About this house rental
Location, Location, Location! One minute or so (by auto) from exit 23 (exits 21 & 22 lead directly into Lake George village) from Hwy 87(Northway). The house is an excellent starting point for travel by auto to the recreational playground of Lake George (5 min), Saratoga Race Track & Casino (30 min), winter sports at Gore Mt (25 min), Americade Motorcycle Event (2 blocks), World's Largest Garage Sale (2 blocks), and unlimited hiking , biking, and all water sports. Additionally there are many great golf courses nearby, or you can launch a canoe, kayak, or yourself into the Schroon River from the lengthy waterfront yard, if fishing from the riverbank is not enough effort! Note: water is COLD and in summer usually slow moving, however there are rapids a ways left of the house Please see various reviews which describe the beautiful and calming views from the house's surrounding deck while enjoying a glass of wine or waking up to breakfast on the covered porch; the fire pit with tons of firewood for roasting hot dogs & marshmallows; the comfortable and cozy living room space while in the middle of the action; the more private, yet well furnished basement area (large screen tv, games, books, fireplace, full bath, laundry room, & access to outdoors, which besides the firepit has a picnic table and 2 Weber grills; and end your day sitting on the specially lighted deck enjoying over head fans, music, and peacefulness, while planning your next day's adventures.
Another feature often praised in reviews is the very well equipped kitchen. Don't expect the 4 plates, 4 glasses kind of place! As a premier host I tend to go overboard supplying information re: the house(labeled light switches & various written operating directions) plus brochures for things to do around the Lake George area & restaurant and menu info. The house is also left as if I'd be the one re-entering, e.g. cupboards contain all the staples (sugar(s), flour, s&p, spices, coffee filters, saran wrap, foil, zip locks, paper towels, T.P., garbage bags, dish & dishwasher detergents, etc. etc. I also leave partially used condiments in the refrigerator, for those who choose to use them. I only ask that if you finish up an item, (except for refrigerator condiments) please replace for future guests and ME!
I sincerely hope guests appreciate and enjoy being here as much as I do, and in turn take good care of my loved and well "lived in" home. Luckily there is renowned fine dining at Brunetto's (within walking distance of the house, for uphill walkers), and, of course, you can stroll into Warrensburg for a variety of family oriented restaurants or a late night McDonald's snack attack! Another nearby convenience is a 24 hour grocery store(for uphill walkers), as well as a different grocery in Warrensburg. Although Warrensburg is very close, our address (and taxes, ugh) is Lake George, NY
The river side and woods at front & back of the house feels like being in the wilderness, but village of Warrensburg is only a 2 block walk away. Pristine beauty, peace, and quiet, with all the conveniences of home.
Note: During December, 2023 and most of January, 2024, the VRBO ad was inadvertently inactive, thus the unusual number of summer weeks still available.
Please note there is a fully refundable property charge of $500 providing there is no damage or additional cleaning charges are levied when a guest fails to honor house rules. Examples of possible reasons for increased cleaning fees are: time required to wash/dry linens far exceeding what a family of 8, or less, are expected to use; cleaning up grassy areas of animal waste or massive amounts of accumulated dog hair inside; bags of trash requiring a trip to the dump; or tackiness of some who throw garbage and/or cigarette butts on the ground around the yard and fire pit! Of course smoking inside the house would necessitate specialized cleaning, luckily I haven't experienced that so I'm unable to estimate a cost. Sorry to sound so negative but bad experiences with 2 groups who were not as they described themselves, made for some tense times trying to rectify issues from 1600 miles away. Prior and since the 2 problematic groups, I have never had a time when it was necessary to withhold deposit $, nor do I feel the need to currently charge a pet deposit fee, as all but a very few have been very respectful.
There is now a $99.80 rental tax which is required by Lake George of Warren County, New York. It is an Occupancy Tax of 4% of the weekly rental rate, levied on private home rentals and hotels. This $99.80 fee is shown under Custom/Property fees and is based on the $2310 weekly rate plus cleaning fee.
Discounts for repeat visitors!: As a relative 'newbie' at sharing my home, I have been extremely pleased and grateful to the families I have gotten to know (via email) through the before, during, and after rental process. As a result, I welcome them to re-visit at a discount!
I also will gladly accept their recommendations for any family or friends wanting to stay at my house, as they have proven themselves to be reliable, considerate, and extremely kind in their remarks and reactions.
Once we receive each others emails and/or phone #'s, feel free to call with any questions. Although I will provide lots of house & information about the area before you arrive, if you have specific needs I'll definitely try to locate that information for you.
In summary, the house is designed with families in mind. Multi-generational family groups are especially fun to host & house is NOT designed, nor intended, as a party house!!
Hard fast rules are: no cats; no smoking inside house due to all the interior wood; change over day is Saturday; trash & recycle large containers must be placed near the road on Sunday evening; more than 1 dog can be considered depending on age, breed, weight, etc.
The freebies include: free fire wood for the firepit; no fee to launch kayaks, canoes, etc from the river bank; and fish for hours @ no charge! We've not tried this, but plenty of wooded property could probably provide you free bait too! And based upon many reviews, the best freebie is the covered deck area for its peacefulness & calming views of natural beauty.

We had a great time at this location. We were able to swim and fish anytime in the river (at it's deepest in the middle the neighbor told us it is probably 20-25 feet deep). Plenty of firewood for fires at night. The porch was great and kept us plenty dry during a few storms. Inside was as described and very cozy with instructions for pretty much anything we needed. Location is great as we were close to almost anything we wanted to do. We went axe throwing, to skyzone, Six Flags, escape lg, outlet shopping, a lunch boat trip on lake George, mini golf, an animal sanctuary, Gore mtn mineral mining, and much more all within a twenty minute or shorter drive. You definitely won't run out of things to do if activities are your thing. It was a great week away with the family. We could fill another week with activities and relaxation if we had the time. Owner was very helpful with emails and texts as needed or just giving information ahead of time. I would have no hesitation staying again in the future.

Loved our stay at this house! We were new to the area and Rose gave us so much information on where to go and also where to eat. Loved the lake atmosphere. Would definitely come back & rent this house. Thanks again Rose for making this trip a great one! Denise & family

We stayed one night. I thought I would be able to walk my dog because the listing described restaurants in walking distance. The owner has since changed the listing.
I was not able to walk my dog. The description on line was misleading. It said there were restaurants in walking distance. The road is a two lane highway with no shoulder. It would have been too dangerous to walk on this road.
Through no fault of the owner, there was a garbage can overflowing with bottles and cans on the front porch, in addition to the full size recycle bin and trash bin. The trash is picked up on Monday. The bin was so heavy it took both of us to drag it up the hill. So basically we paid a few thousand to take someone’s garbage out. The check in was for 4pm. We arrived at 5 and the cleaners were still there.

We had a fantastic time ! The home we stayed in was really great! Rose is a very organized host! The house is comfortable and accessible and very close to the beach and town! Thank you so much for Everything!

We had a wonderful time staying at Rose's house. The house and property were exactly as described and perfectly clean. The location was accessible to all of the Lake George area activities our family enjoyed. Our 4 year old especially delighted in finding ripe black raspberries each day of our stay. Rose was especially accommodating of our special needs and requests and I'm very grateful for her generous hospitality.

this was a wonderful property, the house is very well stocked and in excellent condition. Even though we had a lot of rain the covered back porch was wonderful we sat there through the storms as long as it wasnt thundering and it was so relaxing. We fished right off the bank and caught lots of fish. Only drawback is you can only get one fisher down there at a time because the space is steep and narrow. The river was high though so i am not sure if it usually has more bank or not. i would definately recomend this for a family but be careful with littles as there are steep stairs in the house.

The house was beautiful and contained everything we needed for my husband and I, along with our 3 adult sons. Location was just minutes from beautiful Lake George and other attractions. Owner Rose was great with communication and checked in with us after we arrived to be sure we had everything and readily responded to questions. Highly recommend this home.

Three generation family vacation. This spacious beautiful house was perfect for us. Plenty of “family areas” for together time, but enough separation to do your own thing. I loved sitting by the fire pit or on the covered deck late at night. My ‘boys’ including 11yr old grandson, loved early morning fishing right on the property. Great location! 10-20mins to most popular Lake George activities. Rose is a very thoughtful host. She provided everything you need to know: instructions, manuals, brochures. Everything you might need for a vacation: books, games, beach towels, coolers. Also, anything you might have forgotten: 1st aid kit, sunscreen, and spices…oh my! Thank you Rose for opening your home up for others to enjoy!

Great to be by the river so that my son and I could fish easily. A great getaway!

We were looking for a quiet family getaway and that is what we found by staying in this home by the river. We enjoyed meals and reading time on the open air deck, overlooking the river. We put our kayaks and paddle boards in the river each day and paddled upstream for hours enjoying the sunshine and time together.
The house has all the pots, pans & cooking utensils that you might need to prepare dinners at home. The charcoal grill and nice fire pit are great assets to the outdoor space.
The location was perfect for us. The house is minutes from a full size grocery store and yet tucked away from the business of Lake George. You are close enough to Lake George that you can drive into town to rent a boat or take a ride on one of the steamships or walk on the board walk, eat lunch by the lake etc.
We certainly enjoyed our visit to this house on the Schroon river.

This place was amazing!
This was a perfect location for enjoying the lake George area! Beautiful home, comfy beds, well stocked kitchen, plenty of room to spread out, and a great porch for a coffee and wine. Rose was a perfect host! Great dining options within five minutes of the house! We will certainly be back!

All the Comforts of Home
My wife and I have been traveling to the Adirondacks together for over 30 years. We continue to come here because we like to get away from heavy traffic and large crowds but most of all, to get back to nature. We are accustomed to sacrificing creature comforts as a part of the journey to the Adirondack region. However, this house does not fit the mold of a “house in the woods”. It is a home with all the amenities one would expect in a regular home like air-conditioning, high speed internet, cable TV, dishwasher, and washer and dryer (It was very hot the week we were there with temps close to 90F and dew points in the mid 70s, so the AC was greatly appreciated). The kitchen is well stocked with ingredients that may be needed for cooking. The house is in excellent condition, built some twenty years ago, much of the finish work by the owners. The magic spot in the house is the upper rear covered deck that overlooks the Schroon River and surrounding woods. We enjoyed many meals on the glass table while enjoying the view of the river lazily rolling by. The owners are very responsive! Rose was right there to answer any questions and help in any way she could to make our stay enjoyable. The location in Warrensburg is excellent as you are a short drive to Lake George for entertainment or mountain trailheads. It is the best of both worlds, and we will be staying there again!

We agree with the past reviews about this place - it is well appointed with all the needed amenities and then some. Rose really has outdone herself in making sure every possible need is met and the house is full stocked with supplies galore. And while it is an older house, it is very well maintained and very clean and that is a huge plus. The location is definitely quiet and while you are close to everything, you feel much further away. Wi-Fi and communications were superb and while we didn't use the basement much, can see why so many raved about it. The outside covered deck is great and I think if we'd had less hot/humid days we'd have been out there more. The river access seems nice , but was way too buggy for us to properly enjoy, and the swimming area seemed a bit dirty. Overall, I'd definitely recommend staying in Rose's place - it is large, clean, full of amenities & convenient to everything. With a few tweaks it would be even better:
- Checking covered porch lights before new guests stay. The outside space lights were almost all out. They are battery powered and batteries are left but you have to stand on a ladder to change them and doing that for 8-10 lamps is a lot to ask of new guests.
- The master bedroom is small and bc of larger furniture it really is a tight space. We also sleep at home in a queen and the bed was clearly a double not a queen. Not a big deal, and we don't care much as we only use a bedroom for sleeping, but should be noted. Rose may be better served moving a queen into one of the upstairs bedrooms.
- This has been a particularly hard summer - lots of rain and hot and sticky and so mosquitos have been rampant in general - but because there are so many plants in the front where you enter, the house, it might be good to do extra spraying for mosquitoes. We were attacked each time we entered the house.
- Making sure guests clean up the charcoal grills. My husband had to spend about 30 minutes cleaning off the particularly nasty grill top before we could use the grill on our 2nd night. He said that clearly the past occupants had cooked something like BBQ chicken and never did a post cook clean - nor did they empty their old charcoal. This is not Rose's fault, but it might be good to have someone checking this out between stays to avoid the new occupants having to clean up after others.
- In general, just having someone do the above checks, in addition to having cleaners between stays would help a ton.

The house has everything you need to be comfortable. Conveniently located and not too far from Lake George, Bolton Landing, or Queensbury. Very clean and cozy with great views of the river. Also, put Oscar's Smokehouse on your list of shops. They have fantastic cuts of meat and slab bacon!

This is a beautiful home in a lovely setting. The deck overlooks the river and on one side its is covered, which was very welcome as we had a bit of rain and were still able to enjoy the outdoors. Inside was great. Comfortable furniture and one of the most well equipped kitchens I've ever seen in a rental. It lacks for nothing. The house is also very clean. Rose provided a lot of information about the area before we even arrived and then provided additional pamphlets with more information in the house. Rose and Phil were very responsive and helpful. It is very close to Lake George for those looking for attractions and things to do. We had a very enjoyable week and can hopefully return again sometime. I would certainly recommend this home to anyone. I have stayed in a number of rentals now and this home is one of the very best. Thank you to Rose and Phil for providing the setting for a most enjoyable week.

This house was perfect for our stay. There were 8 people including 3 children. The children loves being in the basement with the big tv, lots of room for dancing and a comfy couch. The adults loved the deck. Kitchen had everything needed to cook, including a waffle maker which made the kids happy. Rose was always available via text, email or phone to answer any question we had from the moment we booked. Great house, great owners!

Lovely setting
The house was beautiful and very comfortable. The deck was amazing! The only disappointment was access to the river. We were hoping to be able to kayak from the property but were unable to do so. One access area was toO rocky and the other access area had a large tree blocking the river. We had a wonderful time otherwise!

My family enjoyed staying at this house. We especially liked the porch and had our meals outside everyday. We watched the hummingbirds drink nectar that was provided for them by the owners. It was nice overlooking the river and the surrounding trees. The location was great. Very close to Lake George Village and the other towns. The house had a full kitchen supply of anything you may need which was especially nice. We also enjoyed the fire pit and toasted marshmallows and the kids loved making smores. Overall, I would recommend staying at this home.

This property was so nice and peaceful! The location was great not too far from anything. The house had everything we needed. The only things I would make sure others know is they only have a charcoal grill and there is not a lot of water access. We were hoping for a place to sit next to the water, but it was great for fishing.

Just perfect!
This place was just perfect!
The location on the river was wonderful and great to wake up and sit on the covered deck and enjoy coffee and the serene atmosphere.
The rooms were great, the finished basement is perfect for a moody teenager to have their own space and it was close enough to Lake George Village so we could easily take a less than 10 min drive to hang out down there. Also just far enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle.
Rose was a great resource for local eateries and quick to respond to any questions.
Also LOVED not having to pack linens and towels!
That deck though...its amazing.

Perfect Location
My family of 4 and 1 dog had a great vacation at Rose's home. It was perfectly located to get to Lake George, Six Flags, Saratoga and to Ticonderoga. The house was very spacious. The kids each had their own bedroom and bathroom. The kids didnt like how creaky the shower floor was they said they thought they were going to go through the floor. We liked the bathroom on the 1st floor and my daughter did like the shower in the basement. Rose had everything labeled which was great, no guessing which switch went to what. It had a great view, enjoyed the cover porch to eat at. We had a minor problem getting the living room TV on, but Roses husband was quick to call us and help get it working. Liked having a finished downstairs where my son was able to play his video games, that is also where we kept our dog when we went out. Rose was easy to work with. It had plenty of towels and kitchen stuff to cook with. Kids really liked the ice and water dispenser on the fridge. Would have given a 5 starts if the access to the river was better, I didn't have to empty the dishwasher when I got there and if the place was just a little cleaner. Overall it was a great place and would rent again if we decide to go back to the Lake George area.

Perfect Home for Exploring the Adirondacks
Our three generations group of 6 thoroughly enjoyed this home. Plenty of space and equipped with everything you need to have a fabulous week. Loved the covered porch with a fantastic view of the trees and river. It was a great hub as we explored so many areas - Lake George, Saratoga Springs, Lake Placid, Ticonderoga and so much more! Rose is a fantastic communicator and responds quickly with any information you need. Thanks Rose for a wonderful stay.

Truly a home away from home
The home owner was very welcoming and provided lots of area information prior to our arrival date. The home was incredibly comfortable and had everything we needed. We loved sitting on the deck overlooking the river in the mornings and evenings. There was some road noise from main street but that didn't bother us. The TV and stereo system was incredible - really made a difference with the movies that we watched at night.
The home's location was just perfect for us. We went to Lake George Village or Bolton Landing almost everyday. And, of course, we also went to our favorite ice cream store in Glens Falls...almost daily (Frozen Dreams) . Our dogs loved the front yard, they chased a ton of balls and were safely away from the road. One more thing about the folks that own and work at the house - They found my wallet that had I left at the house and mailed it to me immediately . It had every thing in it....so honest and thoughtful!

Beautiful spot on the river.
My family and I had an amazing vacation. Rose does a fantastic job of making the house feel like a home. The house was very clean and well stocked with everything you could need. It is a spectacular setting in the woods. Drinking coffee and eating breakfast on the deck looking at the river was a daily favorite. The thing that kept me from 5 stars was no air conditioning. But on the whole summer is not ideal time to visit in my opinion. I’ve been in the mountains all my life and thought we could deal but I didn’t realize how accustom to AC we have become. Also I would have liked a little better river access other than that the place had everything. I would definitely stay again in fall or winter.

Amazing Location
My family and I absolutely loved this home. Rose is a fantastic host and does a fantastic job of getting back to you and answering all questions you may have. She literally has her home stocked with every item you may need, from towels and linens, to blenders and pans; you will not need to bring much with you. She has everything labeled, and leaves alot of information about local establishments and places to visit. Our favorite part of Rose's home was the spectacular covered deck. I spent a majority of my time at the home on this covered deck. We enjoyed dinner on the patio table, and enjoyed the beautiful view of the river directly aside of the house. The location is great too because you are walking distance to stores and restaurants, but also the peace and tranquility of the woods. Also for those of you first timers to the area, Warrensburg is in the middle of Bolton's Landing and Lake George. (about 10-15 drive to each) I would definitely recommend visiting both of those two towns. As I mentioned earlier, I would definitely recommend this home to anyone.

Great House!
Rented house for the week of 7/30/16 to 8/6/16. Six adults and two dogs. Couldn't have asked for a better place. Located just 5 miles outside of Lake George Village we were close to all the action but in a quiet setting. Super market was just down the road as well as gas stations and many shops close by. The house was exactly as advertised. Wrap around deck with dining table was our favorite place for meals. Would book again for our next trip to Lake George. Owner Rose and sister Faye were as helpful and accommodating as possible. Great Rental

A fantastic, relaxing vacation!
We had a wonderful week in your home. Thank you! There were 8 of us in total (all adults) and we all fit comfortably. We did quite a lot of exploring - Fort Ticonderoga, Lake Placid (we did the bobsled experience), tubing down the Hudson River! Lake George is absolutely beautiful and we spent several night in those arcades. Despite these trips, our favorite moments were spent in the house - dinners on the deck, movies in the living room, making crossword puzzles and fishing in the river (we caught a big one)! All in all, it was a fantastic, relaxing vacation!

p.s. Food we liked - George Henry's and Martha's Ice Cream. Next time we'll try Brunetto's!

Comfortable and Welcoming Home
We stayed here for a week at the end of July; there were five of us in total: our two sons (age 20 and age 17), our older son's girlfriend (age 19), my husband and me. The house was perfect for our group!
I usually sat on the deck in the morning with coffee and my book and then again in the later afternoon with my adult beverage(s) and my book. We usually went out for dinner, but when we stayed in, we sat on the deck to eat. It was spacious, comfortable, and had a nice view of the Schroon River. One night, there was a big thunderstorm and we could sit on the deck and watch since the deck is covered.
It was very nice to have the finished basement with a TV and bathroom. The boys set their XBox up down there and when we weren't doing something together as a family, they could go downstairs and play games. Very nice!
It was great to have WiFi and cable TV. The livingroom furniture was comfortable and there was enough seating if we all wanted to watch TV together. The kitchen had everything we needed.
The location was very nice. It was a short drive to Lake George Village which has some nice shops for souvenir and Christmas shopping. We also went to Saratoga one day.
I went to a beach in Bolton Landing (Veteran's Memorial, I think is what it was called) which was very nice -- not crowded at all, and only $5 for parking. I also went to the beach one day in Lake George Village (Million Dollar Beach), but it was very crowded. I much preferred Bolton Landing.
Making the reservation was very easy and Rose returned our deposit promptly after we checked out. Both Rose and her sister-in-law, Chris, are very nice, flexible, and they are both happy to answer any questions and provide recommendatins on things to do, where to eat, etc.
We were very with our summer vacation this year and would recommend this house to others.
