We had the pleasure of renting Patty’s beautiful condo in the idyllic Amador area for a brief stay in Panama City in June. Not only did the condo live up to our expectations for cleanliness, convenience and comfort, but Patty and Rudy were the most gracious hosts who also provided a convenient transport option to the airport and from our earlier stay in Coronado. Rudy is also an expert on Panama and briefed us on many of the historical sites along out routes. The condo was equipped with everything we needed and more—there are even bikes provided if you would like to ride around the beautiful Amador area. We could not have made a better choice in places to stay in Panama City and would definitely love to stay here on a future visit.

Couldn’t have picked a better property. Luxury is definitely the word to describe it. Every convenience is in the apartment and Rudy was very helpful. Great restaurant in walking distance , Canal House.

We've stayed in many places during our travels, but this apartment was exceptional and it had everything we'd hoped for and more. Patty and Rudy were excellent hosts, very accommodating and friendly, and helped make our winter getaway to Panama one we will always remember. The view from the apartment is quite beautiful during the day as well as at night. From the upstairs terrace, you have an amazing view of the huge ships working their way in and out of the Panama Canal. Watching sunsets and sunrises from there was mesmerizing. With the bikes our hosts provided, we were able to ride along the Amador Causeway every day and see the ships from a different perspective. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the apartment. Thanks, Patty and Rudy!

My wife and I really enjoyed our week long visit to Central America. Though I was bit hampered with sciatica, we made the most of it. Patti & Rudy were fantastic hosts and the place we stayed at was one of the best we have vaca'd at. Anyone coming to Panama must check this place out! We saw quite a bit during stay and look forward to a return trip sometime in the future! Great Job Guys!

Owner picked us up at airport and after check in dropped us at nearby restaurant. Patti and Rudy practice first class hospitality. The instruction and local resource booklet was up to date and very helpful. They had generously provided us with morning coffee and cream. Kitchen is well equipped. Condo is clean and lovely with great views.

Patty was there as soon as we arrived and checked us in. This condo has everything you need. Especially if you do some cooking yourself. Rudy took us on a fabulous tour. Every informative. Would absolutely stay here again! Thank you for everything!

Great apartment and hosts
We have stayed at vacation rentals all over the world and this is one of the best. Very clean and modern, Patti and Rudi were great hosts. Beautiful view of the city and we loved the rooftop deck. Rudy is a terrific guide who took us on three great daytrips.(and arranged our canal transit) Best way to visit Panama City.

Altos de Amador
My husband and I visited Panama in August for a little shy of 2 weeks. We had the good fortune to select Patty and Rudy's one bedroom condo in Amador. It was clear from the very beginning that we had chosen wisely. Rudy was promptly at the airport to pick us up the night we arrived. He helped us to find a place to eat even though it was late, and their gracious hospitality was extended even further. Patty had sent along some home made treats that we were grateful for the next morning. The condo was professionally/tastefully decorated and spotless. Patty made herself available throughout our stay to promptly answer every question that we had, and they were many. They even provided a cell phone that we could use locally. These two think of everything that a guest would need and want and made it so. Transportation arrangements back to the airport made by Patty were also seamless. I would certainly stay with them again, and recommend the same to family and friends.

Exceptional apartment - great hosts - exceeded expectations
The condo is very spacious, full of natural light and is tastefully decorated which makes it feel like a "home away from home." Not to mention it's a hop and skip to hotspots like Casco Viejo and the Albrook Mall.
We enjoyed our time at the condo more than the the 5-star hotel we stayed at the first two nights. We wished we could have stayed longer!
Rudy and Patty were very accommodating and give you all the details you need up front. If you have additional questions along the way, they reply swiftly to your inquiries/requests, which is refreshing as this is NOT typical in Panama.
We certainly plan on staying there in the future.
- Thanks again Patty & Rudy

A little piece of heaven.
This condo was one of four condos we rented while traveling around Panama and this one was the best and we had some good ones. The decorating was very creative and stylish (I am trying to simulate the artwork in the hall). I have never seen a condo so clean, kudos to the staff. I really liked the area because you were a short ride from anywhere or a even a beautiful walk. Great view from the terrace, great security, and Patty and Rudy were always willing to help with suggestions and directions which was priceless.

Beautifully done!
This is one of the nicer places my husband and I have stayed - very clean and attractively decorated. Sunshine floods in the large window overlooking Panama City skyscrapers. Everything works as it should.
Very comfortable bed. Favourite things: bicycling along the causeway, watching the ships entering the canal. Negatives (every place has a bit of a downside): no close grocery store (although there were a couple of small ones a walk away). This apartment is on the 4th floor and there is a roof top deck on the 8th floor where one can watch the ships or enjoy the sunset.

Loved, Loved, Loved It!
We rented this condo for 8 days and enjoyed every day of it. Rudy and Patty were excellent hosts and made us feel very welcomed. The condo was the perfect size for us and had everything we needed plus more. We especially appreciated the mobile phone and small card we could show a taxi driver to get us back home. The location is convenient to many cultural activities, restaurants and shopping. The property description tells it all. Would we stay there again? Absolutely!

Great location, great view and great hosts
We stayed 5 nights and couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. The condo was great for two people and we loved the view. The kitchen is well stocked and we appreciated the spices and condiments that were provided. Patty was very quick to respond to questions both prior to and during our stay. Thank you Rudy and Patty for making us feel so welcome in both your home and your country.

Absolutely wonderful
My husband and I spent a whole month in the condo on Amador and could not be more pleased. Rudy and Patty are wonderful, always available and responsive. A very good location if you like walking or running, which we do. Watching the ships going through the Canal from the roof top balcony was a never ending entertainment. Would definitely go back there. Easy and cheap cabs and Uber to town if you are looking for shopping. The only small drawback is having to take a cab to the grocery store.

Patty and Rudy are Wonderful!!!
My wife and I were down in Panama recently and came across Patty's Casitas and Rudy's tours and we are so glad we did!!! We couldn't decide whether to stay in Casco Viejo and reacquaint ourselves with the Old City or stay along the Amador and enjoy the ships entering and exiting the Panama Canal. So Patty allowed us to do both and what a great experience it was! Walking through the City Antigua or riding the available bicycles along the Causeway and with totally different restaurants and shops at both made us feel like it was two vacations in one! And Rudy's tours opened our eyes to so many things we would have missed. They became fast friends of ours and are welcome at our Casita in Washington State anytime!!! Thanks again my friends!!

Great unit in a great location
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay in Patty and Rudy's condo. The unit is very homey and well outfitted; the building has a great rooftop deck, work-out room, and garage; and the location on the west end of Panama City was ideal. We rode the provided bikes all over the area, out the Causeway and then along the waterfront into the city to Casco Viejo and downtown. Patty and Rudy were excellent hosts and very accommodating, Rudy proved to be a great tour guide, very knowledgeable on the area. One note, as shown on the map the condo is on the Amador Causeway which can get busy, so there is some road noise but nothing horrible. We'd definitely recommend this place and would stay here again on a return visit.

Believe it!
My wife and I were looking for a nice place to stay for our first trip to Panama. I wondered about all the 5 star reviews. I thought it looked too good to be true. However- from the time we were warmly greeted by Patty and Rudy at the front gate of this beautiful condo building, we quickly realized that there is a reason why people give it 5 stars. Believe all the reviews! We felt like we were already friends with Patty and Rudy that first day.
At the last minute our son became available to join us. It was his birthday. An email to Patty and presto! Another bed in the living room. Perfect!
The first couple of days we walked around Amador, out the causeway, visiting the Biomuseum designed by fellow Canuck Frank Gehry. It is beautiful and interesting. There is a great Italian restaurant, Al Dente, right beside it, with an upper patio overlooking the causeway, with a magnificent view of the City across the water. We walked to the last of the 3 islands where we found another gem, Buccaneros. On the way there is a third great restaurant called Mi Ranchito which we also ate at during our week long stay. If you're not up to long walks, there are the Yacht club and TGI Fridays only a block away!
We were wondering why we heard so many horns honking at us as we walked. These were taxis inquiring whether we wanted a ride. They are everywhere! We used them often. Just ask " how much?" We were surprised at how inexpensive they are. To the end of the causeway, which is about an hour's walk, taxi fare was $3.50! Not many of the drivers spoke more than a few words of English but we only spoke a few words of Spanish so we just said "puquito ", (which I don't think is even a word), and we would all have a great laugh and figure out where we were going. It was fun. All the drivers we met tried hard to understand us and were very accommodating. One thing is true though, we were down by the hotel where Friday's is and the taxis there wanted $10 for the trip the ones on the road in front of the condo wanted $3.50 for!
Later in the week we went on 2 tours with Rudy. He is a real pro. He know almost everything about the area and on one trip he took us up a jungle river to meet and eat with an ancient native tribe of Embera. It was amazing! And in case you're wondering, we saw NO mosquitos, even in the jungle.
I could write a book but I'm running out of characters. I strongly recommend Patty and Rudy for your trip to Panama. They'll make it special!

Beautiful High Rise Condo
After over a week on a sailboat, we checked into the Amador Causeway apartment - immediate feeling of being pampered. Beautifully decorated and a gorgeous city view, we felt spoiled. We rode bikes, provided by Patty, down the causeway. We went to the Museum, within walking distance. We were so tired we picked up food at TGIF and ate in the apartment. We happened to be there over New Years and got to watch some of the spectacular fireworks out our windows. Patty was so flexible with our time at the apartment, she had another couple that had to cancel and worked with us and our time schedule. She works hard to make your stay perfect. We also spent a day with her husband Rudy, on one of his tours and explored a native village. We walked with the medicine man, ate the most delicious fresh fish and watched the natives dance - so delightful!

Our Home Away from Home
Although this vacation was not our first outside the USA, it was our first time in Panama and our first time using VRBO. Many thanks must go to my wife for finding Patty's Casitas among the hundreds of choices that a vacationer can discover on-line. I am usually not ( ok never) the vacation planner for our trips which I guess is why I am writing this review. I have read a few of the reviews on here and wholeheartedly agree that Patty's Condo property was one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. While there is great appeal for staying in the ritzy hotels for the glamorous nightlife, the Condo was a breath of fresh air far enough away from the "maddening" crowd, but a short taxi ride from anywhere you wanted to go. As mentioned in other reviews our condo was equipped with everything a person needed for a most pleasant stay. House rules are posted so there are no misunderstandings and a binder with answers for almost all your questions that you may have during your stay. Our trip to Panama got off to a rough start by being 8 hours late due to airline so instead of arriving in midafternoon, we arrived after 10 p.m. and closer to 11:30 p.m. before arriving at the condo. Even though the hour was late Patty's Husband, Rudy, was there at the condo waiting to check us in and make us feel right at home. He thoroughly showed us the condo and how to operate the AC, and TVs and kitchen appliances. Both Patty and Rudy were always available via phone if we needed information about shopping or dining or touring as Rudy is also a licensed Tour Guide and as far as my wife and I are concerned, the best tour guide we have ever encountered anywhere. Both TGI Fridays and the Balboa Yacht Club were within walking distance from the condo and the food was great. Although we generally like to go to different places each year, we have already decided that we are going back to Panama and when we do our first stop will be with Patty and Rudy.

Amazing vacation
This was my first planned vacation outside the USA and I was so impressed with all the contact and information I received from Patty prior to my decision to rent. What an outstanding property! Well stocked with basics and every appliance you would need. The condo was absolutely beautiful and very luxurious. Taxis were inexpensive and we were able to get around easily. Ater a day out, had dinner at the Balboa Yacht club which was an easy and safe walk (food was delicious) and then relaxed at the condo. Prior to leaving we inquired about a long term rental. Patty and her husband Rudy (who also is a tour guide) were the greatest and most helpful. The view was amazing, quiet neighborhood. Sometimes I would just sit and stare out the window in amazement. Also recommend the tours by Rudy, we went to zip line thru the rain forest and the Embera Indian village which were also excellent. Its all wrapped up in one package! The condo and tours, doesnt get any easier or better than that! Loved it.

Beautiful Amador
We spent the last five days of our 3-week Panama vacation in this great property (after having spent our first 5 days in Patty's fabulous Casco Viejo loft). The Amador condo was another great stay. We really enjoyed taking a morning run along the beautiful causeway and also took the bicycles out a couple of times, which was great fun! We found a brand new Indian restaurant on the middle island which we cycled to for lunch one day, and also enjoyed cocktails at the Balboa Yacht Club just a minute or so from the apartment. For dinner, we went into Casco a couple of times. During the day there were lots of taxis right outside the condo entrance, but in the evenings we usually had to wait a couple of minutes to hail one driving by. It was easy to get back from Casco by just telling the cab drivers "Amador - TGI Fridays"! Always worth negotiating the fare, though....some drivers asked for $10 or even $20(!). We generally paid $4-$7 (probably overpaid, but seemed like a good deal).
The condo itself was terrific. Beautifully decorated and maintained with everything we needed for our stay. The bathroom and shower were huge and the bed was so comfortable. Great views over to Casco and downtown Panama City.
As with the Casco loft, we had a great binder that provided us with all the necessary instructions/directions/recommendations and Patty and Rudy were great to deal with. We would highly recommend this property (and the Casco loft - separately reviewed) and hope to stay at one or both of these properties in the future.

“Patty's Casitas Amador location nearest Amador Causeway expansion.”
Patty's Casitas Amador location nearest Amador Causeway expansion.
Panama is even more interesting and enjoyable this time in Nov. 2014. Our stay at Patty's Casitas on the Amador Causeway allowed us to see all the extensive work going on to evolve this area near the Canal, into a Tourist Destination. Frank Gehry's World Famous Biodiversity Museum is finished. A walking excursion, bike ride or short taxi ride out the causeway, bring major surprises, as new places and things, just completed, appear. The Yacht Harbor and Beach are still to come. For greater access to the Causeway Islands, the single narrow road, is being widened to 2 lanes going each way, using fill dirt from the New Canal Operation. In addition, the waterway approach to the canal will bring Cruise S hips tying up directly by the Walkway, in front of Hotels and Casinos soon to be added. Of course, more Restaurants and Shops will be opening. The ferry boats leave from right in front of the Balboa Yacht Club, only 2 blocks from the Condo and the Albrook Airport is only 10 minutes away by Taxi, so we used the Amador condo as a "base", to take a few side trips to Pedasi, Iguana Island, and Contadora in the Pearl Island Chain. The artists version can be seen on You Tube by searching "Nuevo Amador" in Panama. Now, Patty and Rudy's Amador Condo is right where all these goings on are happening and it's only going to get better. Please see our 2013 review under Patty's Casitas, about the amenities of the Amador Condo where we have loved to stay for 3 years now. Also see our review under Rudy's Tours about the New Canal Tour.

Great condo on Amador Causeway
Patty and Rudy delivered top quality services, whether at their Amador rental unit or through well designed tours to the Embera Indian Village and the Gamboa Rain Forest area. Their thoughtfulness and personable styles added a welcoming touch to their efforts. We had lived in Panama City many years ago and appreciated seeing old landmarks and many changes. We recommend Patty and Rudy to anyone interested in safe, well-maintained ventures.

Sweet Condo on the Causeway
Enjoyed our stay at Patty's and Rudy's condo. Beautiful views of the water, ships at anchor and the skyline. Condo was beautifully maintained - excellent quality appliances, dishes, utensils. Wonderful attention to detail. Both Patty and Rudy were helpful, kind, and accommodating. A lovely place to stay especially for short periods of time. Quite a compact condo and nice location.

Excellent condo, hard to beat
This condo is an excellent option for anyone looking for stay in Panama City. It is very safe and clean and provides most modern conveniences one can demand. Check out the list. Its location permits walking access to views of the Canal shipping traffic, use of exercise trails and very easy and quick travel to the entertainment on the three islands along the causeway. Travel from the condo to Albrook, the largest mall in Central America, and other main Panama City locations is easy convenient. And the owners can't be nicer and helpful.

Nice place to stay - exactly as advertised
Condo was exactly as Patty & Rudy described - very nice, clean & comfortable, overlooks entrance to the Canal, trail heading out Amador Causeway. They even provided a computer, Wi-fi & a cell phone to make it easier for the traveler. There are a few shops and restaurants within walking distance of the condo. Was a little nervous because they did not accepts credit cards as payment but transaction with check & cash was fine. Would definitely recommend staying here.
