Loved the view of the Manitous and the beach. Rustic cabin feel was pleasant and quiet. Will definitely go back !!

We had a wonderful time! The best of both worlds - a cabin in the woods with a sunny beach a stone's throw away. A cozy family cottage with outdoor firepit, fireplace, lovely deck and boardwalk out to the beach. Check in and out was easy, great communication and accurate listing. Would definitely go again!

So many amazing things to say about this property! We stayed with our entire family, including our toddler. The location cannot be beat, you are steps from Lake Michigan while being a mile shy of downtown glen arbor. The house had spacious main areas such as kitchen, living room and the main bathroom. Plenty of room for our family of 8, and everything was super clean.
My only complaint is the mattresses could be upgraded, as they were not very comfortable in any room.
Like I said above, outstanding space and location. We loved our stay!!

The house was in a great spot relative to town and right on the water. House was nice, the bunk bed area was a separate from the rest of the house but that worked for us to give our in laws privacy. The appliances were also nice and the check out procedure was reasonable. We definitely will stay again if it’s available.

Clean place - but “aware” the 3rd bedroom is outside and has a separate enterance so the little ones may not work

Perfect relaxing spot. Don't really want to review this because I want it to stay a hidden gem that I can keep coming back to. Loved it!

You cannot ask for a better location. Lake Michigan is the backyard so we spent our days collecting beautiful stones on the beach, and our nights watching sunsets and roasting marshmallows on the deck. The house is a quirky cabin, but that was part of the charm. I hope we have the pleasure of staying again!

Just a perfect place on Lake Michigan. Comfy and quaint and right on the beach. Perfection! The property manager was very helpful and the cottage just felt like home. Amazing location and beach! Thank you.

My feelings are very mixed on this property. The location is absolutely fantastic, but the cottage/house is not. First, the positive - you might not be able to find many better locations. It's directly on the beach, looking over Lake Michigan and the Manitou Islands. The beach is similarly amazing, with a nice wood deck at the end of the wooden boardwalk. You can sit on the deck, while the kids play in the sand/water all day. If the weather is good, you're in luck.
Now, the not so good part - the cottage isn't great. It's listed as a 3-bedroom home, and (accurately) notes that the 3rd bedroom in downstairs (aka basement) with a separate, outdoor entrance. We thought that might be an ok spot for our 2 kids to sleep, until we saw the space. It's down a few dark steps and the door has a failing lockset (just like the doors in the main house). That's not the real problem. The problem is mold, a shocking amount of mold. When I pointed it out to the property manager, he thought it just had been "missed" by the cleaning crew, was caused by "humidity" and could just be "wiped" off the walls. I'll try to attach photos if allowed. It is not a suitable space for anyone to stay until remediated and the root caused repaired.
The main house/cottage is ok. The owner could make it so much better by spending just a few bucks (especially on failing lock sets - c'mon, spend $20 and get a working door handle/lock). It's also very cluttered with furniture, especially on what otherwise would be a very nice back sunroom (stuffed with garage sale recliners and a large 50's diner table). The bright spot is the kitchen, which is clean and functional. That said, the laundry is next to the kitchen, and there was a gas leak of some sort from the dryer (?). We asked the manager to handle it, but he didn't (he said that he tried but the repair person didn't show up). His communication wasn't prompt, which is bizarre for a problem like a possible gas leak.
Afterward, we again brought up our concerns with the manager, especially the mold (rendering 1 of 3 bedrooms unusable) and, after a few back/forth messages, he gave us a small refund. It was better than nothing, but not by much.
In short, if the weather is good, this place is great when you're outside. If the weather is bad, it could be rough. The cottage needs proper maintenance, repair and de-cluttering to make it fully habitable and worth the high price.

We had a wonderful stay the first week of October. The house is adorable and in a great location. Very convenient to town and the Heritage Trail. Our family would absolutely love to stay at this property on our next trip to Glen Arbor.

I’m afraid of writing too nice of a review to drive the popularity higher. This is our fifth trip to the area, fourth to glen arbor.
This place is a gem. The house is on a secluded street, plenty of room for our kids to bike and use their scooters without fear of traffic. We had the beach all to ourselves.
The house is cozy but there is plenty of room to have your own space.
I’d live in the sunroom if I could. Gorgeous view of the bay. Can hear the waves stumble onto the beach.
We easily biked to the dune climb from here.
Your money is well spent here. We can’t wait to come back.

Simply lovely
Great property. Perfectly up North beach cabin cottage. If you’re looking for a luxury beach property, this is not for you. It IS however, Updated in all the right places, very clean, very attendended to, and very comfortable. Perfectly small to foster together time, but all the rooms you need for full home use. Nice rustic touches combined with sparkly new kitchen.
The must haves:
new kitchen with everything you need, in clean excellent shape, perfectly positioned, and room for you to settle in with your groceries and gear.
Beach, beautiful! Not too close to be dangerous for small kids, and shallow walk in water. Great walkway, beach deck and fire pit. Shooting stars abound in the dark night sky.
Stars: everywhere
Nature: all around but not invasive. Perfect for us.
Bugs/rodents: NONE indoors. Almost unheard of in any level property. We’ve had ants in the last 8 homes we stayed in, at double the price and half.
The manager here is stellar.
The pros: views, location is walkable and bikeable to town. Short bike ride to trails.
Has a tub AND shower combo, a necessity if you have littles that only take baths.
The cons: we stayed with a 3, 5, and 8 yr old so my cons may not apply to you.
Some furniture (like the tv stand in the master bedroom is floating in the room and unsecured, made me nervous it could fall on the kids.
The deck has a bench lining it but not a railing, my kids did fine, but another young one could climb it and fall over. The drop isn’t deadly, just bushy and would definitely be a hospital trip for a toddler. The bunk room is a separate level with a separate entrance. Makes it a fun clubhouse, but young children won’t want to sleep there alone. The king bed gave us plenty of room for our toddler and us, and our other 2 happily shared the other bedroom’s full size bed. Plenty of room in the master bed for a pack n play or blow up bed.
We’ll be back often!!

A great place.
The house was really clean. A modern kitchen. Great views of Lake Michigan. We watched some freighters passing by and other boats fishing. The sandy beach was very nice, and water beautiful. Went for walks on the beach. Beds were very comfortable and all sleep well. The third bedroom and full bath are not accessible from the main floor, it has a separate access. We loved the location, near to Glen Arbor but away from the business. We enjoyed our stay there and would recommend this rental.

Location, location, location!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our week at this generously appointed cottage. It is both homey and up to date. Our family spends a week in Glen Arbor every summer but this is the first time we have rented on Lake Michigan; I cannot wait to return! You can tell that this cottage has been enjoyed and loved for many, many years by a family by the personal items left here and there, but you do not feel like you are staying in another person’s home at any time. We have rented other family cottages where you get the sense that you are intruding into their space, but that does not exist with this cottage. Our bed was comfy, I loved drinking my morning coffee on the “sleeping porch”, we played games around the large dining table (which could use some tightening), and the cottage is situated so that you get an unobstructed view of the entire Sleeping Bear Bay. I hope that our family can return to this cottage again next year, but I would love to add another week!

What A Place
We did a 3 day weekend with our adult children & mates - 6 total. And throughout the stay we kept saying the same thing: "What a place!." The cottage is well-constructed, of contemporary style yet feels rustic lake cottage like. Beds very comfortable. Front porch very nice with an awesome view of Lake Michigan and Manitou Islands plus we were blessed with 2 wonderful sunsets; 3rd night was foggy. We had a great time.
Only complaint -- the kitchen had no standard food staples such as we've experienced with other VRBO rentals and dishes were all mega sized; one cereal bowl could feed a family of 4.
Fairly priced lodging; comfortable; beautiful lake view and close to wineries and lots of fun shops & restaurants.
Do consider for your next stay in northern Michigan.

Beautiful Cottage. Beautiful view.
We have already reserved for next year! An amazing cottage on Lake MI with views of the water from every room - seriously! The Cottage has had a complete makeover and is wonderful. A sweet combination of original hardwood and knotty pine in the main living room, coupled with a brand new kitchen and bath. New furniture combined with some antiques and new antique-looking furniture make it so fun. Beautiful furnishings, tasteful decorating. For those who need it, a huge tv in the fam room plus another tv in the master.
Last but not least, a three season sunroom facing the water, a large upper deck in front of that also facing the water, plus a deck at the edge of the beach! Freighters passing through the Manitou Passage almost daily.

Great location very close to Glen Arbor and hiking and biking trails. Beautiful view of the bay and islands; great beach. Lovely, comfortable and well appointed cottage. We will definitely be back!

Good times in Michigan!
My wife and I and our friends had a great time on our first trip to NW Lower Michigan! This part of Michigan offers a lot to see and do. We barely scratched the surface in our week of vacation. A big part of the reason we had a wonderful time was the cottage. We picked it because of its location on the Lake Michigan shore. It presents a wide view of the lake, the Manitou Islands, and portions of the Glen Arbor shoreline. It is somewhat secluded by forest. It is cozy and comfortable. Best of all, it has a louvred-glass porch and an open deck that allow viewing the lake and its many faces regardless of weather conditions or time of day. On the warm, sunny days we were on the deck. When the weather changed to cooler and windy, we moved inside to watch the large waves breaking on the beach. Everything from morning coffee to afternoon refreshment to evening games was enhanced by these views. Aided by a new moon and clear skies, the views of the stars were spectacular! It's worth noting that a problem with the well was addressed quickly and efficiently by the property manager, Mr. Fisher. Our thanks to him. Recommended! Mark W. 10/6/2017

It was superlative - the 180 degree, unobstructed view of Lake Michigan,
The new galley kitchen, with Cambria countertops, was a joy to cook in, very well organized with everything we needed. The sun porch and the deck were where we spent every moment we could. We loved having a fire on the beach one night and roasting marshmallows. New wooden and tile floors were great. When we had guests two times, they stayed in the guest room on the main level but adopted the lower level bathroom. It was a bit like camping. The cottage could use new doors and more floor lamps for reading. It would be a challenge to undertake but it would be fantastic to add a bathroom on the main level and to have interior access to the lower level bedroom. Nonetheless, the cottage endeared itself to us and we will be lonesome for the Lake, the kaleidoscope of wind, sun, weather, sunrises, sunsets.

Good location, clean, nice updates.
Enjoyed the location between Glen Haven and downtown Glen Arbor. Very quiet and peaceful lot and street. The updates and decor are very appealing. The enclosed porch was a nice spot to read and enjoy the views early morning and evening. Kitchen is beautiful and had a good assortment of cookware. The deck off the house, decked walkway, and beach deck were all nice options for lounging and enjoying the sun. Beach is narrow and rocky but it's Lake Michigan and always changing. Sometimes more sand, other times more rocks :)
The bedrooms were all nice and comfortable. Just a reminder that the one bedroom has a separate entrance and is not accessible from the inside of the home. It was not a problem with our teenage children but if I had small kids, this wouldn't appeal to me. Beautiful couch and big flat screen TV sitting area. Had great weather and never turned the TV on though. Home was clean which is always important. Good supply of bath and hand towels. Appreciated the extra hooks to hang towels in the bath area. There is so much to do in this area. Beach, hiking, dunes, dining, sunsets, and many awesome towns just a short drive away. Lake Michigan vacations are always memorable!
