About this house rental
The Hideaway has been welcoming visitors looking to 'spread out' and relax on their vacation to this quaint town for years.
Our home was built in the 1800's and has stood the test of time and brings repeat visitors back year after year. We're located in a quiet peaceful neighborhood just 2 1/2 blocks from Ludington Avenue (the main street of Ludington) and just five blocks from the marina, lighthouse and large public beach that makes Ludington famous.
With its large size our home is great for large and extended families or friends looking to get together. Need a smaller unit? Contact us for details on renting just the upper or lower unit. We'll be happy to talk to you and explain these options.
Downstairs features lots of room with three bedrooms (king, queen, double), a spacious living room, formal dining room, large kitchen, laundry room and bath making it perfect for families, extended families or groups of friends.
The upper level consists of an eat-in kitchen, living room, bath, king bed in the master bedroom and a second bedroom attached to the master that consists of four singles beds and room for sleeping bags or air mattresses. This is perfect for couples, couples with small kids, or friends looking for an affordable way to enjoy Ludington.
Each year, visitors leave comments about their stay in a book for them to leave their memories. One thing is certainly true: the saddest part of the trip is when it is time to go. They love their stay in our home and enjoy the many wonderful options that are in walking distance to them: downtown and its shops, restaurants, bars and antique stores, the public beach, the lighthouse, and marina. Visiting the State Park is a seven mile beautiful bike ride with the water on one side and sand dunes on the other.
With an ice cream store and downtown in walking distance, kids love the ability to seek-out adventures or a scoop of ice cream on their own.
Each morning and evening, you'll hear the Badger car ferry sound its horn and if there is a bit of fog in the early morning or late at night, you'll listen to the sound of a lighthouse letting ships know where it sits.
We hope you'll enjoy your vacation in about as relaxing a place as we believe you'll find anywhere.
Sincerely,
Mike, Maureen and our children Michael, Matt & Kevin

Clean with plenty of space and great location for the whole family to stay. We enjoyed the beach, House of Flavors, the State Park and downtown shopping while attending a family reunion in the Ludington area. We will choose the same venue in years to come.

This house had everything we needed for a great family vacation in Ludington! It is an older house, but there have been some updates (remodeled bathroom and kitchen and the bedrooms are in good shape). The only improvement we would suggest is some new living room furniture. It was very worn and uncomfortable to the point that it was difficult for my elderly mother to get in and out of it. Other than that, the house was well stocked, clean and had everything we needed. The location was also great. It was a quick walk or drive to the beach, restaurants and downtown Ludington.

We rented this home for multiple family members to stay during my oldest son’s wedding. It was clean and well maintained, and when we had a plumbing issue, the maintenance matter was resolved quickly. The only downside was that the building—upstairs and the main floor—were hard to keep cool in the hot, humid weather. The air conditioners had trouble keeping up. But all-in-all, a pleasant stay.

Home has lots of space in a great location. Our group was able to walk to all relevant points of interest and there were no issues with check in/out. Property was as described and a delight.

We really enjoyed our stay here! The house was clean and neighborhood was quiet and very close to the beach and downtown area. It was great!

Beautiful house. We went for the earth day events. We wanted to grill out one night but the grill was rusted and burner falling in the back. That was the only disappointment. Ludington is a beautiful town.

We were looking for a quiet place to stay for the weekend. This home is very comfortable & had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The lake/beach is only a few blocks away and we enjoyed watching the waves come in (too cold to actually enjoy the water). Thank for your hospitality!

We held a weekend retreat at this house and it was great for group gathering and separate times. Well stocked with kitchen supplies, bath stuff and towels. Very clean throughout the home upon check-in. Close to the beach and state park, this house would be ideal for a friends or family summer vacation too.

3 short blocks to the downtown area 4 to the beach. Very nice house owner is very kind. Over all great experience.

The house was wonderful! The cleanliness was spot on and the beds were actually comfortable. Great location close to downtown and the beach, but not so close to have a lot of traffic. We will definitely make this our first choice when staying in Ludington.

Property just as described. Host was very responsive.

This is an older home but very well done and SPOTLESS! Plenty of room, and very well stocked. We loved the back patio. Seating for 10 and pretty lighting. The kids loved the bunk bed and the upstairs “fairy room” as our granddaughter called it. Super comfortable. Obviously great location. This is the perfect house for a family or friend gathering!

Location is convenient to restaurants in town and a half mile walk to lighthouse. Rental mattresses are OK-several could use replacement. Kitchen has plenty of dishes and utensils, but no wine glasses.

Great place to stay. Within easy walking distance of downtown. Thanks for making this property available.

Great value for the price. Plenty of room for our family. The house did smell musty in a historic house kind of way and allergens were high. I could only spend a few minutes at a time inside. The yard was lovely and a perfect place to relax in. The bed in the front bedroom was comfortable in a worn-in kind of way, but the queen bed in the next room was all springs.
Note that amenities like coffee and shampoo are not supplied. Definitely not a deal breaker, but worth knowing.
Location was perfect! Thank you for a lovely stay!

Our family really enjoyed our stay here! We had a 3 year old and it worked well for young kids, plus grandparents. We loved that we could walk downtown and to the beach right from our house, the not needing to drive everywhere was awesome. Owner was super easy to reach and made our stay really great. We would definitely recommend!

We loved the cute house with plenty of beds, towels and space! We try to get kids and grandkids together and this provided a perfect place! Whole house is renovated except for upstairs bathroom which could use a little
TLC. Great location! We already rebooked for next year

Just a quick weekend stay for my wife and I. The house was far bigger than we needed, but that’s a good thing. The house is walking distance to all the downtown restaurants and shops. A quick drive to the State Park and Jack Pine campground and your on the trail to Big Sable lighthouse. If you haven’t made that hike, you should. Easy hiking with a bit more difficulty if you include the shipwreck. The patio was set up for hanging out and there was a variety of board games available. The main floor shower is beautiful and the updates are nice. Mike was good to work with through the booking process.

Ringing in the new year with 10 friends from high school!! Lots of room and good location.
Mike is great to work with and the stay went off without a hitch!

The house was very clean and well maintained for its age. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and utensils. There were plenty of towels and blankets available. The location is walking distance to downtown and the waterfront. It is an old home with steep stairs to the upper level and deep tubs. This wasn't an issue for our group, but may be for someone with mobility issues.

Very much enjoyed our stay. We had family in for a wedding so it just made more sense to get a big place than hotel rooms! Only bummer is that the online it said 2 kings and one Queen/full and then the rest were twin. This was true however the Queen/full was so hard that no one could sleep on it. There were more than enough twin beds but then we had to split up some spouses. Other than that, the place was great for the price Clean, nice big open kitchen.

This old Victorian home was such a beautiful time piece of memories! We enjoyed the character of this home and all of the uniqueness it holds❤️

The house was clean with well equipped kitchen. A few more small bowls for nuts or cereal would be helpful, plus noting there is NO ice maker! Being an older building, it has many quirky things. Parking is in the back with surfaces being wet/muddy and uneven, plus awkward entrances. Granted our group consisted of 5 women 75+ years olds, so navigating up and down stairs inside and out, one needed to be mindful. The mattress in the bedroom off the living room area could stand being replaced. It was loud and crunchy sounding, like made from straw. All the appliances worked well and I certainly appreciated the promptness of communication with the owner! Probably better suited for younger people.

The house is in the best location of Ludington. It is in the center of town with quite neighborhood. The house is quite old but the host keep it quite clean. The only point should be considered is they don't have a central AC so it might be a little hot in the summer upstairs. But we are fine because our vacation is in Fall.

We so enjoyed our week at the Hideaway! This spacious property is clean and well-kept with two fully-stocked kitchens, a working washer and dryer (which we used a lot!), comfy furnishings, plentiful beds, air-conditioned bedrooms, and that historical charm that only a 140-year-old home can offer. Our kids loved exploring the place and playing hide and seek in the many rooms and plentiful hiding places. The location gave us quick access to the local restaurants, playgrounds, and a mere 20-minute drive to Ludington State Park. The owners are responsive and helpful to boot. We'd highly recommend this house if you're looking for a place to spend your vacation!

Could of had central air but worked around it. Over all had a great time and enjoyed the property

Generally ok. Could ise some refurbishing especially upstairs

Very pleased with the property and the property manager. The price was not terrible. Location of house was on a very nice street. If it had a covered patio, it would have been perfect.

We had a great time in Ludington with our adult children! We find it so hard to all get together at the same time and meeting centrally here worked great! House was clean and had everything we needed In the kitchen! Only thing I wished I would have packed was a scissors to cut the bacon open and a serrated bread knife as we had fresh bread to cut, and it may have been there I just didn’t see it! 😂. There were Lots of towels in the bathrooms! We rented both halves of the house and the upstairs was a quaint little apartment with the extra beds we needed. It is a short distance from the downtown area, easily walkable. Would stay here again! A++++. Thanks so much for sharing your home with us!

We stayed at The Hideaway for a wedding in Ludington. The property was clean, well stocked and was located close to downtown restaurants, shops, the Pier Lighthouse, and the wedding venue. Comfy beds, old victorian house with lots of character, and a wonderful staff to work with- We thoroughly enjoyed this rental!

My friends and family came into Ludington for a wedding and the Hideaway was a perfect place to house a larger group. The location was fantastic with it being a short walk to downtown and the beach. I would highly recommend staying here.

Lack of air conditioning..... hot inside and uncomfortable. Portable AC unit in bedroom (only AC unit in entire downstairs) extremely loud.
Inside needs updating and some TLC. Kitchen was the only room updated in this house. Matresses should be replaced.
Glad we did not have to use the upstairs.
