This two-level home sits just two miles north of downtown Durango, which you can easily reach on the Animas River bike path only three blocks away. You'll be only one block from Main Avenue, three blocks from Memorial Park on the riverfront, four blocks from the Animas Mountain Trailhead, and 25 miles south of the ski slopes of Purgatory Resort, where you'll have 94 trails, five terrain parks, and an always-entertaining tubing hill to choose from. Head 20 miles east to go boating, fishing, or cross-country skiing at Vallecito Lake, or take an unforgettable trip back through time in the incredible cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde National Park, just 37 miles west.
Whether vacationing with your family or enjoying a couples' getaway, the thoughtful furnishings, high ceilings, and bright rooms will make you feel at home. Throw some strawberries and bananas in the blender, sip a cup of coffee in the breakfast nook, and set the dining room table for breakfast in the light of the south-facing window.
Stack the plates in the dishwasher for easy cleanup, and head outside to enjoy the Southwest Colorado sunshine. Watch your children play tag in the expansive yard or get lost in a novel on the back deck. Come mealtime, you can flip burgers and hot dogs on the gas grill and gather for lunch around the patio table. As the day ends, throw your biking and hiking clothes in the private washer/dryer and sit on the front porch with a cold beer or a glass of wine. The kids can retreat to the den just off the dining room, where they'll find a comfortable couch and a second TV to watch a few family favorites.
The primary suite features a TV and an attached bathroom with a claw-foot tub and a hand-held showerhead.

Loved the updated house with ample seating, well-stocked kitchen, and comfortable bedrooms. Great internet, responsive hosts, and central location. Would stay again!

Property inside was very nice and maintained. A/C is only upstairs but kept us cool. Kitchen was updated and very nice. We enjoyed our stay.

We met family from out of state in Durango. Had the best time and really enjoyed this very cute spacious home as our base. The kitchen was fully equipped, we just brought our own food, grilled and enjoyed visiting on the deck. Although I had an issue getting in with the key pad, I called Vacasa and customer service was very helpful in getting me instructions on how to get in. Local Vacasa came to follow up to be sure we were able to get on. This morning when we were getting packed up to leave we had a surprise visit from four deer in the yard!!! Thanks for sharing your wonderful home with us!

We loved the house and how updated it was. One window unit a/c upstairs and plenty of fans in all the rooms kept us cool and comfortable all night (daytime highs 80's; nights low 60's). We opened windows downstairs in the evening for airflow. The upstair bathroom was a bit quirky with the slanted wall over the toilet but we managed and it worked. Internet was great; kitchen was well stocked (BYO coffee grounds); lots of seating around tables and in LR. Carpeted floors in LR for hanging out. Yard was a disappointment but everything else was great.

I must admit that my first impression was a little negative with uneven creaky floors and things like narrow steps going to the upstairs. Just things that are related to a true Victorian home. However all of this changed as we noted the comfort for our grandsons, nice bedrooms and linens; Upgraded bathrooms and kitchen with all necessary appliances, utensils, dishes, cookware and spices that were provided for our use. The top of the line washer and dryer helped so much after our adventures each day and games for the nightly family games all helped to make us more comfortable. If I were to come to Durango again, I would consider this home. Note: the property manager was very helpful with calls and questions.

Beautiful home, updated, responsive hosts. All bedrooms are on the top floor, just to keep that in mind. Other than that, great stay!!

This stay was a horrible experience. The house looked clean on check-in but after the first night, the house was inundated with bugs crawling all over the place in every single room of the house. They were crawling all over the guests as we slept. When this issue was brought to the management, the only solution offered was to send an exterminator out. When the exterminator called me, he explained that his chemicals would get all over all the guests belongings and the house would have to be aired out the entire day to remove the smell and he did not recommend doing that while we stayed there. No options of relocating to another property or a hotel were every offered. We had to stay in this house full of bugs the entire stay. Property manager of this place is rude and unaccommodating. Refused to offer any compensation or refund for this issue after multiple attempts. Finally after an entire week of arguing with them, their best offer was a measly 10%. They tried to play this issue off as a normal issue where occasional bugs/critters can be seen in the house. This was NOT a normal issue, this was an infestation. Now on to the other issues. This house has no central AC. It has 1 single window unit upstairs in a hallway cooling the entire house. To call this house as an air conditioned house is inaccurate at best. Second, this house lists 2 full bathrooms with showers. Only 1 is a traditional shower, the other is a sitting shower. I would NOT recommend this property at all!!

When you arrive you will be surprised by the neglect of the property. Trees are dead. Lawn is brown and covered in animal feces. Inside house was infested with bugs. Stains on carpet and peeling paint. We informed Vacasa the managment company and they sent over an exterminator while we were out of the house and sprayed the house filling it with chemicals. We promptly left and they acknowledged the issues with the property and gave us a refund.

The location was nice with mule deer wandering through the yard. The house was clean and well-cared for.

This was a great little house! It was very comfortable and close to everything in town! The bedrooms are all upstairs and it was a little warmer but fans were provided for use in each bedroom. I would definitely stay again!

This small house suited our needs very well in Durango and we had a good stay. It is in a very convenient location in relation to stores and restaurants being one short block from the main road going through town. It is about a mile drive to the old historic section of town. The grounds and deck could use some refreshment but the inside of the house was clean and functional. We knew about the fact that the one bathroom with a shower was downstairs and dealt easily with that. We didn’t focus on the fact that the one upstairs bathroom was connected to one of the bedrooms so if a person in one of the other 2 bedrooms needed to use the bathroom at night they needed to either go down the stairs or walk through the occupied bedroom. Not a showstopper for us but it could be an issue for some configurations of visitors. The TV service is very limited and we couldn’t even get the finals of the Stanley Cup. Overall I am prepared to highly recommend this house to users who are fully aware of its idiosyncrasies. We even had a long visit from a young male deer who spent most of one day on the property. The kids were very amused.

It was like staying at Grandma's house...funny odor right when you walk in probably because of the carpet. The beds are very soft and need to be updated. They could use a king bed in one bedroom. The one shower downstairs was a bummer. The kitchen was missing a tea kettle and whisk. Teh outdoor deck needs to be re stained or replaced entirely. The furniture was not very comfortable.

Overall great! The keypad only worked once, and we had to call for help to unlock the house but we received immediate assistance and this wasn’t a big issue. Beds, furniture, we’re new and comfortable. Would definitely rent again.

Cute place. Walking distance to city market, coffee and restaurants, which my group really liked. Check in and out was super easy. No complaints, would absolutely stay there again.

The house itself is cute and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked, and beds are comfortable. Interior decor is nice. Wi Fi and TV were good. However; don’t let the pictures of the exterior fool you. There is no lawn; just dirt and weeds, and dog poop. The dog poop was especially a problem because when we arrived, the front door key that was supposed to be in the lock box was not there, so we had to navigate around the poop to the back door. The missing key left us a little concerned about security and safety. While not having the key was pretty irritating, the worst part was the Vacasa staff on the other end of the phone/computer who made stuff up to try to convince me I was the problem including: (1) “there is no key to this house, it has an electronic keypad.” Wrong - I had to text a picture of the lock boxes that hold the keys (not a keypad) and the back door key. (2) then they said “The listing for this house only mentions back door access” This is again incorrect. We did get a replacement key late the next day, but it did not work very well (I guess because it was new). It took several minutes of struggling to lock or unlock the door every time we left or returned. Hopefully, it will loosen up for the next group. The back patio had a lot of potential, but also needs some maintenance. There was a lack of detail from the cleaners as well - Triscuit on bedroom floor, dirty washcloth (not just stained, but clearly dirty and unwashed), spiders and cobwebs in corners and window sills.

cute house however. design not well though out. master bath designed for short people. shower wand will seemingly turn itself on. Kitchen has no counter space and made for tall people. no air flow. hot upstairs.

This home was perfect for our family vacation. We had four adults and a toddler, and there was plenty of room! The home looks exactly as it does in pictures and is spacious! It is a Victorian, so the kitchen and bathrooms can feel a bit small but it wasn’t an issue for our family. The location was fabulous, and it’s FULLY stocked! Great cookware, lots of games, multiple fans to keep cool in the summer, a grill, lots of seating, and more! I appreciated how simple check-in and check-out were.

We were very comfortable in this property. I do wish that the upstairs bathroom was accessible to all bedrooms on the second floor. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Easy to get around town
It was a great location to get to all parts of Durango in minutes. Only one bathroom is a true shower if you’re entire clan are shower people. All beds were very comfortable!

Great home for 10 days!
House was perfect for us & parents. It doesn't look big on the outside, but loads of room for spreading out, inside. Great family/TV room and even has a 2nd TV room/office which worked out great for our "WFH" situation during COVID. Kitchen has new stainless appliances and upgraded cookware. It honestly lacked for nothing. Great mudroom/laundry room and new grill out back on the patio. Even had a couple of mule deer visit us out there. The main bathroom is downstairs where the only shower is. There are hooks everywhere to hang towels (usually my main complaint is there aren't enough hooks/towel racks). Take note that the upstairs bathroom is IN the master bedroom, so those no sleeping in the master have to go downstairs at night. Great neighborhood just of the main drag. Coffee & groceries a 5 minute walk. We slept with windows open at night - very quiet neighborhood. If we go back to Durango, we will definitely stay there!

Great Place in Durango
This was a great place to stay in Durango, absolutely lovely. Perfect location, beautiful house, we would definitely stay there again. Two caveats - the air conditioning is only upstairs in the landing (not in any of the bedrooms), and there isn't cable TV. Neither were an issue, but something to be aware of. Thank you for allowing our family to stay in your beautiful home.

Great Location
This is a beautiful home full of quirky charm. A bit of an oddly laid out kitchen (the fridge door should open the other way), but well appointed with everything you'll need for a comfortable stay. Comfy furnishings, good sized bedrooms with all the amenities of home, and a large dining table for everyone to gather for dinner or games. One shower for our group of five wasn't the most convenient, but it didn't cause too much hassle either. The clawfoot tub upstairs I'm sure is relaxing, but we didn't use it on our stay, and the toilet upstairs is not for tall people (the roof pitch is very steep over it). Great location in town with restaurants, groceries, and a liquor store all within easy walking distance. The river is close by as well, and access to Purgatory Resort was easy for our group of snowboarders. Downtown is right down the road, as well as other restaurants and shops on the way. We loved our stay, and this was a beautiful and well appointed house to call our home for a fantastic snowboard weekend.

CAUTION! The listing is extremely misleading and deceiving. Neither VRBO nor VACASA will take responsibility for the misleading and deceiving listing. After my family drove for 20 hours from South East Texas to Durango we were excited to check-in to our rental and start our vacation. Unfortunately, this would not be the case. We arrived at the house only to find that the photos and listing description were vastly different from what was actually there. We found dirty towels and trash all around the house. Found large nails sticking up from the floor boards creating a tripping hazard (which both my wife and I tripped and fell on). Tried to turn on the air conditioner only to find out an hour later that the house doesn't actually have air conditioning and that the thermostat doesn't control A/C. The kitchen was dirty with dirty dishes in the sink and dirty towels around the space. It looked like it was never cleaned prior to our arrival. When I called Dave Sugnet (local Vacasa manager), he never answered the phone and only responded to my text the next day at 4:30 in the morning. I had already been in contact with his "backup" person Rhyler who originally said he would come over and fix the problems, but he never showed up. Instead just sent me a text saying that "it's the way it is". There is a small air conditioning window unit on the upstairs landing, but not in any of the bedrooms. The bedrooms were hot and muggy. Stickers are on the windows instructing renters to NOT OPEN THE WINDOWS, so along with the lack of air conditioning, we couldn't even open the windows to get some fresh air in. The beds in the bedrooms were broken and uncomfortable. Sheets and blankets had stains all over them. That was about all we could handle and I called VRBO and VACASA customer support. Both teams told me that we would not be held responsible for the charges if we left the property, which we did. Moved to a Hilton property for the week. Two days later, I received an email from Mike Wilk who is the Senior General Manager for the Southwest Colorado district saying that they would refund the cleaning fee only and that we would be responsible for the full stay. He tried to sympathize with me saying he himself has been on the receiving end of a bad vacation rental, but at the end of the day they would not refund the money. I filed a dispute with my bank and they are fighting it as are we. CAUTION with this property! BE AWARE!

Cute place in town in Durango
The house itself is a cute, restored Victorian, complete with Victorian quirk! The claw foot tub in the bathroom is great! The kitchen is well-appointed; we didn't cook, but didn't lack anything for our take out meals.
The outside of the house (yard and exterior) need some attention; there are a lot of cobwebs and chipped paint. Also, the TV is on the very basic cable program, so very limited viewing (we could only get PBS reliably)
The neighborhood is cute, and you can walk to some restaurants and coffee shops. We had a good visit!
