About this cabin rental
Looking to get away for the weekend or for a week? This 1800 sq. ft. cabin is nestled among tall Ponderosa Pines, some 100 years old! A taste of paradise is only about an hour and a half drive from Scottsdale.
The cabin is two stories, the main story being on the second
floor. There are two bedrooms upstairs, one with a queen bed
and the other with two twin beds. Upstairs there is also a
bathroom, family room and kitchen.
Downstairs there is another family room with another queen futon,
bathroom and laundry room. This is the perfect set up for two
couples or two families as it allows each some privacy. There are
two televisions and DVD players, one in the master bedroom and the
other in the downstairs family room. I have several movies you can borrow. WI-FI is also available.
The deck wraps around the entire second floor so you can
choose to sit in the sun or shade whichever you prefer. There is
a gas BBQ and a hammock you can use. The cabin has three
fireplaces; two wood and one gas. The wood ones are in the
upstairs family room and master bedroom and the gas one is in
the downstairs family room. There is a small fee for wood or you
can bring your own. Don't forget to bring marshmallows to roast!
The cabin sits on an acre and a half of land and backs the
National Forest. It is quite private and quiet. If you walk
into the forest about a quarter of a mile at dusk and you are
quiet and lucky, of course, you could see elk, particularly
in the summer and fall. I have seen up to 20 at a time! At the
very least, you are certain to hear bugling in the middle of the
night if you wake up.
I have a book there that gives you all kinds of ideas as to what
to do; hikes, fishing, swimming holes, restaurants, shops, etc.
Everything you need is there. All you need to bring is your
clothes and food.

Really enjoyed this place. The elk and deer were in abundance, the wrap around deck is perfect for relaxation. The host took care to make sure this was a great stay.

When I arrived, the back bedroom with the twin beds had a strong urine odor. This was an issue with another guest from a previous review. The response from the host was that "the cleaning crew used Pine Sol and wondered if that might have caused the odor." I know the difference between the smell of Pine Sol and urine and that was definitely urine smell.
Could NOT use the BBQ grill. There was so much debris on the bottom tray and heat deflectors that when I turned on the grill it all caught fire! I turned off the burners and gas to the grill, but the fire was still spewing out the back of the grill. Luckily the flames dissipated without having to use the fire extinguisher. The response from the host was that "the grill was fine the week prior to my arrival. Must be that the people before you used it a lot."
The remote for the garage door did not work.
There were spider webs on the deck railing, on the gate latch, and one of the sliding door handles. Most of the webs were in the corners of the railing.
There were dirty dishes when I went to use them from the previous guests. Specifically, some of the small bowls had food remnants.
I believe from the hosts responses to my emails is that the cabin was not inspected just prior to my arrival.
I was disappointed with my experience and will not return to this cabin; the only highlight were the elk that came through with their baby calves. That was amazing to see!

Excellent host with fast and friendly communication! Squirrels, chipmunks, birds eat from the feeders on the wraparound deck and Elk that stop by for snacks at a trough on the property. Would highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay here. We had thunderstorms most every day so that impeded our outdoor time, but were still able to enjoy some hiking and exploring. The cabin was very cozy and well stocked and equipped. We especially enjoyed seeing all the wildlife; elk, squirrels, hummingbirds and various other birds. It was a great escape from Phoenix!

We had the most amazing time! The cabin was clean and had everything you could ask for. The property was so peaceful and our family absolutely enjoyed seeing all the elf every morning and being able to feed them Everything was close enough and heading into town when we wanted to we will definitely be returning

My partner and I (and his dog) had a wonderful stay at this lovely get-away, a place which was well-kept, with plenty of amenities, which the delightful bonus this time of year of getting to see elk very, VERY closely! Mere feet from the property. That was so cool!
If I had to make one concern known, it was that a nice shower can really help make a good vacation a great one, and the shower heads on the property offered mostly an aggressive mist, which was simultaneously a little staggering, plus the fact that a mist in the cool weather is extra chilly!

We loved this cabin! Super private and gorgeous scenery. The elk in the evening was a great surprise!! Thank you for letting us enjoy your beautiful cabin. Will definitely be back!

Incredible location. Quiet with lots of visiting animals like elk, squirrels, and birds. Upstairs is perfect set up for a family. Inside circular stair case is less than ideal for smaller children. Overall nice cabin with amazing location.

Towering trees surround the cabin making you feel like you are far away from civilization; but if you need a store/restaurant they are minutes away. Elk and squirrels visited every day and were fascinating to watch from the "upstairs" balcony leaving them space and keeping us at a proper distance. The wrap-around balcony lets you experience the outdoors from all angles and the views were fantastic. We would recommend this place, especially to those that want to swing among the trees in a hammock.

My wife and I stayed here for a weekend getaway. Pine is such a wonderful small town to visit. We love staying being on the forest boundary and took a hike to the nearby meadow. The cabin was clean and had all the necessary amenities. I would have liked to have an electric or stove top kettle as we drink a lot of English tea and hot drinks, but it didn't ruin the trip. We just had a pot on the stove going whenever we were around.

Our family of 6 had a wonderful time. It was so clean! We spent out time exploring the forest, nearby meadow, and just watching the birds and squirrels from inside. Super quiet and great spot. Everyone loved it!

Rhonda's cabin was perfect for our family's weekend trip to the snow. There was plenty of snow on the ground but the roads were plowed and the cabin's driveway was shoveled. We loved seeing all of the elk in the yard, and it was fun to watch the squirrels and birds enjoy the feeder on the balcony. The cabin backs up to the forest and feels secluded but is conveniently close to town and restaurants. It was well equipped with everything we needed, and very comfortable. Rhonda was available if we had any questions or issues.

Enjoyed our stay immensely. A little bit of snow made it wonderful. Enjoyed watching the birds, the squirrels and feeding some elk that came through. What an experience. Crank up the fireplace and enjoy nature and the forest views. Very easy to get to but feels almost like you are in the middle of nowhere.

We loved spending time at this property and would love to go back during the summer. Rhonda was very communicative and helpful when we lost power for a day because of a snow storm. The two wood burning fireplaces were such a treat and it made the romantic getaway so much more special. Absolutely love the small town feeling of Pine and will recommend this property to anyone that wants to get away from city life.

Our stay at Rhonda’s home was wonderful. We wanted a quiet, comfortable and peaceful few days away, and could not have been happier. Animal life surrounded us as we sat on the deck. Elk, woodpeckers, birds of all kinds, squirrels eating and playing… so enjoyable.
Morning hikes , behind the house was great. Our dogs loved smelling everything.
Communication with Rhonda was easy.

Outdoor Paradise
Everything met or exceeded expectations. Wildlife galore, hiking out your back door, wrap around porch to enjoy the breezy views! What more could one ask for in a mountain cabin getaway? I really enjoyed the starry night in the main bedroom!

Peaceful and relaxing getaway
Nice secluded stay that was very relaxing and enjoyable for my wife and I. We were hoping for a stay where we could relax on the deck and enjoy the beautiful wilderness and wildlife that comes with it and that is exactly what we got !! Enjoyed being able to walk outside and into national forest and do some hiking when we wanted and enjoyed the peanuts and corn provided. Thank you ! The spiral staircase inside can be a challenge but it was not a surprise in any way based on what was shared about property before making reservation and was a non issue as we primarily used stairs outside for deck anyways.

Beautiful getaway
Rhonda was very communicative and descriptive in the check in/out process. The cabin was perfect for myself, husband and two kids. The wrap around porch gave beautiful views and we were able to watch several elk walk below us! The forest behind the cabin was easy to get to and made for a full day of adventures!
