respond and friendly at all times. She’s a big plus.
If you are bringing food with you, you’ll be pleased to know that there is a second refrigerator in the garage, increasing your storage capacity. (There is a Price Chopper supermarket about 5 miles away.) In case you run into rainy days, the house also comes with a substantial library and selections of CDs and DVDs.

The compound is very appealing from the photos and so much more in person. For 10-12 people, you can be together or seperate and that's the beauty of the place. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen and bathrooms have everything you need. Town is so close, there is shopping, dining, etc. The bathroom situation is a bit odd so you need to roll with it and enjoy the entire experience. Not great for older people or handicapped . You can swim, BBQ, fish, hike or relax. The wildlife was abundant. Great TV and stereo. I would definitely come back. If my family stayed in a hotel, there would never have been this kind of experience being together. It truly is like "Home Away".
