Walk the tree lined sidewalk 600 ft to the Lake Michigan shore and play on the sand beach. Lake Michigan water level fluctuates every year. Visit Empire Michigan webcam for current lake conditions. There is extensive playground equipment at the beach. The Village of Empire which is seven miles south of Glen Arbor is home to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park Visitor Center. The Sleeping Bear Heritage Bike Trail winds through the woods and is paved from Empire to the 'Dune Climb' and continues into Glen Arbor. The trail has been extended north along M-22 to Bohemian Road.
From the rear bedroom window of Park Place Guest House view deer feeding in the nature preserve.
Within walking distance of one block to the east are the Post Office, Bank, Friendly's Tavern, the Bicycle and Surf Shop and Tiffany's Ice Cream Parlor. Two blocks to the east is the Public Library. Three blocks to the east is the gas station/convenience store and the Shipwreck Café. This is truly a unique location.

We throughly enjoyed this location! Wish there were more kitchen utensils and steak knives.

This property is in the best location. 5 minutes from beach and beautiful backyard sunsets. The house itself is very roomy. Enough space for 6 adults. We enjoyed kayaking, hiking, parasailing (traverse city) walking the beach and having a sunset campfire on the beach with smores. Great week. We would stay again.

Great place to stay when visiting Empire. Steps away from Lake Michigan. Much roomier than we thought prior to arriving. Was nice to have an open second floor loft with 3 beds for the kids and the master bedroom on main floor not far but not too close. Owner very responsive to any communication .Will stay here again in the future. Parking in carport very snug so just be careful pulling in and out not to hit pillars.

Location is everything for this beachy loftstyle home in Empire. Our family loved that we could walk everywhere we wanted to go (3 minute walk to Lake Michigan beach, same to main drag of town) and have short drives to nearby attractions such as the Sleeping Bear Lakeshore, trails, Glen Arbor. The home was large enough for us to be comfortable and we never really even utilized the basement area or washer and dryer as our days were filled up with all the fun the area has to offer. The larger kitchen made cooking easy as well as the Weber grill outback. Though very close to its sister property, it has complete privacy and was very quiet other than a lot of both foot and vehicle traffic going by, as you're one of the last houses on the road to the public beach.
We visited over 4th of July weekend and were not sure of what to expect, but were very pleased that even on the busiest days, it was still a very family friendly area and we never felt like it was too crowded. We enjoyed a fantastic fireworks show from the window of the spacious master bedroom, too!
If youre looking to explore Empire and its surrounding area this is a great rental, especially for families of young children.

We absolutely loved our stay here and were pleasantly surprised at all the room we had between the 3 floors!! We loved being in walking distance to everything. The only complaint we had was the sewer smell when we first arrived, but were able to resolve this by opening the windows which we ended up leaving open during our stay, which was lovely to wake up to the sound of the water! The only recommendation we had would be to update the pan collection to a non stick set😜

The location is wonderful! You can walk to the beach and to businesses in Empire. We saw multiple deer every day behind the house. The property was clean and well stocked. It had lots of hooks-- that is so helpful. The only drawback was having to pack towels and sheets, but that is clearly listed. We enjoyed exploring Empire, Sleeping Bear and Glen Arbor. We would definitely stay again.

This property is perfect for families that love the Michigan shore! Just a quick one minute easy walk and you can be at the shore playing, soaking up the sun or hunting for great rocks. It’s so convenient to everything.

This property is exactly where you want to be in Empire — a short walk from the beach and from downtown. You can see the lake from the living room. The carport made loading and unloading very convenient, especially with the rain we got during our weekend. The kitchen is large and nicely equipped. We had everything we needed to cook breakfast, including a coffee maker and filters.
There are two large bathrooms with showers. The main bedroom is large and comfortable. We didn’t sleep upstairs but there are three beds up there and some extra seating.
The property was homey and had everything we wanted without being cluttered. We had a wonderful stay. I will definitely try to stay here again the next time I’m in the area.

This was our second visit to this property and are looking forward to the next visit. Just a perfect location.

We’ve stayed at this property a few times and love it! The location is excellent and we always enjoy our stay!

Empire has been my family's vacation Happy Place for 26 years, so staying this close to our favorite beach was perfect. This home was clean and comfortable. The Master bedroom had a fantastic view of South Bar Lake.
We already booked our stay with this host for 2024!

Had a great time. Mother Nature didn’t really cooperate. Loved the location close to the beach, area places around to visit. Kids had fun riding bikes, climbing dunes, and playing on the beach. Thanks for allowing us to spend time in this location.

We had a great time here! The check in process was seamless & contact with the property owner was easy. We loved how close it was to the beach & walked down nearly every morning and night of our stay. While still too chilly for a full beach day, the access was great. The home was clean & a great spot for our group. Keep in mind there is only one bedroom with a door, so privacy is at a premium.

Four friends, 65 yrs and up…stayed three very relaxing and comfortable days! We couldn’t have been more pleased. The home was immaculate, roomy, and very pleasant. We had the opportunity to meet the host, and he was very nice and helpful. We were all very delighted with our stay. Location to the beach is a bonus! Thank you.

We had such a lovely time, cozy in the rain and running down to the beach to build sandcastles in the sun. And I fished in the mornings before anyone else woke up! Numerous deer, four otters, a red crane and a bald eagle…so cool! You can *walk* to the Empire Bluff trailhead! We will definitely be back!!

Very pleasant stay. The house was exceptionally clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. But the highlight is the property's location. It features beautiful views of the lakes and natural areas, with easy access to virtually everything, including the Sleeping Bear Dunes. We can't wait to visit in the summer when we can bring our bikes and use the kayaks.

The location was amazing for us! Walking distance to the beach ~ close to hiking trails & all that Sleeping Bear Dunes has to offer ~ was able to see the Northern Lights one night! Very quiet & peaceful location ~ was able to see wildlife everyday!
The house was clean & very cozy! Had everything that we needed! Shopping was close in Glen Arbor ~ 15 minute drive. We had a wonderful vacation ~ 10 days in Michigan. We would definitely like to return to this property on another vacation!

The setting/location was beautiful- so close to the beach! We were able to walk to restaurants and through the quiet neighborhood. It should be noted that the “2nd” bedroom is really a loft space—no door and no privacy-we were not expecting this! Also, the downstairs is a great space for hanging out but we didn’t use it due to musty smell. We would definitely stay here again, especially if the lower level and loft were given some TLC.

Great location to the beach,
lake breeze and view ftom main bedroom
were the best.

We love Empire and this property is perfect, convenient and close to the beach. We plan on returning next year!

Great location for those who like to hang out at the beach. Just keep in mind it's a public beach and no pool available. Beautiful area for star gazing, wild life and just sitting and enjoying the water.
This guest house is spacious but important to note that there are 3 floors and lots of steps (for those with disabilities or lack of mobility). Also, the bathrooms were fine but not attached to the bedrooms and the second bathroom is on the bottom floor which is fine, but didn't realize three of the beds (2 twins and a queen) are on the top floor (loft area) and the other queen bed is on the main floor with the other bathroom.
Also, the bottom floor is basically a game room or room for kids to hang out, but there is no television (not a problem for us, but might be for those who are traveling with children). Basically only one TV on the main floor so everyone has to watch the same TV. There was a small older TV in the loft but didn't have cable.
Location was awesome for Sleeping Bear Dunes, Empire Bluff Trail, and Pierce Scenic Drive. Also a short to drive to cute town of Glen Arbor, which has lots of restaurants, shopping, art galleries, and general recreational hub.
Overall, we loved the location and enjoyed the beauty this area had to offer.

It was a great experience. We came to stay and really enjoyed the proximity to the beach, it made the entire vacation easy. House was as described and suited our needs perfectly. I would def recommend if you want a place close to the beach and very walkable to the library, ice cream, burgers and more.

First family vacation
This was our very first vacation as a family of 5 and our first vacation since Covid. We had the BEST time. The location of this property is perfect-SO close to the beach and also downtown! The view of Lake Michigan every morning was amazing. While in Empire we visited all the shops, lots of beach time, even more ice cream, and also ventured to nearby Fishtown, Leland, Traverse City and Suttons Bay! The Dunes were also a must and the Empire Bluff Trail and Pyramid Point were SO worth the hikes to the most beautiful views!!! We loved this VRBO and would definitely book again!

This place is super close to the beach. A short walk even for a barefoot little kid. There is a playground and a beautiful beach. The beach is sandy, but just in the water is very rocky, bring water shoes to protect your feet.
The house was super clean. Bring your own sheets and towels, but there is a comforter on each bed and plenty of extra blankets in the closet. It was really nice to have 2 bathrooms, and they also provide a parking pass for the beach (which you otherwise have to pay to park at).
The town is small, but just fine with like 3 little restaurants and a few shops. Short drive to sleeping bear dunes, glen lake, and a 12 stop scenic drive that was worthwhile. Also very close to Glen Arbor where there are even more restaurants and shops and a grocery store.
We spent most days going to the beach, but also hiked the dunes (took us 3 hours and was a good workout), and went on the scenic drive and a different restaurant each day. Great stay!

This is a fantastic spot in Empire. Views of the sunset over Lake Michigan and South Bar lake. Deer and Red Winged Blackbirds in the back yard. The house is cozy and comfortable. We cooked, and found everything we needed in the kitchen. Note that you must bring your own sheets and towels, which was something of a surprise for us. Will stay again.

Location to the beach could not be better! Also the town of Empire has cute little shops and tavern. Very close to Empire bluff hiking trial and the Sleeping Bear Dunes.

We enjoyed the area & the proximity to the beach. We enjoyed a fire on the beach 3 times during our week stay.

We have stayed a number of times in Glen Arbor and on Glen Lake for the hiking and kayaking. Travel to trailheads had taken us through Empire a number of times and we wanted to give the little town a try. We couldn't be happier. The house was a 5 minute walk to the beach and 5 mins. to the few shops and eateries in town. I do a lot of my own cooking when in a vacational rental and the kitchen was adequately stocked with pots, utensils, etc. for what I needed. It is an oddity in the lakeshore area that you have to provide your own linens, towels, etc. so don't forget those. We wouldn't hesitate to stay in Empire again or to rent this house.

We enjoyed a comfortable getaway together at this property. The location is walking distance to the big lake, casual but delicious restaurants, some shopping, and old favorites. We cooked many meals at home, and enjoyed wineries and the fall weather during the day. The unit is clean, attractive and pretty well equipped. We could have used a corkscrew, some more lightbulbs and a measuring cup, but figured out workarounds. The quilts and blankets are warm and cozy for a cool weather stay, and the furnace worked beautifully and we loved the many electrical outlets in every room. The unit is quite new and pleasantly decorated with only minor needs for upholstery cleaning and paint. The sofa pictured in the living room has been replaced and there is a queen bed and two twin beds upstairs instead of the three in the photos.

An awesome location!
This house has an amazing location. It is just a few minute walk from beautiful Lake Michigan. The house itself is quite comfortable. The kitchen had most things I needed to make meals. The only thing we wished it would have had was a cork screw. We noticed that several walls are partially painted a slightly different color. It didn’t affect our stay at all but was a little odd. There are quite a few cobwebs on the window sills. Everything else was clean. The mattresses are traditional spring mattresses, so if you like more of a foam type or pillow top mattress, you may find the beds not to your liking.
