Robbinsville is a place we visit regularly. We have family in the area and attend Decoration Day. Everything about this listing is accurate, especially the peaceful and secluded setting. Staying at Jimbo's was a delight.

Great old farmhouse on a wonderful property. The pond was superb, with lots of room to explore. Jim was very responsive. Lots of birds and wildlife, minutes from downtown (grocery store, etc.). We used Jimbo's as a base for fishing in the various surrounding lakes.

Great get away.
The property is what is advertised. It is a 100 plus year old farm house that has been renovated. Huge kitchen table, dated fixtures, soft floor in spots, but clean.
I’m 63 years old and it reminded me of my Grandmother’s house.
It rained a good bit during our stay. The front porch was perfectly situated for sitting back and enjoying the rain.
We felt comfortable at Jimbo’s farm and will likely return.
Don’t expect 5 star amenities and valet parking, expect a more true country mountain experience and you will be pleased.

Spent the days relaxing and fishing! The porch was cool and comfortable, and the property peaceful.
Great week. Enough to do from ages 3-70. Toddler played in the creek and older ones fished/hiked. So peaceful, and restful.

Wonderful stay
My family enjoyed our time here. The fishing pond was a huge hit with my 11 yr old son. The moon happened to be full and there was an absolutely beautiful view from the front porch, reflecting on the pond. So relaxing, which was just what I needed. Earlier in the evening the lightning bugs were out. Blueberries were ripe for picking and we all enjoyed that too. This is a very beautiful area to explore. We would love to go back again sometime.

Perfect Quarantine Vacation
We really enjoyed our trip to Jimbo’s Farm. The house was old and a bit outdated but we knew that from the advertising. It was clean and met our needs. The property was lovely. We caught lots of fish and even had grilled trout for dinner one evening. We hiked the trails and enjoyed the mountain weather. It was the perfect place for an escape from quarantine.

Wonderful mountain cabin
Our family loved our week-long stay at Jimbo’s Farm. The cabin is charming with all the basics covered and the property is beautiful. We had a great time fishing in the pond and feeding the fish and enjoyed playing pool in the game room. The location is convenient to hiking, rafting, tubing and all the essential mountain activities. Jimbo was available if we needed him and checked in with us during our stay.

First family vacation
We took our first family vacation to Jimbo's farm. We went with 3 kids and a puppy. The property is very big and tons of room for the kids and the dog to run around. Jimbo made us feel welcome and the property was a great escape from reality. Beautiful views and great country living was just what we needed.

Stay at Jimbos farm
Our stay was nice and kids enjoyed the pond. However for the price for renting I would have expected it be cleaner. The bed linens were not fresh nor were the bathroom towels. The dishes weren't clean and we had to wash before being used. The kids were disappointed to find there was no pool table as read online. Due to the small house outside being unkept we did not use it for sleeping only to wash clothes. I understand it's an old house and will have somewhat a smell but the bathroom was absolutely ridiculous with urine odor. Just very disappointed as I rented this for my daughter and her family and I to have a nice vacation weekend. We made the best of our trip and still enjoyed spending time together.

Amazing Fly fishing, Birding, and Hiking
What an amazing cabin. My kids age 11 and 13 had a blast fishing in the pond. There are tons of trails and waters to fly fish or drop a worm. My old bird dog loved it!! Plenty of room to run and run and run. Tons of birds to be on the look out for as well.

Beautiful, quiet, peaceful, all the things you'd look for in a mountain cabin.
Had a great time at Jumbo's Farm. The property is beautiful and while there are neighbors close by we never saw or heard anyone else. Had a lot of fun sitting around the outdoor fire pit and grilling. Fed the fish twice a day but didn't have much luck catching any (blame the fisherman). Had some heavy rain the day we arrived so didn't do too much trail exploring. The master bed is the absolute most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.

The property is amazing! Great fishing and beautiful views. The house is comfy the furniture could use a little updating but to be honest we spent most of our time outdoors. We'll definitely be coming back

Very nice
Overall good expiernce . Convenient to our areas of interest . Night there was beautiful with the sounds of owls calling by the light of the moon. Daytime a little noisy with neighbor sawing wood, but since we spent most days sightseeing, this would not stop me from booking again. Town was close enough to get supplies, and Jim checked in and was a great host.

Beautiful property!
This was a perfect place for 6 people and 4 dogs to experience the total eclipse in August! The house was very charming. It was very musty smelling but that was all disclosed to us when we booked it. If you have allergies, beware! We were completely alone in the middle of the woods, enjoyed the eclipse on the grass then jumped in the pond afterwards. We even had our standup paddle boards and kayak out on it! We went hiking on the AT at nearby Stecoah Gap and went to the trails atTsali recreation area to mountain bike and paddleboard in the lake. We couldn't have asked for a better time! Thank you for all your emails and responsiveness, Jimbo - you were great to work with and I highly recommend this rental to anyone!

Very Nice
We enjoyed the house and the property and jumbos communications were excellent. The property was a little more dated and rustic than we had anticipated.

The worst thing about this vacation was I had to leave!
This quiet little town has a lot to offer, with bluegrass music, Scenic views, and lots of good local restaurants. Jimbo's place is the best!

Perfection
This was our second year visiting Jimbos farm. We have decided to make it an annual thing. Our first was only for a few days. This past trip (June 2017) for a week and still did not seem like long enough. Definitely try tubing the rapids in Cherokee! See you next year Jimbo. Already counting down the days

I took my family of 6, and our dog to the farm for a week. This was exactly the vacation that we needed! Away from the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives. We slowcooked a roast while we fished and laid around in the hammocks. We have 2 teenagers so it was great getting to spend quality time with them playing crochet in the yard! And WITHOUT their cellphones! I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who's looking to relax the right way! Thanks Jimbo!

Hi Jimbo! Thank you for providing such a perfect place to take a real vacation - I couldn't have asked for anything more! The house is very clean and inviting - I love the two fireplaces and the beautiful furniture! The farm house has such great character both inside and out and I felt so comfortable and relaxed while I was there. The land is so beautifully manicured - It is amazing for such a large property! I enjoyed feeding the fish in the beautiful lake and sitting on the wooden swing to watch the sunset. I can make one trip into town to buy groceries and then stay on the property for an entire week without leaving! The hiking trails are amazing and the views from everywhere on your property are the best ever! I appreciate that you check in on us to ensure that everything is OK. I will recommend this perfect vacation spot to everyone I know- It doesn't get better than Jimbo's Farm! Kathi and Nica

Jim, I wanted to let you know what a terrific time we had at your place last week. It was exactly what the description stated it would be. The dogs had as much fun as we did in fact it took them a couple of days to recover after we returned home. We took advantage of several local activities while we were there including the Zip Line in Andrews, rafted the Nantahala, rented a pontoon boat at Fontana and took the dogs with us, walked on the A.T. and went mountain bike riding at Tsali. All those were great but we really enjoyed waking up to the view of the pond with the mountains in the background, sitting on the various porches, sitting around the fire at night, shooting our guns (not excessively) and my youngest son really enjoyed fishing and feeding the fish especially the huge carp. We kept 2 trout and enjoyed them for dinner one night. We did not see the fish feed initially so we bought a bag at the feed store. Later we found the bag in the trash can in the other house.
We will definetly consider your place in the future for time away from home.
It was a full week that my family will always remember.
Thanks again for allowing us to bring the dogs.

We don't want to brag too much on how wonderful our stay was for fear the place will be so booked we can't get it for ourselves when we want it. To quote my 30 year old son, " Mom, this place is perfect." This said while we were finishing an entire day spent under a huge tree by the pond's dock, picnicking, lounging, fishing, floating and sundry shenanigans. It's our kind of place and Jimbo took really good care of us.

We just departed Jimbo's Farm after a week stay. The house property and its surroundings are amazingly beautiful. We loved sitting outside by the pond, feeding/catching fish, b-b-quing, and star gazing at night. The house is very old but we'll maintained and has your basic needs, but bring your own iron. The owner is extremely helpful and available for any questions and/or concerns.
The only reason I don't give this rental a 5 star review is due to the lack of cleaning inside the house. We spotted dust and spider webs throughout the living room, kitchen, and bedrooms. The rugs throughout the house are old and dirty. The knobs on stove are greasy and dirty. I could tell that the bed quilts/sheets were not washed prior to our arrival (they were stained and yellow from lack of washing). I had to wash them myself n noticed the difference after wash. It's a very old house so expect a bit of an old damp smell to it. Maybe cleaning lady did not have to time to clean/wash/dust prior to our arrival. Shower and bathroom were clean inside the house.
I would still recommend this location due to the beautiful scenery, attractions in the area, and helpful owner.

My family and I stayed at Jimbo's Farm this past weekend (3 nights) We all had a great time. We went there fearing the weather, as it was supposed to rain every day we were to be there.. The rain did come, but nothing like we had expected. We had plenty of sunshine to have tons of fun. My personal favorite was the pond.. Feeding the fish, and catching plenty as well. The house itself is fairly simple and rustic, but it still has everything most anyone would need. It's also located just a short drive to plenty of fun attractions in the area. I have no complaints about anything during our stay, and my family have already decided that we would love to go back when we can.
Big thanks to Jim for everything, and to Carolyn for the clean house when we arrived! Hope to visit again soon!

We truly enjoyed our stay at Jimbo's Farm. Jimbo called the morning after our arrival to check on us and to let us know to call him if we needed anything. The location was perfect for lots of family time. My husband and son caught trout each day out of the pond. My son caught seven on the second day of our trip. They are all around 14-16 inches long, so they were fun to catch. We released all but one of them, it was injured during the catch. The younger kids can enjoy catching the large shad in the pond since they are very easy to catch and many are around 6 inches. We hiked the trails behind the house and enjoyed the beautiful fall scenery. Our dog loved the open yard and freedom to run. He also enjoyed relaxing on the dock in the sun. We drove to Bryson City and took the train ride into the Nantahala Gorge and enjoyed a picnic lunch on our break. If you are looking for a wonderful place to relax and just enjoy nature this is definitely the place for you. The house is rustic. There are only a couple of things I would recommend changing; the bathroom could use a little work and the house could use a good dusting of the higher items. Some of the tiles in the shower are cracked/broken and there was some mold. We enjoyed roasting hot dogs in the fire pit. It was fun gathering our own wood for the fire pit from around the property. We also burned the potbelly stove and enjoyed the warmth of the fire on the cool fall mornings. The spring water from the faucet tastes so great! This would make a perfect place for a photo shoot. We will likely be visiting again next fall so we can check out the whitewater rafting on the Nantahala River. Thank you, Jimbo, for a wonderful week!

JImbo, thank you for the most wonderful vacation I have ever experienced! The house was warm and inviting and had all of the amenities that one could ask for. The breathtaking property was a joy to explore – I only left once to go to the grocery store and to Joyce Kilmer. I could not have asked for a more perfect place to get away from the hectic city life! I have referred two friends to you who are interested in coming next spring or summer. I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to rent your amazing property – I look forward to coming back next year!! Happy Holidays! Kathi P.

I am a control freak planner. This vacation was a departure for me. When we were driving to Jimbo's Farm July 9th, 2011 for a week long vacation with our two dogs, I had a plan in mind. When we turned down the lane and made our descent to this idyllic hidden home, those plans went out the window and I started one of the best vacations of my life.
The home is 110 years old, so with that, we had no central air conditioning, and a heat wave. The only other area of improvement I would note is that during rainy days, there isn't "cozy" furniture to relax on. The couch has seen it's finest day.
The property is the plus! Diverse property. Nice, big cleared space, the pond or lake where we fed fish every day. Fruit trees that should be ready soon! I saw peaches, but they were still developing! Trails through the property to go on your own, secluded hikes. The best tap water I have ever had, feeding from the Springs. Amazing and not something I was bargaining for.
Our dogs rediscovered themselves after living in concrete covered Orlando. We used the fire pit and grill every night. We caught fireflies, or lightning bugs depending on where you are from.
This home could easily sleep 6 in the main house and 2 in the outbuilding that has the washer and dryer in it. There is one bathroom in the house, which is all we needed. But there was an additional, "rustic" with plumbing bath in the out building as well if you brought a big family.
I read books in the hammock every afternoon! I haven't read books in years! I missed having internet access, not for recreation, but for checking out local sights and getting directions. The internet at McDonald's was at times slow and I felt I needed to purchase gross food there to use it without being rude.
Amazing retreat. I would recommend for anyone looking for an environment condusive for quality time, nature appreciation without "frills".
