Laura's Lookout at Palmetto Beach, Avenida Mangle, Caye Caulker, Belize.
Laura's Lookout is a beach front property located on South Caye Caulker, north of the islands airstrip. Conveniently located only a short 5 minute bike ride or a 10 minute walk to the downtown area, the house and it's surrounding area retain the unspoiled, quiet nature Caye Caulker is known for. The views cannot be beaten anywhere on the island.
The interior layout is perfect for either a family or group of friends, with two bedrooms with queen beds and a full bath downstairs and a more private suite upstairs, with two twin beds that convert into king bed if you would prefer, again with it's own full bath.
We have added two futons in the living room for groups of singles who would prefer not to share beds. Additionally, air conditioning is provided with their own separate controls in each room. The living area features an open floor plan that includes a modern kitchen with a full appliance range, a washing machine area for your use, a dining area and lounge area with flat screen TV; a movie library and wi-fi are included.
Without doubt the very best feature of the house is the full length, private front deck off the living area. Commanding unbelievable views of the sea and the second largest barrier reef in the world (560 mi) Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, it is truly breathtaking and not to be missed. It is only accessible through a door off the kitchen, ensuring privacy for all, with two Belizean woven hammocks for afternoon naps, and plentiful comfortable outdoor chairs.
As you leave the house down a short flight of stairs, you first encounter the 35 x 15 foot private outdoor pool, available only to our guests in our 4 homes, sunken into a wood deck that respects the palm trees that were there before and many chaises for sunbathing. Turning the corner to your right around the house, you encounter the man made beach area, jutting 50 feet into the sea, this provides another area in which to relax and enjoy the sun, there are a couple of palapas on the beach if you want to avoid the sun and corn hole as well as ladder toss to entertain you. Finally, just beyond the beach area, you come upon the 300 foot dock. With three separate entrances to the water below, there is room to dock your boat (if you have one!!), 6 pods extending outward for more room and a palapa at the end of the dock if you require shade. Covered with chaise lounges, you would be hard pressed to find a better place on Caye Caulker to just sit and relax, or watch the incredible sunsets.
Behind Laura's is a tranquil palm grove with BBQ facilities including picnic tables and a giant Jenga game. Paddle boards and kayaks are available for free, Beer can be bought at the front desk by the bottle, the bucket or a whole case. You can also rent bikes and golf carts at the front desk or book tours with anyone of the many tour operators on the island for fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving or sunset sailing cruises, our staff are there to help. Bikes and golf carts are a great way to tour about the island...a wonderful adventure for most any age! We have children's bikes, child carriers, and cribs upon request.
Laura'a Lookout at Palmetto Beach has been fully designed with safety and security in mind. There is protection on all first level windows, there is only one entrance to the house, accessible from the pool deck, away from public paths. Additionally, we have an on site, 24 hour security guard.

We absolutely enjoyed our 4 day stay at Laura's Lookout. The house is the perfect size for my family of 5. It is very comfortable and well-equipped. Our favorite spot is the porch while our grandson loved the pool as it was nice and clean. The location was great as it was away from the busier part of town and yet only a 10-15 minute walk to the restaurants and other activities.Tim and Debbie provided excellent service and were very helpful in every way.

We just returned from a week at Laura's Lookout. Five friends from college celebrating our 50th birthdays! We moved from the porch, to the dock, to the pool, to Weezies restaurant and back again every day. Walking to town was a breeze and we didn't ever rent bikes. It was windy enough that we didn't use the SUP's or kayaks but loved that they were available at no cost. Staff were super helpful and swapped out towels and water when needed.
Helpful tips:
-There is sunscreen and bug spray that previous tenants have left
-There are a few rafts in the pool to use
-Massage booked through Weezies is wonderful
-Reports are that the futon is more comfortable than most futons
-Sit on the porch in the evenings and watch the lightening storms over the ocean
-Stay in Laura's Lookout - it's worth the extra $ to have the amazing view!

Owners/managers were always responsive and in a very timely manner from very beginning. Answered every question I had. Once there, staff were immediately responsive to requests, needs or questions. The home is spacious, clean and has two futon beds in addition to bedrooms so the 6 of us each had our own bed. The kitchen is well stocked and we cooked dinner and sat around table to eat for many meals. There’s a wonderful restaurant next door that we enjoyed several times also. The front porch with view of ocean was our favorite place to gather as a family and at any given time one or two of us were always out in the hammocks. There are grocery stores and restaurants close by and quick walk in to the busier part of downtown and the split. If you dont like to walk you can rent bicycles or golf carts. My 18 year old grandson played basketball with a group of local boys for the last 3 or 4 nights and my 13 year old granddaughter and 20 year old grandson joined the last night. We walked the 1/2 block to the airport and flew out on our last day. Otherwise, used water taxi to Ambergris and inland Belize.
My only small complaint is there was no shampoo and no hair dryer which were listed in amenities but there was plenty of hand soap and bar soap. I cannot recommend this place enough and plan to go back and stay again. I did not want to leave the home or the island.

Bike rental should be included. $15bz/day for rusty bikes was disappointing. Otherwise the property is amazing with friendly staff. All furnishings are in great condition and comfortable. The sun towels were an appreciated item. It was nice having a washer in the unit. The tray of bug spray, sunscreen and aloe were very appreciated when we just needed a small amount of something, my assumption it was items left by other guests. Great to reduce waste too.

I can’t say enough about my getaway to Belize. Laura’s Lookout is a beautiful home. I believe i5 has one of the best views on the Island. Staff were always helpful and attentive to any requests. They arranged several outings such as Cave Tubing and a Sunset Cruise. I loved the location. I would definitely return to Laura’s Lookout and highly recommend it to friends and family.

My family of six stayed in Laura's Lookout for nine nights. The location is great as long as you are willing to walk 10 minutes / bicycle 5 min each way to town (which we found quite enjoyable), the room/apartment is really quite nice, we felt very safe, the pool was wonderful, and we really enjoyed our stay. I think this might have been a little "fluky" but the first day the WIFI didn't work, the second night one of the AC units failed, a couple of outlets in the kitchen didn't work, there were a handful of light bulbs burnt out, then in the second week almost all of the tiles popped up and off the veranda/deck. It felt like maybe the property was neglected a bit prior to our arrival. The ownership group was responsive to the reservation (and a one day blunder I made) on-site staff were good, they seemed a little under prepared but they did a pretty good job overall. All of that being said I would definitely consider returning.

We spent 4 nights at beautiful Lauras Lookout! The property was well maintained and the staff was so attentive and wonderful. They even were able to accommodate our unexpected change of plans when our flight was changed by the airlines!! We rented bikes and rode everywhere. It was ideal. Highly recommended!

This place is amazing and we will definitely be back. The house was very clean and the staff attentive. We were greeted as soon as we got there. We used paddle boards and went kayaking. The pool was kept clean, it was very quiet and peaceful, there is an on-site restaurant that was delicious. It also has a bar so you don’t have to go far for anything.

After seeing the whole island I feel that we got to stay at the nicest, best maintained, cleanest and best located place on Caye Caulker. Away from the center but in walking distance, close to a great restaurant, friendly staff, pool and ocean access, beautiful views, very clean and well kept home, great amenities (although no dishwasher) and well connected to local tourist attractions offered. The property managers took great care of us and made our stay special. It was perfect and we may have to come back for more of Laura's Lookout!

Amazing accommodation!
We had the best time in this holiday accommodation. The house had everything we needed for our extended family. The house was large, very clean and the balcony overlooking the ocean was spacious and really special! The kids also thoroughly enjoyed fishing off the end of the jetty! The location was excellent - just out of the main town but you could still walk if you wanted or ride a bike or catch a golf cart taxi. The pool for the property was excellent! We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.

Beautiful stay
The house was even better than the pictures showed. The view from the deck was definitely the best part. We loved the dock and pool. We rented bikes from the property manager for $5USD/day which made it quick to get to the split and any restaurants. The house has everything you need. We really enjoyed our stay!
