About this villa rental
Greek Tourism Authorization No.MHTE 1042K10003000801
Its award winner architect has come up with a design, for a luxury, yet easy-going, country home that combines traditional elements, (like wide stone walls, exposed wooden beams), with modern ones (like folding glass panels, interior light wells, lookout decks at each floor) to offer residents the sense of being secure and cozy, while open to enjoy the panoramic views and the docile Cretan climate – the best there is! Standing on its 2000 m2 of olive groves, with 12 x 3,5 m private pool, the villa is located at an idyllic countryside spot of Nea Kydonia, from where it’s just 10 min drive to Chania town, and 800 m to Kalamaki’ sea, with many sandy beaches nearby. What previous guests have loved most was the feeling of spaciousness, the communication and free lines of vision that the light wells allowed, the opportunity to enjoy being outdoors at the patio, the dinning terrace and the pool, the décor’s equilibrium of earthly colours and materials with aluminium and modern fitting.
Accessible features:: Step free entrance to main floor. Wide entrance doors, all doors 75-90 cm wide, Bedrooms with room to manoeuvre. Twin beds can be made 45 cm high. A cargo lift (80cm X 110cm) gives access to all floors, but it's permitted to be used only to facilitate guests with mobility problems at theirs or their guardians' responsibility. There are two accessible bathrooms. One in the main floor with accessible sink, 45cm high toilette and accessed by a ramp 0-12 cm high. Its bath-lid is 53cm high and it has a portable bath seat. Altenatively can be used as a shower room. And one in the ground floor (roll in shawer), 45cm high toilette, gripping bars, adjustable shower-height.; All entrances are step free. Step free access to the pool. Accessible open air cinema in garden by the pool .

This is the perfect property when traveling with a large group. Enough space to stretch out and not feel like you’re on top of each other. The kitchen was well supplied and big enough for several cooks at once! The AC cooled the house down and was very comfortable during a few hot days we had. We also enjoyed the pool after long days of sightseeing. The house is close to beaches, restaurants and grocery stores. Kostas is a wonderful host and responded timely if we had a question or issue.

We had a lovely stay at Villa Catani. It was perfect for our group of 3 families (6 adults & 7 children age 6-14). Lots of space to hang out together or find somewhere for yourself. The outdoor seating areas had beautiful views and the villa had everything needed for our stay.
Our host, Kostas was wonderful and kindly provided tips for restaurants, beaches & sightseeing.

We had a wonderful time at villa Catani! As a group of 15 (8 adults. 7 children) we loved the villa with its stylish quirks. The communal areas are comfortable and spacious, with the outside balconies giving the opportunity for some beautiful views, particularly at sunset. We loved spending time around the pool. Kostas and Katerina are awesome hosts, always available and extremely welcoming and helpful. A holiday we will never forget. Hopefully we will be back soon! Thank you Kostas & Katerina!

An unusual building design - with all the accommodation in the main building, and outside dining and relaxing areas on 2 open sided verandas, catching the cooling breezes - the top one being popular for chilling.
Everything was all one expects from a villa of this size.
But by far the biggest plus was the welcoming host, Kostas, who met us on arrival - guided us round the villa and provided excellent advice on everything from restaurants to beaches.
We would recommend Villa Catani to any of our friends & family

Large family house with all the querkiness associated with a gradual build. The property is decorated with the proprietors own paintings leaving you with an impression of different themes as you move between rooms. External facilities incl shaded seating, eating and the pool more than adequate. Internally, the lounge and dining area can get a little tight for large parties. However, weather permitting, most will spend their time outside. The owners live next door and are always on hand to give helpful guidance on local facilities. They rear some turkeys and ducks and have some domestic animals as well that our younger family members enjoyed.

Surrounded by a lovely olive grove, the extraordinary architecture of Villa Catani made our holidays an unforgettable experience. A seperate construction with comfortable and spacious terraces on 2 levels provided a great view on the waterfront. We extremely enjoyed our stay with the greater family, including 4 little kids. We were heartily welcomed by our host Kostas, who constantly cared for our comfort and gave us a lot of useful tips. Due to the pleasant weather - even at the beginning of november - we enjoyed the well-maintained pool as well as the nearby beaches. We really can recommend this hospitable and extraordinary location.

As three families, 14 people, we spent 10 days at Villa Catani. The house is beautifully designed for the climate, having a outdoor lounge area which is great for a sundowner, and an outdoor dining deck. For sleeping, we were also able to split youth and adults between the three floors. Kostas is the most welcoming and relaxed host. A lovely man who checked in with us during the week and gave us figs, honey and great advice about the area.

50th Anniversary Gala
We gathered at the villa with 5 adults and two children from America and 5 adults and 2 children from Denmark. The villa accommodated us all perfectly.
It is classy but comfortable with common spaces to take advantage of sun or shade. The bedrooms are all excellent and the kitchen is beautifully equipped. The pool is perfect for grandparents, parents and children.
Kostas is a delightful host combining Greek wisdom and philosophy with practical advice on restaurants, beaches and sights nearby to go with his delicious apricots, marmalade and welcoming treats. He thoughtfully made all areas safe for the children.
This was a vacation we will never forget and we hope you will have the pleasure of enjoying it too. You will not be disappointed.

Wonderful house, great location
We were quite a large group (11 adults and 5 small children) and this house was fantastic. It was large enough with multiple outdoor balconies and that we could relax together without worrying about waking up the babies. The pool was well covered at the shallow end too which helped with the young ones and the bbq was unbelievable. The nearest mini market is 10/15 mins walk away which we liked to do to get fresh air. It’s down quite a steep up but we all managed fine with this even pushing prams up in the heat.
Kostas was a lovely host helping us settle in and provided a taxi number as we didn’t hire a car. You don’t really need a car for this house unless you are planning excursions, we managed to do everything by walking (shopping/restaurant/beaches) or taxis (big shops/water park) and rhe taxis were never too expensive esp considering we usually had a full cab.
All in all a great house with fab hosts. Perfect for large groups that don’t want to drive and plan on relaxing pools days with some beach action and restaurants…oh the water park is a strong recommendation too. We went late May and it was completely empty - good for really young ones too

A stunning and comfortable villa - communal spaces and privacy combined
We had an amazing time staying at Villa Catani in August 2021. We were three families with 6 children (a total of 12 people) and this place was great for us. The Villa is spacious and airy with cleaners coming in twice a week to change bedding and freshen up. There are many brilliant spaces for anyone staying at the Villa to use including a large outdoor dining table and several other seating areas. The highlight for the adults was the wonderful upstairs outdoor seating area/balcony with huge cushions and loads of space for all of us to relax with a drink etc once the children were in bed and watch the sunset/night sky and hear the sea.
There is a well equipped kitchen and all the essentials are provided.
The pool was excellent and all of our group had a great time making use of it, particularly the children some of whom barely came out of it the whole holiday. There is a shallow end for little ones and a deeper part for others and plenty of loungers for those who want to relax in the sun around it as well as a handy shaded seating area next to it. The villa is set amongst picturesque olive groves just off the road down to the seafront.
A word about the layout - there are three large double rooms on the first floor and one on the ground floor of the main building. The other two rooms are a separate downstairs studio accessible through a separate entrance. This allowed all of our party to feel properly spaced out and not on top of each other with two standalone bathrooms and three en suites.
The villa is quite well located with a walk of around 15 mins to a lovely beach (it’s closer to get to the front but worth a slightly longer walk to the sand and amenities e.g beach bars, that Kalamaki beach offers). Galatas is split with half of it inland of the Villa and the rest along the sea front. Whilst most tourists head to the front which is lovely, it’s worth a look at the inland part which includes the amazing restaurant Mastrapas which will give a proper snapshot of brilliant local cuisine and atmosphere.
Kostos and Katerina couldn’t haven’t been kinder and made our visit so smooth and pleasant. From the Greek pastries provided on arrival to the information on local attractions and services, to the fresh figs brought round part way through our stay they were the perfect hosts and we were so glad to be able to stay at their wonderful villa.

Staying at Villa Catani
We stayed at Villa Catani for 11 days and it was lovely. It was spacious enough for 4 families with various terraces and places to go and admire the wonderful views. It had a rustic charm about it, felt safe for children and set in a wonderful olive grove. The pool was perfectly placed with shade at one end or if you wanted to go to the beach, it was a pleasant 10/15 minute walk. Kostas was very accommodating and hospitable and I would highly recommend staying there to anyone.

Our large family group loved our stay at the villa. It was the perfect size for our group with wonderful balcony views. The pool was nicely maintained which was perfect for afternoon dips on those hot Crete days. Highly recommend!

Wonderful holiday in Crete
We travelled from Ireland to stay at Villa Catani for 12 nights in June 2019, our party was made up of 6 adults and 4 teenagers. We all had a wonderful holiday in Crete and the house was a fantastic base for exploring all of this beautiful region of Crete.
Our host Kostas met us at the villa and had kindly prepared a delicious homemade Greek snack for us which was very welcoming after our late-night flight. He was an excellent host and extremely helpful throughout our holiday with any queries we had.
The house provided plenty of space for everyone with lots of outdoor seating areas to relax. The house was very spacious with a great pool there were plenty of sun loungers and shaded spaces to sit if needed. The house has beautiful views over the olive groves and in the evenings the views of the sunset are spectacular out to the sea.
The air-conditioning was great, silent and very cooling. The villa was cleaned twice during our stay and we were provided with clean sheets and towels.
We enjoyed may evenings BBQing and eating outside at the large dining table. We also walked to the local restaurants at Kalamaki, we can recommend Nesaki (excellent pizzas) and Salavantes.
We did many trips from the house including a trip to Balos Beach and Elafonisi beach, two of the most amazing beaches in the world and to the local beaches of Kalamaki and Iguana beach.
The house is close to the beautiful city of Chania (10-minute drive) where we enjoyed lovely dinners in the evenings and great shopping.
We hired a private boat for the 10 of us from Chania and had a wonderful day with Manos and Billy on the traditional Greek boat https://www.manoscruises.com/ We went snorkelling, jumping off the boat and we enjoyed an amazing BBQ prepared by Manos on the boat. This was one of the highlights of our trip.
The waterpark is only a 15-minute drive away, it was very well organised and we spent the whole day enjoying it.
We loved Crete and staying at Villa Catani made it a very special holiday. I would highly recommend it.

Excellent family holiday
We were a mixed group of 10 people with an age range from 06 months to 71 years old. The villa lent itself perfectly to our group. The downstairs is almost like a separate flat with lots space and a variety of beds plus lots of toys etc for the children. There is also direct access to the garden. The rest of our party was spread around the ground and first floors. The villa is very well appointed and we were all extremely comfortable. There were at least 5 different outside sitting places which we used according to time of day, where the sun was, who was around etc.
It was a 10 minute walk to the sea from the villa and then another 5 minutes along the coast road to the beach. We had a choice of 5 beaches which were all walkable from the villa and many restaurants and shops. Bit difficult with a pushchair though as the climb back up the hill to the villa would be a bit tiring and hot with small children.
I recommend Balos Beach (without small children) but if you go please go early. Absolutely stunning. We left the villa at 07.30 and were parked by 08.45. There is then a 2km walk to the beach but it is worth it. We left at 11.00am and met hoards of people arriving. Some had to park 5km before the main car park as the beach became so busy. That means a 7km walk to the beach which is too far! I would suggest getting there early or don't go at all. Samaria was closed on the day our group (without children) wanted to walk it but we walked the Irini Gorge and did a few other walks out of the book.
Kostas was very helpful with the few queries we had and I can thoroughly recommend staying at Villa Catani.

LOVELY VILLA
We were welcomed to the villa by Kostas who was waiting to show us around and provided us with some delicious hot home-made snacks. There were 12 of us sharing the villa and we found it spacious with lots of really good seating areas outside and the kitchen was well equipped. We used the local taxis quite a lot and found them very reliable and their prices were reasonable. The restaurants in Kalamaki were good, but if you want to go to Chania it is only a short taxi ride away. Chania is well worth visiting during the day for sightseeing and it's lovely to have an evening meal at one of the harbour restaurants.

We were a large group of 13 and an infant, spanning 3 generations, and this villa was perfect for us, with room to spare. The outside space is huge, with 4 different covered balcony areas for dining and relaxing, with all the gardens, the pool area, and the large barbeque. Bedrooms were spacious and the kitchen had everything we needed. The furnishings were excellent quality, comfy couches , decent outside chairs and tables, and decorated in a homely style with art work , mirrors etc.Unlike other properties we have stayed in, the owners didn't remove all useful things left by previous occupants, so we had lots of herbs, spices, olive oils,l washing powder etc that we could use, even beach towels that had been left behind. Very helpful.Kostas greeted us warmly on arrival - an excellent host - with some home made snacks and a bottle of wine, which was unexpected and very welcome. There was even a variety of blow up airbeds at the pool and childrens' toys downstairs . I would recommend this villa to large groups who like places with masses of character - this Villa has loads. Kostas couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. We hope to return there again one day.

Absolutely Fabulous
Thanks so much to Kostas and Katerina for letting us stay at their wonderful villa. Location is absolutely perfect, we were a family of up to 11 at one point all mixed ages from 18-50. You can walk down to the beach or take a short drive/cab so some of the other beaches. Supermarkets 10 minutes away, chania town and platanias with restaurants, bars & clubs also just a 10/15 minute cab/drive. The villa is perfectly equipped for large groups, you never feel on top of each other. Also perfect for families with small children as well as teenagers and adults. We fell in love with Crete and will hopefully be back soon. Thank you again for an amazing holiday!

What a find !!
What a find ! This must be one of the best villas in Crete. It is spacious and well suited for our family party of 13 adults. It's slightly unusual layout and Katerina's painting all added to our enjoyment. It is within walking distance of tavernas and the sea. There is also a bus service into Chania - which solves the problem of driving and parking in Chania! Kostas was very helpful in giving us hints about the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Villa Catina and would love to return.

Beautifully located, wonderfully designed, peaceful family friendly villa.
Katerina and Kostas provided a very warm welcome including snacks when we arrived at their beautiful villa.
It is a perfect venue for a big family get together or opportunity to bring friends together. The rooms are all good sizes, comfortable and nicely decorated with Katerina's fascinating art work.
There is everything you need for your stay, plenty of towels, soap, toilet paper, tea, coffee, spices and condiments, (although you really need to sharpen the knives Kostas!). Kostas and helpers cleaned for us mid week and did a fantastic job, fresh towels for all. The only slight issue is the quality of some of the showers which would be more of an issue if you had the maximum occupants in your party, but it didn't really bother us.
The outside areas of this villa are what really make it. The pool is fantastic, it was pristinely clean, there were plenty of sun loungers for all and it's such a relaxing area surrounded by gorgeous olive trees.
Happy evenings were spent around the large dining table having used the huge built in BBQ, and the lower floor balcony was perfect for game playing.
The jewel in the crown for me though was the upper floor balcony, it's a cosy area furnished with lots of cushions that provided a lovely area of shade in the day, cooler as it's high up and catches the breeze from the coast. In the evening there are tealight lamps to keep the cosy atmosphere and you can lie back and look at the stars. Magical.
The location is also really good, it's a 5 minute drive to the beach and amenities, there are some fabulous tavernas on the seafront and the beautiful harbour of Chania is near by.
Kostas is a warm, engaging host who is on hand to help with anything you need and quickly responded when we contacted him.
I'd highly recommend this place and would love to visit again one day. Thank you so much Kostas for everything we had such a lovely time.

Exquisite property, everything from the layout to the location was perfect.
Upon arrival my 9 friends and I were blown away by the beauty of the property and its location.
The owner, Kostas, greeted us with a smile and some delicious homemade Greek snacks and enthusiastically showed us round the villa, which is bedecked in beautiful paintings by his wife, as well as all the comforts that make the property feel like home.
The bedrooms were comfortable and roomy, we were 10 young males and none of us was left wanting.
The pool was as clean and immaculate as the villa and caught the sun the whole day with a lovely shaded area for those who want to keep a bit cooler.
The villa is also ideally located 10/15 minutes walk to the nearest shop and a 10 euro can ride to the bars and clubs for the nightlife was perfect. Allowing us the remote chilled atmosphere during the day time as well as the easy access of food and activities during the evenings.
I would recommend this property to anyone of all ages, the were plenty of board games, cuddly toys for younger ones, balconies for a more relaxed daytime snooze and much more.
I wish I could give this villa more than 5 stars, it was 10/10 just like the owner.
Thank you again for an amazing week Kostas!

A perfect holiday
I recently visited Kostas and Katerina's amazing villa for a weeks holiday with 12 friends. It was the most amazing villa and even these beautiful pictures don't do it justice! It is surrounded by olive groves, but still a ten minute walk from local shops and the sea, and an easy bus ride to chania town. It could not be in any more beautiful location, and we had glorious weather even in april for relaxing by the pool. There are plenty of things to see and do locally, or if not there are lots of activities to do at the house. The house was clean and well equipped, especially with a huge BBQ to feed 12 every night! On arrival Kostas provided us with snacks fresh from the oven and local cretan wine. We very much enjoyed our stay, thank you Kostas!

A faire !!

Blown away by Villa Catani
First impression was that Villa Catani really is fantastic in so many ways. The photos do not do it justice! We were blown away by the villa itself, the building is beautiful and has been constructed with a great deal of thought and love. It is really spacious and has excellent facilities too. We loved everything about it! Kostas and Katerina, the owners, are such lovely and accommodating people and really made us feel at home and relaxed. We would love to go back one day and would certainly recommend this Villa to anyone looking to go to Crete!

Onvergetelijk verblijf in Villa Catani.
We voelden ons meteen thuis.

Perfect place for family vacation in Crete!!
Our family had the privilege to stay at the wonderful Villa Catani for a week (Oct. 2014).
We were 6 adults this time but sure enough this large and fully equipped villa is suitable for much larger groups.
The villa is beautiful from inside and out and Katerina, with her great talent, decorated it with her impressive works of art.
The location was ideal for visiting Chania and the surrounding. We even drove to the amazing beaches of Balus and Elafonisi in charming relatively short one day trips (about an hour and a half drive from the villa).
To conclude, the vacation was just amazing much because of the location and our most wonderful hosts Kostas & Katerina !!!!

Wonderful villa for a large group!
We were a group of 3 families including 6 adults, and 8 kids. This villa was FANTASTIC for us! It's set up perfectly for multiple families to enjoy each other but have some space if needed. Kosta's and Katerina were helpful hosts, and even gave us info for a car rental (which saved us money), as well as info about the area, and recommendations. I cannot say enough about what a great experience it all was. I highly recommend this villa!

Wonderfull house to spend your holiday
The description regarding the location is worst of the reality. The house is really big, well mantained and well furnished. We were 11 guest from 16 to 54 year aged and all of us agree the this place can be reccommend to our friend as the rigth place to go on holiday. We are Italians and so we have used the kitchen and the big barbeque to cook fish and meat like we use to do in Rome. The restaurants where we have eaten were been really good and the relation between cost and quality was heigth .

What a great place!!
This villa exceeded my expectations. It was an interesting, fun, and yet very practical and friendly place to stay. Our group had a great time exploring the surrounding areas, or just relaxing by the pool. The facilities were fantastic, and I truely think there was nothing extra we needed or would have liked, except that is to have stayed longer. Thank you Katerina and Kostas!!

We were in this wonderful villa in april 2009, with a group of 11 people. The villa is great!! Enough room for all of us,lovely bedrooms/bathrooms and a very nice good kitchen!
The outdoor living space is wonderful, with a great view and a lot of space. There is also enough space to park a few cars. We even had 2 cars and 5 motorbikes and no problem at all to park them. The garden is big and the swimming pool is spacious enough for everyone. We had some great BBQ evenings on one of the terraces. Upstairs there are 2 washing machine,s which can be very handy!
Katerina and Kostas are very friendly and helpful.
I can recommend this villa to everyone as very nice and clean (twice a week people came to clean the villa). Also for children there is enough to do (table tennis, games, dvd player, pool)
To get to the beach you don,t even need a car, only to reach the big supermarkets you have to drive about 10 minutes.
This villa is the perfect place to stay for large groups of people!!!

We even had 2 cars and 5 motorbikes and no problem at all to park them. The garden is big and the swimming pool is spacious enough for everyone. We had some great BBQ evenings on one of the terraces. Upstairs there are 2 washing machine,s which can be very handy!Katerina and Kostas are very friendly and helpful.I can recommend this villa to everyone as very nice and clean (twice a week people came to clean the villa). Also for children there is enough to do (table tennis, games, dvd player, pool)To get to the beach you don,t even need a car, only to reach the big supermarkets you have to drive about 10 minutes. This villa is the perfect place to stay for large groups of people!!!

We had a wonderful time at Villa Catani in october 2008. The house itself is very spacious, even for the 14 people our group consisted of. It is very childfriendly. It has everything you want for a week or two of a relaxing holiday: Great view, far away from noisy roads, yet very close to Chania and /or beaches. The interiour is modern and cosy at the same time, with many nice details. The space around the house is great, as is the swimming pool.
The only thing you have to keep in mind is that since the house consists mostly of wood, and the architecture is 'open', it can be noisy. If you are with a group with different wishes considering bed time etc, this is thing you need to think about.
Mostly a rental house is a bit less great when you see it for the first time, compared to the internet pictures. Villa Catani was even better than we expected. We will definitely come back!

A truly impressive house, inside and out. We were a party of 9 and there was plenty of space for all, with beds to spare. The villa is superbly equipped, particularly for wonderful meals in, and the location is perfect--the sea and olive groves with few other houses in view, yet just two minutes from the National Road and easy access to Chania and other spots on the island. The pictures here and on the owner's site are just a taste of the pleasures of this house. I heartily recommend this property for any group of up to 12-14 people and commend Katerina and Kostas for their terrific service and helpfulness to their guests.
