About this house rental
Hickman House is a lovely family home with many remaining Victorian features, while also having the comforts of modern living.
It's located within easy walking distance of the "nuns beach", which looks out on the heads and to the rip. Behind the house a short stroll will take you to Swan Bay and the bike path, and a childrens' playground is in the school directly behind the house. Another short stroll will take you to the main shopping area or the lookout for a coffee.
The rear of the house has a combined kitchen and large living/dining area, adjoining an outside entertaining area. The outdoor area has a square table with seating for 12, and the area provides a large BBQ and a wood fired pizza oven - 1st night's wood is supplied.
The original part of the house has a separate formal dining room, opposite a lush internal courtyard.
There are 4 bedrooms, 3 with queen beds, and one with a double bed. There is a single folding bed in the main bedroom wardrobe, which can be set up in the dining room
A modern laundry leads to separate bathrooms, one with shower only and one with a bath with overhead shower.
Reverse cycle cooling/heating helps to deal with hot or cold days, and the living area is ideally sited to make use of the winter sun, while keeping it out in summer. The front of the house has central heating for winter, cooling is not a problem with solid brick internal walls and 12 ft ceilings.
The sheltered back yard boasts a dry stone wall that provides a useful place to sit with your wineglass or cup of tea!
We have bicycles, paddle board, kayak, buckets and spades, beach trolley, boogie boards and even wetsuits, to allow your whole family to enjoy a great holiday.

Hickman House was a perfect venue for a weekend getaway with old friends. The home and garden is full of charm and character. It was also very comfortable for lounging around, chatting and catching up. It is really well stocked with everything you need. It felt like a home away from home. Being so close to the township we were able to walk everywhere, including out for lunches and dinner. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back.

Where to start about the most amazing weekend in Queenscliffe at Hickman House. What a beautiful house to find on arrival and the surprises just kept coming. The house is appointed with every imaginable item, and more than any guest could desire. We even found birthday hats and candles for one of our guests celebrating a birthday. The pizza oven was certainly a highlight. What a wonderful time we had, and we certainly cannot wait to return. Thank you to the amazing hosts.

The property is so wonderful, with anple kitchen and living space for a couple and 2 small dogs. The garden spaces are beautiful and immaculate and the house has everything you need, even a pizza oven should you wish! Its located oppodote the general store which makes delicious coffees and treats that we took advantage of after a walk on the beach.

A perfect blend of old and new located in a great spot just a 10 minute stroll into town.
The beds were comfy and the kitchen well stocked with pantry items. This property has everything you would need for a week or two away and the Hosts were easy to communicate with too.

This old house exudes charm and character. It is spacious, comfortable and well equipped with appliances and utensils. The beds are comfortable and the outdoor area would be lovely in Summer. It would be a great place for 4 couples to enjoy a break or 2 families.
I was travelling with very elderly parents so the stairs ( inside and out) were a disadvantage plus the walk to the bathroom. Also the driveway was very tight. Otherwise it was fantastic and I would highly recommend.

We had not stayed in Queencliff before and thought an historic home would suit the bill. We enjoyed the character of the house and contents, the large rooms and back garden. It was in a good location and had everything we needed. Street parking for two cars was helpful.

Loved staying at this property
Great property to stay in. Loads of space and spacious living area/ kitchen which was well equipped. Lovely to have the outdoor area- tried out the pizza oven- excellente! We only used 2 bedrooms but the beds were very comfortable- we always take our own pillows. Although on the main road its not a problem and we liked that we were so close to the beach which was really good for our dogs and really hardly any traffic. Owners were very helpful and we'd be very keen to stay there again

Beautiful home in a fantastic location
Hickman House is a beautiful, comfortable house to have recharge your batteries. A very short walk to the beach, and a dog-friendly, off-lead beach is only a few hundred meters further.
Cooking pizzas in the wood fired oven is a great way to spend the evening.

History all around you.
Lovely old home, full of interesting things to investigate. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Two suggestions, 1) Simplify instructions for bedroom heating. 2) Dining room beautiful, yet we would of preferred a quiet snug to get away from family noise. Thanking you for sharing your historic house.

We loved our stay at Hickman House. We had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. So close to all that Queenscliff has to offer. Michael (owner) was very considerate and called us to advise about an unplanned power outage during our stay. Would definitely recommend.

Queenscliff vacation
Lovely example of a Victorian home, furnished with Victorian furniture. The living area is a later extension onto the rear of the Victorian home and is furnished and decked with appliance to assist in making ones stay enjoyable. Queenscliff and neighbouring "villages" are a joy to see and offer sightseeing and shopping facilities.

My elderly parents and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hickman house whilst visiting Queenscliff.
Hickman House is a beautiful and well presented property offering old world charm combined with modern conveniences. It was also packed with extras including a comprehensive range of herbs and spices in the kitchen, other food stuffs in the pantry, magazines, DVDs and books. There are a couple of stairs at the front door but if these are an issue, access without stairs was possible via the garage. There is a great cafe over the road. One thing i really loved was the wood fired pizza oven which was easy to use and made great pizzas. They cooked in just a couple of minues. If however you fail at this, there is a wood fired pizza restaurant just over the road. In short a wonderful and convenient place to stay.

Great location and well-equipped
Perfect for our four guests as each could have their own bedroom. Having 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets was a great bonus. Lovely, quiet and private outdoor area. So close to town so it was great being able to walk there and to the beach. Great communication with owner. This is our second stay and we will definitely be back.

Lovely period house with all the mod cons.
We stayed at Hickman House for our annual reunion with 2 other couples from interstate. The accommodation had everything we needed & more. The pizza oven was amazing & cooked the pizzas to perfection. We ended up eating in each night. Easy walk to town & the beach. I would recommend Hickman House to other adult couples and families.
