About this house rental
Beautiful rustic, yet sophisticated house built in 2008. It is on a large wooded lot on the main channel of the lake with a really big water view. The best sunset view is from the upper screened-in porch, with the trees silhouetted in between. Blue herons, cranes, and many other birds and wildlife. Hike to the dam on a trail through the woods; enjoy sitting on the dock or swimming and boating off the dock in the summer.
State of the art kitchen with a gas range, double convection ovens, magnificent granite counter tops, and a natural stone bar with soft lighting. Dining area connects the kitchen to the den, which has a huge stone fireplace, comfortable Bob Timberlake furnishings, and a 63' high definition plasma television with surround sound. Wet-bar in the den has a built-in ice maker, wine rack, and handy sink. Screened windows open in front and back to allow a wonderful cross breeze if desired.
Off the kitchen is a screened-in porch with rustic rocking chairs and tables. The huge deck, connected to the kitchen and den, is equipped with a gas grill and a small table for outside meals. Steps lead you downstairs to a raised wooded walkway to the dock.
Every room has an a full view of the water. You feel like you are in a tree house, which is where it got the name Tarheel Tree house! The main master bedroom has a large walk-in shower with dual shower heads.
Three bedrooms: 2 masters with queen beds, 1 bedroom with 2 queen beds. The beds are made for comfort with pillow-top mattresses and homestyle quilts. Bedrooms are decorated for with artwork and charming furniture.
The detached garage has a playroom above it with pool and foosball tables, along with a queen-size futon. It is not air-conditioned or heated, so it is most comfortable when temperatures allow for the window and door to be open for a cross-breeze.
There is one twin-sized foam mattress that can be moved to any room in the house for sleeping.

Beautiful home!!!! A lot of steps to the lake but so worth it for the amazing view. The only drawback was some dogs running around and coming up on the deck. They were friendly and fortunately there was a gate and we kept it closed. The air conditioning broke while we were there and the owners took care of that quickly and got someone out there to fix it. Would definitely stay here again.

Our family had a great week at the lake! This house is beautiful and well stocked and clean. It is a great location on the lake too. The only bummer was that the room over the garage didn't have air condition and we had counted on that for sleeping space. I don't remember reading that when we booked but totally could've been my oversight. To put in boats/jet skis, you will want to use tamarac marina. Thanks for a great week!

Extremely relaxing! Love love the screened in porch and we played cards outside on the table facing the water. The breeze was amazing and the beauty was breathtaking. Specially every evening with the sunset God is good.🙏

We really enjoyed staying at the Tar Heel House. It was just what we were looking for on our long weekend getaway with friends and family. It’s nestled back in the woods which gives you the feeling of being in the mountains. Every room in the house offered amazing views of the lake. Easy access putting the boats in at the marina. Lots of open water for skiing, wake surfing and tubing. The fishing was great as well. We caught a variety brim, crappy and catfish. We will definitely be booking and staying again.

The large, very well equipped kitchen, table big enough for 8-10 people, and comfortable great room with huge TV. Comfy bedrooms, ALL with great views of the lake. Great fishing, right from the dock! And very responsive owners. We really enjoyed our stay. Warning: the driveway down to the house is steep and there are 56 steps down to the water. But that adds to the fun!

Beautiful home that was exactly as advertised. We were in the area for a family wedding and we totally enjoyed the house. The owners were even kind enough to buy an iron and ironing board so that we could iron our wedding clothes. Gorgeous view of the lake and lovely area. Definitely recommend this property.

We were celebrating my daughters 30th birthday.
We had a great time on the lake, we took our corn hole and played on the deck. There was plenty of room for the family meals. Tarheel Tree House has all you need for lake fun and room for gathering...inside or out.

I’ve stayed at a lot of rentals over the years and this one is by far the best! Although it is secluded and off the beaten path it has everything you could possibly need to feel at home and there was really no reason to leave. This was a staycation for us since we only live 20 minutes away but we wanted to enjoy some time on the lake and that we did! We fished from dawn to dusk and spent lazy time floating in water. I am particular about my cooking supplies and always being my own stuff but didn’t need any of it because the kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, bowls, utensils, etc.
Tons of outdoor seating in the 2 screened in porches, deck, and dock.
The owners of this home spared no expense and we felt at home from the moment I arrived. We will definitely rent this gem again!

We loved the location and all the trees provided a feeling of solitude. The dock was great for a quiet morning coffee, afternoon swims, and wonderful sunsets. We also enjoyed screen porches on two levels and outdoor deck space.
Inside had plenty of space and we liked how the secondary bedrooms each had their own toilet/sink room with a shared shower in between.
The owners were very responsive and helpful. There were 5 of us and we had plenty of room for meals, games, and just relaxing. We really enjoyed our time there.

Beautiful home with great views. We were very comfortable here for our 7 days. The playroom under the stairs is a great bonus. The hosts are nice and neighbor dogs are quite friendly. Very relaxing place to stay. Would definitely stay again!!

You will not get better views than at this lake house. We had some gorgeous sunsets. The kids enjoyed the lake and the playroom. The house was big and pretty and clean. The only downside was there were not enough bath towels for our party. We will definitely be staying here again. We really enjoyed our stay.

The property was as described and as pictured. There were 2 dogs that visited, but we kept the gate up on the deck to prvent them from coming up while we were hanging out with family. They were not clean. We enjoy dogs, but didn't want to smell them while eating or hanging out.

The beauty of this home is difficult to describe! We loved the comfort of the living space and seeing the lake from every window. The shower in the master was luxurious! We thoroughly enjoyed fishing from the dock! We hope to return soon!

Very nice house in a quiet location. Most definitely enjoyed our stay. Only reason for 4 stars and not five is because the house was not as clean as expected (thick dust on kitchen floor, a lot of coffee grounds in the water compartment of coffee maker) and because there was no picture in listing to show the driveway which is important for those that plan to bring a boat to the lake. Had to back down the driveway which is very steep and winding. The neighbor has two dogs that will visit but they are friendly. The house also has a mini kids playroom which my son absolutely loved. Definitely recommend staying here.

The property was not in the best condition when we arrived. Appliances did not work, holes in wall that looked like they were half fixed, not very clean, and the dock was in really bad shape. A few Items in the home were broken and my family was accused of breaking them during our stay plus charged for them. I did not think to take photos beforehand and have never experienced this with all the times I have stayed at a property with VRBO. We paid an additional $200 for trash pick up and moving furniture that we moved during our stay to accommodate room for guests. We also paid the fee for items we did not break but tried to be civil and nice to the property owners. I then received an additional
Request for $250 that I felt was unnecessary. The dock was in horrible condition. Handrails we’re not attached as well as rusty nails everywhere. There were loose boards that were not nailed down and falling apart. I did not feel it was safe for my children. I do not recommend this property to anyone especially a family with small
children until the dock is repaired.

My brother's and myself really enjoyed this house. The house was very comfortable and cozy. The listing is as advertised. It's not close to anything. Grocery stores and gas stations are about 15 to 20 minutes away so if the drive isn't bad then this is a very great place. The instructions from the host were very clear and spot on. The neighbors did have a dog that kept coming over and laying on the front porch but was very nice. They also had a second more aggressive dog that chased in the house on the last night but outside of that definitely enjoyed our stay.

Oh my gosh! What an INCREDIBLE house! If you are getting married at The Barn at Cedar Hill, look no further, book this place! It’s so perfect and roomie to get ready!! We LOVE this house and will totally be back to enjoy the lake!

We rented the home for an in town wedding. The house is as described and accurately shown. The above the garage room bedding could use an upgrade and is a little musty, we didn’t use it. Everything else was fine and the owner was very responsive to our questions! Would stay there again.

We had an awesome experience at the Tarheel Treehouse. Our family stayed for 4 nights for our daughter’s wedding at The Barn at Cedar Hill. It was a fantastic location with amazing views and accommodations. We would definitely recommend this house.

We had an amazing time at the Tarheel Treehouse! We had a group of 3 adults and 4 kids. The kids played in the lake all day and we had nice family meals. The home is beautifully decorated, comfortable and feels like a true vacation home. As mentioned in other reviews, the driveway is surprisingly steep and there are neighbors dogs that hang around. Neither of these were ultimately any trouble and did not detract from the overall amazing experience we had. Rausa was quick to respond with answers to questions we had and was very accommodating to a last minute schedule switch. We hope to return next year!

Great home located on the south side of the lake. Well furnished.. kids enjoyed the small play room located off the living room & game room above the garage (It was kinda hot though). The screen in porches were perfect to relax and watch the summer thunderstorms roll in. Good finish at the dock. It would have been nice to have curtains in the master bedroom and the sheets could have been better quality, but overall, it was a great trip and we had a blast!!

Very Clean on a Beautiful part of the lake with Deep Water!
We enjoyed our stay! The home was very clean and unlike many parts of High Rock the deeper water means cleaner water. I’d love a king bed instead of the queen. I didn’t realize the great amount of stairs. If my knees are better, we would definitely stay here again.
The owners responded to all my questions very quickly. Everything was great!

We had 6 adults stay comfortably at the house. Got a workout in with all the stairs, but it isn’t called the treehouse for nothing :). The stay was way too short. We all had a great time.
