About this chalet rental
This exquisite 3 bed ski/walking chalet is in Wengen in one of the most outstanding areas of Switzerland. The Eiger, Jungfrau and Monch mountains provide an breathtaking backdrop to some spectacular ski and walking trails. The highest railway station in Europe is only a short train ride away with glacier walks and views that will blow your mind! The chalet has a wrap around balcony with sweeping views of the Lauterbrunnen valley from the Jungfrau to Interlaken.
The Journey to car free bliss
Park in Lauterbrunnen and take the small cog railway to the village of Wengen where you will find the chalet a 8 minute walk away in a quiet little area with epic views.
The Space
The chalet has every amenity for a truly magical mountain experience from the fondue and raclette to the balcony seating that offers you an unrivalled view of the mountains and valley that make this area of Switzerland so special. It is a home from home and has everything you would need to dine in including spices, oils, tea, coffee - everything that you don't want to have to buy and then leave!
The chalet featured in Homes and Interiors Scotland Magazine Nov/Dec 2017 edition and was described as " A cosy, stylish escape with plenty of rustic charm".
The Area
Ski Season
The busiest time on the resort is when the World Cup Downhill event takes place mid January, it is one of the classic races in the skiing calendar and is a really big deal. Around 40,000 people descend on the village and it takes on a carnival atmosphere for 3 days - it is nothing short of crazy!
For the rest of the winter season the area has a much more sophisticated relaxed vibe and you sometimes feel that you are the only person on the slope, even in the kids school week! The village is really small with a bakers, cheese shop, restaurants, bars and two awesome interiors shops.
The resort is a bit of a well kept secret, I am sure the Swiss want to keep it for themselves, however those that do find there way there end up never going anywhere else - the beauty of it gets under your skin and keeps you coming back.
Spring and Autumn
In the spring and autumn this really is a special place as the village is quiet and you feel like you have the lower mountain walks to yourself. There are a few restaurants that open all year round and the quality of the food is superb. Our favourites offers local game dishes during the autumn served with roasted chestnuts, red cabbage and spatzeli, a local dish that is awesome! If you want to cook in there is a Coop supermarket and local shop in the village that can cater to most culinary needs. There is also a local bakers and most importantly a cheese shop where you can get in touch with your alpine self with all the mountain delicacies! There is a lovely walk from the chalet down to the valley floor where you can pick up a trail that takes you all the way up the valley to the cable car that takes you up to Murren - a must if you are exploring the area!
Summer
Wengen is an all year round resort and in the summer the walking is sublime. You can walk straight from the door of the chalet where you will be in the heart of the most beautiful scenery anywhere on earth (OK I am biased) The Jungfraujoch, the highest mountain railway in Europe, is accessed from the station which is a 7 minute walk away. Package tourism started right here when a certain Mr Thomas Cook brought the first guests to Wengen in 1863. In that group there was a young lady by the name of Gemima Morrell who kept a diary of the adventure and has now become very famous with tours named after her. During a telephone conversation with my Fathers’ s cousin, Margaret Morrell, it transpired that I was distantly related to Gemima! She was blown away by the scenery in this area and it is easy to see why when you visit this very special region.

We loved the town, location and views of the apartment! We struggled with directions to the property though and ended up lost walking around trying to find it for a hour with no response to messages or a phone call to Suzanne for help, so that was very frustrating. The directions provided were not the route we walked to get there, so we’d recommend a bit more or ready to communicate as people we asked weren’t sure where the house was and our phone data wasn’t working for maps. Overall the place was worth the hiking to and from it and we enjoyed the neighborhood cats. It was a little hot and we couldn’t find which furnace was on, but opening the windows helped. We loved the area and already miss it. The local bakery was an amazing breakfast spot and Crystal Bar was super welcoming and had good pizzas.

The property was exactly as described and offered us a perfect mountains oasis. Would definitely recommend and hope to rebook again.

This chalet was reasonably priced for busy season travel to the Wengen. The Chalet is 5 mins walk from Wengen railway station. Our entire experience was very positive about this property i.e. price, check-in, communication with owner, facilities, space etc.

The view is amazing, can see the valley floor and waterfall up the end of the valley. The space is nice and roomy and the owner responses quickly, especially through WhatsApp.

Our family loved the quieter village and it was still quick, very efficient to travel around Bernese Oberland region from this relatively central location. The views from the balcony were magnificent and changed dramatically during the day. The house worked perfectly for our family of three. The kitchen was one of the best equipped we’ve found after years of VRBO rentals. We tried to adhere to the nightly quiet hours but it took some adjusting early in the trip Recommend arranging for grocery delivery from Dorflade for the beginning of the trip. We used the SBB Half Fare Card to buy the BO regional pass and Jungfraujoch so we didn’t spend as much time as I’d like in the village. But just a great reason to return.

Wengen - Wow! And what a perfect chalet to experience it from. It is cozy, beautiful, well-located and….the view! I jokingly said that postcards must have been invented here because otherwise no one would believe that such a place exists.
The decor of the chalet is beautiful and cozy. It invites “hanging out”. The glass doors that accordion open to the deck let you fully immerse yourself in that view. Six of us (three couples) enjoyed the house immensely. The only thing to note is the bathroom situation (not a problem, just different). Some bathrooms have showers and some have toilets. And all have sinks. But there are not “full bathrooms” that have all of the above. But even with six unrelated couples, that wasn’t a problem at all. We chose who was going to do what, where and all was good. The kitchen is one of the best-outfitted I’ve ever enjoyed in a VRBO. Clearly this is a home that the owner loves and enjoys (and who wouldn’t!). My one piece of advice - add at least a day or two to your planned length of stay. There are so many things to see and do in the area that you need time to experience those, while leaving time to simply enjoy the chalet as well. It would be criminal not to have a day (or two or three) where you just lounged around the chalet, read a book, and allowed yourself to simply “be” in that amazing environment.

Great space for large groups. Cleanliness needs improvement.
Just wanted to say, Suzanne has been very responsive and helpful despite traveling herself. When we arrive, you must realize it is a 10 min walk down a steep hill to get to the chalet. Please do yourself a favor and call for a luggage taxi! Going out on day trips is definitely a hike up and down that hill!
There are some quirks about the place, but I guess it gives it some character. The sliding doors to the bathroom and shower upstairs are semi transparent. We found cookie crumbs on the bed, floor, and dining table upon arriving. Recycling is done up the steep hill next to the train station (10-15 min walk). The view is amazing and we really enjoyed having breakfast and coffee outside in the balcony.
Overall it was a very memorable experience !

Amazing location and Chalet
We had such a great week staying at Chalet Sulegg! The views from every room were amazing and the Chalet was perfect for us-3 adults and 3 teenagers. We especially loved the large table on the patio and spent a lot of time out there enjoying the view of the valley below. Glad we got a luggage service to help us coming and going. The Coop in town is right by the train station so it was easy to buy groceries when we arrived. The Chalet kitchen had everything we needed to make great meals and fondue. Suzanne was very helpful and gave great tips and information for both the chalet and the surrounding area. We would love to visit again and would definitely stay here!

Our Families stay in Wengen was a dream !
The home was very nicely outfitted for our party of 6. There is a bit of a walk from the train station to the chalet that we really came to enjoy after a day or two.
It is worth noting that you should hire a local taxi to bring your bags from the train station and back if you have more than a backpack to transport. The walk can be a bit too much with bags of ski gear which we had.
Also would have loved to have access to a shopping cart trolly in the chalet to use to get groceries in town. Not having one prevented us from bringing a box of wood for evening fires down as well as more than 2 bags of groceries at a time.
This is just our take on things but we also felt like the bed pillows in the chalet needed upgrading. They felt like they’ve been well used - a bit too well used.
But truly , overall a very very comfortable stay for our family. 💖

Magical spot with beautiful views in Wengen!
Our hosts paid careful attention to every detail and we arrived to find a flat that was spotlessly clean, with amazing views. The kitchen is perfectly stocked for meals at home after a day of skiing and hiking. Beautifully decorated and super-comfortable, we were very sad to leave!

Fantastic chalet
We had an exceptional time at Chalet Schulegg. The home was chic and well-stocked. The beds were comfortable. And I cannot imagine a home with a better dinner view. By train or trail one easily can reach destinations in the Jungfrau region. I recommend the hike from Wengen to Wengeralp and Truemmelbach Falls (hikeable from Wengen).

This was a lovely condo in a breathtaking beautiful spot in the Alps.
We were not aware we had to park our car in a valley and take a train with our luggage to the location of the condo. We were not surprised by the ten minute walk from there. Just not aware we couldn’t drive to the spot of the ten minute walk. Once we figured that out we were ok. So just be prepared to take a train to and from Wengen whenever you wish to see other places.

One of the reasons we picked this Chalet was because it had a washer and dryer. The dryer wasn't working, which made things very difficult. The homeowner suggested we dried clothes on the radiator.
Which worked great for the thin items but jeans took 2 days. The rooms are pretty basic but very nice. The bed was comfortable, the view was great. The bathroom situation was weird. One toilet upstairs for 6 people made it hard. So the toilet downstairs was helpful. We did not know the Chalet was all down hill from the train station but that means uphill to the train station. We had a 75 yr old with us, so we had to get a taxi every time to the train station, which was $20 a pop. Money not expecting to spend. The kitchen and deck door locks wouldn't lock. My husband and son were up very late trying to figure something out to get them to lock. They finally did. The homeowners were helpful the next day.

Beautiful view great accommodations !
Great apartment with space for everyone. Kitchen was well equipped and bedrooms and baths accommodated our group of 6 very well. It is a bit of a downhill hike from the train station but worth the effort up and down the hill for the beautiful views from the veranda. I would recommend taking a taxi if you have much luggage or groceries upon arrival. We enjoyed having a fire in the fireplace and there was an extra large table for dinners and games. The dryer is not currently working in the apartment but there is a laundry room on the same floor we used as a backup. Wengen is a very nice little village and I'm glad we chose it over our other options. It's much more convenient for a variety of activities. The Coop in town has everything including a number of GF items and was open on Sunday! Would definitely recommend this accommodation.

The most stunning view and a beautiful apartment....
The apartment is really lovely, perfect for 5 adults and extremely comfortable.
Is is spacious, the kitchen has everything you need and the views are amazing!
The balcony is fabulous with a table to eat out and deckchairs to enjoy the sun!
The apartment is near the bottom of Wengen and so expect a steep walk into town but don’t let this put you off - it is worth it!

Great place to enjoy the amazing Alps
A fantastic home with everything you need. The home is fully stocked and extremely comfortable for our group of 9. The view from the deck is priceless. Highly recommend this place if you are looking to enjoy heaven on earth.

Great home with spectacular views
This getaway chalet lives up to the description and the pictures of the views are accurate (though they can't possible capture the actual majesty of the mountains, waterfalls, and valley)! The deck overlooks Lauterbrunnen Valley and you can also see Jungfrau on a clear day. The house is spacious and well-appointed. There were no issues comfortably accommodating our family of seven. The town of Wengen is charming and well-situated to access every part of the Berner Oberland. The Mannlichen cableway is right in town and takes you to several mountain trails that are good for all ages. The ride up to Jungfraujoch from Wengen is pretty quick so you can do it in half a day roundtrip. Driving through the valley and seeing the waterfalls (including the highest in Switzerland) was a real treat as well.
We would definitely stay here again and Suzanne was a pleasure to work with.
(Note: the walk up and down the hill is not for the faint-of-heart, but there are taxis in Wengen if you want to ride instead.)

Beautiful flat! Amazing view! We enjoyed the outside eating space overlooking Jungfrau!
Loved our time in Wengen and Sulegg Chalet was amazing! We grilled out both nights overlooking the mountains and the Lauterbrunnen Valley below. A bit of a hike to get to the chalet but worth every step! We enjoyed the decor and found the open floor plan a nice place for our family to be together in.
