This ideally located vacation home puts you right in the middle of all of these activities, and is just a short distance from fantastic beaches and the Block Island Ferry. Our antique home features beautiful period details and funky casual decor with a generally laid back, creative vibe. Plenty of off street parking, rear patio, front porch, and outdoor shower. Other nearby activities include the town library, bowling alley, tennis courts, skate park, Whalers Brewery, Pumphouse Music Works, indoor climbing gym, and more. This home is best for those looking for a simple, relaxing, unfussy, fun, rustic cottage-y vacation spot.

We just spent a week at Sharon Cottage and had a very nice time for the most part. The house is spacious and comfortable and is situated on a lovely, quiet street. We appreciated the proximity to beaches, the bike path, and the short walk to town, where there is an abundance of wonderful restaurants and cute shops. The living areas of the house, especially the dining room and living room, are charming and comfortable. The upstairs bathroom is particularly large and functional, with plenty of counter space. One major disappointment we experienced is that it became immediately clear that the photos in the listing seem like they were taken several years ago and the house is ready for some updating. The exterior paint is peeling badly, and the aging outdoor furniture is the low point of an otherwise beautiful setting. If the backyard had new or otherwise clean and stylish furniture, we would have spent much more time out there. We also had to spend a good part of our time dealing with ants in the kitchen and insects in other areas of the house as well as the outdoor trash bins. We were able to go with the flow and had a generally great week, but we recommend that the owner address some areas of the house that need attention, updating and freshening up.

The home was amazing with its 70s decor. Kept finding interesting pieces all over the house. Enjoyed coffee on the front porch every morning. The home was centrally situated to beach and downtown. We had a great time and hated to leave.

Cute older home in a very nice and quiet neighborhood. Everything you want to see is close by. The owner is very nice and replys quickly to emails. We all really enjoyed our time in RI!

Wonderful stay within walking distance of shops and restaurants and with a short drive of everything we wanted to get to. Highly recommend!

We left Wakefield with so many happy memories from the bike path to the front porch to walking to Brickleys for ice cream or soco baking company. Charming, relaxed vacation spot with everything you need to unwind and take a break from it all!

Loved the artsy eclectic home with a beachy and hippie flair. Everything was as expected and Courtney was very responsive. Plenty of comfortable seating and places to hang out. The beds were comfortable. Awesome to have a full kitchen and a porch to relax on in the backyard is private. One thing I would mention for people who are challenged going up and down stairs. The staircase to the second floor is pretty steep, and the banister is low. Just something to be aware of. Wonderful place to stay for our vacation. The bike path can get you right to Narragansett town beach in 15 minutes and you can walk a couple blocks to shops and restaurants in Wakefield.

Great house and location! Had everything we needed. Reminded me of my Great Aunts and it felt good staying there

I was interested in a mini vacation with my daughter, SIL and my nine month old granddaughter; it was a last minute trip. I saw this property on VRBO’s website and submitted a request for the dates I was interested in staying at the property. The property was available for the dates I requested (for the following week of my inquiry) so I was more than overjoyed that we were able to have the mini vacation. The property was exactly as pictured on the website; eclectic, artsy, a fun place to relax after a day at the beach. It was just a minute walk to the Main Street where there were many places to go in and browse for unique items, antiques, jewelry, clothing, places to eat, etc. Scarborough Beach was just ten minutes away from this property. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time staying here and will definitely come back. The only thing we did not enjoy was the outside shower; there were several spiders in their webs in that shower so we passed on using it. We did not want to disturb the spiders.

A beautiful house in a great location. We’ve had 3 vacations here over the years and I highly recommend it.

Boho comfort
We had a great stay here. Several comfortable nooks. Lots of little treasures to discover both about the home and the town. And 10 mins from the beach.

Great location!
Property was quaint and comfortable. It had so much personality one couldn’t keep there eyes off the vintage beauty. Fun!!! Short walk to restaurants and a 10 minute drive to the beach. Couldn’t ask for more.

We had a good time and used up all the bedrooms with our family of 6. We were thankful for the newly installed AC units in two of the bedrooms. The location is fantastic as we headed into Newport 3 separate days and took the ferry from Point Judith to Block Island one day.

summer vacation
Great style, fun location right on the bike path and close to a few fun ice cream places, near-ish to the beach. However, the week we were there was super hot and there is no air conditioning available, which we knew going in, but is a good thing to keep in mind. If you are sensitive to heat/humidity, just be aware that it will be toasty. Also, it could have been more thoroughly cleaned before we arrived.

Wakefield House
I really enjoyed our stay in the house. We arrived on a Thursday night and the house was only a short walk into town where they had food and live music, it was a great place to walk around. The house itself if nice: decorated with beautiful artwork, plenty of places to hang out both downstairs and in the backyard, fire pit, outdoor shower etc. The house is in a good location, it’s close to Narragansett and Scarborough beaches and not too far from Newport. The owner Courtney got back to me fast and was a pleasure to work with. I definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting Rhode Island.

Charming and artfully decorated
The house was perfect for 5-6 adults. The upstairs bathroom is spacious and has a large counter. The kitchen half opens into the dining area which is very nice and perfect for breakfast. Most of our dinners were done on the grill and afterward we would sit around the firepit. The house is nicely decorated. The art is charming— it has a great New England/70’s charm. There is no air conditioning, and although there was a bit of a heatwave while we were there, the numerous fans are helpful.

Great place to use for Newport trips
This was a great house to use for day trips to Newport. It took about 25 minutes to get to Newport, but this was a much less expensive option than staying there during summer months. Wakefield is a nice little town that we enjoyed during the evenings. The housewas was as advertised on the listing and would recommend it to friends.

Charming, comfortable home in a prime location
We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay during our 4th of July holiday weekend. The house was picture perfect with a great yard including a grill, fire pit, outdoor shower and a pair of beautiful outdoor siting areas. Perhaps best of all, the home is located in the middle of everything you could want on vacation: walking distance to great ice cream, diners for breakfast, a soda fountain, gift shops, a bike path, parks and more. And just a short drive away, there's groceries, the beach and even a brewery.
A wonderful place in a wonderful town.

Charming home. Great location!
This was the perfect place to stay for our family of 4 on our week vacation. This beautiful house is centrally located in a lovely neighborhood, walking distance to everything in the adorable town. We rented bikes from Stedman’s 2 blocks away and rode the gorgeous bike path. There are so many beaches to choose from off route 1, we recommend Blue Shutters beach, clear, gorgeous, not crowded, easy parking but get there in time to get a spot, lots are smaller than state beaches that’s why not too crowded.
The kitchen was fully stocked for cooking, the backyard was peaceful and private. I love an outdoor shower and this one was great. Courtney was very responsive and helpful with tips about the area and the house.
The kitty visiting from next door made is feel at home! This is truly a special place and a gorgeous area of RI. We highly recommend it
