About this house rental
Plymouth is a winter wonderland during the holidays! Come for the Holiday Spirit & stay for the cozy pubs!
Downtown Plymouth is a super safe area, and we are located in the heart of it. We are less than a block from many beaches, restaurants, nightlife and historical tours.
Check out our walk-through video on You Tube. Type WhaleTailInt 2019 in the search for a virtual tour of the entire house.
Hop on the "T" and day trip to Boston, or head to Cape Cod for beaches galore and souvenir shopping!
We are less than a block from a plethora of restaurants, family-friendly activities, nightlife and historical touring. Hop on the commuter rail and day trip to Boston for great museums and culture, or head to the Cape for beaches galore and souvenir shopping. Enjoy beaches right up the street, and experience a true New England winter on the waterfront!
You’ll love the plush carpeted bedrooms and the comfortable accommodations the Whale Tail offers. My place is great for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), and big groups. We've thought of everything!
The Whale Tail is the perfect spot to experience 'America's Hometown' - right at your front door. With a wide variety of excellent local cuisine and shops just steps away, you will have plenty to do and see. Visit historical museums, Plymouth Rock shops and local attractions. Plymouth beach is the biggest beach close-by (about 2 miles up RT 3A) and offers paid public parking and a beach side seasonal restaurant - 'Sandys'. Enjoy all kinds of seafood, burgers, fries and the full bar while you watch the waves and enjoy the salty spray. Never a dull moment! This is what they mean when they say LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!
Three upstairs bedrooms accommodate eight comfortably, so bring your family and friends. With a queen bed in two of the cozy bedrooms and four convertible twins in the third (two 'convert' to king size with trundles), and a pull out queen couch on the ground floor if the bff's want to come too!
We have also just finished a new small basement level unit that will occasionally be owner-only occupied. It is accessed by a separate entrance off the front of the house and is a completely separate space from the house.
Central heat and AC keeps the Whale Tail at just the right temperature. The kitchen is a great place to cook and entertain. Fully stocked, you won't need a thing! The kitchen opens onto the deck and grilling is a must year-round. The gas grill is set up year round, and the retractable awning on the porch is great for spending some time in the shade (or if it rains!). The ample dining room seats eight around a beautiful cherry dining set for a more formal gathering, complete with giraffes.
All that Plymouth has to offer is just steps from your door. Something is always happening year round for kids and adults - day and night - any season... but a quiet and safe enough street for some serious chilling if that is what you are after.
This house is a great central location for day trips too. Boston is less than an hour drive, or "Take the 'T' in" from the local Plymouth train station. Cape Cod is a short hop down Rt. 3 - packed with beaches, bike trails and plenty more to see. At the end of the street, there is also a seasonal ferry that will take you right to the docks and beaches at Provincetown. A must see for anyone who hasn't been!

Family of 4 enjoyed our stay here over Thanksgiving. The location is great- lots of things to walk to. Great communication with host and the house had everything we needed and more. Very cozy and would stay again.

Our family had a short stay at this home during our east coast vacation. We absolutely loved this property - it was everything we needed. Well stocked, clean, and cozy. And the location is amazing - we walked everywhere. Highly recommend staying in this gem!

We were in Plymouth Christmas week. It was a very cold and windy week. The upstairs back bedroom (twin beds) did not have heat. It was very cold in there. Our adult children (20,25) ended up sleeping in jackets and hats.
Other than that, the house was just what we needed and expected. Close to everything and very clean.

Perfect location to take in the waterfront or Main St., can walk everywhere. House was very clean and well appointed, heater worked great! We've started coming to Plymouth for Thanksgiving the last few years and would definitely stay here again.

Our family of 4 (Mom, Dad and 2 adult kids) had an amazing stay! We could not have picked a more perfect location! We walked to everything and only moved our car one time all week. There is so much to do in Plymouth! The house was probably the most well stocked house we have ever rented. We loved everything about our stay!

Family Wedding in Plymouth
Everything was amazing! We we're in town for my son's wedding and this was our first time visiting Plymouth. The house was perfect for our group of 8 and the location couldn't have been better. The city and our neighbor Tony made us feel so welcome. We look forward to our next time.

Great location!
The house was immaculately clean and well-equipped. It's in a great location - one block from downtown and great restaurants in one direction and a few blocks more down to the harbor in the other direction. Our only complaint was the mattress in the front facing bedroom was uncomfortable. Otherwise a great place to enjoy beautiful Plymouth!

Girls Winter Getaway
The whole process was very easy to navigate. Property is just as described and all amenities were in good working order and ample, lots and f towels, blankets, and pillows. The only thing that could make it better is an 11:00 or 12:00 pm checkout!

Great location!
My kids, grandkids and I had a wonderful week at The Whaletail. The location was excellent with so many things to do within walking distance. The house was very comfy and had plenty of room. Parking for one car only was the biggest challenge but we worked around it with alternative parking nearby. Would love to stay there again sometime!

Charming cottage in Plymouth!
We loved staying at this property! We were in town for a wedding and this cottage was perfect for our family as an alternative to hotels. The location was so perfect, centrally located to the water and main street. We were so impressed with all of the extra amenities in the home, from beach towels to umbrellas to bicycles. We hope to come back and enjoy more of what Plymouth has to offer. We highly recommend the Whale's Tail!

So enjoyable!
This was a great location, home very welcoming, well-set up. Loved the convenience of being in down-town. Entry convenient, hosts communicated well throughout the process. The parking was the only thing that took some work, but it was a great gathering place for our family

Great house and great location
The Whale Tail easily fit our family of five with plenty of room to spare during our September visit for a wedding. The living room and dining room where very comfortable and roomy. The kitchen was small but well stocked with all the essentials and more as was the entire house - we wish we had time to use the bikes. The washer and dryer and sullies were a great plus and got lots of use. The bedrooms were good as long as you watched your head as the roof line often limited space. Some didn’t like the firmness or softness of the beds but that is mainly personal taste. There were lots of pillows and soft blankets for all. It is in an ideal location for either the water front or Main Street with lots of restaurants and bars as we often walked around town. The one low mark on the house is the tight driveway (good luck backing out in a big vehicle!) and limited parking. Bob was very accommodating, easy to work with and had prompt replies.
Enjoy this little gem!

Fantastic location and comfortable house.
The house had everything we needed. Very clean. The only issue we had was there is only parking for one car. My husband and I each had a car and my cousin came from Mississippi. So two cars had to search for parking spots. Otherwise, it was great. The location couldn't be better.

Best 4th of July Ever!!
Our family of seven adults stayed at the Whale Tail during 4th of July week. The house was very clean, well stocked, and comfortable for all of us. The location is excellent - walking distance to many historical sites, restaurants, ice cream shops, bars, stores, coffee shops, and much more. Plymouth really knows how to celebrate the 4th and if you stay at the Whale Tail you can walk to the parade, concert, and fireworks festivities, no need to move the car. We also recommend the ferry ride to Boston, the sunset cruise, and a concert by the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra. There is one parking space at the Whale Tail. Finding overnight parking for our additional cars was challenging. We definitely recommend this house. So glad we came to Plymouth MA!

Wonderful House!
We traveled to Plymouth, MA for our friends wedding and decided to rent a VRBO for the weekend that could accommodate our group of friends (instead of renting multiple hotel rooms for hundreds of dollars a night). The house was adorable and was able to easily fit all 8 of us. One thing that I really appreciated was the amount of amenities in the house. The bathroom was fully stocked with shampoos, lotions, razors, hair dryer, q-tips, etc which is so appreciative - especially with a large group. On one of the cooler rainy days, we all spent time in the cozy living room watching Netflix. The house is in a great location super close to a variety of different tasty restaurants, bars and cute shops. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Whale Tail to any group (small or large) staying in Plymouth!

did he know we were coming?
First impression...welcome mat in a jumble on the front stoop. no big deal alone.
Stove top grease spattered. Disgusting!
Slimy toilet bowl top floor. Gross!
Deck furniture in a heap. A job to do...on vacation, paying lots to be there.
No bicycles (4) as advertised ...Bob emailed me to "go to the tourist information to find some", and "I don't remember offering bicycles".
Awning on sunny deck not functioning... just another thing.
Barbecue grill not hooked up. (he did come by and hook it up) we didn't use it... no wonder why.
Grease spattered table by the grill, our niece rested her arm on it and got grease on her suede shirt. Should I forward a cleaning charge?
I have asked for a 'cleaning charge' refund with no response from 'Bob'. I think we deserve more ... or at least a response.
Honestly, did anyone know we were coming?
On a brighter note, if they, or he can fix these numerous problems, the location was very nice, and the neighbors were very nice.
I would be happy to share pictures.

Perfect Gathering Place!
This cute home was perfect for our stay in March 2018! The weather didn't cooperate so well, but we had a warm safe place to gather and wait out the storm so we could go see the sights! The Real Estate secret is: "Location, Location, Location" and this home certainly has that!
In addition it has a nice dining area we could all gather for meals, as well as school table for our online college students to do their work, and for all to handle the computer work we needed to do.
The living room was great for movie time together in the evening!
We caught up on laundry and slept in while the winter storm outside did it's business.
Don't miss the Founding Father's Monument within a couple of miles of this cute abode! It's a hidden treasure of historical importance and reminders of timeless truths needed today!
Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Amazing!!
We had an excellent stay. The owner is a class act. Kathy provided us with a brochure of the area which included sites, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, beaches shopping etc. The Whale Tail is in a great location to walk to Plymouth Rock and all the historical landmarks that Plymouth has to offer. Our family looks forward to our next stay in Plymouth. You will too!

We loved it!
The Whale Tail was a perfect place for our Summer vacation. Bob was so accommodating (even with our strange request of a bundt pan....haha). Besides most of our family being over 6 ft tall (a few head bumps on the top floor), it suited us perfectly. Thank you so much. We just love Plymouth so much. We will surely rent again in the future if possible. Take care, and thank you again!!
All the best,
Suzanne Gottschalk and Family
