This very private house is nestled on the edge of town yet it’s only 10 blocks from the Courthouse and restaurants. From our spacious covered back patio you will have unobstructed views of stunning ranch land, gorgeous sunsets and dark skies for nightly star gazing. We promise that you will not want to leave!

The space
Big Sky Marfa is large enough for guests to spread out or group together for dinner, movies and games. It comes equipped with:
Open floorpan (kitchen/dining/living).
* Saltillo tile floors, plaster walls and vintage Turkish rugs and pillows throughout.
* Large living room with 16' ceiling and clerestory windows, french doors opening to the back patio, comfortable couch, wood burning kiva fireplace, projector and movies, and a TV (cable not provided, please use your own netflix/hulu/amazon/etc. accounts).
* State of the art kitchen featuring a Wolfe range, Subzero fridge and windows with great views of the ranch land and a glass door that leads out to the patio.
* Dining room with a large 10-person dining table and a Bose speaker with bluetooth.
* Windowed game room facing the front of the house with a three person equipale table and a window bench that is perfect for playing cards and watching the sunrise.
* Large covered back patio w/ 8 person table, gas BBQ grill, lounging chair and stunning sunset views.
* Fenced backyard (wire fence so you don’t see it) with an acre of paths and native desert plants.
* Large covered front porch with a table and chairs to view the early morning sunrise.
* Spacious master suite with king bed, wood burning kiva fireplace, comfortable chairs and french doors leading out to the back patio. There is also a luxurious ensuite bathroom featuring two separate vanities, a Kolher tub for Two tub and a two person walk in rain shower.
* Two guest bedrooms with queen beds, natural light and beautiful decor. Each bedroom has a closet, chair, table and french doors that open to a front porch with chairs.
* A full size guest bathroom located off the hallway that is shared by the two guest bedrooms. The bathroom has a spacious shower.
* Laundry room with a utility sink and a full size washer and dryer. The laundry room is off the garage and also serves as a mud room for shoes, coats and gear.
* A half bath is located off the mud/laundry room.
* Large garage opens into the laundry/mud room which then connects to the kitchen. The garage also has a second refrigerator and access to the backyard.

Guest access
All parts of the house are accessible with the exception of the following:
1. Master closet is locked. Garment rack with rolling wheels is provided.
2. Basement is locked.

Other things to note
Internet access is provided via wifi. AT&T goes down often so please don’t depend on it for work. Please read House Manual for detailed information.
Wildlife: Because our house is on the edge of town, we are fortunate enough to have an abundance of wildlife. If you keep watch, you may see a bobcat, javelinas, bats and beautiful birds. You may also encounter thorns, scorpions and snakes so always take care when walking around outside. It is wise to always wear shoes when walking around in the yard.
Bats: We sometimes have a bat colony that lives in the front eaves of our house. We are grateful for the bats because they eat the mosquitoes. However, the downside to having bats is you may find bat guano on the front porch. While we do our best to sweep it away, it comes back quickly. Please excuse their poor bathroom habits.

Extra Pillows/Fans/Blankets/Pack-n-Play can be found in the first guest bedroom closet.


Additional Information
Big Sky is nestled in the northwest quadrant of Marfa and has the darkest skies of the lower 48 states. From our property, the view to the north during the day is of the Davis Mountain range, to the east is the town of Marfa, to the west is rolling West Texas cattle land (home of some brilliant sunsets), and to the south is the Chihuahuan Desert and Chinati Peak. Big Bend is about and hour and a half away and the McDonald Observatory is about 40 minutes to the north (a trip worth making)!

Getting around
Big Sky is a (beautiful) 10-15 minute walk from the heart of downtown. Or bring your bikes and ride to town. Electric bikes are available at Ebike Marfa.
