About this cabin rental
Vacationing amid the rugged Sierra Blanca doesn’t have to mean roughing it. Case in point: A Trip to Heaven, a sprawling 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom house in Ruidoso that is richly furnished and filled with little luxuries. When you’re here, you’ll understand just how fitting the name is!
As you drive up the long private roadway to the home, you’ll be impressed by the privacy—and by its huge driveway, which has room for multiple vehicles. Equally impressive is the tree-studded setting and the expansive deck designed to make the most of it. The multiple seating areas, some sunny and some shady, are ideal for sipping your morning coffee on a bright spring day or seeking out the constellations on a balmy summer night. A clay fire pit will keep you toasty on brisk autumn evenings.
You can dine on the deck as well, at several bistro tables. If you reel in any rainbow trout from the regularly stocked Alto Lake, which is less than 10 minutes away, you can cook it alfresco on the deck’s gas grill. Of course, A Trip to Heaven has a full kitchen inside as well. Open and lavishly outfitted, it includes a full array of stainless-steel appliances, cookware, and tableware galore, a wealth of storage, an island with a seat for the sous chef, and even a desk. Set up your laptop here, use the free WiFi to check out new recipes, and get cooking!
Prefer eating to cooking? You can sit down at the breakfast bar, which seats 6 people in comfortable bucket chairs or gather at the formal dining table, which seats 8 in equally splendid comfort and style. If you’re vacationing with other families, the kids can eat in one area while the adults enjoy a quieter, more leisurely meal in the other.
A Trip to Heaven’s living room, like the rest of the home, is spacious and thoughtfully furnished. The entire group can gather together to watch TV, play charades by the fireplace, or shoot pool at the regulation-size table. Multiple smaller seating areas are ideal for losing yourself in a

There are several things we really enjoyed about our stay, the house was very clean and spacious, great hot water in all bathrooms and plenty of towels. The pool table, grill and hot tub were nice. The check-in and check-out processes were easy. However, there were several deficiencies . For example, the disposal didn’t work and water backed up in the sink. When we notified the property manager, they did come out promptly and fix it. One of the door handles on the entry door was almost completely off. The vent over the stove did not work well, glass was broken on one of the oven doors, in the master bathroom, you could not close the door to the toilet or you would get locked in. One of the bedrooms had a baseball sized hole in the wall, when the burners on the stove were turned on, the electric starter kept going off on the other burners and it smelled like gas was leaking from the unlit burners. The kitchen was stocked with a few things, but there were very few serving dishes, dish towels, cups and drinking glasses. The pots and pans were old and some were falling apart. The area of the house that had the majority of the bedrooms did not cool well, but windows were very difficult to raise and many of the screens had holes in them. The fans provided helped. There were no cleaning supplies other than for the dishwasher. We were able to find extra pillows, but no available pillowcases. There are beautiful trees but no unobstructed views of the mountains as advertised.

We loved our time in Ruidoso. The house was absolutely perfect for our family. The one exception was that it was advertised to have two twin beds in one of the bedrooms which was perfect for our 20 plus year old grandsons. However that bedroom had one day bed and a mattress in the closet. The boys didn’t mind and everyone had a great time.

Our first impression of the house was “Wow”. But there were a few small issues that made it a little shoddy. Eg. Paper shade covering master bedroom access to the hot tub is old and torn. The drapes in the main room are off their hooks in several places. There are no dish towels in the kitchen. The ac is impossible to regulate- part of the house is hot while part is cold. There needs to be handrails on the stairs for older guests. Overall, it fit our needs but little improvements could make it spectacular.

This house was just perfect for our family reunion! It was a great location! We could not ask for anything more! The local staff especially Stephanie were so kind. Our reunion was so perfect and we want to thank all involved for their contribution!

I couldn't tell you how happy we were at this beautiful home. The pictures are just half of what you can expect. It a beautiful home on top of the hill with beautiful views. The house was clean and organized, heaters worked great! For our family trip, that house was the perfect spot. Do not hesitate, you will not regret your sta. They are very helpful and I look forward to relaxing here again soon.

Wonderful Stay
Pictures didn’t do this beautiful property justice. House is in good working order, clean but it could use a good deep cleaning on the baseboards and corners.
We were a little surprised that there were steps leading to master bedroom and steps leading to the three other bedrooms.
We hope to rent this property again in the future! It’s truly a “Trip to Heaven”.

Large master and living room
The fifth room was not a room where you could sleep due to the temperature. Great for a group of 12. Extended master and large living room

More like trip to hell
When we first arrived at the property, there were unfinished stairs that go up to the front door which was the only door with a keypad to get in. There were about 4 feet of stairs missing and a giant hole that dropped about 8 feet if you were to not pay attention and walk up the half done stairs. I immediately called the rental office it was about 4:30. And he said since it was so late in the evening no one could come out til morning to switch the keypad to a different door, and asked if anyone could get up the stairs and I told him only way we can get in is to lift up one of our kids and have them go unlock the door and the side door. So that’s what we did, next morning my family and I left and about 4pm we returned and notice no keypad on any other door, so I called the office again, and the guy said he forgot and that he would send someone with a garage clicker so that we could open the garage to gain access to the house, the guy showed up with a garage clicker that was for a different house. Said he would come back and never did. It’s already after 5 so I couldn’t call main office. By this point I’m just done. Who rents a house when the people can’t even enter it properly. Not to mention the railing on the back deck that my daughter almost fell off of because she barely leaned on it to look at the deer underneath. The shower heads need to be cleaned they are clogged with calcium buildup so u barely get any water out. There are cobwebs all over. The lights in the house have switches in other rooms. The bath tub jets don’t work. The hot tub smelled dirty so we never got in. It was 20 degrees outside so we had to turn heater on, there are 4 thermostats in the house, good luck figuring out which to use, we set every single one to 68 and all the bedrooms were way to hot to sleep and the master was freezing cold. The heater never kicked off, it just constantly runs, so u have to either have heat and burn up or have no heat and freeze. I normally don’t do reviews but I really don’t want anyone to have to have their family trip ruined by staying at this home.

Family Trip
This VRBO was beautiful and in a great location, only had a few problems the bottom oven only warmed food didn't know this and delayed dinner until midnight. And shower heads all need replacing barely any water pressure for showers. Whoever cleans for the owners need to do a better job had lots dust and cobwebs. Not trying to be picky but we have family that have VRBO's guess why critical. But it really is a beautiful place ,decorated nice and comfortable for a large family and we will return. Not sure how to contact owners to give them feedback.

Fantastic Home!
This home is amazing. The photos do not do it justice. It is beautifully dcorated and located in a quiet neighborhood. Elk and deer was in our driveway daily and my girls loved that. The deck is nice for relaxing in the evening. Close to restaurants and shopping. Check in and out was so easy. House had everything you could need. Would absolutely LOVE to stay here again.

A trip to heaven started off as a trip to hell. Upon arrival to the house at 2am the alarm went off through out the whole house and neighborhood. I called the rental property and they placed me on whole for almost 20 min while the alarm was loudly going off. They told me they could not get a hold of any one and would return my call. Someone from the alarm company finally called and told us to sit in the living room without moving in the cold until he arrived. Almost an hour later someone showed up and finally disarmed the alarm. A few days later someone from the water company showed up looking into the water pressure issues. Another day I was walking on the deck and almost triped and fell on some loose screws. The beds were very uncomfortable to the point we left a day early. The house was very dusty, my allergies were horrible. The house did have kitchen supplies but the pots and pans really need to be replaced. The dishwasher did not wash the dishes well, they came out of the washer dirty everytime. The room doors did not shut, none of them. The house needs upkeep and cleaning. The stay was so awful we left a day early, not worth the money.

Fabulous Family Weekend
Overall the home is stunning and perfect for a group, however, the kitchen leaves alot to be desired. Nothing matches, had to request folks so adults could eat, no bowls or serving dishes and barware is very lacking, although the place has a beautiful bar area. I called the property manager to advise that when you're spending that much per night you expect beautiful kitchen amenities. He apologized and brought silverware. Great location, beautiful home and I hope my comments to the property manager have them take action. Not even a bowl to make a salad...no more complaining, we had a great time and loved our stay!

Beautiful mini mansion for 2 families
Beautiful clean home. It was a total of 12 in our party. Very comfortable, plenty of towels & extra blankets & pillows. Very chilly at night in july. Deer came by to eat right off our hands right outside the patio. Warm water in the shower takes a few minutes tho. Master bedroom has no lock fyi but overall gorgeous home. Will definitely stay there again. Very accommodating for big group
