An enchanted "treehouse", beautifully appointed atop a 1920s abode with a deck and sunset view.

My teenage daughter and I loved the secret treehouse style of Koko's. The apartment is at the top of a 1920s house and has a big deck where cockatoos land in the morning, demanding breakfast! (Seeds are provided, but do not leave them unattended, because these cockies know how to get the lid off.) The country-style kitchen had everything we needed to cook for ourselves (induction cooktop, oven, fridge, kettle, pans), and we had a serene evening basking on beanbags and admiring the sunset from the living room. Nice, airy bedroom with a vintage wardrobe. Koko's is equidistant from Olinda and Mount Dandenong villages, meaning an easy trip to Mountain Wholefoods (gelato!) and the gardens and lookouts we wanted to see. We definitely want to come back for a longer stay -- maybe with friends, as there is a second bedroom available with twin beds. A hearty 10 out of 10, and a big thank you to our host, Kyoko.

This is a tip to Booking.com -- please specify that Koko's has guest parking on a layby off Mount Dandenong Road. There is no driveway. We got muddled, but Kyoko was very attentive and came out to wave us in.

Lovely location and great host

The place had a beautiful view around the Dandenongs - no shortage of trees. The host was also incredible -- very thoughtful, put heater on so it was cost when i arrived, wonderful breakfast and great communication.

While the venue had lots of space and chairs, I didn't tell there was anywhere very cosy to sit. Perhaps a sofa?

Kyoko was an exceptional host with excellent, responsive and clear communication. She provided lots of little touches in the house to make the stay special. Full breakfast was also provided.

Exceptional

Beautiful house, really liked seeing the birds eat the bird feed. Great collection of old books as well, enjoyed flicking through them and finding out the history on the area. Hosts had also turned on the heaters so the house was nice and warm inside when we arrived.

We were very comfortable and had a lovely stay

Breakfast was a surprise. Plenty of fresh supplies for us to enjoy. The location was good. Lots to see from one end of the Dandenongs to the other.

Everything was great but the bed was squeaky. The shower would be a little difficult for a larger person. Quite a few steps down to the property could be a problem for some guests.

Relaxing getaway with lots of character

Quaint, very clean and well equipped cottage. Confortable bed and lovely selection of fruits and breakfast foods provided on arrival.

On a main road and a bit challenging to walk down steep steps with luggage.

Iocation, breakfast provisions, coffee machine, bed and spacious cottage.

Heating a little bit of a let down. Electric wall heaters were not on upon our arrival and being this time of the year.....the cottage was very cold. Even once we turned on..... the heat was very minimal. However the second day was alot better because we left heating on all night. But in saying this......it did not spoil our stay.

Cosy, quirky, tranquil and super clean place to unwind..

Great hospitality and location.

Maybe, scented candle or diffuser in the bedroom would help with the dampened smell.

Exceeded all expectations. Perfect getaway and price. Could not fault the place. It was flawless

Location was amazing. Super clean. Amazing wildlife. We saw lots of different birds and even a deer! Lovely breakfast selection the next morning. Will definitely be booking again and taking the kids next time. Sensational

Quirky , but tranquil setting, had everything we needed & more. Lovely little village.

An abundance of fresh breakfast choices. Personal touches, eg fresh flowers, fruit, chocolates & a lovely welcome note. Spacious inside, comfortable beds. Lots of info on what to do in the area. Easy access, all directions to property wel explained

The parking was a little tricky on a narrow street, which would be difficult for the hosts as well.

Very enjoyable

Breakfast was wonderful. Rooms very unusual and different. Loved that.

Could use blinds on windows to keep light out in mornings if sleeping late, also blinds would keep heat out. Every time taps and toilet were used, dreadful groaning sound came afterwards. Sounded almost a human groan, a little freaky if someone used toilet and bathroom through the night!

Beautiful, comfortable house

Everything. The house is beautifully surrounded by trees, uniquely decorated, very clean. We could spot many beautiful birds in the terrace. There are plenty of kitchen tools. The bed is super comfortable. Kyoko is an amazing host. She took care of us and made us feel at home.

Fasincating, fun, relaxing, beautiful

Koko Guesthouse is fascinating, being a renovated older cottage full of upcycled furnishings and plenty of Japanese touches. It's like a little slice of heaven. It's only five minutes work to the Olinda shops, all f which are works of art in fascination in their own right. My friend and I loved it and Kyoko is a wonderful host.
