About this villa rental
MELOGRANO FARMHOUSE shares a wonderful intimate family heritage with its guests. The Villa is owned by a renowned Tuscan family belonging to the art industry and dates back to the 1700’s. The villa is located in the village of Segromigno, which is just 10 km from the historical centre of Lucca and just 40 minutes from Florence, The sandy beaches of Versilia and the world famous UNESCO sites of Cinque Terre.
MELOGRANO FARMHOUSE is located in the heart of Tuscany on the side of a hill and it is surrounded by wonderful vineyards and offers a truly splendid view of the countryside. The villa is stone built and has been completely refurnished to create a truly elegant and accommodating family villa. Many summers have been spent by the owner’s family within these walls, many fond memories and amazing kid’s adventures have been experienced among the old olive trees and plants in the surrounding well-kept gardens of the house.
MELOGRANO FARMHOUSE has been completely renovated in a truly authentic Tuscan style and each single piece of the furniture and decoration tells a story: it can be a gift from a loved one or a family friend visiting the villa, it can come from the grandmother’s home on the italian mountains, it can be a wedding gift or a souvenir from a special trip around the world.
The villa is located on the surrounding hills of Lucca at less than 15 mins driving from the town centre.
It is conveniently located, with easy access to Pisa and Florence, to the beaches at Forte dei Marmi, and to the undiscovered northern tip of Tuscany, Garfagnana and Lunigiana. This pretty house is in a very peaceful position surrounded by lawns and olive groves and with a lovely top view of the countryside. The Hayloft, a few metres from the house, has been converted to provide additional accommodation and the property has been provided with Wi-fi internet connection. The structure of the property and the spacious living area make it suitable for two families. There is a 10 metres infinity pool overlooking the rolling hills and the lush greenery all around. The villa itself is 300 sq metres and the hayloft is 100 sq metres. 15,000sq metres of land surrounds the villa 'Melograno'.

We had a wonderful stay at Melograno with our daughter and son-in-law. Everything was clean and ready to use. The property is beautiful, up in the hills with views down towards Lucca. With the 2 houses, we had plenty of privacy and space. We even used the pool a couple of times. Making the arrangements was easy and our deposit was returned in a timely manner.

Amazing views and location. Three generations of our family came for 2 weeks (we all wish we had come for longer). We had a wonderful time in the pool, food at the surrounding trattorias, local wine and olive oil tasting. Lots of places to visit. Very helpful staff especially Christina

We´ve been at the location 4 years ago, so we found everything again to our full satisfaction. The warm welcome, the charming house and garden, the quietness and the near city of Lucca, all was very nice and as expected.
A clear 5 star house

The house and property had such a wonderful feeling and we instantly felt at home. The house had everything up could need and was vacation ready upon checkin. Communication with the team was excellent and the chef service was outstanding. Would definitely book this property again.

The house and grounds were nice and we had a great stay. Lots of privacy and not to
far from the supermarket about 12min drive.
House was clean and tidy but needs some attention to detail to make it a great house.
Unfortunately the area was swarming with horse flys particularly around the pool. Also there were huge and I mean huge hornets nesting in the smaller house roof. As in many houses there are normally fly nets on the windows to stop flys coming in. Because there weren’t the windows had to be kept shut making the house very hot with little air movement.
The description of the house said it was an infinity pool. It most definitely was not an infinity pool. A pleasant non heated round pool with about a 8inch gap from the pool to the top. Sadly none of the lights worked on arrival, we asked for them to be fixed as we enjoy an evening swim but never received any replies.
Being so remote you are likely going to cook at the house so I would suggest bringing your own knives, even the bread knife couldn’t cut bread as it was so blunt.
So overall a nice stay but needs work to make it a more enjoyable stay.

Wow, what a beautiful week we had at the Melograno farmhouse. ☀️We stayed with 10 people and we had everything we needed. The house was spacious for 10 people and was clean. Of course it’s an old house so the doors creak and the windows squeak, but that’s what gives the house so much character. We enjoyed long sunny days by the pool and exploring the area (wine tasting, canyon ziplining, visited Lucca). Highlight of the day was watching the goats come by 🐐 The house is quite far out from supermarkets & other villages so a car is definitely essential! But if you’re looking for a quiet Tuscan getaway this is it 🍝

Brilliant villa, lots to do in the area
Villa and hayloft are a great combination of old traditional (original brickwork and some decor) and modern (WiFi, good dishwasher, pool etc). Well cared for and kitted out with most of what one could need (nice touches like table tennis and welcome wine). Lots to do in area but our kids enjoyed the pool too much for us to do justice to it all. Great local eateries (2 walkable, just). Friendly and helpful local agents and very nice owner. Only minor niggle was odd check out process where the cleaners arrive an hour before you have to leave! Anyway, highly recommend this villa!

I can't recommend it enough
An ideal place to unwind out of season as well as the obvious summer dates. Transport was easily arranged on the advice of the very helpful Mrs Sonia and her staff. The accommodation is very clean and comfortable; well presented with a delightful living area with great views from the big windows to soak up some much needed sunshine. The welcome pack was a very nice touch and saved the us from the usual arrival angst when self catering.
The location was very quiet with no intrusive traffic noise but just in a 15 mins drive from the city centre of Lucca: a real bonus!. The local facilities are within a walk if you like to walk and explore the area, with the beach close by as well as main sites such as Montecatini, Montecarlo, Pistoia, Cinque Terre, Pisa and Florence.
This was an excellent venue for our 2 weeks break which helped to fully recharge the batteries. We will be back as soon as we can.
Our thanks to Sonia for a really place to stay.

We have booked the holiday home with a group of eight people for one week in September. The complex, which consists of two separate houses, is located slightly above the small village of Segromigno in Monte and is about 20 minutes from Lucca by car. Surrounded by a beautiful garden and olive groves, the house is well equipped and has a large pool. Maurizia, the owner of the house and her representative Christina are very friendly and were always available for us and very keen that we could enjoy a nice holiday week.

Tranquil rural location not far from restaurants and cultural experiences, with excellent pool.
We go away as a family once per year and this was voted the 'best ever'.

Lovely house in a beautiful setting
We had a wonderful time at the villa - the weather was perfect and the house was charming. Our children loved the pool in particular and playing in the garden. The only suggestion I can make is the pillows could be upgraded- they were very thin and hard. I would definitely return though. Grazie!

Lovely property
Spacious property.
Nice welcoming touches by owner providing fresh fruit, veg and wine on arrival.
Approach road a bit tricky especially in a bigger car. No air con. so difficult to stay cool.

Picturesque Family Villa
Our family of seven adults had a once in a lifetime stay at this charming villa nestled in the hills outside of Lucca. From the start our host Cristina was welcoming and helpful. She also hosted a cooking class for our group right at the villa. It was informative and lots of fun to spend time with Cristina, her daughter and partner. They spoiled us with their Tuscan cuisine and entertained us with their cooking tips! We took day trips each day to Florence, Chianti, Siena, Cinque Terre and Livorno. We also explored the local vineyards in the Montecarlo area. Each night we looked forward to returning to our comfortable home for the week. We especially enjoyed the peaceful grounds and pool area. We took full advantage of the outdoor dining spaces. We all hope to return to this special place!

thanks once again!
Dear Sonia, it was our pleasure to come back to Lucca and rent another charming villa from your selection. Seeing how much you love looking after your houses inspires us to keep looking at the marvellous pictures of your Lucca homes and planning another visit next year. It was the best stay all over Italy and we will be lucky to replicate it when we come back next summer.

Beatiful setting. Rustic charm.
We received a warm and friendly welcome to this characterful late 18th century former farm house. Set slightly above the valley, the south facing garden offers superb views and is equipped with a south and a west facing patio area, hammock, table tennis table and a good sized pool. The garden is a delight. Plenty of grass area and a variety of small trees and scented roses.
With your own transport it is a good base for visiting Pisa, Florence, Luca, Barga.
Just one serious negative. It think it would fail a fire safety inspection. I did not see any fire or CO alarms. I do not recall seeing fire extinguishers. The 'Hay loft'[ smaller building on the right] was of particular concern. The upstairs windows do not provide an escape route as they are blocked by a lattice of brickwork. The nearest exit is a small window on the half landing.
Couple of minor points. Some of the kitchen equipment could do with updating, such as the provision of casserole dishes and dish towels.
Please get some fire safety advice. If this is carried out I would then strongly recommend this property as an ideal base for experiencing northern Tuscany.

A wonderful holiday in Tuscany
We spent a week here at the end of October. The bedrooms are really comfortable and each one has large beds and upscale bathroom The outside of our room was covered in wisteria and jasmine which must smell amazing in the summer. The villa also has a large, well-equipped kitchen-diner and a comfortable sitting / dining room. It really is just 2 minutes drive from shops and groceries and in 10-15 mins drive from Lucca town. Our host Mrs Sonia was superb and so sweet and she was available whenever we needed to ask for suggestions. The pool is set among the olive groves and it is equipped with sunbeds and a lovely wood gazebo right outside the living room. We will never forget our trip to Lucca and our stay in this amazing farmhouse! The owner has left notes around the apartment to help you deal with plumbing, electricity etc. We followed the instructions and had no problems.

Lovely Tuscan holiday
A wonderfully equipped and positioned farmhouse. We were a family of 9 of 3 generations on a big family holiday and stayed for 2 weeks, the farmhouse is really secluded but central for all the key places you could wish to visit in Tuscany with Lucca being a real gem . Can highly recommend riding bikes arround the battlements. The farmhouse is well equipped with everything you need ,the pool is lovely and a real asset in the hot weather. The interior of the farmhouse is cool and comfortable with lots of comfy seating and the hammock outside was a real favourite with our family . The maid service was provided twice a week although only changed the sheets once during our stay and although pool towels were provided these weren't washed by maids during our stay so we washed them ourselves also loo rolls were only provided at the beginning of rental ! It also needs mentioning that in this part of Italy recycling is prolific and you need to remember each night to put out next day's collection ! We ate out mostly on our days out but locally AndreasPizza takeaway was fabulous and El matteo nearby has the best steak we have all had in a long time along with Butterfly a nearby Michelin starred restaurant. We had a wonderful stay and thanks to Christina for meeting us so late on our arrival ,just one footnote don't hire large cars as the route from village to farmhouse has a very narrow lane .

you can't find a better place in Tuscany
Stayed in Villa for 2 weeks between August and September. Villa is huge with great views from high on top on mountain. Only 10 mins drive to Lucca, 40 minutes to Pisa and 45 mins to Florence. Made arrangements for tours, cooking class with Villa owners which were great. Also BBQ night using Villa's own wood bbq outside was a memory for lifetime. Infinity pool was great way to cool off after a long day of touring. Host provided maps, navigation and phones which made finding places to see/eat easy. If you are staying in Tuscany you can't find a better place

Melograno farmhouse
Melograno farmhouse run by Mrs Sonia and her aunt Maurizia is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed at. The villa overlooks the Tuscan countryside which is some of the most beautiful land I've ever seen! But the Villa itself? Wow! So gorgeous! Truth be told, we spent a lot of time in the kitchen cooking, drinking grappa and laughing. Our hosts told us of all of the places where we could visit, places to eat, and places to tour. One of those places in the town is called Da Pasqualino. They had the most incredible braised beef we have ever eaten! And, although the owners didn't speak English and we didn't speak Italian, we got our point across to each other. They were amazing and gracious. The town of Lucca is old and very interesting and we highly recommend visiting. There's a place there that makes handmade shoes according to your design. I can't remember the name but I'm sure that if you ask, you'll find it. We could have spent a lot more time in Lucca but ended up going to Florence and Pisa and spending lots of time at the Villa. The pool is beautiful and overlooks the countryside. We spent a lot of time outside at the pool having wine and cheese and chatting. I should mention the pizza party...wow! I think my pizza won...well, as far as I'm concerned. Sonia showed us how to use the pizza oven and how to prepare the crusts and put together ingredients. But we were certainly free to do our own, which we did! I made a provolone, mozzarella, parmesan pizza with a garlic and olive oil sauce and capers dotting the top. It was fabulous if I do say so myself. Overall, it was a great time and a beautiful place to stay. I highly recommend it!

Wonderful place and service received
We spent two wonderful weeks at this villa in September this year. The description and photographs of the property are entirely representative: there are no unpleasant surprises. We were delighted with the property, the location and the service we received.
Both the main villa and the hayloft are spacious and comfortable. The pool is amazing and very well equipped with a soft sunbed for each of the 10 of us.
The location is certainly perfect for sightseeing, shops are within a three minute drive and the villages of Segromigno, Camigliano and the wonderful Montecarlo which has plenty of good restaurants, are very close. Lucca is very accessible (within a 10 mins drive), as are other medieval, hilltop towns. But we found sitting by the pool or enjoying a meal or glass of wine in the garden equally appealing prospects.
Mrs Sonia and her aunt were very friendly, took care of any small problem, and also hosted a visit at the winery for us, which we all enjoyed. Mrs Cristina cooked dinner for us on our last night, and it was spectacular!
Everyone in our party of 10 would look forward to another opportunity to stay at the villa in the future.
Thanks Sonia!

A Memorable Stay
Our family of 10 including 2 hard to impress teenagers, spent 2 weeks at Il Melograno during July 2012. Owners Mrs Maurizia and Mrs Sonia provided invaluable assistance, and of our 5 weeks of travel in Europe staying in some great places, our family all agrees that Il Melograno was our most special and memorable place to stay.
The house is large, full of character and comfort, and most important given that it was cosy and cool for a summer stay. It was also clean and very well equipped. We spent many relaxing hours at the magnificent pool and alfresco under the rose veranda with a large stock of traditional local food and fine wines, and plenty of books and other materials available inside.
The position is magnificent, and the views and walks very lovely. We did see as much of the area as planned, but had more time to enjoy the house, relax and gaze over the views from the garden!
The owners are very sweet, they were very concerned for our satisfaction and they treated us like member of their family, they are not people who simply collect a rental fee and leave their guests to fend for themselves. We were absolutely satisfied and we are happy to have found a place where we can come back next summer.

a lovely experience!
5 adults and a 14 year old just spent a lovely week on the property. It was just as advertised. The owner was very welcoming, accommodating [even bought a brand new washing machine] and helpful. The property is very clean and well maintained. The view is lovely and the swimming pool was a lot of fun. The owner also gave several good restaurant recommendations. You definitely need a car. We did day trips to Chianti, "San G," Cinque Terre, and Portofino. Pisa is less than an hour away and the walled city of Lucca (with bicycle ride around the ramparts!!) is not to be missed.

A memorable stay at melograno
We stayed at Melograno on a friend's recommendation and we did not regret it. The owner, Maurizia, made us feel at home and provided us with usefull informations to make our trip memorable. The location is ideal, very close to Lucca, the grounds are well maintained and what about the view, breathless. We had the opportunity to really enjoy the villa because everything is so close and can be done in a day trip. Everything was very clean and functional for our family of 10. We would definitely recommend this villa to anyone. If we are to go back to Tuscany, this would be our place to go back. Thanks Maurizia for a memorable stay.

A perfect retreat in Tuscany
The property turned out to be everything we had hoped for and more. It was in a beautiful setting away from the crowds we had been experiencing in the major cities. The welcome basket, use of the computer and the emergency phone were thoughtful added touches. Maurizia the owner was a delight and very helpful. We loved coming back from a day exploring the beautiful area and sitting on the terrace in the pretty garden. We particularly enjoyed the two tours of the area recommended in the House Book. As we were travelling for 5 weeks we appreciated having a washing machine to catch up on laundry. The pool is fantastic with a stunning incredible view over the valley. We sat and drank wine under the TUSCAN SUN! Everything from our first contact with owner was an enjoyable experience and we would highly recommend this property.

A little piece of Tuscan heaven
We had the privilege of staying in this property in May with seven other friends and absolutely fell in love with the place. Quite honestly, the beautiful pictures themselves don't even do justice to property. It's location is prefect for exploring the Tuscan countryside, assuming you have a vehicle (I would not recommend it without a vehicle).
The rooms were very comfortable - all with bathrooms which was exactly what we required. The place was very clean and well-kept and the grounds were idyllic. The pool area especially could have merited its own postcard. I almost had tears in my eyes the first evening I wandered down to the pool and saw a gorgeous Tuscan sunset on the hillsides to the tune of the church bells ringing on the hill just opposite the property.
The owner recommended great places to eat and we had a professional-grade kitchen that fit all of our in-house dining needs. Quite honestly, we could not have found a better spot and plan on going back next time we travel with a large group.

Beautifully appointed spacious villa
Our family have just returned from a great week's holiday in the villa Melograno, There were 10 of us, 2 old codgers (my wife and I) 4 other adults and 4 children aged from 5-15. All of us agreed that it was one of the best holidays we had had as a family and would do the same thing again. Apart from being a well appointed villa with bags of character it was so good to have so much space. The main house is over 4000 sq ft and the old barn over 1000 sq ft. The views from the villa looking out over the infinity pool are spectacular, the gardens are well maintained and there are plenty of eating/relaxing areas. The chidren particulaly enjoyed the video facilities (they took their own videos) and usually spent a couple of hours watching one while we sat outside in the warm evenings with a bottle (or was that 4) of wine. There is a well stocked small supermarket about half a mile away and a good Agritourismo retaurant which Stefano will direct you to some 4-5 miles away. If you need any other details please feel free to cantact us.
