About this house rental
Talbot County MD License #STRN-23-16 - The Cove At St. Michaels is a magnificent 15.5 acre estate property with inground pool and just steps to the water, a 15 minute drive to the center of the Town of St. Michaels and approximately 3 miles to Tilghman Island, and is the perfect location for a vacation with family and friends. With its 5 bedrooms (with hypo-allergenic encasement covers on all mattresses, pillows and box springs), 7 bathrooms, 2 full kitchens, 2 living rooms, and 2 dining rooms, our home sleeps 10+ and offers enough space for our guests to all be together – or for some guests to have their alone time and separate space.. Approximately 5000 sq ft of living space
Our second living room is spacious and has been designed to comfortably watch TV, utilize our snack bar area, play a game of chess, or gather around the large table to play your favorite board game.
Our home is child-friendly with its basketball hoop, play area and Wii XBOX 360 consoles. The 4 DirecTV-connected TVs (including 65', 42” and 32” HD TVs all with DVD players) provide separate entertainment opportunities for children and adults alike.
Located on the water, with 230 feet of shoreline, our home’s wrap-around screened-in porch and second open-air porch afford the opportunity to enjoy spectacular views of the peaceful Cove and its various wildlife (swans, ducks, geese, heron, to name a few). Or enjoy similar views from the private fenced-in pool and spa area.
Our 150+’ dock and its 20’ by 10’ deck provide the opportunity to enjoy the water “up close and personal,” just sitting back and relaxing, fishing or crabbing. The dock’s 4’ MLW depth should allow you to moor your boat with little concern for the tides and our location make both the Choptank River and the Chesapeake Bay easily accessible.
So come, sit back, relax and enjoy!!
Owner has security cameras at the front and rear door and is used only when the property is not rented or occupied.
Keywords: waterfront estate, St. Michaels, pool, dock, child-friendly

We had a wonderful VACA at this property. The floorplan worked well for us as our eldest came with his spouse and 2 children. They took the unique “guest wing” complete with 1 full and 1 1/2 bath, full kitchen, dining room and family- all open concept. It had its own exist out to the lawn and pool. Our youngest was comfortable in a king suite upstairs. The second bedroom upstairs is tight with 2 sofas and 1 daybed (twin). Grandparents we’re in king suite on 1st floor.
Great dock. We brought a pop up tent and used it at the end of the dock and inside the fenced in pool.
Barbara the property manager went well beyond our expectations. Our dishwasher broke and we had a new one professionally installed in 48 hours!! I could text her and she would get back to me within minutes. Highly motivated manager. We booked for next year before we even left!

We were 10 guests including adults and children and even a small dog. Everyone had a great time. We loved the St. Michaels area, but Sherwood was about 20 minutes away by car.

Stay at Sherwood waterfront property
The house is spacious and was a perfect set up for multiple families. The pool and playground were big huts! We brought a tent for additional shade at the pool which was useful. The only challenge we would highlight is the grass on the spacious lawn was quite long so would recommend cutting it shorter/more often as it was difficult for small children to walk on as the week progressed. Overall, a wonderful stay and we would highly recommend this property!

Our family of all ages had an amazing and relaxing stay at this gorgeous home. The spacious house had everything we needed and more— both inside and out! We loved spending time at the pool, on the dock, and on the beautiful screened in porch. The two living rooms made it nice for the kids to enjoy a few shows while the adults could spend time in the main living room. The sunrises each morning were a treat and we took too many pictures to count!
We brought our own crab traps and a few inflatable boats which worked well for our stay. Barbara was also very communicative and helpful and we appreciated her assistance with the rental.
Thanks for a wonderful time! We hope to return some day!

If you are looking to get away from it all and spend time with family, connect with nature, this is the property for you. This house has everything you could ever need and I am particular. We had 6 adults and 2 children and there was more than enough space for everyone comfortably. This house hit all the marks when I was searching - pool, hot tub, dock primarily. It was an added bonus to have the lovely screened in porch to enjoy eating outside without needing to worry about bugs.
The pool is a good size with a deep end so the kids could jump in and play, however there is not much shade by the pool so sunscreen up or bring an umbrella or pop up tent as the sun can be quite strong mid day. The dock was great to tie up my kayak, and crab from. We caught several crabs and that was exciting. If you like to fish, I heard them jumping like crazy in the morning. Another pleasant surprise was the dock had running water to clean your equipment or even rinse off your hands as needed. The location of this house provides a beautiful sunrise, the waterfowl was interesting to see too.
You can feel assured that the caretaker of this home, Barbara is on top of things and very responsive. Upon check in we had a few hiccups and Barbara made the calls. Everything was fixed within the first 24 hours of our stay. She was also so kind enough to provide us with a few things we forgot nearly instantaneously. She was there when you needed her but not at all intrusive or overbearing. Barbara was also kind bringing us fresh local muffins to enjoy midweek that everyone appreciated very much.
We did eat in for several meals and go out as well. The kitchen is well equipped to prepare a great meal. If you go out to eat and want something close by- go to Marker 5 in Tilghman. 5 min away. Everything was fresh and prepared by a local chef, however they are only open Thursday - Sunday. St. Michaels has several options to eat as well but a little more of a drive, not bad though, maybe 20 minutes and you have to find parking.
Overall a lovely stay in a beautiful home. Highly recommended!

Our family had a great week on the Eastern Shore. The house was very large for our group of 10 but also very comfortable. The dock, pool and property were all very enjoyable. We rented a boat for the week which made for hours of enjoyment for all. We highly recommend this property and hope to rent it again sometime in the future.

My family and I had a great experience at the Cove at St. Michaels. The weather allowed for multiple days of pool use and we were glad to have brought pop up canopies to get some shade. The house was big enough for our families to spread out in and the basketball court also allowed for bike riding for our kids. The screened in porch was ideal for watching a storm that blew in. The view of the lake was wonderful and having a small, unofficial bird sanctuary next to the yard made for some great bird watching. Our vacation was everything we'd hoped it would be. Check in and out was easy and Barbara was very accommodating. We would definitely rent this space again!

The Cove at St. Michaels is outstanding! A perfect place for our multigenerational family to enjoy a week together. We loved how roomy and comfortable the house was, with space for all of us to be together or apart. Conversing, enjoying the spectacular view, solving jigsaw puzzles, relaxing on the terrific wrap-around screened porch, playing board games (many provided), Zooming for remote school (excellent WIFI connection!), preparing meals or special treats, playing outside, swimming in the large and very clean pool(and then jumping in the adjacent hot tub!) - and more.
Barbara was extremely helpful before arrival and during our stay. She even made sure that our granddaughters had all the kitchen equipment they needed for their cooking adventures!
An added bonus – grocery pickup from Graul’s Market in St. Michaels was a snap.
A ten-star vacation for us!

This is a wonderful house on a secluded property right on the water in Sherwood, MD. It's the perfect place for a family vacation! There were plenty of bedrooms for the 9 of us that stayed here and we had lots of room to spread out. We loved the 2 living areas and spent many hours swimming the pool and fishing off of the private pier. This was just what we were looking for this summer for a getaway that was close to St. Michael's but still away from the crowds. We look forward to returning one day!

Nice stay with a few recommendations
Had a great stay at this property. It was very clean with masks and sanitizer available (much appreciated during COVID times). The house is large and well equipped. The sprawling nature of the house makes it easy to spread out, although the layout was a slight challenge for our family as we needed more than two bedrooms to be close together since we were traveling with many young children (there is one large master on one side of the downstairs; two small rooms on the other side of the downstairs (which is too far for a non-WIFI baby monitor to reach); and two bedrooms upstairs).
The property is gorgeous and we used the pool almost all day every day and spent a lot of time on the screened in porch. Barbara was a wonderful host and was extremely responsive.
My two recommendations are:
1 - please update the check in / out times on the VRBO site. A prior review also mentioned that the VRBO site says 4pm check in / 11am check-out, but the actual times are 5pm & 10am.
2 - more outdoor seating and umbrellas would be very useful! The property has a beautiful lawn and nice dock but no chairs, and no umbrellas anywhere. There is very little natural shade because there is not a tree cover, so we didn't get to spend as much time sitting outside during the day as we would've liked.
Overall a nice stay!

Idyllic Location
Staying on the Cove near picturesque St. Michael's was a wonderful vacation getaway for our family. The home was spacious, the wraparound porch was serene, the pool was loads of fun and the time together with family was priceless. Barbara was responsive and helpful throughout our stay. A great time!!

Wonderful Social Distance Stay
Perfect vacation house when the goal is to stay around the house. Kids loved the pool, renting a boat at the dock was easy. House is marketed well, but still a little better than advertised

Perfect Week Away
The Cove was wonderful! We spent hours on the screened porch, in the pool, at the playground, and on the dock. The house is large enough that everyone could be together or spread out. The layout also made it so early-risers did not disrupt everyone else. Great property!

Great place for a socially distanced vacation
This house is the perfect getaway during the pandemic thanks to it’s privacy, but is still close enough to Tilghman Island and St. Michaels to be convenient. The property is beautiful and the water views of the Cove are breathtaking. The house has ample space for everyone. Bedrooms are large and there is a bathroom for each bedroom. There are two living rooms which were perfect for the kids to have their own space to hang out. We spent most of our time by the pool, fishing/crabbing off the dock, and enjoying the views from the screened in porch. We rented kayaks and had a great time exploring the Cove. There’s a basketball court too so bring your ball along if you like to play. Barbara was very friendly and accessible before and during our trip.

Perfect river house!
We had such a wonderful week at this property, none of us wanted to leave! A secluded & beautiful part of the river, we fished & crabbed off the private jetty & the pool was clean & warm. The house is so big it had more than enough room for our family & was very well stocked with everything we needed! We would definitely return for another stay here!

We’ve rented on the Eastern Shore for years, this is a very nice property on a great cove off Harris Creek. Barbara is great to work with. Can’t recommend here or the property enough.

Beautiful House
I can't express how beautiful the house and pool was the pictures don't do it justice. We had a range from a 5 year old to 60 and there was plenty of privacy when needed. The kids loved the basketball court. We wish we could have utilized the yard more but the grass was pretty high, when we got there. When we mentioned it to the property manager right away she stopped by and thought it wasn't bad and would try to get someone out. They wound up coming on Fri when we had already been there for 5 days, and they were cutting the neighbor's house as well. So I guess they weren't able to come out any sooner. So when your kids are complaining or running through the grass as fast as they can because it's itchy on there legs. It makes them not want to go outside. We are an outdoors family and work a lot and wanted a retreat. When we went to the dock for our boat it was covered in bird dropping no place to even grab without touching droppings. We found a hose on the side of the house which was great, long enough to wash down the long beautiful dock, just seemed neglected. I did reach out to property manager the same time about the grass about a hose. She bought another hose for the dock the next day and was told to put back the other for the pool service. The towns close by were very cute and people were very nice. Other than the property manager coming at 10am when we were cleaning up when our check out was 11am which is listed on the site and in the book that she referenced 3xs during our stay.Telling us "ok let's go, I have the cleaning crew coming your suppose to be out by 10am". I felt it was very rude and intrusive, in front of my in- laws and children. Again we work hard and wanted a retreat felt interrupted during our week with the property manager, pool service in the middle of the day and grass being cut again in the middle of another day. And then the manager coming an hour earlier pushing us out the door. And mind you we were just finishing up dishing and was packed up ready to leave for 11 not 10.

A beautiful property!
We had a lovely stay in a beautiful home. A few details still need addressing to make the experience perfect. For instance, the hot tub was not hot and needed a service (according to the display); the playground was great but needed a bit of cleaning before the kids could get on it due to spider webs and bird droppings and a bit of left over winter smudge; and putting in a small bench or chairs at the end of the peer would make it perfect for fishing or just enjoying the view. But these were small details. The house is spacious and comfortable, the location is fantastic, and the whole family (from age 7 months to 62) felt very comfortable. The property manager was fantastic, making every aspect of renting easy. She put up with lots of requests and modifications with ease. We will definitely be open to renting this house again and encourage others to do the same.

A beautiful property providing a very special place to unwind
This was an amazing place to spend time with family (including young grandchildren) and friends. There was plenty of room for everyone and enough space for people to spread out. The website was a bit unclear about the extra sofa space but it all worked out very well. We were there for a wedding but would love to return some time to just relax and enjoy the porch, the view of the cove, the pool, the hottub. The house is very clean and the furniture all lovely and in very good condition. The beds were all very comfortable except the trundle bed upstairs (a bit squeaky and thin) . The kitchen (S!) were fantastic with lots of space to dine with our large group. Very nice set up for 2 families affording some privacy. My grandson says he loves Grandma's house in Maryland and can't wait to go back. (if only!!!). We spent hours at the drawbridge and took an amazing sail on the bay on a lovely historic sailboat. The owners clearly care about this property and the attention to detail was impressive. If I ever have a reason to return to the area I would surely want to stay on this property.

Did not want to leave
We had an amazing time at this water front tranquil property. Loved sitting by the fire place at night, and looking at the moon over the water. I came with another family and we were able to spread out and fit 10 people with no problem. The owner was very helpful with any inquiry's and had good suggestions for us as well. The kids played soccer in the huge back yard. I even taught my 8 year old how to ride a bike on the circular driveway I owe you one for that ! They have this great wrap around porch that looks at the cove. I could not think of a better place to recharge and relax. On the way home the kids asked when we can go back. We definitely plan on returning!

This was paradise!
This house accommodated my large extended family comfortably. Its layout was conducive to having the kids and adults each enjoy their own space comfortably. The XBox kept the kids entertained for hours while the adults hung out around the fire. We loved it! We used the bikes to go on bike rides over the bridge and spent time in the pool and hot tub as well. We are planning on going back again next year and I cannot recommend a more relaxing and suitable vacation spot for a family of any size! The sunrise over the lake was one of the most exquisite things i have ever seen. The kids are already begging to go back.....

great house
We had a great time with extended family. The layout of the house works wonderfully for multiple families to spread out. The yard was huge and allowed for many games, and the pool allowed us to cool off. It was just far enough from st michaels where it was secluded and quiet, but close enough that we could still enjoy going there to eat and shop. A wonderful house and we will definitely want to use it again when we vacation to st michaels.

Wow!!! Can't wait to go back again!
Our experience at The Cove was wonderful. We received detailed directions to the quiet location. The home is very spacious; there was no arguing with the kids in our family about who got to sleep where. The kitchens are right next to the dining rooms, which meant that I could keep an eye on what was being snuck into my food! :-) The living room was so comfy that we did not feel guilty just spending time in there and doing nothing, just relaxing. The living room and outside enclosed porch overlook Dun Cove, which we went out to every day. There is a sort of serenity we felt sitting on lawn chairs on the large lawn. And while we saw boats come in and out of the cove, we hardly heard them, which made the scene so much nicer. Waking up early for the sunrise is a MUST!
The house was immaculately clean, spacious, warm and inviting. Even with the breathtaking views, our son spent some time on the Xbox Kinect; who can blame him? There is an outdoor basketball hoop and plenty of children's games, lego and puzzles to keep busy.
Oh, did I mention the pool and the hot tub? The entire family spent time in both and then dried off by sitting outside on those lawn chairs I mentioned. That was fun and relaxing, something we would do daily. There are quaint shops in downtown St. Michaels and nearby stores such as Target not too far away.
This is an ideal location for a large family get together and/or multiple family vacation. We can not wait to go back!

Myers Family Vacation
The Cove exceeded our family's expectations as a wonderful vacation destination enjoyed by our large family. From the moment we arrived, there was something for everyone...
fishing off the dock,
sailing out of the cove,
enjoying sunrises while watching osprey,
afternoons in the pool,
shopping in nearby St. Michaels and Queenstown outlets.
kayaking (we rented a kayak in St. Michaels to enjoy for three days while at The Cove),
and even a soccer game on the lawn out front.
We found the owner to be extremely prompt and helpful with all of our needs and questions. The home and grounds were beautiful, well cared for and clean. We would definitely look forward to another vacation at this same property.
We have all come home rested and refreshed after enjoying your beautiful setting. Thank you.
