The surrounding grounds and communal spaces were fabulous. The kitchen area has what you will need to take back to your room. Therefore there is not a glass or anything in the room. We like to settle in to our room and keep to ourselves after we sit outside and enjoy the views and the sunset, which was very lovely at this location.
The bed was miserable. The frame was inadequate and the mattress was lumpy. The room had so many windows with pull down blinds and there was way too much light. The room was not as clean as I would have liked at all, the shower especially. This room would be nice for a lot of people but with no television and being very worn it wasn't for us.

There's a lot going for this hotel, and a few major issues (which I'll highlight below).
Beautiful grounds with hammocks, landscaping, and relaxing outdoor seating areas (which would not be usable in the winter). Bishop is lovely, and the location is convenient. The staff are also friendly. Our room was clean. Favorite part was probably the guesthouse cat, who is very cute and even caught a rat one day.
The common room was generally nice. The kitchen was said to be fully equipped but it only had portable camp stoves and the fridge was stuffed chaotically the entire 4 days of our stay. There's only one sink, which can be a bottleneck for shared kitchens.
Despite the negatives (below), I genuinely liked the vibes and atmosphere here. I think the guesthouse could correct these issues and become a truly wonderful place to stay.
1. Misleading room name and description: We booked the "Deluxe Double" on Booking and it was absolutely tiny and barebones - only room enough for a bed, no chairs, no space to turn around, only one small shelf. But this room is called the "Micro Private Room" on their website - a much more honest, realistic name. I notice all other room names are the same between their website and Booking.com - except for this one. It feels deliberately misleading on their part to use 'deluxe double' here.
We've stayed in and loved other tiny rooms that are ergonomically designed to be small - they have built-in cubbies and shelves and it works. This literally is a bed crammed into a room. The room description also includes multiple features that are actually part of the common room. But it's placed in the section for in-room amenities, so it reads as if this room has its own kitchen and fireplace. The hotel should correct this.
2. Common room hours: Almost every single hostel, guesthouse, and mountain lodge I've stayed in Europe is able to open their common rooms 24 hours. This is absolutely necessary in a hotel where the rooms have zero sitting area or are shared to allow guests some space to relax that's not their bed. But common room/kitchen hours are 6am to 10pm. If you arrive late and want to refrigerate your food, forget about it. The hours are also biased towards early birds and not night owls - nowhere to sit or eat if you have a big day in the mountains.
If the concern is about staff hours and security, please don't have the staff work more - just secure it with a key pad and key code. Trust your guests to be adults and clean up. Put up some rules.
3. This hotel also charges two taxes - 12% city tax and an unspecified 14.5% tax. All other Bishop hotels only charge the 12% tax. What is this other 14.5% tax for? For 4 nights in a tiny room, it was about $750.

Loved the informality of the place, the common room with morning tea/coffee, the availability of a washing machine, the friendly staff.
Stayed in 2 different rooms. One room had a comfortable bed, the second room had a very uncomfortable bed.

Really nice combination between high class hostel and a hotel. Rooms are modern and super clean. Kitchen has everything! Seriously do not even bring salt if you want to cook. Otherwise, restaurants are walking distance. No TV , who need it? Fireplace and bbq grills for everyone to use .
I would add a mirror in the room.

nice charming spot near the mountains, usd as a stop between Mamoth and D.V
some rooms are in front of the main road (noise, traffic, no charm)
rooms are small
I shall recomend to go direct to Mamoth lakes for the night, for the ones touring the country & looking to visit the place in 1 day, half day

Clean, apparently recently renewed, and very basic; amenities included wonderful towels, very good shower, and feeling of security. Parking was plentiful, access was easy. Private. Good community room.
Sterile to the point of seeming like a clinical examination room. Bed was uncomfortable, merely a foam slab; sleep did not come and aching bones continued to ache. Room needs softening, perhaps with throw rugs (especially for bare feet when getting out of bed), pictures on the walls, a better mattress, perhaps a chair.

This place is awesome! It's like the high end glamping equivalent of a hostel. Every touch exceeded the norm. Kudos to whoever designed it, every detail is tasteful, comfy, set up to provide everything travelers would want and need. Can't wait to return!
Literally nothing. It was terrific!

Because Bishop is such an adventure hot spot, the location and layout was perfect. Getting up and grabbing a free cup of coffee before you lay out your maps and plan your adventures was great. The centralized communal room and kitchen was the perfect place to do this, and meet people doing the same thing.
The place was amazing, so this is just nit picky for the sake of having to put down something. Our check in code did not work when we showed up. No big deal. It was sorted out in minutes, but it would have been bothersome if we showed up after hours.

Quite small, but adequate.

Fantastic location in Bishop - 1 minute to the bakery, the proximity of Sierra Nevada trails, and a good layover spot on the way to Yosemite.
The object has everything you might need - a common kitchen is well equipped, same applies to the grill and relax areas. You can relax by the fireplace on the cooler evenings. The staff is friendly, helpful and specialty coffee is complimentary in the morning.
The design is also very cozy and nice, cleanliness is perfect.
Our room was very basic, but this is the concept of the whole place - common kitchen, recreation areas, etc. However, it wasn't a problem for us at all.

The rooms were fantastic and very well kept up. Fixtures were all pretty new and the rooms had good climate control. The property is very beautiful with pond and BBQ's and nice decks. Pretty lawn area with picnic tables and comfy chairs. Really friendly cat stays on the premises and visits with customers. Had a very nice kitchen and large room for dining and high quality hot coffee provided. Can cook your own meals and use stoves and silverware/dinnerware/cookware. Just a great place to stay and in one of the best locations with good onsite parking. Very nice place and very relaxing. My son had recommended staying here and I was happy we did.

Everything was clean and the community kitchen was nice.
Fridge was way too small to be shared among so many people, there was an awkward 7am Sunday worship service taking over the breakfast and coffee area, and our room was so small the two of us were barely able to dance around each other to get to the bathroom. Will not be booking again.

The property was ideal for our family of 6, with two 5 year old kids. We had the apartment and a king room. The location was perfect for our needs, right next door to Schats Bakery, 30-45 minutes away from places for the kids to play in the snow and Mammoth. It was clean, very well-appointed, and the staff was exceptionally welcoming. The large common room was beautiful and spacious, and there were several inviting seating areas outdoors. We would love to stay there again in the future.

We love to stay here. I brought my family and they like the environment and how quiet this place is. We usually stay here. Restaurants and Markets are walking distance. No need to drive. walk-in distance. We will come back.

I have traveled for a living for the past 15 years and this was by far, one of my favorites. The rooms are so clean, the staff is so welcoming, the communal areas are so cool. And the property is very quaint comfortable and has an amazing vibe. We absolutely loved our stay here and cannot wait to go back.
