The home is tastefully decorated with a Civil War theme, with pictures of Sion and his men. This is in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne, with a Starbucks in our backyard, numerous dining options in the vicinity, and activities in all directions. Guest access: Enjoy the common sitting/main gathering room on the main floor. We provide snacks, and a large refrigerator on the main floor for our guests to use. Free parking is provided on site right behind the building. Garbage cans are located behind 517 West Washington next door for you to put your trash in as needed. Guest interaction: Our family lives just blocks away, and loves all downtown has to offer. We stop in once a day to check the snacks and beverages. I am always available via the App messaging platform, and can be on property in minutes. Neighborhood overview: West Central downtown is a magical space where people with souls reside. Sure, you can grab a tan cookie-cutter spot out in the burbs and care about the lawn, but why would you? This is where history, art, and friends meet. The West Central Neighborhood encompasses all of downtown west of Calhoun Street, the heart of West Central is its urban residential area, the development of which began as early as the 1830s. Because of the historic and architectural significance of this area, the West Central Neighborhood was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 and was designated as a Local Historic District as early as 1985. The West Central Neighborhood was named the “Best Old House Neighborhood” in Indiana in 2010 by “This Old House Magazine.” The north side of the Neighborhood, along Berry and Wayne streets and Washington Boulevard, was where many of the City’s most prominent families built large, stylish homes. On the south side, situated between West Jefferson Boulevard and the former Pennsylvania Railroad tracks, exists a collection of modest, small-scale cottages arranged along narrow, tree-lined, brick streets. Many workers for the businesses and various industries stretching along the south side of the tracks resided in this area. The area opens into downtown, with restaurants, shops, and countless ways to get lost in the city. The Historic Sion Bass House straddles the edge of the neighborhood and downtown. You can be out the door and on an adventure in minutes. Getting around: Parking is steps away just in back of the building. We are on every major bus route in the city, and simply strolling distance to all downtown has to offer. Other things to note: In the summer, there is a large festival every single weekend. Our library is magnificent, and boasts the best genealogy department East of the Mississippi River (second in the nation, behind only Salt Lake City). The Barr Street Farmers Market every Saturday morning in the summer is a must see. You can be in the middle of everything in minutes.

An interesting propert. Definitely not the average you might expect, but very enjoyable. It is right downtown. The upper rooms could be difficult for older renters as the stairway is quite steep and narrow.

What a treat to spend time in a house built in 1942! The oldest dwelling in the U.S. I've ever slept in. The owner was thoughtful in instructions to customers. I think there is grandeur to the house, but also some shabbiness, and I think that just a little bit of money could do much to reduce the shabbiness. For example, my bedroom had a missing curtain. Many light bulbs weren't working. I wish there had been instructions for the jacuzzi. But don't get me wrong -- more power to you in keeping this incredible old house alive!

Wasn't impressed by Property. Things were ok just not like I had imagined. Ended up driving back home and not staying. Might work great for others though!

This place was great for our needs. The self check in and out worked well since we arrived late and left in the middle of the night. If we had been there for the genealogy studies then it would have been a perfect fit to keep the vibe up for that! Nice property, lovingly kept up and a historical gem.

Lovely historic hotel
Lovely historic hotel
We enjoyed the location being so close to the baseball field. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was lovely. We did get warm and were disappointed to see that the windows were unable to be opened.
